I didn't get it at my peak weight, but when I regained 50# after losing 100#. Losing weight and doing calf raises resolved it for me, and I no longer limp in the morning.
I had mine injected with cortisone and it was extremely painful (the shot). It also didn't seem to help at all.
I agree the orthotics and stretching are key. I could not sleep on my stomach as I usually do because it pointed my toes forward and was painful. My podiatrist recommends New Balance athletic shoes for their excellent support.
My Dr. did foot x-rays and I also have heel spurs - bony areas of inflammation possibly caused by chronic plantar fasciitis. I stand for a living and work long hours.
i think there are too many dr's out there that just rely on steroids (cortisone inj) but it really doesn't do anything other than reduce some inflammation and make the pain go away...but if they don't teach you how to stretch properly etc..then its no good and just comes back. I have thought about acupuncture (right now $$$ is issue) its hard enough paying for the chiropracter (other issues) but i definately think a podiatrist is extremely important
