Default Fructose malabsorption and weight loss

Hi all!
I'm hoping someone can give me some great information! I've recently been diagnosed with fructose malabsorption and it's becoming incredibly hard to lose weight. My doctor gave me a list of foods that I can tolerate but seriously, how can I lose weight eating white POTATOES!! I need to lose about 25 lbs. Are there any FM experts out there with some great advice??

Owee!

I found THIS nice document from University of Wisconsin Health for folks needing to reduce dietary fructose. Hope it helps. Didn't your physician provide you with some guidelines? Or set you up with a nutritionist? You should check back with them, especially if things are not going well for you.

While potatoes are on the ok list, you still don't have to eat them!

Thanks for your reply!

My doctor did give me some guidelines; however, it's not many choices. Every time I try a knew vegetable I blow up like a balloon. Anyway, I was hoping someone may have some advice how to get started. I don't eat white potatoes often, however that's one of the only things I can eat and not get sick.

I may just need to see a nutritionist.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply though.
Take care.

How awful! And I see what you mean...there are more Stay Away From lists than Here's What You Can Eat lists. Here's one (for children) with such a list...(you've probably found it already). Can you tolerate salads? Coleslaw (homemade)? Stews and soups or stir fry (with onion, carrots, celery)?

Folks could throw out suggestions for you if we knew your weight loss plan and eating preferences....You're right--Lack of variety makes elimination diets so much tougher!

I've been looking up lists for myself to try and figure out my own intestinal distress problems...
