If you know you are making excuses then you have already taken the first step. There are gentle yoga dvds as well as "sit and be fit" programs that work for folks who can't move around a lot or have limitations. You can also focus on toning exercises and such that will help.
There is always a way. Start small and take it a bit at a time. It all adds up.
