Week 9 day 1 was not so much. My body wants to run faster than it can endure. I have to slow myself down so I can run the duration of 30 minutes. It was so FUN going FAST though. Re-doing tonight.

I can't seem to progress in my running

I walk 3 to 6.5 miles everyday, for the last 5 months. I really want to be able to run at least a mile.
I can run 1/4 mile without stopping no problem, but as soon as I get to a 1/4 there's no engery left. It's like hitting a wall, it's that sudden.
I can't seem to get past it. and shin splits the next day even though my leg don't bother me while I run because I walk so much. Any suggestions?

Carol999 - You should look into the C25K Program. I was not able to run longer than a 1/4 mile as well. It is a nine-week program and you build your runs nice and slow.

I am now jogging 3.1 miles every two days with my first organized run coming up on Thanksgiving.

I'm redoing ALL of week 9. I'm not ready to graduate. :)

Hey everyone, I'm looking to begin running consistently and this looks like right where I need to start. I can already run a 12 min mile on the treadmill, but I think I'll start out on week one just to be safe. I think I'm also going to start running outside. The fitness test I'll be taking will be done outside, so training on a treadmill won't be much help in the long run.

I'm starting tomorrow! Will update!

going back to week 8 now. I'm trying to build it back up, because I've been a bit lax. Either that or I should just start bridging to 10k. IDK we will see.

I've been trying c25k for what feels like forever now. I first tried over the summer when I was still pretty close to my starting weight and I couldn't handle it yet so I quit. I got terrible shin splints and couldn't make it through the first week. After losing 20 or so lbs I tried to pick it up again and was so happy that I could finally complete one day! After running it three times I felt like I was still struggling and my shin splints came back. I took a few weeks off and have been taking it very slowly now. For a few weeks I ran twice a week for just part of the time and now I'm back to running the full interval set. It's a good feeling but I'm still having a little trouble with my shins so I don't know when I'll be moving on to week 2. I hope it's soon!
