Just thought it was about time I said hi to you all. I have had a dreadful couple of weeks with just about the worst flare I have ever had. Anyway I went and saw my Rheumy on Tuesday and by the time I had finished in her office we were both swimming out. I was so upset cos I hurt so much and thats the first time I have been like that since I was diagnosed. She was very sweet though and said it was good to have a cry and get it out my system. I did feel a bit of an idiot tho. Anyway she said my muscles were in a worse state than my joints this time. She thinks the pain in my left leg, in my calf and behind my knee could be a bakers cyst. She said they can be very painful and can be mistaken for DVT by patients. Well of course she must have been reading my mind. I am no hypochondriac but when youre low you imagine all sorts. Anyway I had bloodwork done as usual and she gave me another quick fix steroid jab to help me whilst my new Demard got into my system. She decided to prescribe Leflunomide (Arava) instead of the Mtx injections.I was kind of grateful for that what with all the blood work monitoring you get to feel like a pin cushion. I start the new drug next week cos the script has to come from my GP and it takes a week to get the paperwork through apparently. Right enough of this chat....... I have just been catching up on all the posts whilst having a cuppa and opening my birthday and anniversary cards. Catching up on all your chat I left school in !966, got married first time round at 16, and my Daughter was born in 1967 and my eldest son in 1968. So I have been a mum forever it seems. Anyway today I am the great age of 54 and I am celebrating my 16 th anniversary in my second marriage. I am also thinking where on earth have all the years gone. So Scary!!!! :?: I have managed to lose another 2 pound so thats 46 in total now. I must admit I have been slacking on my healthy eating for a few weeks and comfort eating alot. Plus I have had my son and my new DIL staying on and off for a couple of weeks. Well in and out for a couple of weeks really. They had four days in Ireland last week and two days in Belgium this week whilst hes waiting to be posted to his next basketball team. Goodness I have gone on a bit today. Best go and leave space for somebody else. It was great to read the posts and see how you all are doing I have really missed them but now I am back! :grouphug: Catch you all soon. Byeee!http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2..._butterfly.gif |
& HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY!! So sorry you had such a bad flare up. I've just recovered from one, myself...so can really sympathize. It really does help to have a sympathethical Dr. What is the Leflumonide? Does it work as well as the Mtx? I hate taking it...I don't mind the shot, it's the side effects. I have everyone of them. In fact, the mouth ulcers were getting so bad, I couldn't stand my dentures. ( I have uppers) I was taken off folic acid & put on Vecalourin (spellling) I take it 24 hrs after my Mtx shot. I take the first tonight. Sure hope it works. I hope you you get to feeling better real soon. Good to hear from you...& LOVE the graphics! |

That was so nice of you!!! Charlotte the new Demard I am going on is called Leflunomide, its trade name is Arava. You take it every day orally. It does have grott side effects like all the other drugs, it just depends whether you get them or not. Anyway its all trial and error and hope with this horrid desease. Rita I too have been having trouble with my calves but also with the back of my knee. I wrote about it in my last post. So painful. I hope yours clears up quickly. This was just a quickie so I will be back soon. TTFN... :coffee: |

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...ns/frog_hi.gif
Hi there Okidoll! Welcome! You have come to the right place. We all have aches and pains on here due to RA or OA or the like. We all have our our good days and bad days and we all like to vent our anger at times on having such a grotty desease or for the way we are treated. The other side of the coin is that we all chat about our lives, good points and bad, we are all in different parts of the World or Country therefore usually have points of interest for the others to read and chuckle about or relate to and give support. Bucks us up if we are a bit down or when we feel a bit lonely........SO WELCOME!!!!!! Always good to hear from someone else. Well everybody else, still not feeling that great. I still have company staying, being my Son and DIL. Dont know how long theyre going to be here but the novelty has worn off a touch when youre having to fight to get near your pc  I had to get up really early to get on here this morning. The weather has taken a turn and instead of rain every day like we were getting for three weeks we have heatwaves. I am not kidding you this weather has taken leave of its senses. Its now toooooo hot to do anything. Kills my legs....I know moan moan moan ;) ......I am going but I will be back soon hopefully....Everyone have a great day! |
okidoll!! So glad you joined us! Sorry you have this dreadful RA & Lupus, but, we're here for you, girl. My daughter & family just arrived home Saturday night from Lawton, Ok. My SIL was in the army for 10 yrs, & was stationed at Fort Sill the last 6 yrs. He served 1 yr in Irag, & decided to do what we've all been begging him to do...got out of the service, this time. He was afraid he would leave my daughter & two grandchildren without a husband & father. He had planned on retiring from the Army, as his dad did, but that's what love does for you. :) His dad was in the reserves, & called to Irag & left the same day that Chris came home....Valentine's Day. He didn't get to see him. But, his dad is home for a month, so he's with him now for a couple of days. Didn't mean to get started on all that, but, you're from OKC! Tell us more about yourself! Iamgonnadoit....You're finding such cute graphics!! Sorry you're not feeling so well. Hope you're better soon. I'm glad my Remicade "kicked in". My step-dad went into the nursing home with my mother...very suddenly. My sister & I have really been busy. We have their apartment, & a storage unit to go through, sort out, & clean up! We've really been working the last couple of days. I come home more exhausted than I expect to be. Once I site down, my energy is totally gone. My DH has been very understanding, so far, about meals being cooked, etc, but don't know how long that's going to hold up. :^: I know what you mean about the company. You love them....but.... Joanne...I'm praying for you through the storms. Do be careful. It's headed our way, slowly, looks like. It should hit our daughter's place in Thomasville, first. Just N of Mobile. Rita...So good to hear from you. I have a lot of cramps in my calves & feet. If I walk much, at all, my feet will cramp. Hope you're feeling well. Hello to everyone else...Have a great Labor Day!! |
GOOD Afternoon ladies hope everyone is having a great monday Joanne glad that you are safe will be enough work with just the yard clean up glad it wasnt worse for youWelcome Okidoll :)sorry to hear that you have the health problems hopefully we can be a help to you as I am sure you can be to us well ladies need to get some laundry done so hubby can have some clean underware:lol: so ladies have a great evening at least when I did wake up today it was :sunny: in Ohio just waiting for it to get me motivated Rita:dance:

More about moi -- Okidoll
I'm Kelley. 31 married 9 1/2 years w/ no kiddies --- two spoiled fat kitties. It seems like all four of us in this house are battling the bulge. I'm an at home gal so I have the time to exercise but what I want and what I can do are at two different ends. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about. Nobody understands this weakness we have. I like to call it a "death fatigue", because you literally think this must be what it is like to be dying. Add in the pain, and you can feel you joints and body burning. Sucks Rump!
I'm so glad to find you all. I've been having real trouble finding the strength to exercise. It is either I'm too stiff, in too much pain or too weak to walk. My husband bought me a treadmill, and I used it religiously until almost 1 year ago. I'm very worried, because I know two things: 1.) the extra weight will increase and 2). it is important for me to remain mobile and moving. I feel really trapped and frustrated. Cooking takes so much out of me. My husband has great patience with me, but I can tell he gets frustrated w/ the house being a mess and dinner. My big problem is portion control. Kinda feels like I'm at the foot of a mountain, and I know the climb up is going to be impossible. Whenever I talk to someone who has just been diagnosed w/ Lupus or RA or any other auto-immune disease I try to tell them that no matter what eating extra food does not give you extra energy. I fell into that trap when the weakness hits you. You think if you eat it will give you energy, and of course it doesn't. When you are just trying to find out what is wrong with you, or you are just trying to survive your weight seems like the last thing to worry about. Many of us, myself included, have had to take steroids (I only take them now once a year or so w/ a bad flare). Those play a number on us. So many factors in dealing w/ chronic illness that most diet professionals don't understand. Funny thing is that my mother also has Lupus and RA, but she struggles to keep weight on her. She is just so tiny now. She tries very hard to keep her weight up, but she doesn't even weigh 100 pds (she's about 5'1"). As you can tell, I'm very wordy. :smug: Thank you for the welcome.. Kelley/ Okidoll in OKC |
Yep!! I can tell you have RA & Lupus okidoll!! At such a young age, too! :( You know, it really would help, I believe, if other people understood. I'm not a lazy person, & it bothers me to not do the things I want to do, when I want to do them. I may need to clean house one day...but, so fatigued that I can't. Then, another day, I might have a little energy....but, while I DO, I need to go do other things, while I'm able to get out of the house. :^: What meds are you on? I am now on Methotrexate (one shot per week), & Remicade treatments(5-6 weeks apart).
I know what you mean about the eating. When I get weak, I still have the false impression that eating will help. Just puts on weight! I lost my weight last summer.(around 47 lbs) I didn't do any exercising, of course. I ate mostly fruit in the morning & lunch...then, for supper I ate a regular meal, only out of a saucer...very slowly. I drunk a lot of water & gave myself one free meal a week. We go out to eat most Friday nights, so I gave myself that meal. During the week I could think about it, & plan where I wanted to go & what I would order. The weight came off 1-3 lbs a week during the summer. I've maintained until recently. I took two vacations & gained 10 lbs back! Nothing for me to do on vacation, but eat. (excuses, excuses!! ) I've managed to lose 3 lbs of it, so far. Good luck. Hi Rita...I've let my laundry get too far behind. My step-dad went into the nursing home, suddenly, so my sister & I are having to clear out his apt. & storage building. Not a lot of time, & we're neither one really physically able to do it. No one else, though. He's in the same room with my mother. I hope it helps her. The Alziemer's has really been bringing her downhill, lately. The day he went in, she just sat there looking straight ahead. He's been going daily & staying with her, & she would laugh & hold his hand. She can't really talk anymore. Maybe it's just a bad week for her. Maybe I'll catch up on the laundry today. Hope you're feeling well. Seems most of us have slowed down with the posting. May be the holidays. Hope no one is too sick. I'm praying for all of you. *I can no long say I have a SIL in the army!! After 10 yrs of service, & finally getting back safely from Iraq, he & daughter & our two grands are safely back home!!!!!! God is Good! |
Hi This is Joanne's sister Eleni. First want to thank you for all your prayers in my behalf.Do keep them going.
Joanne is fine but she lost her electricity yesterday. She has several trees down in her yard. But no damage to her home. The heat is very uncomfortable and it is no fun to have no electricity. I am so lucky that I still have mine. But wanted to let you know she is ok and she will get back on line hopefully within a day or two. |
Hi. Angel Lover. I'm taking Methotrexate injection once a week. It saved my hands and feet. I had lost use of my hands and couldn't write my own name. My hands kind of look arthritic (huge knuckles and wrist are crooked). I take Plaquenil (for lupus), Vioxx daily and other assorted junk (you know the vast collection). It probably doesn't help my weight that I've had a hysterectomy at 25 so HRT is Estratest and a Femring.
I know what you mean about house or store or laundry or whatever needs to be done. It is like trying to get oil from a garden hose. People don't understand you can't exercise at a "moderate to high intensity". I "exercise" and I'm down for the count the rest of the week, yet we need to move around and stay mobile. I know my problem is what I put in my mouth, and I can own that responsibility. I think a big problem w/ me as well as others is we have people telling us we should a+b+c without realizing there are other components to that equation. Is there a spell check function on the messageboard. I usually do it by pasting to e-mail and running spell check on that. It really is pretty fast, but I was just wondering ? :?: |
Hey There
Hello Everybody...Yes ,this storm has passed bye.. This was the worst we have seen in a lot of years. No house damage ,tree damage and I lost power for 24 hrs. I can tell you ,we don't know how much we take for granted till we don't have it.. Got a lot of clean up outside. I worked all day yesterday with my son and his girlfriend. It will be quiet a while before we get it all done, And we have Ivan coming...I am so sore... I couldn't get out there today, maybe, tomorrow...Hope all of you are well...Joanne
|
Eleni! So glad you dropped in to let us know about Joanne. We do worry about each other...especially with the hurricane weather upon all of our friends. I hope you stay with us! You don't necessarily have to have OA or RA. Just be our friend. :) It's neat having sisters on here together! We have been praying for you. I do hope you are doing well. Hi Joanne...so glad you're ok. Take your time with the clean up. You don't need to get down worse with your health. Besides, like you said, Ivan is right behind. I've been concerned we'll get enough here for damage. We were in the path for awhile. Our roof is nowhere near finished, & winter coming on. So nice of your sister to let us know about you. Hi Okidoll...my knuckles are large, also. The meds also saved my hands. My feet had gotten so stiff in the mornings, I'd have to hold on to the walls, tables, etc. until they'd loosen up. I've really needed their help this week. My son (divorced) & his 2 little girls ( he has them every other week) have had a stomach virus....my step-dad went into the nursing home suddenly (I've got his appt full of furniture, etc & a storage rental to empty out), the TV station has really been in a bind this week needing my "extra" help. I'm getting ill at the TV Station..... Tired of cleaning..... & I'm turning into a mad woman!!!! Well.........I've vented.....so, I feel better now! Have a good evening! |
Good morning ladies hope everybody is or going to have a great thursdayJoanne glad that you are ok sorry about all the yard work that you will have to be doing :( Angel seems like you had a crazy day on wednesday  hope by now things have calmed downwas wondering I have one knuckle on my hand but below the fingerthat is swelled all the time do you think that could be a starting of RA I do have a swelled wrist that I did get x rayed all he said was it is not broken its just days when it is :rain: besides my legs and knee I really feel it!!!!!!!and no fun in hurting all over and knowing that things still have to get on well ladies hope you all have a pain free day Rita:wave:
|
Just checking in. I've felt good this week, but already worring about next week. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy next Thursday and after today I can not take any of my meds. If I run out of my Arthrotec for a day or two the arthritis pain gets really bad, so I'm sweating going with out it for a whole week.
This has been a really busy week, Besides being a short week, I had a friend who had surgery Tuesday and spent the day at the hospital with her family, and the had a church group in for dinner Tuesday night. Work has been pretty busy too. Sorry I don't have time to stay and chat, but welcome to Okidoll. Where in OK are you? Did you say? I'm in Dallas Tx and venture up into Okieland every so often. |

Hey There
It looks like Ivan may pass me by here in west central Fl. I have had a little medical problem this past week. I ended up in e.r. They say I have a solid mass on my left ovary.. I say a gyn Dr. today. I told him to take them out,a women 71 years old doesn't need ovarys. He said he would check my records and call me ...I guess Ivan is the least of my problems right now... I am being very optomistic...Hope you all are well..Joanne
|
JOANNE! I am SOOO sorry! I know it must be scary. I'm sure the Dr will take good care of you. I'm praying for you, my friend. I'm glad the hurricane isn't looking so bad your way...may be coming in our direction. It'll probably just be bad wind & rain by the time it gets here. We do worry about the roof, though. We had a very bad storm Sunday night. It tore the tarp off the roof, & my house was drowned again, for about the 3rd time. I kind of got upset & went to bed. When I got up Monday morning, all the water had been gotten up. DH said he didn't do it. So DS must have. I don't think he's seen me that upset in awhile. :^: Hope all of you have a good day. Maybe I'll have my mother & step-dad's appt & storage cleared out soon, & be back to normal. (whatever that is. ) |
Good Afternoon Ladies hopeing that everyone is having a great day!!!!!!!!!Angel sorry to hear about the rain and damage hope that you wont get any more until you get it fixed Joanne glad that Ivan will miss ya!!!!!!also hope things go well for you concerning your tests so my prayers are with you at this time well the rest of you ladies have a great Tuesday Rita

Good afternoon to everyone.
http://photos.imageevent.com/happyca...ingsmilies.gifhttp://photos.imageevent.com/happyca...ingsmilies.gif sending you a big bunch of smiles. Angel - sorry to hear about the water. Why is it taking so long to get the roof on? I guess I don't understand that. I think I would be up there with a whip, getting it done  It must be tremendously stressful for you. Joanne - I hope things go well for you. I was happy to see your sister post and let us know you were having problems. She should come join us. Rita - I know you are working and I hope your days are going well. Pam - gosh, it seems awhile since you posted. I hope you are feeling better. Grasshopper - where are you? I hope that everything hasn't gotten you down. Barb - Glad to hear that someone is feeling better. I had company all last week and at the end of the week came down with a sinus problem. Boy, have felt not so good the past few days. Hopefully, it is on it's way out, but woke up with one of those darn sinus headaches. Of course, this invites Mr. arthur itis and my fibro pal to start their shennanigans as well. Oh what a life we lead!!! Hope you all have a good day. :) |
What a yucky afternoon. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy tomorrow morning and I've been on liquids all day, and now I have started drinking that horrible stuff you have to drink!!! I've been doing okay, except for the fact that I had to get off all my meds for a week for this thing tomorrow, I'll be glad when it's over so I can start them up again!
|
Barb, good luck with that. Never had one, but understand the drink is the worst. Hope everything comes back normal. I do hope you are not in a great deal of pain right now.
|
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...dex_image2.gifhttp://img61.photobucket.com/albums/.../Butterfly.gif Hello everyone, Well, looks like Ivan is headed this way. We're not suppose to get the hurricane itself...but, some of the tropical storms & winds. We're being told to get everything prepared. School has been let out for the next 2 days, & it's already raining. DS has tried to fix the roof to not leak. Of course, if the winds get very strong, the tarp won't hold up. I just hope & pray the ROOF holds! Our daughter & her 2 little girls are here from close to Mobile. Her husband & son stayed home to ride out the storms. Her community is in the direct path of Ivan. If I don't post for awhile, you'll know I'm just busy, or without power. Happy Kanuk...Thanks for the smilies! I love them. I'm sorry you've been sick. Those sinuses can really create problems. Hope & pray you're better. Well, my friend, the roof situation is a long story, as well as the rest of the house, but I'll try to make it short. DH has very little help with rebuilding the house back. Our children help all they can. Two of them & their families are from out of town. One stays on the road all the time with her job, but her husband has been great to help us every chance he gets. Our son that lives with us....helps sometimes. (could help more!) Our money is tight, so we couldn't hire help. Now, for the rest of our family (which is his, I don't have anyone young enough) ...I have no idea why they don't help. He's done a lot for all of them. They just don't seem to think it's their problem. The most they do, is ask how "the house" is going. We've had work days set up, with grilled food, etc. No one showed up, except our children, & friends at the TV Station. It was too embarrassing to do it again. We didn't know what to tell our friends. Anyway, DH works...comes home & goes to work on the roof. It's a large house...especially since we're adding on. The trusses shifted, & he had to take some down & put up again. It's been 90+ degree weather. He works on it Saturdays, days off, & even Sunday evenings after church. One man, alone, can't build a house back very fast. We are both very tired of it all. It will be 2 yrs in November since the fire. Still, no kitchen, sheetrock on walls, floorcovering, etc. We're seriously thinking of putting a "for sale" sign on it, & walking away. We'll just have to think about it some more. ageoldie...good luck with your colonoscopy. I've had about 3 of them. The worse of all 3 was the junk I drunk & bathroom "duties". I was throwing up, too! I lost 2 lbs overnight, when I had the last one. :^: Sure hope everything is ok. Joanne...have you heard anymore from your Dr? Still thinking of you, my friend, & praying. :) Grasshopper...you've been gone too long. I'm getting concerned. Let us know how you are. okidoll...don't leave us. We're just a little slow posting these days. Seems we all get to feeling pretty rough at the same time. Telepathy between friends, I guess. :^: Iamgonnadoit...hope you're doing well. That was some beautiful graphics you gave us for 9/11. Thanks. Rita....Hope you're doing well today. You asked about your wrist & finger. It's a possibility that it's RA. Usually, though, the other hand will do the same thing within just a few days, with RA. It sounds more like OA to me. Your Dr should be able to tell you with a quick xray. That's how my general DR knew to send me to a rheumy....just one finger was swollen & giving me problems! A lot of people just have RA in their hands (my daughter does...& I'm not using the word "just" lightly). It's strange how this disease progresses with different people. It went through my whole body within a few months. I hope I haven't missed anyone. If I have, please forgive me, & bring it to my attention. I cherish all of our friendships. Hope you all are safe, & not hurting too badly. Like I said...storms headed this way. I'll post when I can. Take care. Charlotte |
Good morning Ladies hope that everyone is having a pain free day just got in from walking 8 blocks now I am ready to die:lol: didnt realize how out of shape I amCharlotte thank for the info about RA my wrist is always swelled on my L handdid get x ray on it and the dr said it wasnt broken tghen on my other hab\nd my knuckle on my hand is always swelled do know I have oa of the knees and hips so am taking meds and live with it I sure know what you are going thru with the roof when works needs to be done no one is around but let them have somethingthat they need help with that is a different story Ageoldie good luck with your test and may you have postive results had one several years ago and just glad that it was over quick!!!!!! well the rest of you ladies have a great day RitaRita:dance:

Hello gals, I'm having a bad time lately. :halfempty
First off, let me apologize for not being more social. I was trying to do one of those Oprah change your life for the better weeks. Thinking the only thing keeping me from exercising more was just me. I don't know, but I'm really hurting and so weak. I have been ignoring an issue for about the last year and a half -- I'm very fortunate not having to work. I'm only 31 but haven't worked since I was 26. My husband is an angel  . He works at a job that wasn't his chosen career path because it takes care of us. He doesn't complain, but I know he probably wanted to have the career he studied for (meteorology). That being I used to have all the time in the world and more energy to work out and take care of my house, but I'm finding I can't do it. I started out really well this week. I walked on my treadmill two days straight with 35 minutes on one day and 45 the next. Well, I feel like ****. I have noticed this has been happening for over a year now. I don't know what to do? I'm really, really frightened and saddened, because it isn't just about losing weight, but it makes me think I'm losing this stupid battle. I'm afraid I'm going to get bigger and bigger. I I guess I'm just whining, but it seems like an evil cycle --- I need to move so I'm not so stiff and exercise is good for the body and soul, but after I've done I'm just drained and hurting for the next several days. I've got to get a handle on this. |
The dreaded colonoscopy is over, everything was fine, now I can relax for another 5 years! And Angel you are so right, the prep is much worse that the procedure.
Okidoll, you really should find some water to work out it, it does wonders for your body. The days I don't make it to the water, I can really tell my whole body stiffens up. Angel hope you make it okay with Ivan, and hope your daughter does not get too much damage. Well, I'm sleepy again, so I think I'll end now. |
I'm glad your test went well, Barb. My mom is getting ready to have her's done. She' is thrilled
gosh I just love those smilies!! well, yesterday I decided to break it up. I did walk 15 minutes at 2.8-3.o mph on my treadmill :tread: so ... i guess that is something. |
Hey There
Hello Everybody...I think of all the tests the colonoscopy is the worst. The prep is so awful, I just want to say no way . At least it will about 5 years befor I do it again...The older we get the harder it is..
I am having some surgery first week in October.. I will be losing some more of my female parts..More fun! I hope you all are having a great weekend...Joanne |
Good afternoon all. I just had to check in and see what the RA world is up to.
Okidoll, I hope you don't get to discouraged. Its funny how a couple of bad days can threaten to undo everything a person's worked so hard for. Maybe it would help to break it down a bit and walk for 15 minutes a couple times a day. There's no sense in overdoing it then paying for it for the next few days. I think that is possibly harder on your body than doing little bits at a time. I'm to that point too. Things are starting to hurt more and I get some swelling and tender spots. My arm hurt for 3 days after I held my brand new nephew for like 20 minutes. I'm taking methotrexate and bextra. I'm maxed on both of them. Trying to hold out for February though. That's when my insurance will finally pay for treatment. Darn those pre-existing clauses. Then I'll get to try some of the newer stuff like remicade or enbrel. Hang in there! Hope everyone has a great rest of the day.. :cb: Chris ( l like the dancing banana, don't you?) |
Hi
Goodmorning Everybody..I hope your weekend was good. I ate out and we all know that is going to put on the extra pounds..I did some work in the yard last week and I am still hurting.. I haven'y walked this week and that is no ones fault but mine. The Dr. gave me a date for my surgery and the waiting is playing it's tricks on me.. I just want to get it over so I can settle down.I think all these storms here in Fl. has put everybody out of sorts..
Welcome Chrily..WW is a good program. I liked the 123 point system the best. It worked for me when nothing else did.The RA meds you are on will not help you in your journey to lose the weight. Just don't give up though. Stay on your program and try for some exercise daily. Water therapy is usually the easiest for people with RA or OA. Bye...Joanne |
chrily! Thanks for checking in. Hope you stay with us. I hope the Remicade helps you as much as it does me. Maybe you'll get to start it soon. Well, we survived Ivan. We had a power outage....& lots of kids here. We had a small birthday party for a 4 yr old granddaughter from South Al. When the others came, they got stuck here. That was fine, only nothing to cook supper on, or no place to sleep. We finally cooked the spaghetti on the grill...I had already thawed the ground beef, so I had to cook it. Then, for sleeping...we had to think of a way to put air in the air mattresses! If you're ever in a tight, remember, wave a garbage bag around to fill with air, then hold it to the hole on mattress & push the air in from the bag!! Didn't take many bags, at all! ;) We had people everywhere, but, enjoyed being together. Daughter's house in South Al got damage. Large tree fell through garage onto truck..both are gone. Lost about 4 more large trees. There little town received a lot of damage. There motor home in gulf shores...stored out in the elements, didn't receive a single scratch! :) There's a lot of people in out community still out of power, but, ours is back on. It was a beautiful weekend. Joanne...what day is your surgery on? Please keep us informed. ageoldie...glad your colonoscopy went well. Take care of yourself. okidoll...sorry you've been having such a bad time. One of the things we have to do with this disease, is to accept it. Realize your limitations. You can't exercise as much as you could before you got it. I can't exercise at all. My feet hurt a lot, just to walk across the yard, or wear shoes. It's not a death sentence...you can have a happy life...but, not the life you once had. I had to put a lot of things behind me...but, I picked up other things. I love the volunteer work I do at the TV Station. I love to sing. So, I concentrate on that. The fatigue is overwhelming sometimes....just stop & do nothing....when that happens. Do what you can when you feel like it. I use to worry, also, about what others thought, because they don't understand. But, you know what? They don't know my feelings...so I stopped worrying. If you feel like walking on the treadmill, that's good...but, don't push yourself. You can lose weight without it, I did...last year. I know what you mean about your DH. Mine is great, too. I feel guilty because I don't help more. Sometimes, even the meals are fast food I bring in, because I've been too weak to be up. I feel guilty because he's worked hard all day. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that you're not alone. A lot of us are in your same situation. Don't beat yourself up for what you can't do. Just do what you can. Hope you're feeling better. Hope everyone has a great Monday! |

Good evening. Had to check on all my RA and OA friends to see how you were all feeling today.
Okidoll-hope you're feeling better. RAR-hope your day is going good. Joanne-I'm not too familiar with water therapy. Do you have to know how to swim? Because I can't swim at all, not to mention I look horrible in a bathing suit. I'm going to keep up with WW and see if I can lose some more. My problem is I think I unintentionally cheat on it. To the rest of you, I hope you all had a good day. Mine hasn't been bad. The calf on my leg is feeling funny again. I had a Baker's cyst that ruptured not to long ago, so I'm assuming my leg has the same thing AGAIN! Barb-glad your test went well. I've heard so many horror stories about it. Horrible but a good test to have. TTFN and sleep well, girls! |
