I know it. I went out riding with a couple of cyclist friends on one of their old road bikes, and I went about a million times faster than I usually do on my ancient mountain bike. They took me on these long, slow hills that I couldn't possibly do on my bike without dying.

What kind of bike do you have, Ilene? I'm very tempted by the Specialized Sirrus, but there's a Trek model that could work as well. Both cost more than I can afford, but I have credit cards :)

3fcuser1058250 08-20-2007 12:46 PM

Baffled I have the Gary Fisher Monona, it's called a fast city bike... I love it!! I also put Aero bars on it and I can lean down and relax on long smooth roads...

EZMONEY 08-20-2007 09:01 PM

5 miles yesterday between treadmill and dog walks.

3.5 treadmill today.

SA-WEEET Bike ILENE!

baffled111 08-20-2007 09:47 PM

It is a really nice bike. I don't know if anyone around here sells Gary Fisher; Specialized and Trek seem to dominate the scene.

I just need to reconcile myself to putting another $500 on a credit card. I don't get paid until the end of September and I'm pretty much living on fumes. Argh!

baffled111 08-21-2007 11:17 AM

30 mins treadmill (300)
quick couple of sets of UB compounds.

FrouFrou 08-21-2007 03:19 PM

Sunday=free day
Monday=3.5 miles on the treadmill & 2 mile WATP
Tuesday=3 mile walk in neighborhood, 2 mile WATP & mowed front yard-30 mns. busy day to say the least.

mandalinn82 08-21-2007 11:00 PM

30 min elliptical - ow.
10 min arm bike - awkward!
20 min treadmill - ridiculously slow pace (DARN IT I WANT TO RUN)

60 min of cardio, nonetheless, though now I'm hurting a bit.

Last couple days I was off...remember the board announcement about the Woman's World story? Well, I'm it and was in LA for a photo shoot...normally this is not a problem (go for a run, hike the canyon, etc), but I DID work in a 45 min arm workout.

AMANDA  didn't catch it...what's up?

For me ~ 3,25 treadmill miles today

mandalinn82 08-21-2007 11:49 PM

The magazine was looking for a cover girl who lost weight through regular ol' diet and exercise. I did my interview on Friday, photoshoot Monday, and the article comes out in the Halloween issue (the cover photo shoot was all pumpkins, orange and black clothes, and the famous "fat jeans" picture...did you know, they use the same fat jeans for EVERYONE, and they have a 60 in waist? True story).

FrouFrou 08-22-2007 08:49 AM

I am impressed! You'll have to remind us/me, lol...when it gets ready to come out so we can grab it.

Got my regular 3 mile walk in this morning. Going to mow the back yard later since it is too early and still wet out. It takes 50-60 minutes to mow so a good work out for me again today.

Keep on truckin' ladies, and gentleman ;)

mandalinn82 08-22-2007 01:38 PM

Well, we're doing the surgery. While this means I'm likely going to be cardio-free for a good long time, its ok - the problem is going to get resolved.

Trying to be optimistic, can you tell?

EZMONEY 08-22-2007 09:19 PM

Don't forget to tell me when the magazine comes out KIDDO!

I did 3.25 treadmill miles today

Today is my 1 month weigh in ~

7/23 I was 201 today I was 193!

3fcuser1058250 08-22-2007 11:34 PM

No exercise for me today  Life and work is getting in the way grrrr...

EZ -- :bravo:

Amanda -- It is best to do it now and get it over with

baffled111 08-23-2007 11:27 AM

Argh. These early morning trips to the gym don't leave me enough time to do a full workout. So today I did 10 mins treadmill (100 cals) and a full LBWO for another 150 cals. It's funny. I'm literally shaking with hunger; I'm usually hungry after working out, but not quite this hungry. Bodies are different early in the morning, it seems. (My HR is higher doing cardio at 7am as opposed to 9 or 10 am... That's a bit of a mystery...)

FrouFrou 08-23-2007 02:47 PM

WTG Gary! :bravo: :woohoo:

Today woke up late so just did a little over a mile on the treadmill and my 2 mile WATP...better than nothing.

EZMONEY 08-23-2007 08:21 PM

Thank you ILENE and CRISTINA:)

3.25 Treadmill miles tonight.....

LIFE is getting in my way too ;)....but....because I am losing right now I am pushing myself....you KNOW the drill ILENE;)

3fcuser1058250 08-23-2007 10:10 PM

Yes, I know the drill ez  ...

Today I went to the gym but it wasn't an intense workout... I have to get back into INTENSITY ...

baffled111 08-24-2007 11:51 AM

Argh. I was running late again this morning, so I only got in half a workout. 20 mins treadmill (200) and 10 mins UBWO. Grrrrr.

My gym is going to be CLOSED for the next week!!! How dreadful is that?!

The college gym will be open for a couple of hours a day, so I might do that, OR, I might take the plunge and go and buy the bike I want. Or both. I just think the gym shouldn't be allowed to close for an entire week....

Diva 08-24-2007 01:16 PM

I wish I had y'alls dedication. I haven't posted in here because I have had a major lack of motivation and pretty much have given up on ever being thin again. Then I was watching The Biggest Loser previwes online last night, and reading some posts here on 3FC and for whatever reason, FORCED myself to get off my *** and exercise. Not to mention I have been one moody B-werd for the past week...I so wanna be like Ilene, Manda, baffled, and so many more. You are all my exercise heros. For real.

2 Miles- WATP's and some ball chest and tummy things. :smug:

mandalinn82 08-24-2007 01:34 PM

I think I am going to take my exercise ticker down. Its just depressing me, since there is no way to meet my time goals (I can only do arm lifting, and doing that every day is counterproductive to building muscle, so my time is cut in half).

This is very sad :-(

FrouFrou 08-24-2007 02:27 PM

 Mandalinn and Diva

Diva...I go thru the same thing. I will do great and then just lose my motivation. Then something snaps and I am back at it again. SO don't give up missy! Never, ever give up!

Couldn't go for my walk this morning. Woke up to rain so did my 2 mile WATP twice. Thought I would mix it up a bit. I don't want to get bored with exercising, or walking so...I may do a mile on the treadmill as well, later. We'll see how the rest of the day goes. I don't want to push myself too much either for fear of getting tired of it all.

baffled111 08-24-2007 10:18 PM

Poor Diva! Poor Amanda!

Diva, no waiting around for motivation. Move, move, move, move, move!!! But good job getting back on track.

Amanda, can't you at least go for walks? Or swim? I feel for you. When is the surgery slated for?

EZMONEY 08-24-2007 11:15 PM

Aw come on guys...er gals...we are in this together.

My son and daughter in law invited Angie and I to California Pizza Kitchen for dinner tonight....but I still...

rushed home from work and did 3.25 on the treadmill before we headed to dinner.... back in the old days there would have been NO treadmill....

WORK WITH ME GALS!!

FrouFrou 08-25-2007 09:31 AM

Good job Gary! :bravo:

Got in my 3 miles this morning and...the 2 mile WATP! Feeling good about that. But...I was dragging for sure. Guess not getting up early the last two days made me lazy, lol.

Keep on truckin' ladies and gents!

EZMONEY 08-25-2007 01:20 PM

Great job CHRISTINA!

I did 4.25 this morning! On the treadmill.

Edit ~ did another 2 miles before we headed of to church yesterday

SUNDAY ~ Did 3.25 this morning

baffled111 08-26-2007 07:11 PM

Hey! Where is everybody? I can't be the only one who exercised today!

33 mins treadmill (300)
UBWO (128)

I worked out at the college gym today because my Y is closed this week. I don't really like working out at the college gym--too many students--but it really is a super-nice facility. It's only a year old and they bought really expensive cardio and weight machines. Individual tvs on every treadmill and elliptical, tons of customizable features, shiny weights, pristine benches... And it's free. It is just too bad about the darn students!

3fcuser1058250 08-26-2007 10:08 PM

I biked 1.5 hours with DH ...

EZMONEY 08-27-2007 11:26 AM

Early treadmill work due to periodontist appointment this morning...minor surgery on one area ~ I hope! See how I feel after that then work...but for now.......

3 1/2 miles

mandalinn82 08-27-2007 03:48 PM

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Surgery can't be scheduled until September 13th - meaning I have 2 more weeks, PLUS a 4 week recovery at least, until I can do cardio again.

I
Am
So
Bothered.

Rationally, yes, we need to let the knee heal, we need to rest, whatever. But literally, the thought of 6 cardio-free weeks still ahead of me just reduced me to tears for a good 5 min. I believe that exercise is truly (in a good way!) addictive...the idea of being without it for 6 weeks (no adrenaline highs! no feeling strong and powerful on the elliptical! no stomping out aggression!) is really really upsetting to me.

Meg 08-27-2007 04:01 PM

Amanda, you can do upper body weights as cardio. :D Seriously, split up your upper body muscle groups into as many days as you want to go to the gym (example: shoulders, back, chest, and bi's & tri's for a four day split). Then do your exercises 1. intensively (lift heavy), 2. take very little rest between sets (15 - 30 seconds) 3. superset (two exercises in a row with no rest) and 4. throw in an exercise like 10 pushups, crunches, or bench dips between each set. I guarantee you'll get your heart rate right up to where it would be doing cardio. :)

mandalinn82 08-27-2007 04:23 PM

Oh I am SO trying that tonight at the gym!

Sweet Amor 08-27-2007 05:18 PM

Hi everyone! :)

I'm fairly new to 3FC -- my intro's posted here:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=120517

I hope you all don't mind me posting here to keep me accountable. School starts for me tomorrow and it's been known to keep me "too busy to work out"...but I want that to change! My goal is at least 30 mins cardio 3x a week and strength training at least 2x a week. That's been my plan during maintenance and it has been working really well. I would love to be able to run more days but I get burned out so easily. Anyway, I hope to be posting here at least 2x more this week! :D

SARose1961 08-27-2007 05:43 PM

I did really good this weekend, we did a 4 mile hike on Saturday and Sunday I did 30 minutes of weights and also a 4 mile walking tape at home. Now today I'm feeling pretty tired and my bad knee is sore <sigh>. Who knows if I'll be motivated to do anything this evening.

3fcuser1058250 08-27-2007 10:05 PM

:welcome: Sweet Amor

Tonight 1 hour of legs :strong:

mandalinn82 08-27-2007 10:27 PM

50 min UB/abs

I tried to make it cardio. My heartrate got up, for sure...but not up to my normal "cardio" level.

Oh my goodness ILENE...you really gotta shave more often ;)

Come on AMANDA...cheer up! Could be much worse! :)

Did a 1 1/2 mile walk with Angie and my retrievers after work tonight. Easy one for them with the heat.....

then they rewarded us by chewing up the remote for the DVD player while we ran to Target....nice girls....NOT!

baffled111 08-28-2007 01:22 AM

Grrrrr. I didn't make it to the gym today. The stupid college gym is only open from 12-5 this week, which is the absolute worst possible time. I'll go tomorrow though, come **** or high water.

Amanda, yay you for doing a good UBWO! Do you have a HRM? When I run, I usually hang out around 155, which is about 85% for me. When I lift weights, I usually find myself between 135 and 150. This is NOT the same intensity as running, but it IS in the high end of the 'fat burning' zone and the low end of my cardio zone. This means that even if it doesn't *feel* like cardio, your body really is getting, say, 80% of the benefit of cardio. And that is soooooooooo much better than nothing!

KatieK 08-28-2007 05:14 PM

2 hours
TM, LBW, ABs and Yoga.
Tomorrow is my day off, or I may make it Thursday.

3fcuser1058250 08-28-2007 06:13 PM

Gary -- Can't pass anything by you :lol3:

I am going out the door as soon as I type this to bike for at least 1 hour... I need to decompress....TTFN

EZMONEY 08-28-2007 11:43 PM

Took the dogs on a 2 miler then 1.25 fast one on the treadmill before dinner.
