Question Anyone tried Curves for Women?

Hi Friends! I am new to this forum. I am a 25 year old female who is trying to lose this last 10lb. I have already lost 60lb and have been struggling since Christmas. The fall is coming soon and I want to buy new clothes. I am sick of feeling like this. I know that exercise will help. Curves for women is coming to my town and I am thinking of joining. I am already doing Weight Watchers but I need to get moving. Has anyone tried Curves? How is your success? Love to hear from someone! Bye for now. Mandy3

Hi, Mandy3.

I joined WW in May, 2000, and joined Curves in November, 2000.

In January, I quit WW - after I got all the reference material for Winning Points that I thought I needed - and just kept my Curves membership.

I can't say I've lost much more weight since joining Curves - but I "have" gained muscle, so that probably accounts for the little change on the scale. I've tightened areas that haven't been that way in a LONG TIME!!

Anyway - I've found two older threads that will give you more insight into the Curves gym.

But, IMHO - I've REALLY enjoyed it, and have had no problem sticking with it for approx 9 months, now!

Good Luck!
- Beth

Mandy,

I joined Curves for Women last winter. I only lasted about two months because the hours simply didn't work for me. I work until 6, the gym was on the other side of town and they close at 7. They wanted me there at 6:10 so I would have time to stretch and they would have time to clean the machines when I was done. The lack of hours might not be true in your town, but it was the reason I didn't go anymore.

I did think it seemed worthwhile though. I didn't get bored because you are changing activities so frequently. I didn't have to try to keep up with an aerobics instructor and I didn't have to talk to other people if I didn't feel like it. I have about 133 lbs to lose and I felt like I was welcome. You move at your own pace too. There were also women who were extremely fit - so I would say it works for everyone.

You should check it out. I believe they offer a free week.

Hi Sharon..
I think the childcare depends on where you are and what the individual owners decide.
Mine here in Houston has a small room with loads of toys a tv and VCR, the wall looking out to the machines was replaced with plexi glass, it isn't supervised, but we can see our kids.
My moms Curves in Bakersfield CA. has nothing like that. She also has a really hard time with the women that own and run hers, where as I absolutly love mine...
I think they are all slightly different in the way they are run..
Good luck...hope you find one that works
