i HAVE to have my zune for workouts...when it gets tough to hang on to my pace, i get song skipping ADD!! keeps me going i guess Here are my favorites from my "running playlist":
relief next to me - tegan and sara
stop! - against me! (soooo motivational...i probably do my best running to this song here)
you're crazy - guns n' roses
slow hands - interpol
standing in the way of control - the gossip
GFC - albert hammond, jr.
girl anachronism - the dresden dolls
that's not my name - the ting tings
creator - santogold
broken box - queens of the stone age
i also have to agree with toxic by britney spears...that is my only guilty pleasure britney song
Sandstorm- Darude
Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger- Daft Punk
Word Disassociation- Lemon Demon
Bad Idea- Lemon Demon
The first two are of a category that I really wish I had more of, like techno except that I can stand to listen to them and they are, in fact, really fantastic exercise songs to which I can listen a couple of times and will if I find the next song on shuffle disappointing. The third isn't available on iTunes, but you can download it and the fourth at www.lemondemon.com. Out of those two, the third I like primarily because I find the lyrics so entertaining that they keep my mind off running (Another good one like this by Lemon Demon is Ben Bernanke). They are essentially a series of random words, but the bridge, where he whispers softly and creepily "One sunlight stocking chimney sweep eleven hatred earmuff okay, rapscallion, my elusive yellow sketching creamy helium, gentlemanly communique" always makes me smile. My one problem with this song is that I always feel the need to at least mouth along, which screws up my breathing, and then I get cramps. The fourth is nice because, as songs go, it just has a ton of energy and electronic-y sounds. That and it's about overcoming impossible odds to survive a zombie attack, and commiserates with my feelings 30 minutes into a run with a whiny, despairing "Maybe this was a bad idea, oh nooo".
1.) Britney Spears - Freakshow
2.) kittycat Dolls - When I Grow Up
3.) Rhianna - Disturbia
4.) Britney Spears - Circus (or 'Womanizer')
5.) Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man
lately i've been running to Girl Talk's Night Ripper album. It is fantastic because it keeps me moving. it's just a mashup of samples so the music changes pace really quickly.
My iPod shuffle is a MUST when I exercise LOL My latest faves are:
Yea! - Usher
That's Not My Name - Ting Tings
Suddenly I See - KT Tunstall
Fergalicious - Fergie
Bet You Look Good on The Dancefloor - Arctic Monkeys
Know what?!? I have no shame... my favorite up-and-at-em music right now is any of the older Michael jackson stuff. I mean come on... let's see: Thriller, Billie Jean, Jam, Don't Stop til you Get Enough, Blame it on the Boogie, Speed Demon, etc, etc, etc... the list just goes on forever. I listen to all of his stuff up through Dangerous and then I kinda lose zeal for it. What's funny is, My 12 year old niece was listening to his stuff one day, she loves his music, and I suddenly remembered the awesomeness. You know, I'd say crotch grabbing and strange fetishes aside, the man was always a genius when it came to pop.
I love trance and dance music when I'm at the gym so I download a lot of club mixes and Ministry of Sound compilations. My fave tracks/artists include:
CASCADA
Basshunter
Sash!
Armin van Buuren
Britney Spears (Toxic, Womanizer, Circus)
Rihanna - (Don't Stop the Music, SOS, Disturbia)
The Automatic - Monster
Chicane - Saltwater
Eric Prydz (Call On Me, Pjanoo)
Girls Aloud (Something Kinda Oooh, Sexy! No No No)
Madonna (Hung Up, Sorry, Ray of Light)
U2 - Vertigo
I need something fast. That's the only requirement. lol
I don't have a 'top 5' though, because it's like a 150-song playlist. Lots of variety. Some examples:
Dancing Through Sunday - AFI
The Suffering - Coheed and Cambria
Dashboard - Modest Mouse
The Unthinking Majority - Serj Tankian
Edge of Seventeen - Stevie Nicks
Sugar - System of a Down
Rock Yo Hips - Crime Mob
Red Flag - Billy Talent
Shake Ya Tailfeather - Nelly feat P. Diddy and Murphy Lee
Honest Mistake - The Bravery

Prayer of the Refugee - Rise Against
Don't stop believing - Journey
You don't know me - Ben Folds
Sweet child of mine - Guns N Roses
