Took DD for a walk around the block (we live in the county). I will count it as 3 miles. I will check on my odometer tomorrow because it is at least 3.

I'm new this month. I'm aiming for 30 miles this month. I'm getting back into exercise after a pregnancy so I'm staying conservative.

Good morning! I've been away from this thread for TOO long (a whole week!) I am down-sizing my goal for May due to LIFE. I am a high school teacher, so May is always hectic. Add to that, the fact that we are moving to a new building on May 30 (before school is out!) and I'm taking a group of kids to Spain in mid-June. So much to do; so little time! I'm not going to stop, or this weight will come back. I just have to cut back. Anyway, my goal for May will be 80 miles.

May Goal: 80 fitness miles
Miles completed: 9.88
Miles remaining: 70.12

I checked today and a walk around my "block" is 3.5 miles...Yipee!

So, I walked it again today. Today however, I think I had my first ever panic attack. I was listening to my IPod and suddenly there was this huge dog (looked like a husky and maybe st. bernard mix) right up on me. Realizing no matter which way I went the dog was following me and I was in an area where nobody could come save me, I started to panic. I was hyperventilating (sp??), it was close to the same spot I got bit by in the pants leg by another dog a year ago last fall. I need to start carrying pepper spray. The game warden told me that is really effective on dogs and gives you time to get away.

Anybody else have similar problem? It stinks because when the weather is nice I don't want to be confined to my treadmill!!!

Goal: 50
Done: 9

Default Darn those frogs!!!

I went for a 5 mile run/walk last night. I ran the first three miles and then I had to walk the last two due to frogs. I started my run just as the sun was setting and about half way through my run all of the frogs decided to come out and play on the sidewalk (I live in Florida, we have lots of frogs). I couldn't bear the thought of squashing a frog and it's too hard to dodge frogs in the dark while running, so I had to slow down to a walk.

May Goal - 80 miles
Miles complete - 10
Miles to go - 70

Lori, carrying pepper spray is a good idea - not only for dogs but for mean people, too! I'm sorry you had that bad experience. I HATE irresponsible pet owners. There's a super mean dog in my neighborhood that needs to be put down or sent to doggie boot camp. He's pure evil. Or should I say his owners are evil for not training and socializing their dog. One of these days he's going to really hurt somebody - and it will probably be a little kid who runs over to pet him.

ahhh...exactly why I dont listen to music when I run, I live near dogs and speeding cars.. funny I JUST posted that this morning on the running thread

I do carry pepper spray, but I often have it in my camelbak pocket so I want to hear the warning barks.
