Justwant2Bhealthy 03-31-2010 11:47 PM

HI LADIES ~ I thought it might be nice to switch to seasonal threads for a change, then the thread would only have to be restarted four times a year. Lately, some of our ladies have had a lot on their plates and are very busy, so this will give us a continuous thread for a longer period too.

I hope you all like the idea -- we had lovely :sunny: and warm weather today (60 F) ... fitting for a Spring Day as well. That is warm for us here. I think most people associate spring with the month of April too, so that is why I am starting it for the beginning of April.

Hope you all have a great week too ... Rosebud :flow1:

TheTigz 04-01-2010 05:22 PM

Excellent idea Rosebud! I can I can put a sofa in the corner and get comfy now! :D

Well, half my living room carpet has been ripped up...:yikes: Went for the laminate flooring today and there's no stopping SO, everything has to be done right away!

Had such a busy week, its been horrendous. Literally have not stopped from the moment I'm up in the morning until 9 or 10 at night. Don't know how much longer I can keep this up. And now the kids are off for 2 weeks!!!!:dizzy: Spent this afternoon at their school helping them with their Easter games.

We've had another dose of snow grrrrr but it has melted quite quickly and it was sunny most of this afternoon.

SO is going to be working on the flooring tomorrow so I have the task of going to the supermarket ALONE!:woohoo: "Yes dear, I will be as quick as I can":s: ROFL!!!!!!!!!!

Well must dash, I have a shopping list to do:drool: Take care all and

:easter2: HAPPY EASTER!!! :easter:

 I think I might do the same, only mine will be a recliner or a rocking chair -- ya, that would be even better. Well, I think we'll try it this way for awhile and see how it goes. We do the Canadian threads that way and I like that. If people don't want to read them all; they can just go back as far as they like ...

We had an absolutely gorgeous day today; not like spring, but like a hot summer day with lots of :sunny: -- and the temps were pushing towards 77 F at one point in the afternoon. Later on, a breeze came and the temps dropped down to 60 F in the shade but it was still nice to sit out on the deck. I had to open the windows this evening to cool the place down a bit.

The only thing was that I had to swat my first skitter today; and I got 'em too. We don't usually see them out until May or June but with all this warmer weather, I guess they woke up or hatched sooner than usual -- hope that isn't a trend ...

We went for a drive in the country to scout out some stones and pebbles for my planting pots which I want to start tomorrow. We managed to bring home a pail of them; more than I needed really but we'll find a use for them somewhere. Want to start my tomato and mini-strawberry plants.

Hope you all have a wonderful EASTER weekend too; and take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-03-2010 11:45 PM

 HI ALL ~ It was very hot today with full :sunny: and some nice wispy clouds and a very strong wind ... that made it like a sand storm at some moments. It was a good thing we had some breeze, as it got up to 83 F in town around dinnertime, but then later on, some clouds rolled in and we just had some :rain: to cool things down.

We spent part of the day doing yardwork -- well, DH did whilst I supervised; he really needed help getting things organized in the back yard. We go through this every spring and now it looks neat and tidy again. OK, so I had to shake my cane a few times, but who's counting? ;)Just kidding ... haha!!! Actually, DH appreciates the helpful tips as organization is not one of his strong points. I also cut DH's hair today, as it really needed it -- he was starting to look like a retired hippy ...

All that took up our day. Then after dinner, we went for a drive in the country as it was much cooler by then. I noticed today that my flower beds are blooming ... I have spring flowers! :carrot:

Hope you all have a HAPPY EASTER!!!

TheTigz 04-04-2010 03:46 PM

Rosebud, where has everyone gone? Maybe we should hold a seance? LOL :grouphug:

Is there anybody there????????

As I sit here sipping my hard-earned OJ and Asti-Spumante, looking at the PILES of chocolate my parents brought over, I ponder one of life's great mysteries... How does the man who drives the snow-plough get to work in the morning?

Woooo random. I may be a little frazzled. My DD has been ill with a bad cough for nearly a week and has now got a secondary infection - Scarlet Fever. Poor wee soul. Wish I could wave a magic wand and take it away. She managed to eat some chocolate today and see her grandparents for an hour or so, but even that took so much out of her. She also can't go visit bio-daddy either, not that she's bothered, but DS is going for a week, or at least that's the plan. See how long he lasts!

Soooooooo, along with all the renovations going on in the house, I've been looking after my poor little baby girl (she's 7 lol). Yesterday, had a 7.30am start, finally stopped at 10.15pm. Today has been just as manic, but it has felt like a very very long day.

Weather here has been great the last 2 days, quite warm, but we have snow forecast for during the night. Our village has been overrun with tourists the last 3 days. First weekend of Spring, blimin nightmare. People walking by the house looking in the windows grrrrrrr.

Anyways, going to chill out and enjoy my drinky-poos. Hope everyone has had a good easter.

Cheers

 HI TIGZ ~ guess it's just you and me right now ... seems lots of folks are on some kind of hiatus from this site lately -- many threads are bare, not just this one (excuse the unintended pun there). Some days, it feels like I am holding a handful of them up all by myself, plus maybe one or two other old faithfuls!

This site seems to grow in spurts -- new people come in all excited, start to lose weight, reach or almost reach their goals, and then disappear. Can't tell you just how many people here are returnees who gained some or all of their weight back; but I'm glad they have come back becuz that means that they have learned a very valuable lesson ... "The road to good health is a lifelong journey!"

Gee ... did you say SCARLET FEVER? Didn't know that disease was still around today! Sounds like something out of a movie or a book to me! Or was that the Scarlet Letter ... haha! Just kidding, but I really hope your daughter is feeling better soon, whatever kind of flu she has -- they are all terrible although, chocolate easter bunnies have an amazingly curitive effect on many children! ;)

Our day was cooler, and but still nice and we went out for a drive to our lot this afternoon and yes, it is still there! :D There was a huge flock of blackbirds of varying kinds out there; it seems we see a different flock each time we go out there; last time was the buntings or snowbirds as they are affectionately called here.

Many of our trees seemed to have perked up this year; maybe it was the milder winter, Only a few look like they may need a bit of help. If we get enuff :rain: that should help them (well, we got some tonight so someone up there heard me). ;) My spring flowers are coming up out there too! :carrot:

The snow is all gone and there were just a few pools of water that need to dry up -- me thinks that we'll be able to go out there and get something done on our small chalet very soon. We were calling it our cabin or caban, but I think Chalet sounds more distinguished, don't you? :)

Hope you all have a great evening and a pleasant Easter Monday too; that is a holiday here for most people too. Our town kinda looked like a ghost town today with nothing open up there. Take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-05-2010 09:21 PM

 Had a great day today ~ got lots accomplished and that always makes me happy. I spent the AM cleaning our back porch whilst DH was out. Then I finished off my shed and found a box of books that have been missing since we moved here! :carrot:

I was glad to get that all done now for spring. I also noticed that more flowers are coming up on our gardens today after a couple of nights of :rain: -- that really seems to have coaxed them a bit. I tidied them up a bit by pulling last years refuse away. Maybe I'll plant a bit of early seed this week for things like salad and radishes, etc.

We had a nice Ham dinner yesterday, and I heated up the leftovers with a potato/carrot scallop with broccoli. I saved the leftover ham for lunch tomorrow too. We both just had some pudding for our dessert but as an evening snack really. NIKO was very happy to get the big Ham bone too!

Hope you all have a wonderful week coming up; do take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-06-2010 10:09 PM

 HI FOLKS ~ had a busy day; went hunting for a new upright vacuum and got the last one at our local hardware store. Gonna try it out tomorrow to see how it works. Picked up a rolling drawer tower on sale for all my miscellaneous desk stuff; plus some totes for the last of the stuff we need to store, so now we should be very organized.

We had lovely weather with lots of :sunny: and the temps got up to 68F and higher by late afternoon. Time to go put my sore feet up and rest them after having my tea. Take good care and hope to hear from some of you soon ... Rosebud :flow1:

I left my head and my heart on the dancefloor!

Sorry just had to share...hehehe

Yeup, Scarlet Fever. Been working its way through the west coast of Scotland. Unbelievable. She is a little better now, was really worried there as she seems to have had quite a bad dose of it. Thank goodness. We have been spoiling her rotten though, with the easter eggs and milkshakes etc etc. Hoping she will be back on her feet by the end of the week.

Made the unfortunate comment to SO today that the God-awful carpet on the stairs was lifting and maybe it was its way of telling us its time it went to the dump. No sooner had the words left my mouth than the carpet was ripped up and the carpet grip was being levered off the stairs. What a guy. He is getting new (well second hand) wheels for our old Jaguar tomorrow, so I guess I won't see much of him after they arrive! LOL She's going to look so classy with her new wheels. I'm quite excited too.

Have been a good girl pretty much for the last few days food wise. Had a lovely salad tonight, God I love veggies. Managed to do some walking today and housework so hopefully I will get my energy and fitness levels up a bit. Had such a bad bout with pain there, lost virtially all my upper leg muscles and control for my left leg. Now I have started the long ardous process of getting it all back. Well, we are supposed to be getting a good stretch with the weather and that helps a lot. Thanks for sending some sunshine Rosebud!

Well, American Idol is starting in a minute, so I will be off. Crystal Rocks. I'm gonna be stunned if she doesn't win this year, but then again, look what happened with Adam Lambert:yikes:

Take care all, wherever you are XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-07-2010 10:03 PM

 HI ~ Just had a quiet day at home today; did some laundry and hung it outside as it was :sunny: and we had a light breeze too. Put our new upright vacuum together tonight; will try it out tomorrow ... :D

My eating has been a little off the last two days; not huge things -- just seemed to be hungrier than usual. Hopefully that will soon pass! I forgot to mention that I did pretty good on my March NO-JUNKIES challenge. I did have one blooper in the last week, but caught myself before I ate a serving of DH's chippies. So whilst I did have one tiny slip up, for most of the month, I did very well.

Anyways, hope you all have a great day tomorrow; and do take good care of yourselves. Just do the best you can each and every day -- but still remember to enjoy life too ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-08-2010 09:25 PM

HEY TIGZ ~ we have some Mr. Bean dvds here; got them for DH for Christmas with some other ones too (old classic shows and movies, etc). I try to find him some comedies every year ... :D

Well, old man winter decided that he didn't want to rest just yet -- we have had a ***** storm here all day long and it's still snowing as we speak or is that write ... anywho, we have SNOW!

Last I looked, there was 4" on my patio table; may have foot by tomorrow, if this keeps up. Well, they are predicting some :sunny: for tomorrow and next week, so it should all melt fairly fast. Guess I get to use my new light shovel on the front deck tomorrow -- knew there was a reason, I felt an urge to buy that .... hahahahaha!

We had a whole bunch of birdies here today; that happens when a storm comes -- funny how they remember where to find a steady supply of food in a pinch ... AT OUR HOUSE! ;) We had a ball watching all their funny antics today: junkos, sparrows, finches, Starlings, and Doves ...

My eating is back on track today; did much better and got lots of walking in this week, plus did my daily exercises. Used my new upright vacumm today and couldn't believe how much hair and dirt it pick up ... it was shocking! The old vacuums really weren't doing that great of a job; more of a surface job, I think!

Anywho, hope this thing lasts awhile becuz it only has a one year warranty: not much confidence in their own products these days, if you ask me. Hope that isn't a sign. I opened up a flyer today and saw a HOOVER on sale for almost half off -- why does that keep happening to me? I kept watching for sales, but we finally just went out and bought the last vacuum in the store becuz we needed one, and then they offer a great sale for next week! :(

OH, WELL .......

Hope you all have a Fabulous Friday tomorrow; and do take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

ronni62 04-09-2010 09:23 AM

Hi, everyone-sorry I've been gone so long. Been missing my 3fc time.

Tigz-so sorry your DD has been ill. They used to say, after having scarlet fever, that you needed to stay on antibiotics the rest of your life to prevent heart infections. Is that still true? Hoping and praying that she's better soon. Your home renovations sound like fun. We'll be having a bathroom re-do in a couple weeks and I can't wait! It started as a ceiling plaster repair that didn't take, but then the contractor who did it won't take care of the problem, so when we contacted someone else, we decided to replace the tub and surround, flooring and ceiling too, so it'll be ready should we finally decide to sell and move.

Rosebud-You just keep busy, busy all the time! I have the same luck with buying things that then go on sale the next week. Here, if the exact same brand and model is advertised at a discount within a month of your purchase at the store where you purchased it, you can go back for a refund of the difference, so sometimes I actually remember to go get my refund:dizzy:. I have some daffodils and hyacinths blooming now, but my crocuses bloomed and died back while I was still in Indiana taking care of Dad's stuff. Really need to get outside and do the spring cutting back and clearing out, but just can't get the motivation for it yet.

Might go to town today to get a new faucet for the bathroom re-do, along with towel bars and look at shower curtains. It's been only a month since we chose the flooring and wall materials, but so much has gone on since that I can't remember exactly what colors and tones are in them, so I'm unsure what color curtains, etc will work. I need a project to take my mind off missing my dad right now, I think, so the bathroom project will be a good thing.

We may also have to go to MN to get DS2's car if they finish the repair, so that would take the whole afternoon. We were afraid the transmission was going out, but turned out to be just a solenoid that's much cheaper to replace (thank goodness!). We did find out, though, that, with this particular part, if it malfunctions, it can suddenly put the car in reverse or another gear, even if you're driving down the road at 70mph! Fortunately, and I'm sure God was watching over my son, when it did it's malfunction thing, the car shifted itself into neutral and the engine just revved up suddenly. If it had gone to reverse, it would have caused a terrible accident, I'm sure.

My eating has been atrocious since Dad passed. I had been struggling before with not losing any more, but now I've gained 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks! I know part of it's water, as I've been munching on potato chips like a bandit lately, but I really need to get a handle back on this. It's just been almost impossible for me to even think about weighing and measuring my food. I really need a good kick in the backside. I so wanted Dad to see me thin and now I have to know that I have to do this anyway-for myself and my kids.

Well, friends, hope you all have a great weekend! Talk to you later!

TheTigz 04-09-2010 06:31 PM

Well folks, I am needing to vent a little so bear with me. Things that pee me off:

1. Tiger Woods - GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Lock me in a room with him for 5 minutes, I'll put him off sex for life. Pass me the tweezers please.

2. Free Online Bingo - Been playing on and off all day, haven't won a penny

3. Oh yeah, PERIODS!!!!! - Give men periods and there would be a pill to take them away forever within a month.

4. Slugs - Horrible slimy critters that serve no other purpose on this earth other than to feed hedgehogs.

5. Mail Order Deliveries being wrong - I mean really, how many braincells does it take?

6. Politicians - We need to start loading them into the cargo bay of the space shuttle and dropping them off in space.

7. Winter - Enough already!!!!

8. Chocolate - Why can't chocolate be a fruit?

9. Hairs in the bathrub that aren't your own - ewwwwwwww

10. People parking in my spot - ********* its just downright rude!

OK, breathe now. I got it out. Getting a nice patch of weather me thinks. Will need to get some sunshine, it always picks me up.

Ronni - nice to see you back and so sorry to hear about your dad  You said you wanted him to see you thin, he's still watching and I am sure he wouldn't want you to give up, not after coming so far.

Rosebud - OMG not more snow!!!! I hope it doesn't come back here, I just planted some shrubs today. Poor Niko won't get sunbathing. Just waiting on our German Shepherd losing her winter coat - its going to be a nightmare, its sooooo thick. Will have white fur tumbleweeds all over the house in the next few weeks! :yikes:

Take care all, going to catch some ZZZZZ's and see if I wake up a human again.

Muse17 04-09-2010 06:57 PM

Hello The Tigz

What a great post. You cheered me up, I like to know other people are angry and not being perfectly nice all the time.
I would write the top ten things that annoy me but at the moment it's just my diet and getting ill and having to start all over again.
I think I never want to be thin but just a healthy weight . I don't like people who are my age and thin!
So diets and people my age who are superthin annoy me. Not a very positive attitude but my attitude for today.
My physical challenge is to get well from various illnesses and then do Qi Gong or yoga or ( quiet) housework before bed when I can.
Then I will go to bed nicely relaxed and have had some nice toning exercise

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-09-2010 08:27 PM

YA, TIGZ ~ I hear ya .... and I agree wholeheartedly, except that I'm not sure why you don't like Tiger Woods unless it's that you are tired of seeing him win every golf tournie in the whole wide universe ...

I could write a Top 10 Peeves myself, only it may be more like 20 -- here's my list for today ...

1 -- trying to order a vacuum and the sales guy lies and tells you they have it when they don't! And you ask him when it's arriving and he says AUGUST 2010 ... UH, excuse me pal, but that's 5 months away! I'm not leaving my rugs piling up NIKO's hair for 5 whole months. And that really means you don't have any ... and it's on BA or backorder for 5 months???????? :yikes: NOT!!!

2 -- then I asked him to cancel the NOT AVAILABLE stuff and he didn't! Sales people who don't LISTEN ...

3 -- then I had to make 3 mores calls to get the NOT AVAILABLE bags, belts, and filters for the NOT AVAILABLE vacuum cleaner off the order and my credit card ...

4 -- the fact that they wanted to charge me for said items on my credit card for 5 MONTHS when they don't have it and they know it ... How do YOU spell SCAM?

5 -- do you want to guess who that catalogue mail order company was or should I spell it out for you? Starts with an S and ends with an S ... it looks like this ... S---S. More than half the stuff in their catalogues are NOT AVAILABLE! And business is a little slow these days; I wonder why ... :dizzy:

6 -- Desk order clerks who know how to make an order, but don't know how to cancel said NOT AVAILABLE order (2 so far). It then took a consumer expert lady 3-4 days to sort it all out for me; thank you, GOD! Somebody out there knows their job!

7 -- go to the hardware store to buy a vacuum and there is only one vacuum in the whole store; so let's see, which one should I buy? Uhmmm...

8 -- Said store can't order me a new filter, but will try to get one from the manufacturer ... thank you, GOD! Somebody out there knows their job!

9 -- Why do stores put things on sale for 50% or more off -- the very next week after I buy the same item? Becuz you already bought it, that's why? :dizzy:

10 -- why can't all food have NO CALORIES? Then I could eat what I want and not gain any weight like my DH! :D

I'm surprised I didn't run into a bag of chippies after this one; but thank you, GOD! I ran to you ...

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-09-2010 08:54 PM

:welcome: MUSE17 ~ nice of you to stop by our thread for a visit! Glad our TIGZ made you smile ... she does that a lot! She has a good sense of humor and is quite forthright about life! I hope you have success on your journey to a healthy weight; I have the same goal as you can see from my moniker ... :D

HI RONNI ~ don't you apologize at all, honey! You and yours have been through the ringer this past year. I think that is a great idea to have a redo of your bathroom; that WILL give you something else to focus on and it will be so nice when it's done too. Go all out and make it as inviting and soothing as you can afford to. Lots of nice things don't have to cost a lot of money; little touches like pretty towels and curtains, etc.

You will get things under control eventually. I didn't eat perfect this week and it has been a bit stressful too. I am just grateful I didn't turn to junkies, but I did eat a bit more than normal for two days. Did better the last two days, but we did have our Friday Fun dinner of a hamburger and some real fries with gravy.

Well, the :sunny: did finally come out, but not until about 6 pm; a little later than they thought. I hope it comes back for tomorrow as that would help melt some of this ***** for us. This AM, I shovelled off the front porch and DH did the lane a bit at a time as it was heavy, wet stuff. We're just having a lazy evening at home tonight.

Hope you all have a great weekend; and do take good care of you and yours ... Rosebud :flow1:

Muse17 04-11-2010 07:29 PM

Thanks JustWant2Bhealthy

for your "welcome" post. I also just want to be healthy, and I can't really get motivated to try and get the impossible perfect body. I'll leave that to actors and models and those wanting an eating disorder!
I just want to be within my BMI or as close to it as I can get and most of all TO BE HAPPY on my journey and not suffer.
This forum is great.
Thanks!
I haven't done the Qi Gong or yoga yet.oops! I will do 10 minutes now before bed, because I reckon 10 minutes of exercise I enjoy is what I need!

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-11-2010 08:50 PM

HI MUSE17 ~ yes, and you really don't have that far to go either -- about 9 lbs, so that is very doable! I do short spurts of different exercises throughout my day now, even when I am on my PC as I am waiting for things to come up, I may do few ez things: it all adds up.

I found a good book with an EZ plan in my lost box of books called "8 MINUTES IN THE MORNING" by JORGE CRUISE and it has some really good ideas in it. I have been reading it the last 2 days and am almost done. I am already doing exercises upon waking and he recommends this idea too. It is a week by week plan and I will add in Jorge's strength building exercises with mine starting this Monday AM.

I should be able to do many of them or versions of them; but the ones that are just too hard, I will skip for now and replace them with something that I can do that is very similar instead. His eating plan is very EZ: it is based on portions/calories but he does all the work for you with a unique card system that you just photocopy and fill in the boxes as you eat your portions for the day. This is one of the easiest ways to do a calorie/portion plan that I have seen in a long time. Those who don't like a lot of fuss would like it ...

We had lots of :sunny: today, although it was cooler with some strong winds today. Becuz it was so lovely today, we decided to go out for a drive for a couple of hours -- we went looking at houses that are for sale as we enjoy doing that and also to get some ideas for our little cabin/chalet that we are building on our lot.

Hope all you all have a Marvellous Maunday tomorrow; and do take good care too ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-12-2010 01:35 PM

Hit Twosieland today: 80 lbs gone forever!

:cb: Got fabulous news today! :cb: Well, I decided to brave my scale this morning ... I hadn't been weighed since last winter, and was even wondering if I would ever see that scale get under 300 lbs! :)

So over the winter, I have lost some poundage and lots of inches -- I know I was over 310+ lbs and this morning I weighed 298 for the first time in 18+ years! :carrot:

This is a HUGE MILESTONE for me with all the stalls and plateaus I have hit along the way; not to mention the battle with so much pain. THANK the LORD for continued strength throughout all this time, especially this past winter after being discouraged by a nasty nurse last year. I'd love to stick my tongue out at her, so here goes ... :p:p:p

:broc: So, I have lost 80 LBS FOREVER!!!:broc:

Thanks to all my friends on this thread for your continued support!!!

ronni62 04-12-2010 03:20 PM

Rosebud-I am just thrilled for you!!:woohoo::cheer3::cheer3: That's really the best news I've heard in a long time. You have worked so hard and stuck with your plan even when the docs and nurses were discouraging you and trying to talk you into surgeries. You have been such an inspiration to me (and to many others, I'm sure) and I can only tell you to keep up the great work!

TheTigz 04-12-2010 04:53 PM

CONGRATS ROSEBUD!!!

:bravo::cp::hat::cb::dancer::encore::congrat::chee rs::broc::cheer::yay:

Well done on all the hard work! So happy for you. Keep inspiring the rest of us!

Welcome Muse17, nice to meet you. Glad you liked my post and please feel free to make yourself at home here. This forum has been a great help to me. Helps keep me on the right side of sane (no seriously I am - sometimes! LOL). I've also reached the point where I have accepted I will never be completely thin, I can only try and be as healthy as I can and try and keep myself moving. The ladies on here are great at keeping you going when you lack the strength yourself.

Well Scotland has been Scorchio for 3 days. 32 degrees C today in our back garden :woohoo:. This has been me for the last 3 days: :beach: hehehe. SO and I look like we've had 2 weeks in Spain! And OMG the energy its given me. Went for a walk this morning with the kids and the dog (little girl is almost back to 100% and son is back from bio-daddy's), was beautiful and sunny and nice and early so it was quiet too. Dog went paddling in the Loch (blimin freezin) and my kids wrote their names on the beach. But Jeez am I out of shape. I've lost so much muscle in my legs over the past couple of months. The numbness and loss of control over my left leg has subsided now, at least back to where it normally is, so its time to very gently start getting the legs moving properly again. Been doing my physio in the house and in the garden for the last 2 weeks and thought today was the day. Paying for it now ROFL! On the couch with the legs up wrapped in a blankie! I'm such a muppet!

Had a lovely BBQ tonight with meat and veggies YUMMMM. Had tuna pasta (homemade) yesterday, it was so refreshing after it being so hot. Love this weather, it puts me right off chocolate too. All I want is fresh fruit and salads :drool::drool: OK need to stop talking about food, making myself hungry!

Going shopping tomorrow and AGAIN have yet another busy busy week. It just keeps getting worse. My parents are busy this week too so can't even help us out with the kids. They like to take them out whenever they get the chance as they are their only grandkids and they spoil them rotten LOL We've pencilled in Friday as the only day they're free and so are the kids!

Right, going to go. I have to get prepared for tomorrow, get myself organised so its all done for the morning. Then I can let my morning coffee kick in!

Take care all and Rosebud - YOU ARE A STAR!

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-13-2010 09:06 PM

THANKS, ladies ~ I really appreciate all the support and encouragement ...

We had a full day of :sunny: today; it was really nice out so we went shopping today and I got lots of walking in ... too much really and my feet are throbbing so I am gonna go make myself some tea and rest for the remainder of the evening. I picked up a couple of recipe books on a clearance sale: one is for type 2 Diabetics and the other one is full of lower carb dishes including some meatless meals. I'm just looking for some variations, as I like to try new things now and then.

Have a great week ladies ... Rosebud :flow1:

Hello, everyone! Hope you're all having a nice day/week:) I think things are starting to catch up with me, as I'm so tired I can hardly move today and definitely don't want to have to think about anything. Having lots of MS symptoms again too and we have to go to doc today to see if DS3's and my ear infections are recurring (started when we were in IN with Dad), as those symptoms have not gone away. Also, need to get some shopping done, but just not in the mood for it.

The end of the school year is looming and we still need to finish DS3's tests, which were put on hold when Dad got sick, and I'm afraid his scores aren't going to be as good as normal due to all the stress:(. Also, have stuff to get ready for DS2's senior day at church. And, still have a table full of stuff to sort of Dad's and ours from the extended trip to IN-my dining room looks like a tornado went through:eek: because of all the paperwork and bins of things to sort and store. Dad had a lot of tools and misc stuff for carpentry projects that we have inherited, so must find places to keep it for the boys for when they are on their own.

Wish I had something interesting to share, but right now my life is pretty boring and depressing. Based on the last month, though, I absolutely don't want any kind of excitement or crisis stirring things up.

I hope you all have a nice day! to all!

Doh! I wrote a post on here the other day, big long one, of course, clicked to preview to check for typos and then forgot to submit!http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a3...cc4v17m1t1.gif

Well, despite volcanic ash grounding every flight in the UK, we had another nice sunny day today, although I was a little too busy to see much of it LOL Tomorrow is to be even better and the kiddies are away with Grannie and Grampa :woohoo: SO and I have decided to get everything we need to do done in the morning and then the afternoon we'll be

Gave the old legs a break today, no walkies. The dog is in a huff. Also needed to give the old lungs a break too, still choked with this chest infection. It sucks, but I also have no appetite because of it, so there is a silver lining in every cloud ROFL Or there's phlem in every cough HAHA Snot in every sneeze...

SO is well into restoring our old Jag, he's like a man possessed! Oh well, keeps him out of trouble! LOL Kids are doing great, been really happy with their behaviour this week. I think they are starting to appreciate living in a house where there's hardly ever any shouting! DS impressed the **** outta me today. Got him a workbook from the local pound store to help him practise his writing and pencil control and he has done it all brilliantly, with hardly any help. This is a little boy that this time last year could just about draw a circle and that was it. I'm so proud of him. So proud of DS too as she is writing sentences down for him to copy to practise as well. I just hope they are always this close to each other.

Ronni - Sorry to hear you are having a bad patch with the MS. Hope it passes soon

Take care all, seeya all after I've been on the sunlounger and sipping a few cocktails! ROFL

 HI LADIES ~ We've been busy last two days; went up town and picked up some more gardening stuff that we needed (composted soil and a few more seeds), so I can grow more veggies as they are sooooooo very expensive up here.

Yesterday, I made some low-sugar blueberry refrigerator jam with some blueberries we picked last summer; and it turned out really nice. I created the recipe myself and it was very easy and quick to make.

Did my daily housechores in the AM: today was floors -- sweeping, moppping, and vacuuming with my new cleaner; boy, that sure burns up energy but I'll sleep very good tonight too! We had leftover roasted chicken and veggies for dinner tonight.

Hope you all have a FABULOUS FRIDAY tomorrow; do take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-15-2010 10:22 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention that I also found some new STRETCHIE BANDS here in town; I didn't even know they were here and I got the last package. I also found a pedometer which can track my steps, km's, and calories burned if I wish. I forgot to put it on today; that will take some practice.

I am just adding in some more strength training exercises by Jorge Cruise so I don't want to overload myself all at once. He also encourages POWER WALKING for extra exercise too. With my toning exercises and walking and chaire aerobics, and ST and all the housechores which I spread out from Monday to Friday, I have increased my activity quite a bit, but I have to be careful not to overdo it and takes lots of rest in between.

This afternoon, I just put my legs up, wrote letters, did some reading; reheated leftover dinner; and tonight came in here. Just had some tea, so it's time to put my legs up again. I pulled a muscle on my right side just turning too quickly while making my breakfast this morning ... geepers, can you believe that?

See you later ... and be good!

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-17-2010 01:55 AM

 JUST a quick pop in, as it's pretty late ~ I am on my way to bed. I spent the evening listening to music and reading more of Jorge Cruises' book and doing the workbook part of it. He asks questions and gets you to journal a bit each day as well, so I got caught up on that.

So far so good -- I did have to modify some of the exercises a bit as some of them stress my knees too much at this point, so I am doing some of them a bit differently (like while sitting on a chair, which he does show a few times).

My back is a lot better, but still needs a bit more rest; think I'll take it easy for the weekend and it should be OK by the beginning of next week. These kinds of strains get better with rest; boy, sure gotta watch it as we age. ;)

Take good care and hope you all have a wonderful weekend ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-17-2010 10:24 PM

 HI THERE ~ laundry/bedding day; took all morning, then did a bit of mending while resting that sore back of mine (that I pulled making my brekky yesterday:dizzy:). Not much action going on around here this weekend. We awoke to *****, but it all melted by lunch; and they are predicting :sunny: for all day tomorrow -- hope so! Have a Super Sunday tomorrow ladies ... Rosebud :flow1:

ronni62 04-20-2010 09:08 AM

Hi, everyone! We've had such nice weather the last few days! Even had to mow the lawn on Saturday:D. Need to get out and clean out the flower beds, but just haven't had time to get on that project yet. Trying to get DS3's testing done, along with getting DS2's college scheduling done and prepare pics for his Senior Appreciation Day at church on May 1st. Still have so much of Dad's stuff sitting on the table that I need to get things organized. Finally, just had to put most of his things downstairs to go through again later-just too emotional yet to accomplish much without spending most of the day crying, so I'm just putting it off until later.

Not much else going on here. I'm definitely not doing well with my eating and now I'm paying for it with the recurring digestive problem. Must get more focused on that and quit drowning my grief in ice cream.

Well, hope you all have a good day and enjoy some nice weather. Hoping that the ashy clouds clear up for Tigz and Purple! Take care:hug:

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-21-2010 11:01 PM

Oh dear, I didn't realize that I haven't posted in here for such a long time; I thought I had. Have been a bit busy lately; we went out for a drive on the weekend; and on Sunday spent all afternoon at our lot. I did stuff in the our camping trailer while DH made our steps a bit more sturdy: that took him until 6 pm. We got home and ended having a late dinner.

Then we went shopping and errands on Monday; did stuff around here yesterday and today like housechores and such. Had a more restful day today and my back is all healed ... yeah! I am gonna take it easy and be more careful.

My eating is pretty good; not perfect every day, but not too bad either. Still doing my morning toning exercises and added some of Jorge Cruises' weight exercises too, but I have had to modify some of them. I had to be creative and make them easier for someone with physical challenges.

Hope you all have a good day tomorrow; they are predicting better weather for us and I sure hope they got it right as they didn't today. Take good care ladies ... Rosebud :flow1:

ronni62 04-22-2010 09:22 AM

Just stopping by to say "HI" to everyone! Looks like another nice sunny day here, but they say rain is on the way for the weekend-oh, boy....

Gonna try to get DS3's tests done today, so we can mail them off for scoring, then, we'll be just finishing out the normal school year. I'm ready for summer break already, but must keep on with their studies or we'll have to work half the summer:p

Rosebud-sounds like fun working out at your 'camp'! Glad you're doing so well sticking with your eating plan. I've finally gotten back on track this week and am down 3 pounds, which I'm sure is mostly water, but, pay no attention to my ticker, as I'm unfortunately, I'm still a couple pounds above that weight, but neglected to change it-shame on me:o

Well, better get moving here. Have a great day, everyone!

TheTigz 04-22-2010 10:48 AM

Hello all! Thought I'll post early today as I know I'm gonna be wrecked later LOL

Well, we've had a week of crisis with the Icelandic Volcano belching crap into our airspace and thank goodness its over, my parents are going on holiday in a couple of weeks. Dad was starting to panic! Doesn't mind if he gets stuck there, just as long as he's there.:beach: Hasn't affected us, not even had dust falling here. Had a couple of nice days there, cold but sunny, now we are back to rain, rain and more rain on the side, just for a change and oh yes, some rain! LOL

Been relatively good the last week food wise. Steering clear of all the nice things and eating the healthy ones instead. Also trying to train myself, that when I start feeling "not hungry" its time to give what's left of my dinner to the dogs. Legs have been pretty rotten the last few days though and still coughing like a miner in a pit-shaft. Starting to really tick me off now that this chest infection won't get gone.

Talking of things that tick me off:

Take Tiger Woods off my Top Ten list and put this muppet there instead. GRRRRRRRRRRR Jon Gosselin is just a complete waste of space. He just wants custody of his kids so he doesn't need to get off his ugly a$$ and get a job. Reminds me of my ex-husband! What exactly does he do for work anyway? Answers on a postcard please. LOL. Seriously, I have a job for him, he can be the face on packets of contraception! If that doesn't promote safe sex, what will? And there's poor Kate, trying to juggle kids and earning enough cash to give those kids a good life. If every divorced dad took their ex-wives to court because, God forbid, she gets a job, then it would be a women's workplace. Men would be the minority! He has no shame. I was going to call him a man there, but he needs to grow a pair first.

OK rant over. LOL Going to make some more jewellery this weekend. Got some more supplies through and quite looking forward to it. Its so theraputic.

Well I am off. Daughter needs her cough medicine and SO is having a nap. Hmmmmmm nap...... there's an idea!

Take care all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-24-2010 12:04 AM

TIGZ ~ sending up some prayers for you and your daughter that you recover from that bad cough (and the flu that likely caused it) real soon ... don't need that going on and on and on ... ;) Hope you get some better weather over there soon too!

We've been blessed with lovely :sunny: for the last two days. We bought a nice lunch and went to a favorite lake and had a lovely little picnic today -- it was so nice with the sun reflecting off the water (now that the ice has finally melted). Supposed to have sunshine all weekend so will find some nice outdoorsy stuff to do ... fun, fun, fun!

HI RONNI ~ glad you are starting to lose again, but don't worry about that ticker; fix it up whenever ... ;) I think that the gardening will help you feel better over the next while; I find gardening very therapeutic. I just love looking at all the flowers each day; and am going to do a few veggies again this year. Now if those little ***** flakes would stop falling, I will be able to plant some seed soon as we have the beds all ready. We will wait a bit and then give them another fluff just before we seed. Usually we don't seed until late May here, but if the weather gets warmer, I may start the hardies a bit sooner this year ... we'll see ...

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend ... Rosebud :flow1:

TheTigz 04-24-2010 05:52 PM

This one won't be funny, so if you are needing a laugh - skip over.

SO asked to have a serious talk with me last night, about my weight and his worries about my health in relation to how heavy I am. He wasn't nasty or anything, was very calm and most of what he said is the truth. Just hard to hear. Hard to face up to. Feel like I've had my spirit knocked right out of me.

Need to try harder. Stop using food as a crutch. Didn't start crying until he mentioned the kids. My greatest fear is dying early because of the weight. The problems it would cause for them and everyone else if I was taken out of the picture are just horrendous. They would go to their dad and my parents and SO would quite probably never see them again. Losing me means they would lose us all. And that doesn't even go into the heartache I feel about not being with them. LOL crying again.

Desperate. Looking into getting a recumbent exercise bike, see if its something I can do.

Well, I've eaten well today. Hopefully I can do this for the rest of my life. Going to go now, listen to some Johnny Cash. I know I will manage to pull myself out of the gutter, God knows it won't be the first time. Just sucks when you're here.

Take care all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-25-2010 10:13 PM

Well, I decided to do the skip over becuz we had enuff stress of our own today. Although we had lovely :sunny: weather today, and nice temps, life likes to through you curves now and then -- DH has been stressed becuz he has a severe memory problem and it isn't getting any better. This causes frustration and of course, some people take that out on those around them: mainly ME ... not funny!!!

Anywho, we got through all that (and he did apologize, as he always does) and managed to get some things accomplished on our lot today. It was tiring but productive day ... so now I am going to relax for the rest of it.

Hope you all have a great week coming up; take good care and enjoy every moment as much as you can ... Rosebud

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-27-2010 10:46 PM

 Well this week has been good for us; the :sunny: has returned but the temps are bit cool yet. It is supposed to warm up by Friday. We want to get some more stuff done at our lot this week as we want to get started on that floor in May. DH is very excited needless to say; and he had an important trip to the city on Monday. So glad that it all went well for him too.

Gee, sometimes it feels like I have my own blog going on here ... Time to have a wee snack (a healthy one though). Hope you all are having a great week; take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

TheTigz 04-29-2010 04:52 PM

Been dragging myself out of the depression gutter this week. Feel like I've been rocked to my core.

Eating wise, I've been brilliant. Sticking to my diet rigorously. I'm having 1250 calories a day. Could have more, but I feel this is enough. Unfortunately, as I am a couple of days in, I am now at the stage where I find it easy to slip. I got a new pair of trainers (sneakers) the other day. Its absolutely shocking the difference a GOOD pair of trainers can make to my mobility. These are comfy, very light and have a little bit of bounce in them. Been walking the last few days and finding it so much easier on my hips. Told SO, next month I want the same pair in a different colour! The fact I am not as sore with them, actually makes me want to exercise more. Weird!

My parents, God love em, have bought me a recumbent exercise machine to try and help me. And my dad wants to try it with his gammy knee. He's been told, the only way he will not be going onto insulin injections is to get his weight down, quickly and dramatically. So if he can use it, he'll be getting one too.

Weather wise, well its been raining. Again. Another good reason for getting an exercise machine, can't go walking sometimes for days on end and the legs start to stiffen up and the muscles deteriorate quite quickly. Loads of flowers and plants coming to life in our garden though, can't wait until the summer and I can sit out there with a book.

Been making more jewellery, although I need to wait on more fixings arriving. My biggest worry about it is coming true, everything I make, my mother wants to have! LOL Going to need to find a local craft sale soon.

Rosebud - Keep posting, you keep us all together!

Well I'm off. Quite tired after the last few days, busy as always.

Take care all and get posting!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Justwant2Bhealthy 04-29-2010 08:56 PM

:hug:DEAREST TIGZ ~ sorry you had a visit from DR. PHIL (I'm not a fan -- can you tell?); but I am sending some :hug::hug: your way today.

Everyone wants to be healthy and well; focus on you first and the rest will follow! Guilt would never motivate me to anything but depression as it did you; so that's not helpful really, even if someone means well. We know you love your kids; and you can and will do your best to love yourself better one day at a time.

I used to own a recumbent (sp) bike but couldn't pedal it; wasn't right for me but everyone is different, so try it. I love my rowing machine, dancing, and walking, plus my toning exercises, handweights, and stretchie bands the most. I purposely walk back and forth from one end of our place to the other; and spread my housechores over the week in the AM's with outdoor walking 3-4 times a week, if I can do that.

THINK HEALTHY! Make it your personal motto and say it each day; post it around your home and it may help you a bit.
