Default The lean, mean, green fitness challenge

Join my challenge today for a healthier, more economic, greener you.

The challenge:
You must use your bicycle if you need to go somewhere that is within a 10-mile radius (adject based on fitness level) of where you live. If you do not have access to a bike, you could walk as well, just shrink your radius accordingly. These are the exceptions:
-poor weather conditions
-traveling through an unsafe neighboorhood
-needing to carry something that can not safely/easily be carried in a backpack or on the handlebars
-sickness/ injury
-states of excessive inebriation that cause you to no longer be able to operate a bike safely
-Time restrictions, despite planning ahead to the best of your ability
-If something is directly en route of your driving destination

Why?
Why not? As long as you live moderately close to the places you go and have sidewalks, this will work. (sorry to all the rural residents) You will get more exercise, save money on gas, and even help out the planet too.

The reward:
Well, first you will be more active and get more in shape . But I have an idea that will really motivate you. Track your progress on this thread and count how many miles you have ridden your bike on small trips. Edit your posts and add all of these miles together at the end of the summer and calculate how much money in gas you will have saved. This is the money you can spend on something fun. Any ideas?

My Progress:
Total miles: 9.84 miles
Total money saved: $1.14
(gas money saved is a rough estimate that is calculated based on the area's current gas average price)

I saved $1.14 just in my first day. Sounds small but at that rate, thats 7.98 per week, which brings me to a savings of $47.88 for the 6 weeks I plan on doing this. Thats enough for a wicked night out wouldnt you say?
