Personal Trainer Interview Tips

  • I'm going in for a second interview for a personal trainer position at a fitness gym where I live. So, I was wondering if those in the field had some tips or questions that I would expect in the interview. I'm very excited about this. Thanks.
  • Cool Amanda! Good luck!

Who are you certified with? I just signed up to do a course with a final goal or certification for fitness trainer. I love it so far! Lots of info to learn though.

Let us know how it goes.

  • How are you going to start new clients?
    Maintain them?
Why are clients going to want to sign up for more sessions with you?
How are you going to bring more members in the club?
    Any history doing the above?
I know when I worked at a gym it was all about memberships, selling, and having their friends join (from a business prespective, I would want to know that our trainers had a high interest in helping the club be sucsessful).
    GOOD LUCK =)~
  • Kathy,
I'm not certified yet, I'll be a floor instructor first and then become in house certified and I'll get nationally certified with NASM first and go from there.

Those are great, thanks so much. This is most helpful.
  • Wow, good for you! I wish you luck. Have fun!

  • Ok, maybe this link will help:

I know it says starting a business, but it does have a section for getting hired at a gym.

  • Quote:
    then become in house certified
This jumps out at me. Tread with care if there's a fee (or an unpaid internship) involved in becoming "in house certified".

    Good luck.
  • Maria, there is no fee, I will be certified only for that gym but I will have to pay for the national certification. I will be paid during that time of training. Thanks for the concern.

Kathy-thanks for the link I'll check it out.
