Fibromyalgia #158
This is Mima's post from thread 157
I was wondering if you were going to get to see Tim. Brad loves Bluebunny icecream. I sent in my application for subbing. I didn't get a letter to score the test this time=not many people took it. But there is a new company that owns the company that administers the test and there have been some changes. People are womdering. I miss my friends there. But subbimg pays 85 a day and I get to eat and sleep at home. Just wonder if I have the patience. Suzanne and Jon are having difficulty-please pray for them. I have been a little depressed over the situation. But praying, praying. It's an adjustment period. We are going to the movies today to see Little Miss Sunshine. It's raining and cold. I think FL will give me a break but its two months more. Gotta get that apt. done. Hi Joanne, meme, and Anne. Mima |
That didn't work so good now did it :D
Mima - sorry that kids are having problems. I hope they can work them out, but if not, I guess you will still be a grandma. Things have sure changed over the past years, in the way people live. Tammy - glad you got your boy home for the weekend. Meme - hope you enjoy your trip. I know you're tired, but they say a change is as good as a rest, so hopefully that will be true in your case. If not, take of next week and just REST!! DO NOTHING that you don't choose to do. YOUR CAN DO IT! Been doing a little housecleaning here. I have teak furniture that requires an oiling every so often, so yesterday was the day. It looks so nice today. Also had to clean our the china cabinet part of my shelf. Washed everything and now it is so nice and sparkly. I now have the living room and dining room done! Next on to the bedroom. Hope you all have a good day. |
Hey Girls- I guess everyone has planned a Labor Day party. Our son invited us to his house tomorror. I will take a fresh salad.. Our Daughter and her hubby have gone camping.. Otherwise everyone be safe...Joanne
|
Mima, I hope Suzanne and Jon can work out their problems. I can understand how you would be upset, but just keep praying. I'll continue to keep them in my prayers. Subbing is something that I may do sometime in the future. After I officially retire Feb. 27 though, I don't think I'll sub any during the remainder of this year. I bought some Blue Bunny sugar free banana split ice cream at Wal Mart today. Bob rarely eats IC so I bought what I wanted.
Anne, it was great having him home. He had a couple of home cooked meals, and he said he sure misses that even though he said the food at school is good. He and Jessica went to a church this morning, and they were welcomed with open arms. He said he knows they will go back. We'll be over there next weekend for a football game and staying overnight again. I'm planning to go to church with them. Not sure if Bob will. He rarely goes to our church here. Anne, come on over and clean our place!! Joanne, we'll be staying home, except for Bob mowing at the other house. |
This is so nice, I wanted to share it with you.
http://www.mayyoubeblessedmovie.com/ Not doing much for labor day. Did get my dining room and living room all cleaned now. Got all the furniture (teak) oiled so that is a job done. Enjoy your day tomorrow Joanne. |
Hi guys and thanks, Anne.
We had a good day yesterday=church-a nap-dinner and the movies. Saw Little Miss Sunshine and cracked up=only bad thing was the language. Today will be just a regular day except Leah is not working. I find that a lot of stress even though she has been such a help. Tomorrow I get my nails and hair done and WEd I will go with Auntie after chiro. So nice that you can see Tim 2 weekends in a row, Tammy. I was thinking that I need to get a bag of tricks ready for subbing. Like tranquilizers for me, I am hoping that these kids are easier than the inner-city ones I had. Hope and pray I have the patience. Nice cleaning Anne!! I do that sporadically. Have fun at son's house Joanne-sure nice when someone else cooks. Next 3 weekends will be busy-2 bd's for one year-olds. Church picnic-flea market at church and then the Fair on the 23rd. I need to finish my crafts-oh, I said that before. Brad found a nice piece of lattice work at the dump and he is going to put a stand on it for my wreaths, He will also help me set up the Fair-and take it down/ Lokks like we will not come to FL til after Thanksgiving. Want to get the apt done and rented. Bye for now Mima |
Anne, good for you on getting things accomplished! Oiling all of that wood has to be a chore. I did some dusting this morning in the living room which involved moving around all sorts of knick-knacks. That in itself was a job! lol I'll have to check that site.
Mima, you sure stay busy! Always on the go. When did you go to FL last year? I can understand that you want to get the apt. done and rented before you leave. 2nd load of laundry is in the washer, Bob is mowing at the old house. I'm going to try to pull some weeds without hurting myself. Could be interesting. The biggest chore for the day is going to be switching purses. I bought a new one yesterday. I emptied the old one, and now I"m wondering if the one that I bought is going to be too small. Why do I have so much junk???? Had an email from Tim talking about Spring Break already! I thought he'd want to go somewhere with Jess or some of the guys. He wanted to know if we (as in the family) could go away. His break is in March, and it's right after I am officially retired. Might be a neat idea! He did mention that it would be nice if Jess could go with us. lol They've been together 3 years in October. It won't surprise me if they end up getting married, but I sure hope it's after they are out of school. |
Well I'm back. Long, tiring trip but it was all good. Lots of groups sang and did a good job. Have any of you heard Tim Lovelace? He performed last night. Cracked me up. He's so funny. There was a lot of 'funny business' there. Performing at the Grand Ole Opry on Sat. night was: John Conlee, Steve Warner and Vince Gill among others. Our seats were only 12 rows from the stage. I couldn't believe that. The rooms at the Opry Hotel were fabulous, of course. That place is so big we walked ourselfs to death - I think I've actually lost weight. ;) Isn't the first time I've been there ... we've been a couple of times and walked through to see the Christmas lights and then hubby's bosses daughter was married there and the reception was in one of their ballrooms. The ballroom the concert was in held seated 2000 people ... just to give you an idea how big this complex is. Then breakfast was in another ballroom nextdoor. They had big tables set up to feed half of those people between 7 and 9:30 A.M. Just imagine that! The Grand Ole Opry House seats about 10,000 people, then the Opry Mills Mall is also next door to all that. Inside the holel is also an atrium with fountians and plants and a small 'village' of shops with restaurants, icecream bar, cookie house, gift shops, etc. and other things all through the hotel. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, spa, sauna, beauty palor and exercise rooms. Everything you need in one place.
Anne, I need to clean (and clean out) so bad. Maybe now that my last trip is over I can do that after I rest up for a couple of days. I'm taking tomorrow off, for sure. My daughter told me she is going to cook dinner for me tomorrow night. She gave me my choice of nights this week and said I should probably pick Tues. since I'd probably be tired after my trip. I took her up on it. Don't know what she's making (don't care as long as I don't have to cook!) :p Tammy, I bet your son was glad to get home in his bed and to your cooking. I missed my bed so bad. I enjoyed the shows and our friends and stuff but I missed my bed and home. I think it's so great he wants to go somewhere with his family on Spring break. You must be doing something right! :cheer: Joanne, hope you had a great day. It's always good when we can go to our kid's house and just take something and LEAVE the mess (like they've been doing to us for years). I just love that! Are you feeling better? Mima ... you'll be in FL soaking up the sun before you know it. (Then you'll be running around getting things done down there and stressing out about what's going on back home.)! :D Hope you get your basement done soon. I hate having an unfinished project going on in the house like that. So, if you get a job substitute teaching, are you only going to be doing that for 2 months? Guess I'll get in my nice, soft, warm waterbed. Can't wait any longer!!! |
Actually, three because we don't think we are leaving til after Thanksgiving. Brad doesn't need pressure to get it done by November. Bobby wants to come for Christmas , maybe Suzanne. She and Jon are going to cool it and just be friends for now. Talk about pressure. I am putting it in God;s hands and praying for a miracle. he has His own plans for them/
That hotel is gorgeous-we walked through it when we were in Nashville. And huge!!! Glad you got to hear all that nice music. I actually slept more than 8 hours-did take a walk yesterday. Boy, did it hurt!! My hair appt was cancelled-family emergency-guess I will have to get a seeing eye dog. Hey, Tammy, you will be on break too-retirement break. Being retired sure frees you up . The first thing I did was go to FL and then I was a chaperone for my step-grandaughter's school to go to Washin gton for 4 days=never had been!!!! Hi Joanne-how was the cookout, Hi Anne-I bet your wood looks nice. Mima |
Hey There
My son fried fish ..His wife made potatoe salad and banana pudding(I didn't touch it, too fattening). I made a tossed salad. It was a nice day.. He lives on a inlet to the Gulf so he fishes all the time he has free.He has loved the water all his life..
Got a Dr. appointment today.. Guess I will drop off some books and maybe get some more. I went out to get the paper this morning. It was cool, not steaming today.. Hope cool weather is on the way.. Meme- I would love to go to the Grand ole Opry.. I watch it every sat. night. It was a repeat this week on T.V.I have been to Tenn. a couple times but never got there. Mima- What ever happens with the kids may be for the best. If they aren't sure it is best to step back. Is she the daughter who is going to have a baby?At least when you come to Fl. it will be cool. Tammy- You will enjoy your retirement... You may find yourself really busy..I was still working when my hubby retired.. He got depressed and I had to really be on my toes. My director of nursing told me to buy him a dog.. It was the best thing I could do.. We had it for 14 years.. No more though. Too much work for me..He is not a person for hobbies.. Now ,I chase him out into the yard to work.. Hello Happy...Joanne |
Joanne ... if you ever see one with Vince Gill hosting parts, Steve Warner hosting parts and John Conlee hosting parts and then Legacy Five singing a couple of songs inbetween, that will be the one we were at last Sat. night ... they taped the whole thing! Vince told a joke that he said his wife, Amy Grant, told him to tell because so many people would be there from the Legacy Five concert. He said it was her favorite religious joke. He said a man was shipwrecked and stranded on a desert island. When he was rescued they found he had built three impressive dwellings. They asked him how he had done all that and they wanted to know what they were for. They asked him what the first one was for and he said that one is my home. They asked him what the second was for and he said I've always been a very religious person and that one is my church. Well, there was another hut way on down the beach so they said what's that one way down there. He answered, Oh ... that one down there is my 'old' church. :D Thought you might like that!
|
Hey There
Meme- Thanks ,That was good..I think Vince Gill is one of the best.. I will watch for those shows . Also look and see if I can spot you...
My glucose is 135.. The Dr. was concerned. my trig. 305..High to say the least. Colesterol 251 also high..I do it all again in 2 months.. I seem to be falling apart all of a sudden. My B/P was down.I guess I am heading towards being diabetic..I will be looking again for diabetic diets on the net tonight.. I told him I was on S/B diet which he said that was good. Bye for now...Joanne |
Hi everybody.
Mima - things usually work out as they are supposed to. In the book, Don't Sweat The Small Stuff, they talk about how God has a plan for everybody and the DNA of that particular baby is as it is supposed to be - married or not. I hope, if they don't make a good match, that they just walk away. No point in compounding a problem. I know, as a Mom, it is hard to watch your child go through this. Meme - so glad you enjoyed yourself. Now, just rest for a few days, and you may start to feel better. Joanne - YIKES!!!! Nothing is EVER easy, is it!! I hope everything gets under control. My cholestrol was a bit high at 5.8, but not high enough to warrent taking meds - yet! I guess the next test may show more. I hope you don't get diabetes. Not a fun thing to have. Tammy - I guess in a couple of days you will be off to see your son. You will be ready for a weekend away after starting back to work. Not so long left now, befor eyou can make a break for it lol Didn't do much on Labor Day. I didn't want to go away, any my kids were busy doing whatever kids do. We all visited last weekend. So, nice a enjoyable and quiet. We did a BQ with just the two of us. Hope you are all enjoying your day. It is a beautiful one here. |
Meme, the trip sounds great! Maybe that's a place we'll have to go sometime. I just got off the phone with Tim, and he's still talking about spring break. LOL He has mentioned different places. We went to Gettysburg, PA, last summer. He'd like to go back there. He said he and Bob can do the history stuff, and I can hit the shops. Now that boy knows his mom!! Hope you enjoyed your sleep in your own bed! It's always nice to come home to it, isn't it? I liked the joke that Vince Gill told.
Mima, retirement break! I like that!!! It might be a good idea for Suzanne and Jon to step back and really think about what their lives have in store for them. Hope things work out for the best. Joanne, I'm sure I'll stay busy after retirement. The 5th grade teachers are already asking me to come back next year and do volunteer work in their classrooms. If we still lived a mile from the school, I just might do it. It's a 20 minute drive now, and with the gas prices, it wouldn't be worth it. Bob isn't much for hobbies either. He did say the other day that he might think about getting a parttime job. I'm sorry about the high readings that you had on your bloodwork. Hope that you can find information to help you get all of the readings to a lower level. Anne, I am looking forward to heading to Muncie for another football game this weekend. Hope it doesn't rain! We're going have Tim and Jess over at the hotel after the game. We're either going to order pizza or run out someplace to eat. They were so hungry after last week's game. They had to eat a very early dinner in order to get ready. The only breaks they get during the game are restroom breaks. No eating in the uniforms. Also, they were so tired from standing. The band stood the entire game. Makes my feet hurt just thinking about it. One of the teachers said to me today, "You only have 2 more days this week! " They only have 3, but it made me smile. We had a beautiful day here too. I came home, walked in the house, and groaned. Bob had all of the windows closed. Warm and stuffy. I love having the windows open when it's nice. I opened the bedroom window last night, but I put an afghan across his side of the bed so he wouldn't freeze. I am so thoughtful. lol |
Joanne ... before you consider meds for your blood sugar I'd like for you to try something simple. Hubby 'happened' on this. I love green tea and drink a lot of it. I recently went on a 'diet' to lose weight in order to get in a dress I bought for a wedding ... this eating plan included A GALLON of water a day. I was afraid I couldn't drink that much water plus my usual amount of green tea daily so I thought I'd try some green tea supplements. I thought I felt less hungry when I took them so I told hubby he should try them. He did. One night he had eaten a lot and then we went out with friends and he ate a huge ice cream cone. Next morning his sugar count was down. He was amazed and didn't know how that happened. A few days later he forgot to take the pills and his count went up. He began to put 2 and 2 together. Last weekend, while we were at the Opry he forgot the pills again and his sugar went really high. He asked me yesterday if I brought some pills. I did and he took some. Today his sugar was back down. You can buy them at Wal Mart in the Vitamin - Weight Loss Supplement department. Wouldn't hurt to give them a try. They are Mega - T Green Tea Dietary Supplement and you take 2 a day. The ingredients are:
Green Tea - Curbs appetite, improves fat metabolism Chromium - Reduces body fat Garcinia Cambogia - Reduces food cravings and increases metabolism Guarana - Boosts energy levels and stimulates metabolism Eleuthero - Increases stamina and energy Bladderwrack, Fo-Ti and Gotu Kola - Metabolizes fat and eliminates excess fluids Calcium |
Wow-Joanne, when my triglycerides were high, I went to complex carbs, cut way down on sugar and walked-not really far and they were down in 3 weeks. mine are probably high again.
Where does Jessica go to school, Tammy? I love Vince Gill and Amy Grant. My niece bought tickets for my SIL and I a couple of years ago. Jon will be there for the baby I am sure. If they turn to God-they will be fine. I bought them bibles and they read them last week. They both come from alcoholic families and it sure has affected them . I keep telling my daughter io go to Adult Children of Alcoholics-it helped me tremendously. And I went to Al-anon for 23 years. Great help. Chiro and grocery shoppin this am and hair tonight. Nails yesterday-she worked on my ingrown nail. I am high maintenca these days. Bye Mima |
Hey There
Meme- Thanks- I will look for those capsules tomorrow when I go to W/M .I would never agree to taking meds for diabetes untill all my choises were used. That is the last resort.Joanne
|
Meme, I just bought some of those at Wal Mart when I was there the other day. Started taking them yesterday. I'm going to mention what you said to Bob. His sugar is always running high.
Joanne, let's both give the green tea things a try for a while and see what happens. Mima, Jessica transferred to the same school where Tim is going. She went to a community college last year and lived at home. I wasn't happy when I found out that she was transferring. I felt like last year she stayed at home since Tim was still in HS. I was hoping that they would both have their own college experiences, so they could find out for sure if they are right for each other. Tonight was the first night for water aerobics for this session at the Y. Boy could I tell that I hadn't been there since last spring. I'm glad that I'm getting started again though. I know that I'll feel better. By the end of the day at school, I was tuckered out. My back ached so bad, so I knew that going to the Y was the best thing for me tonight. We have Open House tomorrow night. I've decided that if I go to school, I'm not going to Open House. If I don't go to school, I'll go to Open House. I know that I can't do both. Looking forward to sleeping in on Friday. I may have to rethink this T-W-Th schedule. I wanted to keep Fridays open so I wouldn't be too tired for whatever was going on over the weekends. It seems like our school has so many M and F off during the year too. Weird schedule. I need to get to bed soon. Hope you are all doing well. |
Good morning. Hmm-water aerobics sound so nice. I don't remember that you have Fridays off? Tammy. Refresh me. I understand how you want Tim to have his own experience. But kids have a mind of their own.
Suzanne is feeling terrible and going through all the stages of acceptance, my best friend reminded me of. Brad got the tub for the apt last night. The price keeps going up but I can see in the long run it will not only bring income, but increase the value of the house big time! How's that for acceptance. I had my hair highlighted-the color is beautiful but I am so allergic to the chemicals. Wheezing like crazy. The price of beauty, I hope the capsules work for you., Joanne. I bet Brad wouldn't take them-he is working so hard, he keeps his sugar down. But eventually he will run out of steam. Hi Meme and Anne. Where is Candice-time to check in there. Mima |
Mima, I'm only going to school 3 days a week. The one 5th grade teacher does centers on T-W-Th, so those were the days that I planned to be there because I am in charge of one of the centers. I knew there was no way I could do 5 days, and everyone is fine with that. You are so right about kids having minds of their own. A new tub will help the place I'm sure. They say it's the little things that help with the value.
I hardly slept last night and am very achy this morning. I just sent an email to the principal and the teachers I work with that I won't be there today. No plans to do for a sub, and that feels weird. They don't get a sub for me if I'm not there. Bob doesn't even know that I'm staying home. I'll write him a note since I plan to try to get some sleep. Have a great day everyone! |
Tammy- I hope you feel better and get some rest. It is good that you are only working 3 days a week - kind of getting you ready to retire:) The kids will do what they want I guesss. They are in love and feel the need to be together. I can remember that feeling!
Mima - I hope you stop wheezing soon. My goodness, it must be terrible to so allergic. Can't you get shots for all that? They say, kitchens and bathrooms are what sell houses, so I guess you are making the right improvements. Joanne - I hope that those green tea pills work for you and bring your sugar in line. I read that eating a dish with vinegar in it will also stabalize blood sugar (need about a tablespoon of vinegar). I hope they get all those highs, normalized without medications. Meme - Hope you are resting. I am off work today, go tomorrow. I kind of like this, working just a couple days a week is good for me. I am hurting today, and my darn chiro is away on holidays until Monday. I guess I will just have to tough it out. It is cooling off a bit and it looks like by next week, we are in for really cool Fall weather. So far this month we have had great weather (80's). I personally like it a little cooler, around 74-76 degrees. I hope you all have a good day. |
Anne, I'm still pretty achy and my temp has been up and down all day. I usually don't run a temp when I have fibro flares. How about all of you? This has been the pits. It has made me drink lots of water today though because I'm so warm.
I guess you're right about Tim and Jess. I know they care so much for each other, so maybe it really is love. We should get together on our days off since we aren't working everyday!! lol I hope you can get into your chiro as soon as possible to help you out! I haven't been to mine for a while. Maybe I should call tomorrow. Might make me feel better for the weekend. |
I got so mad at my hubby today for not listening to me that I hung up on him. He called me back and started in again ... I tried to tell him some stuff ... he wasn't listening again. Just kept insisting I do this 'one thing' and everything would be ok. Then he said, never mind, he'd do it when he got home. I hung up again and when he called back I just didn't bother to answer. Doesn't do any good to talk to him ... doesn't listen. I told him when he got home that I get tired of him never listening to a word I say so I've decided to just not talk to him when he gets like that.
CVS pharmacy charged over $300 on my Health and Savings Visa last week but they told me the card wasn't working and wanted me to pay cash for my prescriptions. I wouldn't do it. They must have run that card through their register a dozen times ... all the time I was standing there telling them not to do that ... woudn't listen. (Getting tired of people doing that to me!) Kept running it through - register wouldn't take the card. I asked them if they took all those charges off. They said nothing went through but yes ... everything was backed off and nothing was on the card ... said they were SURE! Then they said, what do you want to do about your medicine. I said, nothing, bye. My best friend's daughter was with me, I had picked her up at school. She said the clerk 'mocked' me and said, behind my back, "BYE". Made me even madder (if possible ... needed the drugs!) I've had a lot of trouble with that store. Friday I went to Wal Mart with new prescriptions from the Dr. and they said the ins. co. said they couldn't fill them ... been too soon since they had been filled (at CVS!). I told them those weren't filled and they called over there to have them call the ins. co. Then my card wouldn't run at WM either - insufficient funds!!! It was Friday evening and too late to do anything, had to pay for the meds. This week I called the number on the card and CVS had charged over $300 on the card and didn't take it off. I called the store and they say they can't take it off ... they called 'corporate' and corporate said THEY didn't know how to take it off my VISA either. I have the amounts and the access codes for each amount that is in their register and they can't trace it back and refund my VISA ... guy at Wells Fargo (where my VISA card is with) said it's easy for them to do. I told them I'd bring my card back up there for them to do a refund but they still say they don't know how to do that. I called the toll free headquarters # for CVS and told them what's going on and they have called their bank to see what they can do. The store offered me $300 IN CASH. Can you believe that. I need this money returned to my health and savings card to show that I didn't receive medicine that day. I can't accept cash from a health and savings card. I had them yelling at me saying they couldn't refund a VISA then I had hubby yelling at me saying, well if you just called them back and threatened to call 'corporate' yourself and tell them what's going on they'll get on the ball and figure out how to refund the card." I told him he didn't realize how ignorant the clerks up there are. He just kept on and then said he'd do it ... made me so mad ... like I wasn't doing it right. Do you ever feel like just running away? I just hung up and cried - felt like getting in my van and driving until I ran out of money - i probably would have left for a while if I hadn't had students coming this afternoon. SORRY ... I'm through now! :p |
Holy Toledo-what a crazy mess. Can't believe they couldn't get it off your card. Hope you cleared it up/ Meme. Sometimes Brad gets to talking and has no idea of what is coming out of his mouth. So yesterday I had to ask him Not to tease me in front of Leah and NOT to tell her our p[ersonal business. I love leah but I do not like this situation-3 more weeks.
Pollen count is high-wheeze-No walk today-makes it worse. I love 3 days, Tammy. Sounds like you might have a bit of a bug. I had something a couple of weeks ago. Maybe its a computer virus!!! ha!!!! I would like to be working to get out of the house a couple of days. And make some money. Awake at 3-Brad got up -couldn't go back to sleep-same as yesterday. Last words from Suzanne last night-I think I will go read my bible-Yikes-that's the miracle I want!!!Been praying for. Nothing like a crisis to get you to pray. I like the 70's too Anne. But I would love a frost to kill the ragweed. Hi Joanne. Bye Mima |
Meme, how awful for you! I can't believe they didn't know how to credit the account for what shouldn't have been charged. I've had similar problems in the past, and there was no problem. We have a CVS near here, and I've only shopped there once after they first opened. I wasn't impressed, so I've never gone back. I do all of my pharmacy at WalMart or the mail-in program with Anthem. Yes, husbands can be irritating at times.
Mima, Bob never talks about our business when I'm around, so I hope he doesn't share too much info when I'm not there. Hope the pollen count goes down so you can get your walk in. I definitely think it's a bug now. My temp was up again this morning. I was up with the dog at 6, went back to bed at 9, was up until 11:30, went back to bed until 1:00. I still feel awful. Have to get better to go to the football game tomorrow night!! Computer virus!!! Funny!!! How awesome that Suzanne was going to go read her bible!! When Tim was getting packed for school, he put his bible in the suitcase and said, I'll need that!!! Our new principal has a bible on his desk in his office. There was also a small plaque with a teacher prayer on it. Made me feel good about him. Hope it isn't just for show. |
YES ... CVS "corporate" that I called yesterday called me back today and said their bank said they finally figured it all out and have refunded my card the full amount. It should be posted to my card in 3 to 5 days. The woman that called me back said the people at their bank said they had never seen such a mess. I bet the Manager at the CVS here got an ear full! :p (I never did call them and tell them I wasn't coming for the $300 in cash they supposedly had waiting! ;)
|
Sure glad you got that straightened out., Meme. And I hope you feel better, Tammy.
The pollen count is high-My head is full and I am wheezing. Going to a bd party for a one year old-and a Christian bands concert tonight. And tomorrow-a church gathering at 1. The food is going to be awesome at the bd party but it's Italian so i won't be able to eat it. I don't know of any principal who keeps a bible on his desk so I wouldn't think that was for show, Tammy. I worked on my crafts yesterday-everything is marked and I painted 3 more mini-pictures. Just a little sewing left and to finish the poncho/ Bye for now Mima |
Meme, what a relief!! That has to make you feel much better!!
Mima, I'm feeling better so far this morning. Temp is "normal" which is 97.5. I think that I am leery about the principal after the last joker we had. He put on a good show, but then was such a loser. I think this guy will be a huge improvement. Need to go pack some things for our overnighter. Football game, get together with Tim afterwards, go to church with him in the morning, do lunch, then come home. |
I hope you have a great time, Tammy. My gf and I were discussing how much fun it was when my daughter was in college and I went in to visit in Cambridge-the boys were far away so I didn't go vist them, She's in the process of helping her d find a college for next year.
Life lesson-If you have diverticulosis, do not eat pasta with lots of tiny bits of garlic. I couldn't eat the lasagna yesterday so I ate that at the party. Actually, there was nothing I could eat except the peanut butter balls. Luckily, I have stopped running to the bathroom and slept all night.I think I need a liquid diet today. Will have to go to wally worls and get generic ensure. And we have the church picnic today. Hi Anne, Meme, Joanne. How's the bp Joanne? Mima |
Mima, we had a wonderful time! The school Tim attends is a pretty small school. They played Indiana Univ. last night (big school), and Ball State only lost by 1!! It was a great game. If they continue to play like that, they should have a good season. The band looked and sounded great. It was great seeing Tim and Jessica again. The church they attend over there is so nice! Very welcoming. I liked that. I hope that is what my church is like when visitors come. I'll have to make sure the next time there is a visitor!!
Ouch to what you went through after eating!! Hope you are feeling better, but with the church picnic, it sure would be hard to find things to eat. I need to go pick up the dog from the doggy hotel pretty soon. I'm sure he'll be glad to see me. |
Tammy, glad you had a good time ... but sorry Mima got a tummy ache. It's hard to find things to eat with that disorder. My mom had that and there were so many things she couldn't eat. I can remember when we went to Burger Kings I would have to explain every time that she couldn't eat seeds so would they please make her burger with two bottoms. It was a pain but what could you do. There were only a few restaurants she would even eat at. I kept telling her we could find her someting at any place in town but she would say she was afraid she'd get sick so we stuck with the 3 she liked. I got really tired of eating at the same places all the time but hurmored her.
Allergies are killing me! So's the RA, OA and FIBRO. No sleep - not helping! Flu-like symptoms. 1st choir practice tonight before church. They did really good ... of course they had me for a leader so what did I expect! :D Only had 15 tonight. 5 not there that said they were joining. Supposed to be there next week. Not bad for a start. We may be starting a choir for the older youth soon, too. Speaking of going to Wal Mart ... I've about stopped shopping there. I'm not saying I'll NEVER go there again but I didn't go there last weekend and I'm going to start supporting the local stores with my business more and stay out of Wal Mart as much as I possibly can ... and that's possibly A LOT!!! #1. Wal-Mart just partnered with the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. #2. Wal-Mart discriminates against women. Wal-Mart employs fewer women in management today than its competitors did in 1975. The average time from their date of hire until they are first promoted to an Assistant Manager job is 4.38 years for women and only 2.86 years for men. The average male senior vice president at Wal-Mart makes $419,435 a year, while the four women senior vice presidents earn an average of $279,772. #3. Wal-Mart manufactures ALL it's products out of countries other than the US ... mainly in China. #4. Wal-Mart uses child labor at rediculously low labor rates & long hours ... they were fined $135,540 in civil money penalties for violating the youth employment provisions in 2005. The State of Connecticut, investigating Wal-Mart’s child labor practices after the federal investigation ended, found 11 more violations. In June 2005, Connecticut fined Wal-Mart Stores Inc. $3,300 over child labor violations after a state investigation found that some minors lacked proper paperwork and were operating hazardous equipment at the stores. [“Wal-Mart Is Fined for Child Labor Violations,” Bloomberg News, June 22, 2005] #5. Wal-Mart consistantly violates labor laws with disregard to it's workers rights. In December 2005, a California court ordered Wal-Mart to pay $172 million in damages for failing to provide meal breaks to nearly 116,000 hourly workers as required under state law. Wal-Mart appealed the case. [The New York Times, December 23, 2005] NEWS REPORT Organizing rights. Wal-Mart has aggressively sought to discourage – even intimidate – workers from exercising their right to form a union. Wal-Mart even provides a hotline for its managers to call when they suspect union-organizing activities; on the other end are specialists trained to head off organizing efforts. In rare cases where union organizing efforts among Wal-Mart employees have succeeded, Wal-Mart has acted aggressively to stamp the union out. Low wages. In 2001, Wal-Mart paid its employees an average $8.23 per hour, compared with $10.35 for an average supermarket worker. • Unequal pay for equal work. Wal-Mart is now the subject of a sweeping class action lawsuit, involving more than one million current and former women employees of Wal-Mart as plaintiffs, alleging that pay and opportunities for advancement do not reach those of their male counterparts. Off-the-clock work. By December of 2002, 39 class action lawsuits, involving hundreds of thousands of plaintiffs, charged Wal-Mart with withholding earned wages, either by deleting hours from time sheets or forcing workers to work unpaid overtime hours. Child labor. An internal Wal-Mart audit turned up thousands of cases of young employees working too late, working during school hours, or working for too many hours a day, in violation of U.S. child labor laws. Unaffordable and unavailable healthcare. While 66 percent of employees at large firms like Wal-Mart receive health benefits from their employer, only 41 to 46 percent of Wal-Mart employees do. In 2002, Wal-Mart adopted new policies that force employees to wait longer before having enough tenure to qualify for benefits. Wal-Mart has also shifted more of the cost for health care premiums onto its workers. Wal-Mart even encourages its employees to seek charitable and public assistance for meeting their health care needs. A UC-Berkeley study found that California taxpayers subsidized $20.5 million worth of medical care in that state alone. Undocumented workers. Recent news reports and other evidence show that Wal-Mart executives knowingly hired undocumented workers as janitors in their stores, and then forced them to work long hours for little pay – $325 for 60-hour, seven-day weeks, for eight straight months, according to one worker. Exploiting foreign labor. In 2002, Wal-Mart purchased 10 percent of all Chinese goods imported into the U.S. And workers in countries like China, Bangladesh, and Honduras are suffering because of the stringent demands Wal-Mart makes of its suppliers. One factory worker reported working 19-hour days for 10- to 15-day stretches to meet Wal-Mart’s price demands. Disability discrimination. Wal-Mart has been the subject of numerous lawsuits alleging discrimination in hiring towards people with disabilities. Worker safety. A recent report provided evidence of Wal-Mart’s policy of locking workers inside stores overnight. In some cases, workers were told not to use emergency exits in any but the most serious emergencies. In some cases, sick or injured workers had to wait for the start of the morning shift, when managers with keys arrived to unlock the doors. Still want to shop Wal Mart? |
I don't like reading that-one of the members of Brad's church works there and has been for 12 years. I should ask him too. That's the only store around with good prices.
Meme-do you know who the Needhams are-they are going to be at Brad's church on Friday. Tammy-so glad you had a good time. It sure helps the adjustment when you can go visit. Church picnic great-you bring your own food so I had a turkey hamburger although we were the only ones that cooked-sandwiches next year. It was at an old estate that had been turned into a home for juvenile delinquents. We took a tour to see what goes on-actually run by Christians-pastor's son is a life coach there. They also had a beautiful indoor pool but the kids took that over-they were having a blast. I got nervous because Brad's gd wasn't watching her son who is 3 but there were other people there. Suzanne is doing well and getting interested in church-PTL. She has adoc's appt on Thurs and Jonathan is going with her. They will look for the heartbeat. 3 more weeks of the house invasion-maybe I can sleep after. 3:30 am. this morning-my earplugs fell out and Brad was snoring like crazy. This bed in the den is looking good!!! Hi anne-Joanne-Candice. It;s getting fallish here. Mima |
Meme, good for you on having a good choir practice!! Hope everyone shows up next week.
My husband worked at the local WalMart for several years, and I know quite a few people that work there. Our local one has women managers and has had for years. I know that this store might be different than others, but most of them around where we live are quite good to their employees. As for the pay, I know Bob was making more there than he would have made at many other kinds of stores in the area. They were wonderful when he had a car accident and missed 3 months work. Cards, letters, phone calls from employees and managers. Visits from them. Maybe living in small town America isn't so bad after all? He also received benefits while he was off of work. Mima, so glad that Suzanne is doing well, and Jonathan going with her is a good sign, right? I'll be keeping them in my prayers. I'm going to try to talk Bob into going to the Y later this morning. I want to do some things in the Nautilus room that I had done at therapy. Thought he could show me how to do some of the other machines that I don't know how to do. I won't overdo it!! Water aerobics tonight. Fun!! |
Hey There
Hello Everybody. I have been pretty busy lately.. My sisters hubby has triple bypass surgery this past week. I had my daughter and her hubby here for the weekend . Prayers...
Meme- Sorry you have a sour Walmart. I like the one we have here.. So far no problems.. I get all my meds there. I have had some sour times with the local pharmacy.. Big mess up when they tried to convince me I was on somebody mood elevator.. no way! I took my meds right out and went to W/M. Busy day today. lots of laundry...Then the dentist.. I hate that.. Joanne |
Joanne, prayers for your BIL. Hope all is going well with him.
Laundry? I think I might have some. Maybe I should go look. I don't mind the dentist. Ours is wonderful. If she ever retires, my whole mouth will rot because I don't want to go to anyone else!!! Didn't make it to the Y yet. Bob has been gone, and I think he must be mowing at the other house. His phone is here, so I can't call to find out. Well, I guess I could call, but I'm the only one that will hear it ring. Other than the dog. lol I don't think he'll want to go to the Y after mowing. Maybe I'll convince him another day. Hope everyone is having a good day! |
I'm sorry ... you misunderstood what I said. I did not say I was having trouble with our local Wal Mart. The clerks are friendly and I even go to church with a girl that works there! Didn't you read what I printed above? After hearing their policies and reading and hearing about what all they have been up to since their father/founder Sam Walton died (he would turn over in his grave) I just can't 'buy' it all ... pardon the pun. We are making them rich while our local merchants are all slowly becoming nonexistant. I'm just saying because of their unetical practicises, my husband and I have decided to start shopping local more and stop giving Wal Mart all our hard earned money ... put a little more back into our local economy instead of into the rich conglomerate's pocket. That may not make any sense to some but it does to us so I guess that's all that matters! :p

Hi everybody.
Mima - sounds like you had an enjoyable picnic. I hope you are feeling better. Hit that bed in the den, if it's the only way to get some much needed sleep. Tammy - glad you had a good visit. Now get washing those clothes:) Hope you found Bob:D Joanne - I sure hope your BIL will be ok. Meme - Well I guess I am the one out of the loop here. Walmart has NEVER been a favorite place of mine. I rarely go there - only if I am forced to when my daughter comes to visit. I prefer out local Canadian stores and the deals are just as good. I know Walmart said they would buy Canadian as much as possible, but I don't think that is possible if they want to keep their prices LOWER than everybody else. You are right, about small stores going into hard times or out of business because of them. It is ALWAYS crazy busy there. I worked a full day today, and I am tired. Just wanted to let you all know that SNOW is on it's way - as early as Thursday or Friday. Of course, it won't stay, but still ........... Hope everybody sleeps well tonight. |
Snow!! Haven't seen that since 2 years ago-we were in Fl last year in Nov.
I had a good night's sleep in the den -only problem is the bed is uncomfortable-I have a water bed with a pillow top in the other room. At least I will buy a pillow top.Maybe Brad will change beds with me-he doesn't like the water bed. He doesn't mind me sleeping in the other room as long as I am available...............fill in the blank. I would like to work a couple of days for Christmas money, Anne. Even my gf didn't get called to work this month. Hope BIL is ok-it's sure great what they can do these days and FL is the place to be for that surgery-you can walk outside all year-well, not in the heat. I could join the pool in Westminster but I can't do the water aerobics because of the twisting. But the pool is 90. Hmm. Just have the shawl to finish fo the Fair. Meme-I read that and checked on line and you are right. I told Brad but he wonders if other stores have that same policy. I tried to find out but I couldn't. The only store I can afford is a distance for groceries but we are going there this week. I live near a depressed area and there is not much around. Leah may have gone to oil-burner school last night. She had to decide right away. Suzanne is feeling better because she throws up now-much better than being nauseous all the time. Bye for now-Mima |
Anne, Bob spent most of the day mowing at the other house. I wish he would take his cell phone with him, but he usually leaves it on the dresser in the bedroom. I am not quite ready for snow!

Hey There
Meme- I understand what you said. In my case ,it is a small town with 2 pharmacys and they both have screwed up so bad with my meds that I am afraid to use them. Walmart so far has been really good. We do shop in the grocery stores in town. This a tourist town where all the former downtown has gone to antiques.. Walmart really is a lifesaver for us. We do have a Kmart . It is high in prices and You usually can't find what is needed.. I have read what you say about Walmart, but, I don't usually want to drive 15 miles to the mall for small things.
Mima..Blanks filled in.. My hubby is greek. He says we sleep in same bed as long as we are married..53 years this Christmas. He snores like a train. and talks most nights all night in his sleep. I lost it the other night and raised **** about him keeping me awake. I told him to go sleep in his mother's bed. Yes we have her antique brass bed she brought from Greece in our spare Bedroom. That didn't work.. Happy..My bil came home today.. He is feeling kinda rough. Open heart surgery is no fun.. We got a hospital bed in for him. my sister thought he may be more comfortable. They set it up in thier B/R. It will take time ,but, he should be fine.. Tammy.. I got the megT green tea capsules. I get on Treadmill everyother day for 30 min. I need to increase that. Last week at Tops i was145. Today I am 148.. I am not doing something right. I found a ad in the paper where a local hospital is giving classes for diabetics. I may attend some so I can get my hands on the diabetic diet plan. I can't find it anywhere on net. Joanne |
