Fibromyalgia -#159

Hi to all of you.

I have been busy of late and on a weeks holiday as well.

We went to Jasper National Park, a beautiful spot for sure. It is situated in the mountains in Alberta. I have pictures lol

Yesterday, I went for the heart scan ordeal. It takes hours. I also had to fast from midnight on. The fasting is because as you lay down, the stomach and the bowel come up and over the heart in the scan pictures, so they need your stomach empty. Then they give you a shot of radioactive stuff and then two whopping big glasses of water before the scan. Two scans - one resting, the other after areobic exercise. Now, I have to wait for the results. Hopefully it comes back clear. Then I will have to look for another reason for the difficulty in breathing.

I went to my Naturepath finally. The Dr. doesn't seem able to help with the yeast problem I have. I have now started a homopathic treatment. I had to do an INNER KLEANSE DIET for 6 days (lost 5 pounds) and this past week I have started on a yeast free diet (down 2 pounds). I do hope that I can lose on this diet - that it keeps going.

I have to work tomorrow, and that is the first time in 2 weeks. Hope I haven't forgotten everything:o

Mima - Move down into the suite if that is what you want to do. As time goes on you will probably spend more time at your Florida place anyway. Brad will retire one day! Hope your stomach is feeling better.

Meme - just so busy. I have been like you for the past week. Running every which way. I hope you are feeling a little better and getting some much needed rest.

Joanne - Hi. Hope your hubby is feeling better.

Tammy - I am so glad that your work week is shorter for you. It is awful to feel terrible and have to go into work. Hope you sell your house. I hear that the US housing market is softening. Is it that way where you live? I almost died the other day, as the price of a starter home here is now $300,000.00. Yikes, I don't know how people pay for them. The mortgage rates are low NOW, but if they should go up even 2 percent people will be in deep trouble. The Bubble needs to burst!!! The cost of living has gone sky high as well.

I will go put this link into the other thread.

Joanne

Happy Canuk 09-26-2006 06:21 PM

We are now stickied here. We won't have to look for our thread. Makes it a bit easier. Monet asked if we would like it, so I said YES. Hope that is agreeable with everybody.

Tammy 09-26-2006 09:26 PM

Thanks for stickying us Anne! House prices are amazing. There are a couple homes down the street from our old one that have been for sale for about 2 years. The prices are over $250,000. Way to much for the small town. Ours is much lower.

Joanne, I had to laugh about your hubby and the tartar sauce! He and I could be buddies!!

Vicky, take care of your back!!! Mine hurts, but I think it will be better since I went to the chiropractor yesterday. He wanted to know why I had been moving furniture (I haven't) because it was so out of place.

Chris, please don't stop posting! I have problems around the holidays because my mother passed away right before Christmas several years ago. I'm doing better as time goes on. I have found that focusing on the things that are good in my life helps me to get through the tough times. My SIL used to be a Tupperware dealer years ago. I bought several things at the party last night, and I plan to use some of them as gifts.

I think I'll go read before I fall asleep. I already took a 2 hour nap tonight, so I should be raring to go!! not quite.

MemeToo 09-27-2006 04:24 AM

No one should stop posting because they get depressed this time of year ... gee ... that's what we are here for. Chris, this is why we are here, to help each other through depressions and bad times. You are not going to bring us down so don't be thinking that way. I lost my dad in November so I know the holidays can be difficult - I've lost both of my parents & my only bother and they always put a lot of emphasis on the holidays. I've had years to recuperate, though, so I don't get as depressed during the holidays now. Only 4 years since my mother died but I'm doing ok with that, too. I have my husband, 2 kids and 4 grandchildren. I focus on them. You just keep posting ... it helps to 'talk'.

Beautiful pictures, Anne. Hope your tests all come back clear and your diet works for you.

Tammy ... hope you're feeling better. It's hard to work with kids when you feel bad.

For years and years I've had patience galore, now, all of a sudden it seems, I find that I'm running out! I'm catching myself almost grinding my teeth or biting my tongue to keep from pounding on people. I have a new piano student - a woman - that ... seems like ... can't learn the simplest thing I tell her without me repeating it. She comes back the next week and says, I just can't get this, why can't I get this. I want so bad to say, "BECAUSE YOU'RE STUPID!!! I have 8 year olds who grasp this same material in 3 minutes!!!" I know, that sounds mean ... but it's true. She wants to play so bad, I hate to tell her she'll never play the piano because she's stupid ... what do I do??? Then I have trailer customers call and say, "How much d'ya want for the trailers?" I want to just yell into the phone ... "which trailer, idiot? We have about 20 different sizes and prices sitting out here!" Some mornings I wake up and I just don't want to have to deal with morons anymore ... and so ... I don't answer the phone. Ever feel like that?

(See, Chris ... I may not be depressed ... but I do get aggravated!) ;)

Mima 09-27-2006 06:27 AM

I know how you feel, Meme. I am telling you-you can have for a student. That will try your patience. That's why I retired at 60-no patience but the worst was that the kids were rude.
Talk about patience-Leah called and wanted to know if she could come and work for an hour-Brad said he didn't need her then-she called back and said our lawn needed to be mowed. I told her we couldn't pay out for everything-we are retired. Then she started getting nervous and wanted to know if brad needed her Mon and Fri. He called and said yes. I don't like it when someone is dependent on us for their employment. We will be gone in Nov-there is a fine line between helping out and caretaking. I have this fear of being used because I have allowed it in the past.
Anne-those pics are gorgeous. Sure hope those tests are fine. Have you considered asthma for the breathing.
Well, let's see about this IBS. I ate a Cortland apple yesterday-it was so good. A test for me to see if I react. I asked the doc about taking Tylenol pm and he said I could and I did and I got up at 5.am. Thank God.
As for as my allergies go, I was tested and nothing showed up with those skin tests but I have been tested before by a holeopathic doc and LOTS of things showed up. This pollen season has been bad because of all the rain.I am very wheezy today. Of course, all the dust from downstairs doesn't help.
Hey tammy-any word on the house.?
What I have learned-depression is when you are looking backwards and anxiety is when you are looking ahead-live in the moment. Of course, I do think we always need something to look forward to.
Bye Mima

Mima 09-27-2006 06:29 AM

I meant homeopathic. I also have had the chiro adjust my head with this pressure thing-wow-it hurts but it so seems to help the breathing. Going there today, Mima

Tammy 09-27-2006 09:00 PM

Hi gang! It is raining cats and dogs out there! Glad that I'm in the house. I'm feeling better! I couldn't believe it when I got out of bed this morning because the upper back didn't hurt at all. During the day it started to hurt just a little, but I took some Tylenol and that did the trick. I'm not going to school tomorrow so that will help. Bob and I are meeting with the retirement people. I want them to go over my application and make sure that it's filled out correctly.

The 2nd couple that went through the house, have now been through it a total of 6 times. They still haven't made an offer. I think that's strange. I hope the 1st couple gets their place sold soon, so they can buy ours.

Meme, I can relate to what you're saying about people!! They can be so frustrating!!

Mima, I used to take Tylenol PM. That was after my mother passed away, and then my dad had a stroke a few months later. I was a mess because I couldn't sleep. That was all before the Fibro hit.

Bob mentioned that he thinks he wants to try my chiropractor. He has never had much faith in them, but he is amazed at how much better I'm feeling since I went on Monday.

Jaleril 09-27-2006 09:07 PM

Anne:

I know where you are coming from with the breathing difficulty exams. I developed a problem last year, had heart scans, stress test, etc. and now am stuck with the unsatisfactory diagnosis of asthma which may or may not be related to acid reflux...maybe its my gall bladder...who knows! Sigh! All I know is that it gets worse when the seasons change and the one season I get a long period of relief is in winter. It's also not the breathing problem most people are familiar with, I don't wheeze. I just feel like I am not getting enough oxygen. It can be quite frightening.

Hopefully your doctors will find something that is more treatable...unlike mine! Imagine! Hoping they find something!

Vicky

Happy Canuk 09-27-2006 09:52 PM

Hi.

Meme - People can be very inconsiderate, that is for sure. And trying to teach a dummy is just downright frustrating. I have had to work with people like that, and try and train them. It darn near drove me nuts!

Mima - I had the pulmonary test and no Asthma.

Vicky - I am exactly like you. I don't wheez either. Just feels like I don't get enough oxygen. I used to walk so fast people had to run to keep up to me, and now I am lagging behind because I can't breath. The Respiratory Dr. diagnosed FM because Itested in 17 our of 18 points. Said the muscles in the sternum tighten up and causes this. It may be, but I don't really buy that. It could be allergies, or it could be one of the meds I take for Atrial Fibrillation (side effect breathing problems, fatigue etc).

Tammy - 6 TIMES!!!!! I hope somebody buys it soon. Nice to have the time off. Hope your retirement is all in order. I applied for Canada Pension and got it this month. That is a pension fund we all pay into federally. We pay a half and the employer pays half. Plus, some companies have company pensions as well. Canada Pension can be received at 60 but you have to take 30% less, which I did, because I can't work full time any longer and it will dwindle down and by 65 I will probably get the same darn thing as now.

Now, I bet you wanted to know all that lol

Hope you all have a good night.

MemeToo 09-28-2006 12:27 AM

Sure we did ... we want to know everything about you ... including the color of your socks! :p Wish I could retire and get paid for it!!! :D

I'm still going back and looking at those pictures ... unbelievable colors.

Trying day ... actually it's been a trying month and I'm really tired. I think allergies are runnng rampant for a lot of people this time of year. Won't be very long until most of the allergens will be gone here and I, for one, will be soooo glad. I dread to see the cold coming on but I welcome the allergy relief.

Supposed to go shopping with my daughter tomorrow. Looking forward to but dreading it at the same time. Need lots of energy for shopping ... don't have any.

Guess I'll go to bed and rest up for the "expedition"! Hope you all are feeling better 'n me. If you're not ... you're in pretty bad shape! ;)

Mima 09-28-2006 06:03 AM

Sure hope you sell that house, Tammy. I am going to have fun decorating my new scaled down house. Brad is giving me a room for my computer, What a guy.
We are going to VT this weekend-colors are beautiful. My brother has a sma;ll place but it is set up to bring the fifth wheel and plug in. I always have fun with them-they love yard sales etc and we have our meals planned. Nice to get away. Gas is so much cheaper noe.
You can get paid not to work , Meme, but you have to be 62 and have 40 quarters to collect. I get a pension from teaching-68% of my 1998 salary and a small ss amount. Problem -the cost of living is so much higher and we only get a raise on the first 12, 000 of the pension-not good. Fortunately, I have a husband who also collects. And works. Anne-we like to hear about you big time and everyone else.
Have fun shopping Meme. Love it!!! Mima

Mima 09-28-2006 06:06 AM

Anotherps-Try diaphramatic breathing for your lungs, You unhale and PUSH out your stomache and then raise the breath to your chest-Yoga breathing. I don't have real asthma -it drips from my sinuses into my chest and I wheeze. Never had an attack. But chest sure hurts.

Tammy 09-28-2006 04:51 PM

Vicky, a few years ago I was having problems like you, and the doctor thought for sure I had asthma. I was using inhalers twice a day, and finally I tried one that really kicked whatever it was that I had, and I've had no problems since. I was very lucky! My gall bladder bit the dust in 95.

Anne, wouldn't you think if you had gone through a house 6 times and brought relatives along to measure rooms, etc., that sooner or later you would make an offer? The man that we met with from STRS today was impressed that I had the application filled out completely. We had met with them in January, so we knew the type of retirement plan and health plans that we wanted. Also had the taxes figured out for them to deduct from my checks. He guessed right away that I had taught primary grades in school. He said, "No one prints that nice except 1st and 2nd grade teachers!!" I'll receive my first retirement check the beginning of March, 2007. Since I'll still be at school until Feb. 27, 2007, I'll still have 2 school checks coming. I believe every year, we receive a 3% increase on the base retirement amount that we get. AND just what color are your socks???? Mine are dark blue today.

Meme, my son's allergies have been worse this fall than they have been in years. He used to be on prescription medicine when he was little, and I told him that he just might have to consider it again if this keeps up. The OTC stuff just isn't working well. Winter will be better for him. Hope your shopping trip was a productive one! Nothing worse than going shopping, exhausting yourself, and then not finding anything worthwhile! After our meeting today, Bob and I drove to a Burlington Coat Factory to look for new winter coats. The store was gone!!!!!!!!!!! We were so disappointed! I guess I'll have to look somewhere else now.

Mima, the trip to Vermont sounds wonderful! I've never been there, but I'm sure it's beautiful. The leaves here are starting to change, and I love it since there is a woods behind our house.

Bob will start getting social security in 3 years when he turns 62. I'll have my first retirement check 2 months before I turn 52! I started teaching as a mere child. lol

Tim's girlfriend's b-day was yesterday. Her mom and little brothers had driven to the college to spend some time with her. About 30 minutes after they left, Tim, Jess, and some other friends were hanging out in her room. Jess was up on the bed hanging a new poster. She stepped off the bed and got her foot caught on the leg of her desk chair (they rock also). Tim said there was blood everywhere. She ended up at the emergency room. Tim called her mom, and she turned around and came back. Ended up staying the night. Tim took care of the brothers. Anyway, she has stitches and isn't allowed to go to classes until next Monday. Supposed to keep it elevated and not doing anything stupid. lol They're trying to figure out how to get her to the football stadium for the game Sat. We might pick her up and take her there. She won't be marching.

Mima 09-29-2006 07:56 AM

Oh, poor Jessica. I hope she heals quickly.
I am going to make a flourless cake today-saw the recipe on the Today show. No workers here today and it's raining so pollen and dust should settle. I think it's more the dust-You wouldn't believe how much it has accumulated. Of course I dusted and that made it worse.
Slept again in my own bed-Brad woke me up at 4 but I laid there and went back to sleep. Yeah for Tylenol pm.
Working on a quilt for Debbie-pink all over the place.
Leah has been kinda cool to me-she pushed my buttons the other day when she called twice to see if Brad needed her. I lost it and said we couldn't pay for everything, we were on a fixed income. I just feel she depends on us to give her the money she needs-and I get so nervous with all this money going out and nothing extra coming in. They went to do a job today and they will go back on Monday. That's ok because money is being paid.
Tammy-what percentage will you get? I retired at 60 with 34 years and got 68.8 % but the Cola is only on 1/3 of it. At least SS gives you a cola on all of it. I got granfathered in to collect but newer people can;t collect all their SS -it has to be offset in MA-we are trying to change that. I would be getting half of my deceased husband's if they did.
Have a good weekend. Mima

MemeToo 09-29-2006 11:29 AM

Sounds just like my best friend that fell off the ladder ... or rather that the ladder collapsed with and then fell on her! She is still on crutches and not able to work and won't be able to drive for at least 5 more weeks the Dr. said. She just got the stitches out of her arm this week. She's still in a lot of pain and about to go crazy with boredom. She's not used to sitting around.

I did find some good buys yesterday. I had a coupon for Dress Barn. $20 off for $75 or more. Daughter and I pooled our merchandise and we had more than $75 between us so split the coupon and saved $10 each, plus they had their sweaters buy one and get a second half price. I also had a coupon to save another 15% at Penney's. I bought hubby a shirt, me a blazer, 3 sweaters, a leather purse and a white lace blouse for Old Timer's Day at church Sunday. We're supposed to dress like they used to in the old days. I ordered a long black skirt from Penney's catalogue and this long sleeved blouse is perfect. It has little buttons & 'crinkled' material with lace running up & down the front. Big cuffs and a wide, 4" flat hem at the bottom that lays out over the skirt waist in the front. The black skirt drags the floor without my shoes. I'll have to wear heels. I also ordered a black, crocheted cape from Penney's. I bought hubby some blue overalls and a long sleeved white shirt that I'll put one of his ties with. Guess we'll be MA & PA! :D

Mima, I know you’ll be glad when that apt. is finished. I hate having something like that going on around me. Seems like you can’t get anything else done … there’s always a mess and people in your face. Sounds like Leah needs to find a ‘regular’ job that she can depend on … even if it’s just part-time. Maybe at a video store, theater or market or something. Perhaps you could suggest something like that to her … remind her you’ll be gone soon.

Don't know about this retirement thing. I don't know what I would do if I retired. Think I might get a tad bored. I'll be 60 next year so I don't have long. I'll draw off of what hubby has made ... it will be more than what I've put in. Ate too much yesterday. Had lunch with daughter ... chicken salad ... yum. Then came home and made Tacos for dinner and ate too much of that. Still feel full. Tacos always seems to make me feel full for a long time afterward. Must be the refried beans! ;)

Mima 09-30-2006 05:44 AM

Good morning-we are going to VT but not taking the camper-too much work for one night. Brad was happy-room is a bit high but that is an expensive area.
Leah walked off the job yesterday-far from home. She kept after Brad about the way he ws doing things and he wasn't feeling patient-so she left. She has done this before-it's not her place to do that. Boundaries again!! We were concerned about how she got home but she picked up her car later.
Went to married couples bible study-lots of laughs. Brad didn't like it as much-I am sure he wasn't there 100% last night after what happened. We will see-it's only every other week and we will be gone. But it ws nice to get to know people.
What a shopping trip, Meme. All those new things!
Hope we see some good scenery. VT is so beautiful. Mima

Happy Canuk 10-01-2006 10:39 AM

Good morning.

Mima - hope you have a good trip to Vermont. That's a place I would love to visit one day. I hope you can let some of the sress with Leah go while you are away.

Joanne- I was reading the Diabetic thread this morning and somebody had posted this diet. You might like to read about it. Sounds good, and reasonable.

http://health.msn.com/centers/diabet...44872&GT1=8555

Hi to everybody else. Have to go and clean my house as I am having company in a little while:dizzy:

Mima 10-01-2006 02:43 PM

Back from VT early because of the rain. We took 4 hours instead of 2 to get there because we missed the route. So we couldn't do everything planned. But we did go to lunch, go to the top of Mt Stratton and go on a gondola ride-go to Mass -go out for dinner and then to the motel, This morning my brother cooked a great breakfast, although we found out we could have gotten a great breakfast at the hotel-Then we headed back-stopped only at one store-because it was POURING> Now we are just vegging out.
Haven't heard from Leah-maybe she's too embarrassed or maybe she's upset. It certainly was getting to be too much. I ma glad Brad didn't recommend her to an oil company if she can't take working for someone else.
Hope the weather is nicer where you are. Mima

Tammy 10-01-2006 02:48 PM

Mima, I believe it is 66%. The COLA is 3% each year, and it is based on the base payment. A 3% increase is more than our school board has given us over the past 4-5 years.

Meme, your shopping trip sounds great!! Good for you!! I'm looking forward to retirement because then I can do more of the things that I don't have time to do now. I'd like to do more with the church. The women's group has their meetings during the day, so I've never been able to attend. I'd also like to volunteer with Hospice or at the local hospital. Some day I might decide to substitute teach, but that won't be in the near future.

Anne, hope you were able to get the house ready for your company. I was looking around here and thinking I should be doing the same thing. I work M-W-F this week, Tues. I have a couple of appointments, and Thurs. I have a doctor's appt. Thurs. afternoon will be cleaning house time.

Tim is coming home next weekend, and I don't want the place to look terrible. (Not that it looks that bad really). Maybe I'll go get started on the straightening up a few days early. I guess that wouldn't hurt, right?

Tammy 10-01-2006 07:11 PM

Mima, we must have been typing our messages at the same time earlier!! Sorry that it rained for your trip! It is beautiful here today, and it's supposed to be about 80 most of the week.

Last night during the first quarter of the football game, they had to evacuate the stadium because severe weather was on its way. The sky looked awful! Luckily no tornadoes right in that area. They restarted the game after an hour, so we went back for the rest of the first half and for the halftime show. The band did a Beatles medley, and Bob and I like the Beatles. Tim know we'd enjoy it, so he was hoping that they'd get to finish the game. He and Jess came over afterwards, and we all went to IHOP for supper at 11;00. Way too late. We had a snack before the game to hold us till then. chex mix for me and a diet mt. dew. Yummy!

Kramer is home from the doggy hotel, he's had a bath, and his blankets and bath towel are in the washer. Now I'm ready for bed!! lol

I might have to check out that site for diabetics.

Mima 10-02-2006 05:32 AM

How many years did you teach, Tammy?
It was beautiful on Saturday-they have been wrong 2 weekends in a row.
Don't know if Leah will show up this morning, Praying that we will say the right thing.
Podiatrist today-eeeeek! My chiro told me to prepare for a long wait. He knows the doc. Good thing I have a new Ted Dekker book from library. I will also bring something else.
I have been eating some things that have been forbidden for a year. But I need to take it easy. Don't want to get in trouble.
Hi to everyone. Mima

Joanne D 10-02-2006 07:09 PM

Hey There

Happy- Thank You for the diabetic site. It was just what I was looking for...There are a couple more classes that I am going to take.I have started paying more attention to labels. It is surprising how many of the can veggies that has surgar in them. I am not sure how I am going to handle that little problem as I am not going to start cooking everything from scratch.
Tammy- When you retire you should have a lot more time to do more things to help you with your health problems.. I did not start to get serious about my weight till I retired from nursing.Ofcourse I had to have a knee replacement first. That really let me know that I had to get busy.
Mima- Is Leah a relative? Sounds like she is leaning on you a lot.. Come on down to Fl. The weather has been great lately..
Meme- You never know ..You may be ready to retire for long. If your hubby retires you will probably be right behind him. I did . It just took me 8 more years..And then because the Dr. said I had to..
Bye...Joanne

CarebearsChris 10-02-2006 08:11 PM

How much exercise do you all get? I am finding it hard to exercise with my FM. I am trying to walk but some days it seems impossible. I have a treadmill which I thought would make it easier...but it isn't.

Joanne, I think frozen veggies are better than canned. Too much sodium in them. Personally, I like fresh veggies cooked to just done . It is important to read labels, for sure.

Chris - I have a terrible time with exercise. My back doesn't hold up to that at all. I try to walk when I can, but with the pain and fatigue it isn't that often. I know I need to get moving.

I am off to bed. Hope you all sleep well.

Mima 10-03-2006 06:22 AM

I try to walk but only for a half hour. It does help.
Well I went to the podiatrist-talk about pain and almost passing out-finally he gave me a shot but that too was painful. But it's done.
Funny-on the way home, I found some cabinets like the ones Brad is going to install-called him and he came to get them-about 500$ worth, even if we have to buy the doors. Another person's junk can be a treasure!!!
Have to soak my toe twice a day and go back in 2 weeks-hope it doesn't grow in again-it was infected on both sides. Waited too long!
Leah is Brad's stepgrandaughter-like Jessica is to me. Problem is that she;s not good on boundaries. And she's young-25-think she knows everything-most young people are idealistic but they learn to conform. She will continue to have a hard time if she doesn't learn that. I am praying for her and us that the situation is resolved but I hope she doesn't work here-Brad is soft and I'm not. But we need to forgive because she doen't know what she's doing but we don't have to let her do it again.
Mima

CarebearsChris 10-03-2006 11:46 AM

I, too, could not walk for a long period of time. Here is what I do. I get on the treadmill, several times a day. Might only do 3 minutes but it is 3 more times that I would have done if I was sitting on my butt. But by doing it several times a day (4-5) I can get 15 minutes or so. I try to do 5 minutes at a time. Sometimes I manage 5 sometimes I don't. But I am moving some.

When I retire on Feb. 27, I will have taught 30.39 years. I graduated in Dec. of 76, and I did some subbing in the spring of 77. That's where I got the .39. Which Dekker book are you reading?

Joanne, I know on the days that I'm not going to school, I am doing more walking and exercising since I'm not so tired. My goal is to get into the Y more often too. The water aerobics two nights a week has been wonderful.

Chris, I walk at school and at home. Sometimes it's only for 10 minutes, and that's ok. What you are doing is exactly what my doctor told me to do. Little bits of walking many times during the day. It adds up!!

Mima, ouch to the podiatrist!! Do you want us to look him up and hurt him for you???? Hope things work out with you and Leah. I agree that she depends on you an awful lot. Any other relatives you can sick her on???? (Boy, I'm being mean today, aren't I???)

I got to move my butterfly two spots today! Need to get past the 10 by the time I go to my family doctor in November. He said 12 pounds when I was there in August. Well, I'm closer than I was I guess.

Hope you are all having a great day!!

CarebearsChris 10-03-2006 02:47 PM

Tammy,

Congrats on moving the butterfly the right direction. Good luck making goal.

When I got the dx of FM I was sent off to the rhmey. He was as useless as can be. He didn't give anything to help me cope. Never told me to exercise a couple of minutes at a time. My personal doc thought I was getting all I needed from the specialist. So what I have learned in pacing myself has come by trail and error. So many times I would clean house or exercise and land in bed for days. Now I know I can get more done if I do it a little at a time. Wish I was told that years ago.

Chris, I wish you lived closer so you could go to my rheumatologist! She is great! I have another friend who is going to her for the first time next week, and I'm sure she'll be able to give her some advice. Also if we lived closer, you could come to the Y with me to the water aerobics class. We really have fun.

My goal is my mini-goal. After that, I'll add another 10 pound tracker on here till I get to the real goal.

CarebearsChris 10-03-2006 10:43 PM

Thanks, Tammy. It seems so much easier to have small goals. I think between my new family doc, shrink and counselor I have a better handle on the FM. Now if I can just make it thru the holidays I will be ok. I hate all the holidays this time of the year. If I had my wish I would go to bed about now and wake up in March or so. Not going to happen I am afraid. Hopefully this new counselor can come up with a better plan for me.

Advice on the holidays-celebrate differently than you usually do-give to a shelter-volunteer for something-wahtever it is, make it different.
And congrats to Chris and Tammy for the weight loss. I think I have gained a bit since I can eat more foods.Walking with Auntie today.
The reason I am asking about your retirement, Tammy is that my gf is working on it for MA. My next queation is if you can collect SS. We can't although I was grandfathered in.
Chris-that exercise is great-it will boost your metabolism.
Let's see-roofer coming. someone to help Brad finish sheetrock-former Pastor actually, and guy that finishes sheetrock coming tonight. Money is flying out of here. And I have started my Christmas shopping because we will give out the gifts before we go. I finished the quilt yesterday-it's adorable-pink check on one side and 12 inch squares of horizontal and vertical stripes of pink, green and pastels on the other with a border of pink checks. Love to make quilts.
Have a good day all-Mima

Tammy 10-04-2006 08:19 PM

Mima, I can't collect SS. I know there is something about not being able to collect if something happens to your spouse with SS. I'll have to ask Bob. It's all so confusing. That quilt sounds beautiful!!

I may be changing my last day of teaching from Feb. 27 to Feb. 28. My new health insurance won't start until March 1, so I would be one day without insurance. Not sure that I want to take that chance. I guess 1 day won't make a big difference if I have to add it to my total.

Water aerobics was fun. There were only 5 of us there tonight.

I've had a headache for 3 days now and haven't done hardly anything ... haven't been out of the house since Sunday.

Congratulations to anybody who is losing weight. I was eating the house clean yesterday and Monday. Not too much today though, been kind of sick at my stomach with this headache. We've had too many sweets around. Been baking for church things and for the kids and having left-overs. Have another BD party tomorrow night ... hubby will be 61 tomorrow. More cake ... GROAN.

Should have seen all the ladies in their long dresses and bonnets Sunday ... was quite a site. I didn't wear a bonnet but I wore my long black skirt and old-fashioned white blouse. It was fun ... but now what do I do with the outfit??? :p We are having a man try out for pastor a week from Sunday.

The next two weeks are school break weeks for our county. Hip Hip Hooray! I don't teach when school is out for break so I'll have two whole weeks off. Hubby and I are going to Fall Creek Falls State Park Lodge for a couple of nights the last weekend of that. It's on a lake and really beautiful up there this time of year. I've already made the reservations.

Well, it's 3 A.M. Guess I'll go to bed and see if I can get some sleep.

Mima 10-05-2006 06:11 AM

Hope your headache clears up-sinus?????
PTL- a friend of mine, MaryAlice, does not have breast cancer. That was a scare.
Walked with Auntie-she is still not feeling 100% but she doesn't know what she can't eat for diverticulosis. I am trying to tell he but she is a hard sell.
Putting in a skylight today-Brad's had the thing forever-we will get the upstairs fixed and have to move downstairs. I am sure that the dust is causing my asthma. Ordered 3 inhalers-had to pay 105$ for them-my insurance has gone way up. I wouldn't have ordered 3. Don't even know if I need them.
Well, Tammy, Ohio must have same rule as MA. about SS. and your pension.
I need to clean today but can't dust because of asthma.I am going to lunch on Sat so I could have the girl across the street come and dust.
Waking up at 4 again.
Bye for now Mima

Good morning.

Meme - hope that darn headache goes away soon. I think they are the worst, as that pain is always there, whether you are up or laying down. It's so nice to get away for a few days - especially in a nice setting. I always find when I go to the mountains, I just feel at peace.

Mima - I hope you can get all the dust settled soon. You have now decided to move downstairs? When are you leaving for Florida this year? My brother and his wife have already left for Arizona. That is where most people from Western Canada go during the winter. The Eastern Canadians go to Florida.

Tammy - I guess I wouldn't allow a day to go by without health insurance. That would be the day you needed it!!! Canada has a wonderful health care plan. Everybody gets equal treatment and it covers just about everything.

Hi, Joanne and Chris and Candice.

I am going to try to work full-time for 5 months. I told my boss I didn't know if I could do it or not, but I could try and see. She agreed. Acutually, I told her I want to work Mon, Tue have Wed off and then work Thurs and Fri. It involves sitting, standing and walking so it might be ok. It is the 8 hours that worries me!!

Hope you all have a good day.

Tammy 10-05-2006 04:58 PM

Meme, hope you get rid of that headache! Your trip sounds nice. We don't have a fall break around here. Of course, some people think I'm always on a break!! lol Happy B-day to hubby!! My hubby just turned 59 a couple weeks ago, so they are pretty close in age.

Mima, wonderful news for MaryAlice! I'm sure the dust isn't doing you any good. Hope you feel better soon.

Anne, having Wed. off sounds like a good idea. I can't believe how much better I'm feeling this week by going M-W-F now. I've done things on T-TH, but it's not as exhausting as being at school.

Went to the rheumatologist today. She gave me a prescription for a patch to wear on my lower back 12 hours a day to help numb it. That is my main complaint right now. Also, I'll be seeing another doctor for an injection into my back to help with the arthritis pain. Some days I can tolerate the pain, but others it hurts so bad that I cry. The kids have been great at school because they know when I'm hurting.

Mima 10-06-2006 06:34 AM

I hope that gives you relief, Tammy.I am hurting also-I think climbing into the car to drive-it's a small SUV=hurts my right leg. I will use a stool like I do to climb out of the tub-Big tub!!!
Now Brad doesn't want to move downstairs-says he will when we have to . It's ok with me=less work. He said he has spent so much energy on this place, he wants to enjoy it. I think that is a good reason. Maybe he will actually finish the plugs etc!!!He was going to have to do that anyways.
Roof is done-now he has to come back and do the skylight. last time he didn't come back for 2 years.
I am reading Thre3e and there is another book waiting at the library. Love those books.
My asthma is better-no working downstairs during the day. And it's gotten colder. Not good for fibro but good for breathing.
I have worked 8 hours a day but get really tired. Wed off sounds great. You can't get away from it-Fibro makes you tired.
Hope your head is better, Meme.
Happy Thanksgiving-Anne! Hi Joanne. and everyone else. Mima

Happy Canuk 10-06-2006 05:03 PM

Hi Mima. So now you get to stay upstairs. Well, like you say, it will make things easier for you. Also, living in basements in damp and cool and sometimes musty and moldy. I think you are much better off upstairs, considering all your allergies. Glad your Asthma is better at least. I think our cars depend on our height. I have a Honda CRV and love it, as I can just slide right in. In the car, I had to bend down and that killed my back. My girlfriend is 5'2" and she has a hard time getting up into the CRV.

Yes, Monday is Thanksgiving. We are going to Edmonton for the weekend and will spend Thanksgiving there. Turkey time:carrot: I can't eat much of the dinner, other than the turkey and the veggies, as I am in the process of getting rid of all this yeast that has invaded myself. I am feeling MUCH, better and MUCH more alert since I started it. My energy levels are coming up and I AM AT LAST LOSING SOME WEIGHT. I think if I can lose a couple of pounds a week I will be more than happy. My Naturpath is looking after this, as the Diflucan just doesn't work. This is a looooong process - up to 3 months to get it gone, but it is worth it. In the mean time, no sugar, starch or yeast type things. Just lots of veggies, protien, one slice of yeast free bread at each meal, and a piece of fruit. Yogurt and nuts and seeds in between meals. I sure am NOT starving, and it is working for me.

Tammy - what kind of a patch is that? It is confirmed, I will now be working Mon, Tue, Thr and Fri from 9:00 - 5:30p.m. If I find I can't do it, I just need to let the boss know and she will change it for me. This is quite a test:dizzy:

Meme - hope your headache has left you and that you are gearing up for a busy weekend. I prefer you busy to sick!

Everybody have a nice weekend.
