Question Iodine for weight Loss and thyroid support?

Hello Community! <3

I am new here but before I came here I started using Iodine as a supplement to support my under active thyroid. I felt so good on the Iodine that I thought I could go off of my synthroid (bad mistake). But I do believe that the iodine has made positive strides in improving my hypothyroidisim. I am currently taking levoxal 250mcg daily as well as 6mg of Iodine orally in liquid form daily.

Im interested if anyone else is currently using Iodine and what their experiences with it have been?
My symptoms have ranged from SEVERE detox to extreme joy and increase in energy and decrease in apatite.
Does anyone who has Hypothyroidisim supplement their diet intentionally with Iodine? kelp, seaweed, ect.
Has anyone used Iodine and successfully lost weight because of it?

I have been on Kelp before but I could not tell you if it was specifically that or a combination of the other supplements I was taking.
While taking them all I felt pretty good but the woman that I was getting them form (my reflexologist) got sick with ovarian cancer and quit working. I could order them on line but just have not done it.
I am sitting her trying to think of all I was taking.
Adrenal support, cranberry buchu, magnesium & calcium, and kelp. I think that was it besides what I usually take which is a multivitamin and fish oil with flax and borage oil. Since stopping what I was getting from the reflexologist I started on a B complex to help with the adrenal loss but nothing else.

Sorry not much help.

hmmm, I've heard about taking iodine, I personally like taking the thyrosense supplements by lorna vanderhege. Her book, sexy hormones, is a great read!

How do you take iodine, in pill form or droplets, etc? I'm curious about this. Where do you get it from?

I am hypothyroid and have only begun treatment this year. I see a naturopath and I she said she may supplement me with iodine later but not yet. Right now she's got me on 1 grain of desiccated thyroid hormone daily. She used to have me on a supplement that did have trace amounts of iodine it it and I did pretty well on that, I think I am going to ask to go back on it because I felt better when I was on it. She has given me the green light to use iodized sea salt and eat seaweed. I do really enjoy the "seaweed salad" at the Japanese restaurant I go to. They have two kinds and I enjoy them both- I think my body craves them.

I think my body craves iodine too! I like the seaweed salads too!

I take iodine in drop form in the mornings with a big glass of water. Its important to supplement with Selenium too when taking larger doses of iodine. If you guys want to see where I get it google Jcrow's Iodine and SOMEWHERE in there it has some information on iodine and why our diets would leave us deficent in iodine.

PLEASE RESEARCH before you start taking it if your interested. When I was on detox level doses of it I had some crazy detox symptoms that could have been mistaken for preminant PMS. BLEH. But now i feel better than ever before the detox and i maintain at 6mg per day.

xoxo
