I found the propelene at Wal-mart the other night marked down to $6.00 and this is day two of using it and I have to admit it does curb you from wanting to eat in between meals. I know it is the glucomanna in it that does the curbing but I just wanted to let those who are interestd no that maybe the Wal-mart in your area has them marked down as well.
I worked at a call center that took orders for this product--as well as many others. I quit because I forced to read scripting word for word and I couldn't believe the things I was saying! And the women (and men) I'd talk to had heart wrenching stories.
My friend is currently taking diet pills--much to my dismay. They fill her up and she doesn't eat. But my husband and I were talking about this the other night. Diet pills do fill you up...but they won't work if you're an emotional eater. Let's face it, even WITHOUT a pill, you eat when you're not hungry if you're upset.
I STILL think that brand name is the most idiotic I've ever heard for a 'diet pill'.
And FrugalChick, you're right - I've had MANY days in my past where I ate well past the point of fullness - or didn't eat because I was hungry, but just because the food was there or for recreational purposes...KWIM?
This is too funny though...I was just thumbing through Lucky Magazine this week and discovered that a company named Apivita Natural Products makes a line of skin-care and cosmetic products called...PROPOLINE!
Can we say...lawsuit?
They are using the EXACT SAME NAME but I doubt that Aptivita has anything to do with the "Obesity Research Institute".
Plus I checked the US Patent and Trademark website and apparently their request to register the name "Propolene" as a trademark was refused. Apparently Aptivita has been around for 25 years. Not sure how long they've been using that brandname but apparently it's been very popular in Greece for awhile now...hmmm!
Nope - the bottles of the diet pill have the EXACT SAME SPELLING.
I did a further search on the US Trademark website and Aptivita has 'owned' the name as a trademark since May 2000. "Obesity Research Institue" tried to apply to use the name as a trademark and was refused...of course since they're ripping off people anyway by selling a very cheap and readily available herbal supplement as a 'new' miracle diet drug, heck, why not rip off another company of their trade name as well? These people aren't exactly known for their honesty and high business standards.
All I wanted to say was I got a deal on what people have said was expensive. It does make you feel fuller not that I still don't want to eat.... but at least it does help! I could care a less about the name.... as long as something works who cares? KWIM?!
I guess you all get a kick out making fun of someone!!!! This is terrible...I thought this was a support group not a make fun of you group! No, I don't believe you 2frustrated you intended to hurt my feelings. It worked! Are you happy? I am sure you are! Thanks ladies but I think I will leave this forum for good. Pat yourselves on the back. You did a really good job!
tkay--I was putzing around on here tonight, saw "propolene" and thought, "Huh?...as in polypropolene?" and, so I came on to see what in the world this was about. Now I see that it is a diet pill.
I just want to tell you how sorry I am you feel hurt by the other comments in this thread. While I can see everyone's amusement over the name of the pill, since I too thought it was something to do with polypropolene, I can also see why you would feel like you were being made fun of too, in a round about way. That's a lousy feeling, isn't it?
I don't know if it helps, but I don't think anyone intended to be malicious to you. I think that they just got carried away laughing at the name of the pill, and didn't consider that you might feel hurt by their amusement, having been the person who started the thread hoping to share something you were excited about. I have actually seen so much support and love and understanding around this forum that I was a little surprised that people weren't a a bit more sensitive to what your feelings might be when they commented on this thread. Still, I don't think that their intention was to make fun of you.
I know that doesn't change how you felt reading those comments, but I do hope you'll stick around and, like me, get some great support from some wonderful people. There really are plenty of them here! Hugs to you and good luck with your weight loss.
gees, don't be so sensetive, they were making funof the name not you. seperate your self fromt he pills you take. sometimes in the grim days of weightloss, you need to find something funny.
btw, this is the kindest messgae board I've been on. the other ones I visit are supper caddy and viscious. I get lots of help and support on here and I'm sure no one was making fun of you.
those skin care products look super cute I'll have to try and find them.
BoyoboyohhhhBOY!!!! Tina, it's the name of the stuff, not you for taking it....puleeze, lighten UP! Why don't you post about your success rate? Laughter IS support.....go to scale addicts anonymous and see how we all poke fun of ourselves (daylight savings time affects your weight.....)
