Ok - I did walk to get DD - I even took the "long way" - an extra .3 miles.. So I added another 1.8 for today. I'm just SO glad that the storms and tornado weather held off long enough for us! It started to rain about 15 mins after we got home!
We're not going skating tonight - my niece had something come up.. it's so tough to balance the social calendar of an 8 year old! DD and I are going tomorrow morning instead - it's her first time ever skating - and tomorrow is only kids 10 and under - better time - and 1/2 the $$ So that'll be from 10:30 - 12:30. Then After we're doing the 5K... It'll be a GREAT exercise day! :) I'm quickly making up for the first week of the month that I didn't walk my mile a day. If I keep pushing myself I'll BEAT my goal! :yay: |

A beautiful day here. I took the dogs out for 3.1 miles after church for another 3FC week-end 5K, then since Angie is in New York, and no games on yet I jumped on the treadmill for 4 miles and watched 2 Leave It To Beavers :)

I got in 15 min of some hard basketball defense Fri night helping my Dd 3 on 3 team practice. Did 90 min of hiking through the woods, fields, valleys etc... during the 3FC 5K today with my two youngest.

Weekends are nearly impossible to escape for a run due to our work schedules. However, I am always happy to get out there on Monday morning for a run. I am probably one of the few people who love Mondays!

I'm loving the freedom that comes from recording my exercise in hours rather than miles. I'm still walking far more than any other type of exercise, but am fitting way more yoga into my schedule than ever before. I did 4 miles with a friend yesterday. It was sunny and warm warm yesterday. Our forecast for the week is more of the same. Yippee!!! Gary, I can not tell you how awesome your 5K was. I'm just amazed at how you have personally responded to EVERYONE!!! Your effort really inspired a lot of people to go farther and do more than they thought possible. I just JOGGED a mile - for the first time EVER! I did Leslie's Samsone's mile jog at home - I'm tuckered out - but in a good way! :)

I took Monday off since my hip was screaming at me from Sunday's 5k and went back to running today. I could have squeezed in a 5k today but I don't want to push it, so I did a comfortable 2.5 mile run, total 3.25 miles. I think I will stay there another week or so until I feel really good about adding in more mileage. Seems silly, but that extra .60 miles is the difference between a hard but awesome workout and being sidelined for a day or two. Gotta work up to it!
9 weeks until DH comes for a visit. I really want to be at 3-4 miles by then and I think I can make that happen since I am comfortable at 2.5 now! I actually think that 5k woke up my body because I was struggling with 1.5 mile runs just a week ago. Thanks Gary!!! 21.25/40 made my halfway goal on time woo hoo! |

Today is going to be iffy. I'm working all morning and then spring concert and other sruff at school all afternoon and choir practice this evening. But, I'm going to try!!! Decided I was going to rest from running today so I hit the gym to try the bike for the first time. Ummmm yuck! Did 30 mins of that (5.25mi) then got on the TM to add in 1.5 miles (1 mile running). So I guess I won't have a rest because tomorrow I am going to attempt 2.5 again.

Baskgal, The trails around here are pretty soft yet and I don't ride the highway. Pretty much because I don't want my children asking why they can't when I do lol but a long bike ride sounds good. I can't waite. Enygirl, ENYTHING is better than nothing. Hope you feel better soon. Cakses Great job. You've been trying new things and improving each week. that's awesome! I went through the fields and woods yesterday for 40 minutes. I've never actually worn anything to see how far it is, but the first 10 min is literally straight up, but after that it's rolling fields and woods. A really lovely walk this time of year. Except I didn't walk it all!!! I actually jogged through the woods!! I am so proud.( a nice trail has been logged so the farmer can get his machinery from one field to the other) I never run outside just on the TM when the little wheel keeps going and I have to keep up. lovnmom - thanks SO much for the encouragement! You sound like you're doing great too. And the walk/jog through the woods sounds SPECTACULAR! I'm a little jealous. Although that has inspired me - there's a walking trail through a field behind our local library. If tomorrow's weather is as nice as today's I'm going to take DD for a walk through it. - so Thanks for the inspiration too! :)
I did 1.2 today - walked to DD's school - climbed, ran and played on the playground for about 45 mins and then walked home. We had a BLAST! :yay: I'm glad I'm feeling better - still not 100% though... maybe tomorrow. |

I knew I was tired from work but I thought I would be ok to run. It was a struggle but I got in 2 miles in about 22:30. Nothing amazing but I was just happy to finish it. I was going to attempt 2.5 but it's just too late in the day and I am hungry for dinner! So I will do my 2.5 on Sunday. Tomorrow I will be walking at the county fair.
Thanks for the encouragement lovnmom, I am trying really hard to improve both on time and endurance. I am just happy my body isn't too sore from my runs and I am way happy that in the last two weeks I have increased from 1 mile with a struggle to two miles with a struggle haha. One day I hope there is just enjoyment from the runs, but for now I enjoy it when I am done and see what I have accomplished! Oh, and I got myself new running shoes. I used them for the run and so far so good. Can't tell if I am in love with them yet since they're not broken in yet. I took a liesurely (3 miles in 1 hour and 10 min) walk on the bike trail with my daughter today. It had to be liesurely because she wore those silly skater shoes and she had rocks in them every few minutes. It was nice though and this is the kind of exercise I never would've have counted when I was tracking miles rather than minutes. In the past every mile had to be done in 15 min or less or it just didn't count. There were times with my children I missed out on having that attitude.
