Rosey i'm so happy for you. i know even the smallest compliment can make your day. and when your working as hard as you it can be a big boost. but moose so small. my eyes would never even let me see to attempt such. you go girl.
stephanie it can be a real battle to loose those last pounds. and to keep blood sugers balanced in the act is even harder. most of us are fighting the high side of the blood suger battle, so yours is a harder trick, but we are here to listen and help in any way. glad you stopped by. well looks like we finally got this plant going in the right direction. my boss had the nerve to wake me at 8:30 am to ask if i wanted to work a day shift on sunday. i'm thinking i need some of what he's been smoking. friday is going to be my last all nighter. yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. i'm starting to smell the turkey. hope everyone had a good day. hugs. deb |
Rosey - Whoopie - you're definitely on the right track. You must have great eyes to do all that fine work. Bet those ornaments are terrific! My mother once made some out of eggshells, draining the eggs through a hole in the top, drying them out, then cutting out a hole in one side where she put angel hair and little stickers to make a scene. Painted them gold and ran a string through the hole in the top to hang them. I didn't inherent her craft ability.
Stephanie - welcome to our thread. I am Type 2 and am currently taking 3 drugs to control my blood sugar. I have been OP (on diet program) for almost three weeks and along with some weight loss, my sugars have been going down. Because of orthopedic problems, I haven't been exercising, but I'm going to change that soon and then will have to be more concerned with low blood sugar. I have a couple of suggestions for you. Maybe since running is bringing down your sugar too far, you might want to consider switching to walking for awhile and doing it every day or most days. This may be easier on you and you might not get so tired. As to eating, you may be eating more than you think you are. Try keeping a food diary for a week or so, adding up calories. The result might surprise you. I would also suggest that you check out one of the calorie calculators (WebMD has one) and figure out how many calories you need to maintain your desired weight, say 125. Then plan your diet around that number and divide it in to small meals so that you are prepared for the times when your sugar gets too low. If you continue to be tired and you can't find a reason for it, you probably should check with your doctor. In the meantime, please come here often. This is a place where you can receive and give support. :goodvibes Deb - Great news. Here's something for your boss:  |
thank you rosey. thank you. i will keep doing my best. if i give i will never get there, if i keep trying, at least i can say i did.

No more lurking for me
;) Hello, I have been here reading all your posts and feel at this time I would like to add some input. I am a teacher in So. Calif and raise birds as a hobby. I belong to Peta and just about every other concerned animal rights org. on the west coast. I was told I have type2 diabetes in July of this year and have been kind of in shock ever since, I need to lose about 30 pounds to get where I`m supposed to be, and the older I get the harder it is.I`ll be 60 this next year.Would love to be a part of your group. Thank You :coffee:

Hi Stephanie, Welcome aboard. We have a great group here. I am type II and
ashamed to say, not controlling it well. But I'm trying. I just am not consistent. It's understandable, your frustration. You have been living with this since your a child. You're actually one of the many strong brave people out there who have grown up with a disease that many of us can't even deal with a much less severe version of. I give you so much credit and admiration. Makes me feel silly for ever complaining. I've been trying to deal with type 2 for less than 10 yrs as an adult and so many children grow up with type I. So a great big :grouphug: to you. I think running 3 x a week is great. I know even a small 20 min low impact workout helps my readings. I've been going on the gazelle for 20 min about 5 days a week and see improvements. Of course I will need to increase the time & intensity over the next few weeks, but sometimes it gets to a point where it seems you would have to increase it to a point that theres no time or you lose interest. But I feel some is better than none. So maybe walking as Rosetta suggested is worth a try and then throw in a run every couple of day. Remember, the less you have to lose, the harder it is. I know 20 lbs seems like alot, but slow and steady you'll get there. Rosey, Congrats on all the success. Your doing just great. I was reading about you doing the precise work for the ornaments and thinking about the change in my eyesight over the last few weeks. I went to the eye doc last march and my reading vision took such a slight dip that he actually said it wasn't worth it to get prescription glasses, that the weak 1.25 magnifiers at the drug store would be fine if I needed them, which I didn't. Well over the last month I've noticed more and more that I absolutely need them. It actually scared me enough to call and move up my yearly appt. I was so nervous the girl at the doctors office had him call me. He said in my mid 40's(I'll be 45 in a couple months) my reading vision could worsen in a matter of weeks, that sadly that's how it happens. I've just been spoiled I guess, never needing glasses till now. But I'm going to get them checked in a couple of weeks anyway. He said it could wait but since I'm nervous, I'm going. Deb aka Lefty, How's it going? I hope everything is healing well. I haven't had the success you've had but I'm close. Definitely lost. Made it thru 12 days induction and then a slight breakdown. Had a muffin. It did trigger a binge but I fought it. Didn't touch anything else. That's been my biggest issue in the past. Once I blow it I figure What the heck, and eat whatever. I'm still fighting it this morning, it's amazing how hard it is. Don't let that boss get to you. We've got some real crap going on at work. My ex-supervisor is leaving in a month(and she's off for the next 2 weeks) woo hoo!! :cb: But they are moving everyone around and cross training. (because the refuse to hire anyone) so it looks like some stressful times ahead(of course around the holidays.) Well, time will tell. I have to do what they want. Need the paycheck. I don't live to work. I work to live. Hey Rosetta You have a good weekend too! And three weeks on program deserves a great big WOO HOO! :cp: Hey Pat, glad to hear your back OP. It's a constant battle isn't it? but we have to keep trying. I'm cooking for Thanksgiving. Nothing fancy. It's all guys in my house and with them it's quantity not quality  I have a couple of frozen pies. Stove Top stuffing which they love, I'll make a big batch of mashies that they love, baked sweet potato for me and several different veggies. The hard part will be the cranberry sauce and stuffing. Need to have a little. But I'm going to skip the pie. I'm going to expirament with pumpkin this week. I'm going to try and make the filling with splenda and use no pie crust. That with some FF cool whip would be great. I wonder if I need to bake it sitting in a pan of water like a custard. Well, I guess that's why it's called expiramenting  I am looking forward to leftover white meat. Great for lunches. The guys usually kill the stuffing and bread. Welcome Meadowlark. You raise birds? cool. We have an African Gray. He is so funny. But he doesn't like to come out of his cage. Once in a blue moon I get him out to give him a shower. We probably didn't train him right when we got him. My husband bought him. We both worked full time and at the time had 3 young boys we were raising. He got attention as far as the household was hopping all the time(boy did he pick up some bad habits :o ) But we love him. Though he is such a slob. What kind of birds do you raise? well ladies, sorry I babbled so long. Haven't been on in a few days and I guess it was bottled up  To anyone I may have missed "HI !" Enjoy the weekend. ttyl :D |
Well Good morning :coffee: I'm glad to be back on the day shift. And hand is out of it's bandage. So now I'm looking forward to a good Thanksgiving. Now the bad news. Just heard that there are still problems in the plant and we could be headed back on overtime. Man they are going to force me to make money.
I'm glad and want to welcome the newbies Stephanie and meadowlark we are glad to have you. Everyone has something to offer and the more the better. Rosetta, Rosey, Pat, Donna glad to hear everyone is doing their best. This is a really tough time of year to stay OP. So I'm glad we're getting off to a good start. Well I'll be off for now. Hugs Deb |
Evening, girls. I've been busy all day and have just now been able to get to the forum. Welcome Meadow -- glad you could join us. What kind of birds do you raise? I like birds, have done a little birdwatching, but not for awhile. Donna - welcome to middle age. I've worn glasses since I was about 15, so it's no biggee for me. I got cataracts at 45 and had two surgeries. My eyes are good now. I get them checked once a year by an opthamologist as everyone with diabetes should do. I hope you just need the glasses to read. S
Stephanie, keep posting and let us know how you are doing. Deb: Hooray! Back to normal -- almost. Glad your hand is better to (gotta lift that turkey to your mouth!) I lost another 2 lbs but am afraid I may have canceled that yesterday with a tostada salad (love that guacamole). Anyway, back OP today. Yes, Donna, that's a problem for me too. It's easy to say, well I blew it so forget the whole thing, but I'm trying to train myself to get back on the horse, so to speak, if I fall off. |
Rosetta :cp: Am I proud of you. A little slip and no bouts of depression, you've come a long way baby. It's really hard to be the perfect angle all the time. I'm also learning the trick is to not let it stop you in your tracks.
I saw a post on the #2 thread from a Heidi and told her to come on over and meet the group. hope to see her here. Well it looks like the weather has dampened my plans to finish painting the house this weekend. It's been raining here for days. With more on the way. But the overcast is helping easy me back into daytime life. I'm afraid a good sunny day and my skin would brust into flame. I'll be off for a few days and will be pretty busy but I'll try to get in over the long weekend. Everyone have a Happy Thanksgiving. Deb |

Hi. Looks like everyone is in a holiday mood. Rosey - my dust bunnies are so big, they eating the furniture! I hope you have a wonderful time with your grandkids and don't exhaust yourself too much. Deb - glad it's raining so you don't have to paint the house and can readjust from your vampire hours. Enjoy your time off. I won't be checking in over the long weekend since I don't have access to a computer. I was supposed to have next week off but at 7:30 this morning, roofers showed up on the building next door to my apartment house and starting hammering and running their infernal machines. They plan to be there next week. No point in my staying home to hear that. So I'm in a foul mood today since I thought I was going to have 11 straight days to veg. Happy Thanksgiving to you all and to the lurkers, too!

On the advice of 2round, here I am, newly diagnosed diabetes. I am trying to control it right now with a change in diet. I could use all the help I can get. I am just feeling so overwhelmed right now.
|
Welcome, H. Are you taking medications. If you can get by without them that is the best. Exercise is also important for controlling blood sugar. Does your health plan provide for counseling with a diabetes nurse or nutritionist? that's a good place to start. We're all here for support and enouragement. Post often.

Well I joined this website over 2 years ago but sort of fell off LOL
I had my first fasting blood glucose test last week and I was 7.7 (normal here in New Zealand is 3.5 - 6 I had another test yesterday morning and am waiting to hear what it is. If it is not above 7 then I will have to do a GTT. Gosh this waiting for results is sooooo hard!!! I am 34, living in New Zealand, married to the most wonderful man in the whole world. We have a cockatiel named Smukke who is our wee baby :) Even if my numbers are not so high this test I am still going to act like and eat like a diabetic to prevent myself from getting it as long as possible. I hope to get to know you all a lot better :D |
