Default Hello Fibrogals

Hope you are all doing ok today, and that some of the hot weather has cooled down for you. It was around 90 degrees here yesterday and it is supposed to about the same today. The house gets so hot. The only good thing is, that during the night, it cools off considerably, as we are only a couple of hours from the mountains. So that helps a lot.

Had a family reunion yesterday, so have been busy. My daughter came down on Saturday, so didn't have a lot of time to get on this box. Our reunion was small yesterday. I guess people had a lot of other stuff to do, but those that attended had a great time. There were only about 40 of us. It is always potluck so there is always tons of food. My family just doesn't know how to do anything halfway. The thing that is getting better is that as we are all getting older, we sure eat less. At one time, all of the fellows used to go back for seconds, now they are content with just one helping. Unfortunatley, the dessert table still beckons to all the women

Mima - the thread goes to page 2 by itself. If you want to start a new thread, just click on NEW THREAD and then in the 'Post Subject' put in Fibromyalgia # whatever it is. Then just start typing as per usual. When you enter, it will show as a new thread.

To bad the medication for the osteoporosis is making you so sick. How long before the body is supposed to start to tolerate it? You are such a good dieter - I sure wish I could get some of this willpower that you ladies have. I used to have it as well, but lately I can't get with it.

Last week I was so tired. I was talking to a friend of mine and was telling her it was that 'loggy' kind of tired, like during the season changes, and she said that some of the trees are already starting to change, and the fall haze has started as well. During the evening, around 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., a haze forms. That is always a sure sign fall is on it's way. So, I guess that I was tired for a reason, anyway. It always lasts a few days and then I am fine again. I just want to sleep. It is like someone forgot to click on the switch when I woke up. Also, because I live at a resort area, there have been lots of campfires and the smoke really irritates my eyes and sinuses. So Friday and Saturday night were not pleasant, because I had to shut the windows to I could function. Had a headache going on as well. Anyway, by yesterday I was back to the land of the living. Feel great today.

Joanne - glad you had a good visit with your daughter. I always enjoy my daughter as well.

Meme - don't overdo it! Nice to just be down to one little girl, I would think. These kids have so much energy. Wish I could market some of that.

Ally - hope you have cooled off by now. I will have to go have a look at that site you put up. Will do that later today.

Hi Candice and Tootie. Hope you ladies are having a good day.

Anne

So Meme...what is a Drastic diet?
I think this low carb is good for not feeling hungry. I can't ever say that I cheat because I am really hungry.
I think I can give up sugar, pasta, potatoes, bread...but there is something about chips (fritos, potato chips, pringles) that just gets under my skin.
And I substitute nuts for the salt, then eat half a can.
Gotta weigh in on Friday.
Hope Ross does well in school, Meme. He's had a tough year.

Ally...thanks soooo much for the well wishes...he really HAS had a rough year. He is basically a good little boy...a bit hyper perhaps but not mean like the preschool made out. I gotta tell you all something really funny that happened last weekend. Paula (my daughter) was buying his school supplies at Wal Mart when they happened upon 4 people from the church we used to go to. For those of you that don't know what happened last spring...Ross was kicked out of the preschool at our church without warning and for basically behaving like a normal 4 yr. old. When the preschool board (of which my daughter was even a member) refused to do anything about it we quit going there. Anyway...back to Wal Mart...there was a woman, two men and a teenage boy standing there talking. Well...Ross was all excited because he had just come from open house at the new school where he is going to Kindergarten. They were all asking him about his new school and he just blurted out, "My Mama yanked me out of that other school. She said they were all a bunch of Goobers and didn't have any sense!" Paula said she was totally speechless. She said the teenage boy turned his back and was shaking with laughter! That happened Friday night and I've been laughing at least every other hour since!!! He turned 5 today. Doesn't seem like he should be that old!!!

Ally...drastic means whatever it takes! No more night eating, no more junk, way down on the fat and sugar, etc. Today I had a piece of toast for breakfast, some leftover chicken and rice for lunch and some chicken salad, made into a "ring" with crescent rolls and baked, for dinner. I had a few pretzels about 9 and that's it. About 1000 calories. I'm going to continue to eat about 1000 calories a day for the rest of the week and then up it to 1200 and then back to 1000 and so on until I've lost it all. I know it is going to be hard but I'm determined to do it! I need to lose 50 pounds!

Here's Ross...isn't he a doll???

This is his little sister...Jenna Rae. She asked me over and over today, "Where Bubber?" Today was his first day at Kindergarten.

Default Hey There

The weather here in Florida is hot hot hot and humid. As always this time of year we are looking forward to cool weather. In the 90's. Happy Canuk you are lucky to live way up there in the north. But I guess you do get tired of the cold weather.
I hope your arm is much better Candice.
Memetoo those children are the cutist ever. We don't have any young grandchildren. They grew up too fast. My grandson is in the navy and my granddaughter is in her second year at Valdosta State. My son has no children. I keep hoping he will get married and have some. Be careful with your diet. Just eat healthy. With me it is always portion control. I like to eat more than I should.
Got company due next week. Not staying with me though They will be busy seeing some amusement parks and parts of the area. I will have to cook greek at least once though.
Hello Mema.
Bye for now....Joanne

Thanks...I think they're cute too (obviously!) I had thought about giving them away...but after much consideration decided to keep them...if nothing else...to look at!

REASONS TO EXERCISE!

It is well documented that for every minute that you exercise,
you add one minute to your life.
This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional
5 months in a nursing home at $5000 per month

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60.
Now she's 97 years old and we don't know where she is.

The only reason I would take up exercising
is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks.
Haven't lost a pound. Apparently you have to show up.

I have to exercise early in the morning
before my brain figures out what I'm doing.

I like long walks, especially when
they are taken by people who annoy me.

I have flabby thighs, but fortunately
my stomach covers them.

The advantage of exercising every day
is that you die healthier.

If you are going to try cross-country skiing,
start with a small country.

And last but not least:
I don't exercise because it makes the ice
jump right out of my glass.

Default Hello

Mima, that is beautiful. My daughter did a picture of the four seasons for me, in crosstitch and I love it. My girlfriend did a petitpoint picture of a english cottage with all the flowers and it is beautiful. I know, whoever it is who is getting this, will cherish it.

Meme - thank you for posting it for Mima. That was such a nice thing to do. By the way, those weren't enough reasons to exercise in this heat! Those grandchildren of yours are so cute.

Joanne - It isn't that cold up here. I suppose for you the mid 70's is a tad cool, but to me it is really warm. We will soon be starting into the Fall season up here - the air has already changed and the leaves of the trees are starting to turn. I just hope we have a nice long, warm fall. That is my favorite time of year. I love the crisp morning air and the cool evening air and the nice warm afternoons.

Ally - You said you had to weigh in. Did you join a group?

Candice - Hi. Hope your arm is feeling a whole lot better.

Hi Phyllis. Hope you can at least read. We miss you.

Anne
