Suzanne - on the no fat diet - jeez, I've LIVED that. (and I don't want to live it again!!!)
Back in the No Fat Nineties (as I'm sure history will call that period) I was on a vegan diet which called for NO FAT. and I mean NONE. No foods that had it, no adding fat, and incidentally no animal or soy or flour products whatsoever.
My fat intake was probably around 10% or less of my daily calories:
Breakfast: Oatmeal
Lunch: Steamed veggies, brown rice or (plain) baked potato
Dinner: See lunch
Snack: Apple (my one fruit of the day).
Oh sure I lost weight...but my hair grew noticeably thinner and weaker, my skin started flaking (oh the ITCH in winter...Jim said it was like having an old dog sleeping next to him in bed since I spent the entire night scratching my legs and arms - no amount of Gold Bond would ease it...). Bleagh.
Yay for healthy fats!!!
