Grasshopper- Nice to hear from you again. My knees are not hurting as bad, I was able to do 2 miles on the Treadmill today.
Most medications for pain are really supposed to be short term. I take Darvocet n 100 for pain but only one time a day. I can take it 2 times a day if I need to. I rather use Advil first. Some days I take nothing. If it gets too bad I will get an injection. I haven't had to have one of those in a long time.I would give anything to have a warm pool or hot tub to go to every day. My son has a hot tub ,but ,he lives 15 minutes away. Too much trouble to go there for 20-30 minutes. And I never know if he has company. His girl friend might be there. I don't think mama would be welcome then.My bathtub will have to do...
Have a good weekend..Hello everybody...Joanne
Joanne, I relate to you. My son only lives 2 doors away, and he has a pool, but somedays it's just too much trouble to walk down there, and he tells me I'm almost always welcome, JUST CALL FIRST!!!
And Deb, I relate to you too. My DH did some serious damage to his kidneys by taking pain meds for too long. Now he has just been to the doc for the arthritis in his knees, and the doc wanted to start him on celebrex, but he's going to go talk to his kidney specialist before he takes them. You might want to check out the Weight Loss Surgery thread here at 3FC. It's really good and there are some very knowledgable folks there that can help you along with the decisions to consider WLS. I post on there all the time because we started it when my DH was going through it. He is now over 2 years out and I still hang out there, cause everyone is so much fun.
I am back!!!.....Did you miss me???
OMG I am so tired you would never believe....... The Wedding was lovely....the week was great but went too quick.......the weather was out of this world.......and I am absolutely wasted. I now have an addition to the family in the form of a DIL and thats nice too. Anyway I do hope you have ALL had a great week and a wonderful July 4th weekend. I will get back in due course and chat but at the moment I need sleep.Catch you soon .........
Ageoldie- I know just what you mean. Ofcourse ,my son usually calls us before he comes here too. Ofcourse things are different when they are single and have a girlfriend.
Deb- Please look very carfully into WLS. There is a less invasive method called banding,I think. It is still surgery but they put a band on part of the stomach. It seems to me that could be reversible if there complications. But, do go to the site Ageoldie gave you. We have a couple ladies in Tops who have had WLS and are very happy they went that route. Most of our illness is from overweight. I have lost 70 lbs and I can't begin to tell you the difference in my health and life. I still have my arthritis problems, but, not to the extent of going to E.R .like it was before. Now if I could reverse the ageing.
Hello Everybody..Joanne
Thanks for that advice......I am looking into it very carefully. Have a list of books to read on it. Now to just get the nerve up and request them through inter library loan.
Grasshopper...Just close your eyes ,so to speak, and do it!Get the materials and to heck what anybody else thinks. It is your life. Do whatever you have to do to get healthy. You will be glad you did...I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.. Joanne
Good morning ladies. Hope everyone is having a lovely day. It's raining and miserable her but I'm trying not to let it dampen my mood. My husband and I are relocating to Maryland in a few weeks, and I've been so busy looking for houses, etc... that I've been neglecting my friends here.
Sorry.
Anyway, new house. So exciting. It's out in the middle of nowhere, on an old farm. I can't wait!
This guy here, he lives in the side yard. Wandered in one day and decided to hang around. I'm going to name him Wilbur.
Here's a photo of the house. I've never lived in a single family home before, I've always been "attached" to my neighbors somehow. This is going to be such a kick!
Pam - nice to see you made it back. You must be really tired. That was a very fast trip and with the jetlag, you are probably down for the count.
Khewes - nice looking house, and a brand new pet Well, that will keep you busy with moving and stuff.
Deb - whatever it takes, go for it. The weight is just such a hinderance to good health. If you can get rid of it, and then eat healthy you will do ok.
Joanne - gee, I hope you are feeling better now. If you want water, you should come up here. God turned on the tap, and left it running Boy, a LOT of rain has fallen, and we are not through yet. I think the drought IS over!!
Hope everybody is doing ok. Haven't seen Laura on or Charlotte for awhile. Hope you ladies are out enjoying summer.
Khewes- It looks like you have found your little piece of heaven. I love the country. My daughter has a ranch in North Fl. She is surrounded with cow pastures. North Fl. is hilly and beautiful.
Happy- I have finally given up on my neck. I am seeing the Dr. tomorrow. Sunday was nothing but pain. Rain all around me and none on my place. We spent most of yesterday with the water running. I hate to see my water bill this next month even though we have a well for watering the yard.
Pam- Your time over here was not very long? I have never been to your country. I read a lot so I will have to be satisfied with that.
Laura- I was in Texas once. Elpaso.. My brother was there before he go out of the Army..Just for a week.
Grasshopper- Hello.. Hope you are doing well.
Bye all...Joanne
Hi girls,
I have not been here in a week. Just didnt feel good. Better now. I tried to read some of the posts, but I didn't read them all.
I have to take pain meds every day for my R.A. I take 80 mg of methadone a day. My doctor kept increasing my pain meds and said he didn't want me to get addicted to vicodin and he worried about the tylenol. So now I am addicted to methadone I am sure I am if not yet. So I told him to start bringing me down off of it. I take 4 10 mg in the morning and 4 10mg in the afternoon. He started me out at 1 10mg tablet 4 times aday. This was before we found a med like methitrexate and humira to help, so that took a while because I had to find a way to pay for the humira and the methotrexate caused blood problems fo a while, so after months of having nothing to stop the progression of the R.A. he used the methadone for pain. So finally He is going to take me down to 1-3 pills a day as needed for pain. Crazy huh. I wish he would have kept me on the vicodin because the methadone I ended up taking more of it than I would have the vicodin, its because you get a tolerence built up fast using the methadone. I never had trouble with the vicodin building up a tolerence like that. Now the vicodin is almost like taking tylenol. My aunt just had surgery and they had to double the ordinary amount of morphin for the pain because her doctor did the same thing and gave her mthadone for pain. I guess a lot of Doctor are giving metgadone out for chronic pain. I think even more so if you are low income, because its cheaper for the state health plan than other pain killers. I know I hate taking this much pain meds. I am afraid of going through withdrawls because methadone is a sinthetic heroin.
Lucky me The Doc said he has to take me off of it slow.
Thats all for now
Oh Yeah I gained weight I was 184 now I'm 188.5. Iblew when my aunt was in the hospital I went crazy with ice-cream and cookies. So I have to get back on the wagon. My but glue didn't work.

Sorry to hear about your troubles Laura. Know what you mean about the pain meds. Doc just put me on Vicadin and I'm afraid of the addiction factor. The only plus side is that it makes me feel nasty so I only take it when I REALLY need it. Pretty sad when that's a plus side. I'll keep you in my prayers.
Was home from work today due to the back. Can't say I did much other than sleep. I wish God would at least send me some good dreams! lol. Then again, I should be careful what I wish for....probably have dreams about food or something. lol
Glad to see Angel is back! Kewes the house looks cool! I had and uncle that swore by his goat.....better guard than a dog! lol. Wilbur the Guardgoat!!!!! Sorry, made me laugh...I'm blaming it on the meds. lol. (Keep hearing the theme to High Noon thinking aobut my uncle's goat)
Thanks for the support about the surg. I know that some of my family aren't going to like it when I bring it up. Figure I'm just not going to tell them until I'm days before the surg. All I know is that I'm tired of feeling this way......that I'm too young for this and I'm afraid of how I'll be at 60. I'm rolling up on 34 in a few weeks......30 wasn't bad (other than that's the year my back went) but I think 35 will be horrible if I'm in the same boat.
Hope everyone is staying cool.......lots of rain here! Parts of my town got flooded so bad it's on the news all over the state. I'm okay......except my hair looks like a spooked cat. lol.
Laura- I hope your Dr. can find something less addicting for you and you can get control of your pain.
Deb- You are in charge of your body. Do what you have to to get healthy. Your family should have nothing to say about it..If you think they will give you grief, don't tell them till you are in the hospital. Then if it bothers you let a friend do it.. They will only stay mad a while..I didn't tell anyone but my close family the last time I got serious about losing. They didn't have faith that I would do it...You can do this. I didn't see any of them for several weeks and pound down..Then they thought I was sick..
Hello everybody..Joanne
