Default Is this reasonable?

I just found out that I got an internship in Orlando this summer and I'm super excited, but I am not so happy with myself. I have probably 7 weeks and a few days before I head out, and I really wanted to take advantage of my free time (Just have 3 exams on Mon. and one on Tues. then I'm free!) to get into shape.
I have an overall goal of 14-19 pounds that I want to lose, but I do understand that I wont loose this much before I go.

I was planning to ride my bike each morning on a path around our city lake (aprox. 4 miles with many, many, many LARGE hills).

Then during the day doing some fun activities. I.e. Jump roping, Hula hooping, Swinging (<-With all the pumping and such it seems like you would get some low impact exercise), Tennis, etc.

Then at night I was going to walk with my mom prob. for a mile or so. Last summer we would walk around the lake, but mom says she needs to work back up to that.

I plan on doing this 5-6 days a week, and of course cutting our junk food and eating healthier.
So what does everyone think? Suggestions and comments are very much accepted!

I would focus on doing one of those activities per day for 5 days per week max. Exercising 3 times per day seems excessive to me. Especially if your body is not used to exercising.

Focusing on eating healthier is a great idea! Make sure you are eating a well balanced diet (with a good balance of protein, complex carbs, and goods fats) and try not to go below 1200 calories (1500 might be better since you'll be exercising), below that it's hard to get all your nutrients in.

Also, don't get too discouraged if the weight doesn't come off super quick. You are already with the healthy range for BMI and the closer you are to goal the slower the weight loss, so it may take a while. Keep it up and you'll get there!

Congratulations on the internship!

I agree with zenor--- I would also include some light strength training in there- if you aren't used to weights already- body resistance is great- like push-ups, etc...

Good luck and congrats on the internship!!!

I agree with Bertie... strength training might not help you lose weight quickly, but it will help you look and feel better in the short term, and you'll probably lose the weight more easily long term... all of which are much more important than the # you see on the scale 7 weeks from now, IMO.

Adding strength training to that schedule would probably lead to being pretty tired out... so maybe less days of biking or other strenuous activities. The walk with your mom sounds like a pretty light workout for you, so I see no reason you couldn't do it almost every day.

Congrats on the internship!!! I know what you mean about using your free time wisely before you go. In exactly 2 weeks I'll be done with my degree, and I'm starting a PhD program in late August, so until then I plan on just working part time (20 hours a week) and putting lots more effort into losing weight and getting healthier. Let us know how it goes!
