WOO HOO paperclippy!!!!!!!! Doesn't it feel good?

I also wasn't sure what to do now that "I'm done!!!" with the C25K. I found doing a straight run for 30 mins was getting a little boring for me so I started HIIT training. I think it stands for High Intensity Interval Training. And boy oh boy, does it kick me in the butt! So I've been doing that two times a week and on my third run day for the week I run as far as I can for 30 mins. Doing the HIIT training has really helped my speed.

It's funny cuze after every run I'm so excited and my husband is like, "Okay, great, what is so exciting about it???" He is very supportive but can't understand why I'm always so excited when I finish a run! So I have to stay here with you guys cuze you guys understand!!!!

Hey Jamie. I did some really informal intervals on my run this morning. I'm waiting to see if I get sore!

Keep going everyone!

JamieJo 12-01-2008 02:30 PM

Julie, do you ever do squats too? MAN OH MAN, last week I started doing squats (and did some last night) and phewwww....I can feel it today!

LOL, no, I'm not doing any squats. But I have done weight training before, so I know of what you speak. :o

I'm a *little* sore in the thighs from the intervals this morning, but maybe it won't get any worse.

You ladies really are inspirational! I loaded DD up in the stroller this morning and headed out for W1D2. I'm just going for time at the moment, even though I know I'm not running all that far because I run really slowly. I'm just focusing on getting out there and moving, and I'll work on speed and distance later on.

It's amazing to think that I can keep this up and eventually get BORED with "just" running for 30 minutes. :D Way to go, ladies!

And yay for everyone getting out even when it's cold! I saw a great fleece hoodie at Target with a little pocket for an MP3 player, and I'm thinking I might get one of those in the next couple of weeks. A headband and gloves, and I should be all sorted!

KEEP IT UP SILLY BUTT!!!!! You will be there soon if you keep up with it! :)

I'm on W3D1, but it took a while to get there. I don't know why trying to get 3 runs/week seems to be difficult, but it's turning out to be. I"ll keep at it though!!!!

Sigh. I'm restarting again for, I think this is the fifth time. I've never made it past week 3. I just...lose motivation. I honestly don't *like* running all that much, and I feel like I look like an idiot trying these silly slow intervals at the gym while all around me people are pounding away for 45 minute runs...but I've always wanted to "be a runner", so I keep throwing myself at this. My boyfriend's good about trying to poke me to get to the gym when I'm being stubborn about it, but I'm...stubborn.

So I guess what I'm saying is, I'm trying again. I'm promising myself to check this thread every night around when I'm supposed to be going to the gym, in the hopes that you guys - with your more similar motivations and perspectives than my boyfriend, who's just kind of nagging about it - might help me get motivated to go even when I'm sitting here going "But I dowanna!" in my head. Help keep me honest?

Thanks!

I haven't managed to get past W4D1 as I have been a little bit ill - not much, just a slight cough and a cold and a sore throat, but I don't want to go out running in zero temps and risk making it worse.

It's also my baby's first birthday tomorrow so I have had a busy week anyway getting ready for her party. I should be able to do D2 on Friday though.

paperclippy 12-03-2008 10:39 AM

I did "week 8 day 1" last night, but what I actually did was a 2.25-mile run, so it was probably a little more than 28 minutes (I didn't time myself). It was my first time running since we got snow here -- a little slippery!

Nikaia 12-04-2008 04:29 AM

So I got my **** together - made myself a podcast to run to, as I loved the cues on Ullrey's 'casts but didn't much like the music - and hauled my happy butt to the gym, albeit about three hours later than I'd intended. I messed up my podcast a little bit - forgot to put the "dings" for changing pace into the last five minutes of the intervals section, so was running my heart out for 2.5 minutes approximately toward the end until I realized it wasn't *going* to ding at me to slow down. My legs nearly seized on me doing that kind of push on my first day back, but I proved to myself I *can* do it, so there's kind of an upside.

Anyway, I finished the workout. My thigh muscles are a bit stiff from it, but I'm glad I did it, and I think I'm going to jump straight into Week 2 tomorrow since W1 was so easy for me. And I suppose that's another upside of restarting for the fifth time. I no longer need to do more than a day of W1 before moving on.

Off to shower!

I've finally made it over to this thread... I haven't ventured into the exercise groups yet (and really should be here too). I have been doing the Couch to 5K and am loving it. I completed Week 6 Day 2 yesterday and will do Day 3 tomorrow morning. I am proud of me :D I am going for time and not speed or distance right now. I can't run fast enough to do distance and time matched up :p I plan to gradually increase my speed along the way and will eventually get to running a full 5K.

JamieJo 12-04-2008 02:21 PM

Hey again Karen!!! isn't is awesome to feel like you are really becomming a runner? have you noticed any changes in your legs yet? I didn't really(and was frustrated) until about the 8th week. Now I'm all obsessed with my legs! :) Do you know what your plan is going to be when you complete the C25K...since YOU'RE ALMOST DONE?!?!!?!?!? :woohoo:

It is awesome!! I have noticed some change in my legs :D I like!! I haven't noticed so much of a change in the scale but my pants are bigger :carrot: My plan for when I am done is to continue running three mornings a week. My speed and distance are off now and I plan to gradually increase my speed so that I am actaully running 5K in about 30 minutes. Right now I am running slowly, but still running.

I've been lurking...

morning- I started the c25k 5 weeks ago. Tonight I am about to do w5d2.
It sure did get tough all of a sudden! What's even more tough is I haven't even lost an ounce! and I'm not eating any more than before. Clothes are not any looser either.:?: Has anyone else had these frustrations?
