I used to walk outside, but I prefer the treadmill. I think I get a better workout that way, due to the ability to adjust the intensity with one touch. It is nice to walk outside every once in a while though.
I much prefer running or walking outside... I have run at 5:30am and around here there is no problem at all... I stick to the main and busier streets and it's surprising how many people are awake and heading to work or exercising at that hour...
I think it's a great idea what someone suggested to go out in your car to see what's up and about at that time...
