Here's my weekly update
4/14 - 4 miles 4/15 - 4.25 miles 4/16 - 4 miles 4/17 - 4 miles 36.25/45 |
Didn't do any walking Friday or Saturday... unless you count walking to the refrigerator! It's been a rough calorie filled weekend!
But I did MUCH better today! just got back form a 1.6 mile walk w/ DD - and now I'm going to do a 10 min ab workout. I'm feeling awfully squishy in the mid-section. :) |

Thought I would do a repeat 5k today and make that my regular Sunday run. I was cursing the heavens above mid run but I made it through (with one minor slow down to catch my breath) and I finished the 5k over 3 minutes faster than last week. Now the goal is a sub-30 minute 5k maybe in June or July. I'm starting to get the itch to run again. Crazy!
4.0 miles in total today with the warm up and cool down. 29.25/40 |
CAT...slow down so that soldier can catch you...wink
|

Wow, everybody is really rockin'! Great job!
Gary, Your walk along the beach sounds lovely. I think it's terrific how you and Angie find time to walk together. That's really wonderful. So far I've done 50 min of yoga today and have a 4 mile walk planned with a friend for later this afternoon. The weather has been awesome so the weekend was terrific. The school has a lot of outdoor activities planned for the children all week to celebrate earth day. I hope the weather holds so they can enjoy it all! 20 hours and 45 min of 30 hours |
4.5 mile run this morning.
35/42 |
I got off work a little early today so the mutts and I went over the hill...giving Angie a break so she could go to yoga after school.
LOVNMOM Angie's rule for me is "If you want it...you gotta catch it!" ....did I mention she runs?...whew!!! Actually we really enjoy our walks with our dogs! 59/75 MILES |
I did get my walk in with M today and then another 2 miles alone tonight. DS's scout leader didn't require any help and I had taken care of all my Cubmaster duties, so off I went. It was really nice. I rarely walk "in town." There were many families out walking and riding bikes together. Spring just brings out the best!!
Gary, I'm really enjoying yoga at home. The closest class to me would be about a 40 min drive, but I may check one out some day as a treat. Do you ever go along? 21 hours and 15 min of 30 minutes Yeah.....I'm finally ahead of schedule!!! |
1.25 miles today, going into work late and sort of let time slip by me this morning. Will most likely have a nice long walk tonight after work to add in some more!
30.50/40 |
Ran 4.5miles this morning. Taking off from running tomorrow...hope to bike ride.
39.5/42 |
Well I got on the TM again tonight and decided to run 2 miles, not sure why but hey if I have the energy why not! So all in all another 3.5 miles to add.
34/40 guess who is going to make goal this month? |
cakeses, when the exercise whim hits it is not ours to question, we should just "run" with it, for tomorrow we may have to force ourselves. Great job!
Baskgal, You got your motor running, only 2.5 miles to goal. Woo hoo! Rain yesterday morning, but then it turned beautiful. I made brats, those WI favorites, on the grill for supper and then went for a 45 min bike ride with my two youngest children. We didn't ride very fast, because our dachtshund was along. She doesn't have very long legs, but she's got a lot of heart. The bike trail was soft from the rain so between the slow pace and the slight sinkage my legs still got an excellent workout. Plus the kids spent an extra 10 or 15 min playing under the bridge. There were tadpoles galore and in one area the tree frogs were so loud. My 8 y/o son laughed and said how the boy frogs are singing, "I'm so handsome, look at me, my lillypad is the biggest you can see." Kids, what fun! 22 hours of 30 |
Thanks lovnmom for the thumbs up! It is all of your support that keeps me going!
No running today. Hopped on the bike and did 14miles. 39.5/42 |
Great job BASKGAL and CAT!
No LOVNMOM...I have never gone to yoga with Angie...don't think I ever will! We are building a new gym and community center at church in the next year+, she plans to be able to teach yoga, to members in the congregation, by the time it is completed, we have been saving a little for her training. We love brats....if we don't put them on a roll with mustard, etc. we dip them in a sauce of cumin~paprika~worcestersire sauce and ketchup! No miles for me in the last 3 days....over time at work then this afternoon we sat with our Vicar at church...watching the internet...to see where he would get his call...then we all went for pizza!...humm..I better get going on those miles! Not going to happen tomorrow either...daughter is defending her thesis for her Master's...a must see for dad!! Keep up the good work gals! |
Just walked this evening. Giving myself a little break I suppose even though I wanted to run. Gotta let the old body catch up to my spirit! 1.75 miles in total.
35.75/40 |
Gary, mmm, that sauce sounds yummy. I'll try mixing a batch by trial and error the next brat fest we have. The activity at your church sounds wonderful.
Yes cakeses, we must let the bod rest too!! I did the 60 min workout on Sunrise Tai Chi. I hadn't done it in a very long time and I'd forgotten how hard my tummy works when I do all the breathing exercises correctly. You do alot of squating in it too. That'll be great for my walking!! 23 hours of 30 hours |
Planned on going for a run today, but it seemed too hot. Therefore, I went to the pool. I dove right in and continually swam laps for 30min. I couldn't even tell you if the water was hot or cold b/c I dove in and didn't stop. Gotta love Florida. Sorry to all my cold-weathered friends.
Maybe I will achieve my April goal tomorrow....... |
Baskgal, Yah, it's hard not to hold that against you. We went from sunny and 70 on Mon to 33* with rain and loads of wind the rest of the week. There was even a tornado in WI yesterday. I'm a pretty big person and can be happy for you though. Well, sort of anyway;) That's exactly why I changed my goal this month though. So, when the mood hit or the weather is right for something other than walking I can feel comfortable doing something different rather than worrying if I get my miles in or not. I hate not making my challenge. You're doing really well. Have you always been active and started challenging yourself here, because you wanted to walk and run more or are you a beginning exerciser?
Just 30 minutes of dancing for me yesterday. I got two "new" actually really old cds in the mail yesterday. Remasterd Meat Loaf and Supertramp from the very early 70's. Funny, I was really looking forward to them. I wanted some rock n roll around the house that talked to me. Rather than my kids. Ha, it was a nice trip down memory lane, but it sure doesn't TALK to me anymore. Amazing Grace talks to me much more these days. Probably because it's still amazing to me I came through the Meat Loaf era unscathed lol But, it was fun dancing and watching my kids faces. "How do you know all the words to these songs mom?" " You used to listen to this????" Oh well. 1 hour of Yoga today 24.5 hours of 30 hours |
Happy week-end folks :)
i just got in from an interesting 3 mile walk with my golden retriever Reba. Angie had to teach Saturday school today so she took Rylee with her. It seems that last week one of the teachers took her dog and it really calmed the kids don't. These kids are in Saturday school for a reason ;) So Angie thought she'd give it a try. First time Reba has ever gone on a walk with me solo! She has been left behind before when she has had fatigue from an old leg injury. Nervous Norvous! But we got through it and probably burned a few extra calories! Love the music LOVNMOM! as for the brats...we just squirt a glob of ketchup on the plate, pour a little worchestershire sauce over it, sprinkle the cumin and paprika on top then swirl the cut up brat pieces in it. Just a way an old german guy showed us a few years back at a church BBQ. Great having the choice BASKGAL to sweat or swim ;) It was right at 70 here this morning on my walk with a nice breeze...gonna get hot today though! Hey CAT that 'old body...WHAT!? wait until you're my age ;) can do amazing things! As my daughter proved in her Master's thesis this week! but then you already know that being a soldier's gal and all! :) HAVE A GREAT WEEK-END FOLKS! :carrot: |

Great work Gals!
I just finished a dog walk of 3 miles...Angie ran 5...it was hot here today...we waited for it to cool down...it was still over 80 tonight at 8:00! 65/75 MILES...almost forgot to post my 3 on Saturday! |
Great to see all of you moving so much! I'm slowly working up the weekly distance as my body gets used to moving instead of sitting all day. I'm aiming for 10 miles a week on the eliptical, which I've found is so much easier for me than jogging, and 4 miles a week doing walking/jogging intervals. So far, so good.
|
OMG too many days off. I ran outside here today and was HOT. What a concept - it's actually warm at the end of April - about time. Should have worn a tank top but I learned my lesson :)
3 miles in 34 mins, not all running unfortunately. Next time I am scoping out my run and not just taking off. I almost fell on some rocks when the pavement ran out and had to walk every time after that when there was rocks just in case. So with the hills that I hadn't foreseen and all that walking I am happy with the time. And I am way happy to be outside as well! 38.75/40 |
With work and feeling under the weather I took a 3 day break this weekend. I got back on the road today and ran 4.5miles.
44/42 |
Angie and I are going out with the mutts as soon as dinner settles in. She says we will only do 2 miles tonight...I guess she got her exercise in doing yoga earlier this evening...I think most of my exercise...after work...was twisting off bottle tops! Posting now so I don't forget!
67/75 MILES |
Started out the day with a 4.5mile run. Don't know if I will be able to get a run in tomorrow, but I am happy that I accomplished my April goal. Now I have to think of a May number.
Good luck to all. Thanks for all the encouragement. I always felt like I was an active person, but not being able to fit into any of the clothes in my closet made me reevaluate my diet and activities. I feel better and really enjoy the positive vibes I get from you guys. Keep up the good work everyone!! 48.5/42 |
JenJen n StillTryin, You ladies have really done awesome this month. WTG
MakeYour Own Plans, Watch for the May challenge and jump right in. This is a great group of people who will encourage you along the way. Cakeses, You've rocked it out in April too. Glad you were able to manuever through the rocks w/o getting hurt! Ennay, You always blow me away with the big numbers you rack up. I remember how difficult finding the time to exercise was when my children were younger. I surely hope you're proud of yourself. Baskgal, You surpassed goal. That's totally hip chick!! EZ, I twisted a couple tops of my own last night!! Any 5K's planned for this weekend? This weekend's all about dance recital for my youngest daughter and it starts already today with tech rehearsal. It'll take exercise and bottle cap twisting to get through.....ah, but it's worth it. She's just so darn cute! 1 hour and 45 minutes hiking through the woods today. It was terrific. Just me and the dog and I found dug roads I'd never been on before. I actually ended up coming out in someones back yard when I thought for sure I was heading to another corn or hay field! Whoops! Have a great day! 26 hours and 15 minutes of 30 hours |
Hi Gals ~ Angie and I got back a few minutes ago from a 3 miler with the dogs. I got home a little before her and took off with them, thinking she was running today, I saw her pull in the driveway...next thing I knew she was with us running gear and all! She knows I let the dogs "sniff" around for awhile. She had a walk planned today and a big run tomorrow. Good to have her company!
LOVNMOM the only 5K Angie and I have planned for the week-end is our normal 5K to Starbucks...we may do a walk at the college, a fundraiser...not sure...this one is kind of a "wing it". Angie has a half marathon/relay next week-end with her sister. Looks like I will be a little short maybe....nah! I will get 5 tomorrow somehow!! 70/75 MILES |
An easy 1.5 mile walk tonight rounds me out to goal for the month, with one day left to go. I am pleased I made it this time, but I want to do more. I took 14 days OFF this month - I mean come on! I can totally do 50-60 miles if I just walk or run every day or at least 6 days a week and don't take so many days off! Anyways, I am just going to slowly increase the mileage and see how I do!
40.25/40 |
Thanks lovenmom - good be reminded that hiking in the woods is exercise. I should plan to get off the treadmill and outdoors more often.
I'm aiming for 40 miles this month walking or jogging. |
thanks Lovnmom! ...dont look at the state of my house though;)
This short week Tues - 3.6 am, 5.5 pm Wed - 8.2 For a grand total and my highest month ever 183.0/165 :woohoo: 6.6/10 strollering - stupid hail/rain/snow :D |
4 miles with a friend today for another hour. That's probably all I will do today. That's ending the month a little short, but my intention with the 30 hours was to try and do something every day. As I look over my exercise calendar for April I have only 6 days blank. I know none of those days were spent just lying around so I'm happy with April's results. I also lost my 1# for the month goal so, once again a big shout out to all of you for helping me stay on track. I would not be able to do it w/o the support I get from all of you!!
27 hours and 15 min of 30 hours |
I MADE IT!
I made my goal for the month with a 5 mile day today. When I got home from work Angie was just about to go running for her 5 miles...so I grabbed the mutts...we all took off...Angie on the run and me and the girls sniffing the new news! Angie did 3.5 and caught us at the 1.5 mile turnaround. We all walked home from there. When we got home Angie stretched and did yoga for a half hour and I finished up with 2 miles on the treadmill! You have all done so well! I am proud of all of you...it was a successful month and we didn't lose LOVNMOM in the woods! :) 75/75 MILES! :carrot: see you in MAY  |
3.0 miles today, so I most definitely finished out over, yay!
43.25/40 oops forgot to add my evening walk, another 2.5 miles! 45.75/40 |
I did another 11 miles this week (Mon, Tues, & Weds) so my total is
57.75/45. I'll probably sit out for May because I'm going to try to focus on weights & swimming (yes, I've said this for the past 2 months!) Lovnmom, thanks for the well wishes! Congrats to everyone for keeping on moving!!! :carrot: |
