Default new to the workout scene

Ok so I'm an athlete, but I've never been on a strict fitness routine before.

So I have the summer off from sports and decided to whip my body into shape.

And I just have once question:

How long of consistant exercise (a resistance training and cardio routine) and a healthy diet did it take you to lose a pant size?

2 weeks? a month? two months?

Just curious.

That depends on all sorts of things: where you lose your weight first, how much of a calorie deficit your 'healthy diet' is giving you, how many calories you're burning when you exercise, and what your metabolic rate is like. For some people it could be two weeks and for others two months. It's impossible to say. You'll have to start your diet and your exercise regimen and then let us know

p.s. Someone posed a similar question in the Support forum and you can see from the many different answers that this is impossible to answer definitively.

I can usually drop a size by losing 10 pounds (my clothes definitely get looser even by losing 5 lbs., though). With my current calorie consumption of 1500 per day, losing ten pounds takes about 10 weeks. However, I might be able to get down to a smaller size sooner if I tighten up with some resistance exercises.

If you're tall, I'd say you can count on maybe 30 pounds before a size change. I'm 5'11" and that's how much it took me to lose a size. Also, being tall, you can expect to lose more than the standard 1-2 pounds a week at first.

Ballpark figure, though, I'd say it takes about two months to change sizes.

If you haven't done so already, you might want to measure your progress to see where the weight is coming off from. If you are losing first in your upper body it will take longer to drop a size.

For me, I have lost 16 pounds and I'm still at the same size. When I measure myself I know why. I lost most of my weight in my chest, waist and hips and none in my thighs (my problem area). So while my jeans feel loose it still not enough to drop a size.
