patchworkpenguin 08-06-2009 11:52 AM

Morning all!

No plan for today yet. I was following a written rotation until the surgery. I need to look at that and pick up where I left off. Since I'm high risk for retina detachments I'm leary about doing too much too soon. LOL, any excuse to indulge my slothful tendenancies.

I'm in a weights mood today, though.

Diva0467 08-06-2009 12:02 PM

30 minutes HIIT on the treadmill
30 minutes on the Elliptical.
I've never been able to do more than 10 minutes on that Elliptical Trainer, but today I was determined to do 30, no matter what and I did it. Of course I dropped into a sweaty pile of mush on the floor afterward, but I DID IT!!!!

Echo 08-06-2009 12:34 PM

my exercise confession for today.

i went walking/jogging/running in the park today.

i can't run for more than 1 minute at a time. so i do interval jogging, 1 minute jogging/running, and then walking, until the pain in my shins subsides!

total run/jog time clocked in at 10minutes.

total distance walked/jog/ran = 2.61 miles

So far I've been alternating workout days. Sometimes I don't mean to, but life gets in the way unexpectedly. However I kick some booty and take numbers on my On days. I'm doing the Wii Active 30 Day Challenge. I'm finding that the workouts aren't quite long enough for me so I add on. Twice now I've gotten 2 hour trophies. It's just so much fun!

My ultimate goal for August is to complete the 30 Challenge. I'm even taking it along on vacation! That's dedication :)

My goal for today is to get in a workout after my kids' gynmastics class

patchworkpenguin 08-06-2009 02:31 PM

I did about 45min of upper body weights today. I recently bought a DVD set called Best of Tamilee which is a remake of the old Buns/Abs/Arms of Steel workouts {which I never tried; before my exercise time}. I did the warm up then the 15 min arm workout. Its called an arm workout but it follows the recent exercise trend of combo moves where you just can't work your arm you have to add a lower body move also. I don't like combo moves so I was less than pleased. Then I added on one of Tamilee's older workouts I Want Those Arms, which I have had for several years but never tried. The workout is split into two programs {beginner amd more advanced} but I did both. No combo moves here; but both workouts contained the same exercises {bicep curls, overhead press, lat raises, tricep kickbacks, etc}. I have to admit I liked the older workout better than the newer one.

Echo, I am a terrible runner also, but I've been doing interval workouts {love those} on my treadmill, and I have noticed an improvement in my running. I don't feel like I'm going to die anymore, I'm just out of breath.:o

Narnia99 08-06-2009 03:13 PM

Great job everyone :cp It's so motivating to read what everyone is doing!

August 6: Stairmaster 30 mins + 10 mins of abs.

Penguin, I remember the old Tamilee workouts. I think I might still have a few on VHS kicking around. I'm not a big fan of combo moves either.

Onederchic 08-06-2009 04:22 PM

Good luck, Liz

Great work Penguin and Narnia99 :cheer2:

Just finished 30 minutes cardio.
Total today = 1 hour cardio :cb:

nakedmango 08-06-2009 09:30 PM

6--Bike to work and back, about 40 min/13K; 60-min upper body/abs class; 30-min run, 6.2 mph, 30:22

Echo and patchworkpenguin--I started off running by doing one minute at a time, and then walking for a minute. I did that for half an hour or so, and I was wiped! I moved up slowly, to a minute and a half at a time, then two minutes. One day, I was supposed to be running for 5 minutes, and I realized I was feeling good enough to keep going, and before I knew it I had run 10 minutes. Keep at it--you will be there before you know it!

I don't think there are very many people on the planet who feel fantasic when they run--it's hard work! Most people I've spoken to have bad days, when they can't run worth a damn, and some days that are pretty good--as in, once they got past the initial "this sucks! why am I running?!?" they felt okay when they kept going. Running is mostly a mental game--I run because I choose to do it, and to keep going...not because my body likes it, or it's "better" than other cardio. I choose to do it, I choose to push myself. And you should both be pleased with yourselves--you are pushing yourselves too. Well done!! :carrot:

Way to go Penguin and Narnia99 :carrot: :cheer2:

patchworkpenguin 08-07-2009 01:21 PM

Narnia, Are you doing the Extended stretches after the workouts. Funny story! I resolved that I was going to add that on after each workout. I only missed once and I was extremely sore for the next few days. I hate being sore, so I never skipped again.

And are you doing cardio on your off days? Most of the time I was too exhausted to even think about cardio, especially in Meso 1!

If I'm going to get ANYTHING done today I need to get away from the computer!

lookergirl76 08-07-2009 03:08 PM

Total today = 1 hour cardio, 30 minutes core MFC :cb:

patchworkpenguin 08-07-2009 10:55 PM

I got the house vacumned but ended up spending most of the day in bed with a heating pad on my stomach. Its TTOM but I'm feeling worse than usual. I think I might have picked up a bug from my friend's son who wasn't feeling well Wed night. Hopefully, I'm not sick the rest of the weekend

Onederchic 08-07-2009 11:22 PM

I hope you feel better soon, Penguin

Onederchic 08-08-2009 10:32 AM

I had planned to not do anything today since it is the 3rd anniversary of my daddy's passing but I know he would be so happy to know I was making myself healthier so I am gonna continue with my plan...

1 hour cardio today

Echo 08-08-2009 12:05 PM

Hope you feel better Penguin, and I can totally relate with the cramps, I have really bad cramps my first day. i just have to lie down with a hot water bottle and take it easy.
----

Awww Onderchic, I'm so sorry about your Father . May he rest in peace. He would be so proud of you, you've lost an incredible amount of weight, it is SO impressive!!! you totally rock!!! you have such a beautiful and encouraging heart.

Well done on the cardio!

---

My exercise confession. I played tennis for 2 hours. It was a gorgeous day, blue sky, sun shining, perfect weather for tennis :) i'm glad i went. When I was going to the tube station on the way back, i noticed a shelf of books with a sign, Free books take one! lol and so i did! Picked it up cause i liked the cover , called Labrynth By Kate Moss, apparently a bestseller, didnt get much time to sift through the others, as the kind tran station guy told me my next train was up in 3 minutes. what nice people eh!
and i noticed these beautiful trees and flowers on my way to the tennis club. it must be the gabriel method rubbing off on me! haha I listened to it last night, and I imagined myself waking up at 9am, as he said.

and would you believe it. I woke up at 8.59!! by myself! i was stunned when i looked at my mobile clock. but i stayed in bed for another half an hour hehehe. but spooky eh! i've heard that it happens that when you tell yourself you need to wake up at a certain time, you do. spooky!

Narnia99 08-08-2009 03:52 PM

I'm going to take today as my rest day instead of tomorrow. I have a nasty headache right now and I just don't think I can get on the Stairmaster.

Onderchic, your dad would be very proud of you!

Penguin, I hope you are feeling better.
I haven't been doing the extended stretch segment, but I really should. I usually just add on my own stretches, but next week I am going to add it on. I am doing cardio on the days inbetween the weight workouts. I found it hard in meso 1 but I am enjoying meso 2 and don't find it as hard to fit in the cardio. Of course I only just finished week 1 of meso 2 :)

Echo, sounds like you had a great day playing tennis. Good for you!

Have a wonderful day everyone :)

Echo 08-08-2009 04:22 PM

awww Thanks Narnia!! :-)

and good idea about resting. its important to listen to your body. no point punishing yourself over it.

Hope your headache soon passes. and you have a good workout tommorow instead :) makes sense to swap it over!

have a great day tommorow everyone :cheer:

patchworkpenguin 08-08-2009 04:59 PM

Not getting much formal exercise today. Hubby invited my parents over for dinner on the spur of the moment, so we've been busy getting the house cleaned, putting an extra leaf in the table, hanging the new curatins.

I bought some steak a few days back and didn't freeze it, I told Hubby we had to eat it today, so he invited my parents to help us eat it. Then apaologized for making them eat steak! LOL

I'm feeling better, thanks for the well wishes. My cramps are gone but I'm still feeling tired.

Chic, Hope your day is going well! What part of TN did you live? Anywhere near me?
