Okay. I'm in.

I did 8 on the 4th stair step. Whew...my chest hurts!

Mrs Snark 06-23-2008 05:43 PM

OK I did my "Day 1" push ups.

Week 1, Day 1: Sets of 7, 7, 5, 4, 12. Against the counter.

mstigger 06-23-2008 06:50 PM

Got in Day 1, week 1. Was a nice workout. I am going to feel this tomorrow. Thanks for starting this. I am going to share it with my karate class as we do lots and lots of push ups (mainly the ones on your knees!)

Nikki2476 06-23-2008 09:24 PM

Hey, Heather I plurked that. Yeah, my trainer as well as what I read in The New Rules of Lifting for Women concur on that. You will engage your core doing it from a counter or better yet a bench - whereas your mid body muscles get a break when you cut yourself off at the knees. "When your weight is resting on your toes and hands, and everything else in in play, your core muscles have to do the work they're designed to do." -p.188. 60-degree push up would be the easiest form of this (kitchen counter height), 45-degree next level, and the hardest level of this variation would be off of the bench - about 12-15 inches high. I've been doing the bench variations for awhile now and am trying to push to the next level with this challenge.

I updated my initial post.
My abs and chest hurt.

Nori71 06-25-2008 12:45 AM

Oh yeah, I was soooo shaky after doing Day 2 today also.

Fat Chick B Gone 06-25-2008 07:11 AM

Thanks Nori!! I think I'll switch to the bench (well actually a chair) for now. Makes sense about engaging the core.
I'm having trouble remember this challenge - mostly because I hate push ups! I did weights after cardio last night and my arms are a little sore but I'm going to do my day 2 now bench style before my shower.

abie 06-25-2008 08:36 AM

I did my day 1 yesterday. I switched from knees to kitchen counter.

I can feel it a little this morning. Yay =)

This sounds great! I'm in. :carrot::carrot:

I'll do my initial set tonight and see where I'm at. I think I'll do them off the kitchen counter -- I didn't realize how ineffective they were if you do the ones on your knees...

Fat Chick B Gone 06-25-2008 09:03 AM

Um yeah counter/bench ones way harder then girly ones! I still couldn't make it all the way down!!

mariarose 06-25-2008 10:27 AM

Did them again yesterday, and it was sort of fun this time!
