  • Hey There
Anagram- Be positive about your weight loss. I know that a change in medication causes problems when you are trying to lose. Just be real careful and you will probably maintain and even lose. I am going to try and be careful these two weeks away. I just have to make sure my sister doesn't cook. I think I will do most of the cooking with my brothers help. His wife works all the time so this will help her out.
Candice- I am getting the treatment now, which I expected, that is supposed to make me real guilty for going away for 2 weeks. I have it all arranged. He can put a TV dinner in the oven or my son can come over and cook. I can hardly wait to get on the plane.
Effenbee- What makes you a devil?????
    Bye...Joanne
  • When you are as old as I am, you are allowed to be a little devilish. I am still having trouble with getting to this site. I couldn't this morning and now it is 3 pm so it only took two tries.I gained 0.25 pound at weigh-in today so I lost my traveling gift, as it is called. Must maintain or stay the same for 4 weeks and then you get to keep gift. The last one opened had $10 in it.

  • Well here it is almost 7 pm in Virginia and it took me 3 tries to try to get here, and here I don't have those cute devils and things. Maybe I should try the other place - if I can get there at this busy time of the evening. It's almost 4 pm in the Western part of the USA. I never understand GMT but I know that it is supposed to be the most accurate (but I believe it's 10 minutes off the correct time).

  • Hey There
Effenbee- Let's see if you are older than me.. I am 69. I'll be 70 in March next year. My brother says I am older than dirt. But he is just joking. I can give it as well as take it. Don't worry about the weight . Just keep trying...It might be a water imbalance. ...Joanne
  • Hehehe. Got you beat. I was 79 on my last birthday. Now I can't make a smiley face but here goes a frown and that goes double for my swollen feet and ankles

Thanks for your note Joanne. I will try to remember March 2003 but I wouldn't count on it. My memory is shorter than I am. Another frown

  • Hi
Freddie, I think that it is absolutely fabulous that you are willing to use a computer at 79. I hope (if I ever get there) that I will be like you. I hope your Dr. appointment goes well for you as well. Please don't give up trying to get to us. Freddie, sorry you lost that award. My goodness taking a med can do that to me. I can't seem to lose anything much. I stuck to ww for 6 mo and lost 12 pounds!!!!

Now Joanne can't claim the grandmother of the board award any longer Joanne, I think you have met your match!

Candice - I have never sold tupperware, but I sure have a lot of it. 35 yrs. ago, I had a tupperware party and sold over $500.00. Got a cooler and a cute little picnic basket. I just gave the picnic basket to my daughter. It is an oval shape, with a wooden lid that open half way, and the sides are covered in red and white large gingham. It is trimmed in wicker. It is almost an antique!!!!

Meme - Hope your day hasn't left you frazzled

Mima and Ally - hello. Hope you gals are keeping well.

Krickett - have we lost you?

Anagram - that is how I lost my 12 pounds, .6 and .8 every week, and then maybe 2 pounds and then back to .8 and .6. That is very frusterating.

Hope you all had a good day.
  • Dear Canadian:

Just watching a show on PBS about how good the Canadians treated the Americans that were "stuck" (not correct word) in Canada on 9/11/01.

I usually use TV to help me go to sleep by but this one really kept my interest. So here I am and it's almost Midnight (12 am) here in Virginia.

Tell Joanne I did not get into the computer world until I retired in 1988 from NASA (formerly NACA). I think my son was in town (he lives in CA) and had his lap top computer. Probably an antique now and I wish I had it. Anyway, somewhere along the line I got on the Internet and found a chat site at Harvard or somewhere well-known. Some doctor was writing about his mother and the symptoms she had. It was similar to one of the problems I was having. I emailed him and asked what medicine his mother was given. He e-mailed back and said "Prednisone" (? spelling). Anyway my doctor had told me to see a neurologist but the quickest appointment I could get was 3 months from then. Meanwhile my pain got worse and closer together shooting through my head. Finally it got so bad that I asked my GP to prescribe Prednisone. He said "No". The pain got worse each day until it was coming every few seconds. He finally consented to give me 5 days worth of medicine. The next day I thought I was cured but that was not to be; however, the pain was less frequent. By the 5th day, the pain was gone. I kept my appointment with the neurologist but he couldn't find anything wrong with me. It was then that I decided I had to buy me a computer and get on the Internet. My son was in town and he called his earthlink so he could sign me up. Every thing I wanted was already taken. Finally he was about to give up when he said "I am California Bloch, why don't we try Virginia Bloch" so that is why my e-mail address is [email protected]. It wasn't taken. He is calbloch. I told him that he abbreviated California incorrectly. I guess things could be worse, he could have abbreviated Virginia wrong - something like "virginbloch"

  • Mima: Are you the old Mima that I knew from years back - maybe 1998, 1999, 2000?

If so WW Hugs; if not TOPS Hugs and KOPS Love,

    Freddie, FNB, Effenbee
  • Hey There
Effenbee- I can now say that I am one of the young gals on the block. I never touched a computer untill a few years ago my daughter gave me one. It crashed and I convinced my Hubby I needed one to keep in touch with our children./grandchildren.
Happy- You may be right about meeting my match. As we get "younger" we tend to do that from time to time.
Memi -You say home for good. Does that mean you aren't working and have finally retired? Or just for the time being. I have never regreted retiring. I feel that my life is partly my own now. Ofcourse I have often said I am busier than when I was walking the halls doing patient care .
    Hello everybody..........Joanne
  • Good day to all
Meme, Joanne and Anagram - you ladies have a great holiday. I hope you all come back refreshed and ready to go again.

Effenbee - Hope your day is going well.

Candice - How are you doing? You hardly EVER post anymore!

Ally - Same goes for you. I hope you are doing ok.

Mima - Nice to have you back. Like Joanne said, are you really going to retire?
  • I am back from getting Flu Shot. Stopped and did three errands.

Here I am back with another post

Freddie (who is happy now to be a Senior Member until they [whomever they are] cut me out of 20 or 30 posts)
  • You better look out!
Snow in Canada has arrived - well kind of short term right now, but it is even early for us. Usually some around Halloween. Anyway, thought I would post a picture for you. Took it this morning before the sun was up, and it has just about all melted now, but it is a warning - it is coming. Some of you don't get this much snow all winter, but for us, this is just a tad or a light dusting.
