  • Hey There
I got a bug in my computer a few days ago. The shield I am supposed to have didn't catch it. What a pain. Thanks to my son it is gone and with little damage. It was sent to my sons office and ofcourse to me. Dummy me I thought it was a card from my son and opened it. I will not open anymore of these things!
The weather has cooled off some here in central Fl. It won't last long.
Meme - I hope you feel better soon. I think Mima is right ,it sounds like you have a sinus infection. I had a bad one a few years ago and thought I was going to die. What pain!
Ally- It does seem like the kids will never grow up sometimes. My youngest is 44 and I still wonder. One thing is for sure they think they know it all. I am trying to just ride the wave.. That is all any of us can do.On the candy..I finally put the bag of Halloween candy outside in the freezer. I still know where it is ,but ,it is harder to get to. HA!
Mima- I hope you are feeling the best ever when you take your trip.. You will have to tell us all about it when you get home.
I started making a baby blanket, get this, for my great grand niece. Now if that won't make a person feel the years I wonder what will.. I will be only 70 in march.. I am not ready to admit to this and will just keep trying to think younger. Think that will work? I wonder, when my knees hurt and I sleep with a heating pad summer and winter.. When I sleep..
    Bye...Joanne
  • Hi
Joanne, 70 is NOT old. Seniors today are so young, compared to their parents. Heck, there is a lot of life to live yet!

Ally - I don't envy you trying to raise kids today. It is tough, with ready access to drugs and alcohol and heaven knows what else! I just heard on the news, that the latest craze drug is called sectasy - that is ectasy and viagra mixed! What in the world are these kids thinking?

Meme - I hope you get to feeling better soon. What a terrible year you have had. I hate sinus infections. They are hard to clear up and always seem to leave a postnasal drip. Hope the medication works. Now losing your hair is a real bummer. Like you, I have tons of hair. I got my brothers share as well as my own Hopefully it is from the medication.

Mima - glad you are feeling better today.

Joanne - I don't think that our kids ever grow up in our eyes. I am sure my Mom thought the same thing about us. However, they do seem to be self sufficient individuals and they are making it out there in the world, so I have to assume that they are ok.

Anagram and Candice - Hi. hope you are both doing well.

Still plugging along on my diet. I can truthfully say that I have not had a drop of sugar or flour or any other carbs that I am not supposed to have in a month. I have lost now about 12.5 pounds. It is slow going, but it is going. I feel good, have energy, and the biggest plus for me, is that the fatigue is pretty well gone. Also, the yeast infection seems to be in check. I hope it all lasts. I have absolutely no cravings for sugar or sweets at all. Only my mind if it sees something that it thinks it WOULD like:lol

Well, hope everyone has a good day.
  • Visiting the board again. Lost a pound (or more) at weigh-in today. I will look up exact amount before I post on the Lighter Brigade site.

    Freddie
  • Happy you better not open the box of cookies I sent you!

Just flurries here and I got some yard work done but I accidently dug up some perenials when getting rid of some stuff. I replanted them but do any of you know if it too late for them to survive the winter? Still more work out there....Ugh!

Meme...My hair fell out when I was on antibiotics for a long time..It did come back but is still very thin.

Ally...You poor thing.......I'll send you some cookies too!

Mima....they gave you a flu shot with a cold?????

Joanne...I have Norton antivirus but I know they do not always get them all! Glad your son got it fixed.

Freddie...thanks for the cleaning tips..I need all the help I can get in fact why don't you come over and help me!

Anagram..I went in the rain and dark late to vote too!
  • Oprah tips on Weight loss:

  • EEKS-I got on the scale yesterdfay and I gained 7 lbs-I had an egg and spelt toast for breakfast-going to try low carbs-only complex and lots of fruit and veggies. I know Brad has gained a little too but he works very hard and burns it up. Feel a bit better-anyone try zicam-swabs or spray you put in your nose and it's suppossed to lessen the duration of a cold. I bought some at Walmart yesterday. Will let you know. So since I was home I wrapped presents and got all my stuff-paper- out of the attic. I will walk a bit today but since I am ill it won't be too much. And check on my throid med. Bye for now Mima
  • I sent a message about 10 minutes ago and this site wouldn't accept it. I think it was because I waited so long to write it because I was so busy on Candice's Oprah's site she gave. It took me a long time to copy and paste good information in my Appleworks. Now if I can find it in my cluttered files I will be alright.

  • Hey There
Candice- My sister has Norton.. I am going to wait for an update notice with the one I have and see how that is..
Happy- It looks like you are doing really good with the wt. loss. I know I need to cut my carbs ..It seems that I need a certain amount. My sugar levels drop and I just get sick. I am maintaining at goal wt. I just don't know how, lately. I have been doing a lot of bad eating. On and off tract a lot. No exercise to speak of. I felt so much better when I was on my walking schedule. I don't know what is worse, feeling lousy or pain from walking. I see my Dr in a week or so.
    Sorry about the complaining...
    Hello everyone....Joanne
  • Did I tell you I am on probation? Got a traffic ticket for doing 36 in a 25-mph zone. If I am good until Nov. 7, 2003, my slate will be wiped clean. Have to attend traffic school for 1 day next
Saturday. My lead feet have become heavier with age because all I wear now is old-ladies heavy walking shoes.
  • No exercise, Joanne? I'd say all that packing was exercise. Good for you for maintaining at goal and good luck with doctor. Will you be scheduling?

And Happy, you're fading away. That's a great weight loss but even better that your fatigue is gone. I'm feeling like a lot of mine is gone with the Synthroid but it's taking a longer time to kick in than I thought it would. Also doing better with arthritis. My mind is not familiar with this body that doesn't need to sit down every five minutes and can go for 10 or 15.

MeMe and Mima, sounds like you ladies have had a doozy of a cold. Hope it's soon well.

Hey, Leadfoot Freddie, better behave yourself. Are you going for a second opinion or more tests or still deciding?

Need to get some yard cleanup done too Candice. It's to be beautiful here the next couple of days but I'll be going to daughter's tomorrow and next day to see dgd's and babysit so they can do Christmas shopping, etc. Have a bunch of things to get in yet this afternoon so don't know how much cleanup I'll get in. Oh well, always Monday.

Have lots more but this post is getting long so I'll go think about lunch.
  • Hi Anagram: Have appointment with the Heart Specialist on Nov. 21 so will wait until I hear what he says and will ask a lot of questions.

    Freddie
  • I finally, finally, FINALLY finished packing up my mother's trailer today. Got everything moved out and cleaned out the frig, vacuumed, etc. It is totally ready to move into. I'm soooo glad that is done. Hubby made a driveway last weekend from the other end of the property so renters wouldn't be coming around our house...cost me $400 just for gravel! I also bought a small storage building for renters, had to pay nearly $300 in insurance and another $100 to our lawyer for a rental contract. Sure hope this renting thing works out!

I feel like I've been dragged through a back ally! (No offence, ally!) I coughed all night last night. Was still up at 4:30...hubby came in my room and asked why I was up already! Then did all that at the trailer and THEN went out to eat and got groceries at Wal Mart. I'm pooped. Oh yes...I also made pictures of some beautiful Harmony House Starlight dishes mom left then put one place setting of them on ebay. Here's the link if you'd like to see them... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=2070237885

Well...I'm going to go take a hot shower, a dose of cough medicine (or two), 2 Tylenol PMs and go to bed!!! Hopefully I'll sleep tonight! (Hope you are feeling better, Mima!)
  • Nice dishes Meme..someone will grab those up I'm sure!

My son was here to finish the mowing and brought his girlfriend to help. We did some yard work too and my hips are paying for it but just a tiny bit left for me to do..what a relief to close the yard for the winter! I had thrown some chops in the crockpot with some saurkraut and lite polish sausage so they stayed for supper, did some mashed taters and broccoli and cauliflower with a salad.
  • Hi I wish this dumb cold would go away. I am so stuffy despite all the meds I take. Hope Brad doesn't get it-he's suppossed to get his flu shot next week. We are leaving on the 21st. Just found out that we are going to FL right after Christmas. for a couple of weeks-free. Driving!we get back on Dec 5-I go to work for a week- and then we leave right after Christmas. Yikes!!!!Never a dull moment with my husband. I am trying to get my shopping done and actually wrapped. Getting there!!!I did not get the cold til after the flu shot but I was vary congested right before so it was coming on. Hope everyone stays well. Mima
  • Lead foot Freddie. I have a speeding ticket too...It will be on my record for 18 months then will be gone. I went to Defensive driving and lost the 4 points that it gave me on my license.
Meme.....I feel like I have been dragged down an Ally too. Sometimes I would just like to change my name, move and not tell anyone.
Mima.....Oppositional Defiant and Condct disorder is just another word for "knuckleheads". There are more and more of them every year. Must be in the water... You will dump that 7 pounds shortly.
Happy......I would not want to be a kid now. I was introduced to pot in college. That was the early 70s. Everyone did it. It was all over the place. I tried it many times. Partly to b cool, partly out of curiosity. The first few time, I felt nothing and thought it was no big deal. Then one time I tried to drive and had to pull over cause I couldn't go any faster than 10 miles an hour. Never did it again after that..... My kids will be the type to be in places where pot is over and over. Too much peer pressure.
    Hi Amagram and Joanne.
It is 65 degrees in NY. I am going out to rake leaves.
