Default Cheap gym shoes

So I just joined a new gym yesterday (finally!) and I went there last night and did about 45 minutes on the treadmill and my shoes were killing my feet. So I went again this morning and I did 30 minutes on the treadmill and couldn't handle it anymore. My toes were hurting so bad and now I have blisters.

I guess my feet got bigger lol. I need new shoes but I don't have the money to go to the mall and buy those expensive athlete shoes. I have about 20 dollars to spend maybe a little more. So what do you recommend?

Try looking at the clearance shoes at sports authority, a lot of time you can find brand names like asics and such for pretty cheap.

I don't know personally I wouldn't sacrifice my feet- they are too important.

I injured myself last year because of crappy shoes (they were NIKE's).

I went to a place called "road runners" recommended by my doctor. They had me walk, then run on a treadmill, the whole time watching my feet through a camera, then I walked on a touch pad and it showed how high or low my arch was- through that they determined the BEST type of shoe for my feet- I won't lie I paid $150 for the shoes- but they are the BEST shoes I have EVER had! No more foot pain and I even bought the extra inserts to give myself more support.

Maybe don't run but use an elliptical as well to minimize impact.

Good luck.

If you have a Ross there also great place to look, it's really just slim pickins but that's where I get my good shoes for cheaper (Nike's New Balance, etc.)

Having cheap shoes can mess up not only your feet but your knee joints and your back. I would look for shoes that give you support and ideally if you are running, you'd get fitted for a running shoe at a running store so that you can find a shoe that provides the right support for you.

I'd second the suggestion of using an elliptical instead of running or any high impact activity.

I will be looking into some places tomorrow, hopefully I can find a good pair for a fair price.

Thanks again

Heya Kirsten - even if you're wearing a stained, oversized t shirt, baggy old smelly pants that you stole from a hobo and a bra with holes in it - the most important thing is a good pair of shoes!

(not implying you'd wear that )

Payless also has relatively inexpensive shoes with decent support.

Haha well I can't say that I would wear that but I did end up getting a good pair of shoes!

I went to the sports store and found some good shoes on clearence, they were still 40 dollars ( and not too fashionable ) but my boyfriend helped out and now my feet don't hurt when I am at the gym!
