You oo oo, I wanna be like you oo oo, I wanna walk like you OO, talk like you, shoo oo oo

Guess who's bouncing back? LOL Getting there. Been keeping myself busy, all the usual mum stuff and the jewellery and building a website to support the kids school. Diet is going well. Had no nice things (LOL) for over a week now. Not slipped once, not yet anyways although I have been tempted. Willpower has not deserted me yet! Can't wait until Tuesday, get my recumbent exercise machine. Looking forward to trying it out. We're also due to have some nice weather over the next week so I'll be getting my butt out and about.

Kids are off school tomorrow for the Mayday holiday, but they also have a birthday party to go to. I'm going to need my jaw wired shut to get through it! LOL Very proud of son last week, his jeans were just not quite as tight as the week before. However, they were at bio-daddy's house this weekend and got fed loads of crap. So much for him watching what they eat. Then again he is a compulsive liar and I found out this weekend, that they have got that many mixed-up teenagers living in the house, that our kids have nowhere to sleep and are sharing a bed with each other and a room with a teenage girl. We've had a problem with this before. Taking in so many people that the kids end up sleeping in blow-up beds in daddy's room. This is a 3 bedroom house by the way and he can't get somewhere for his own kids to sleep. GRRRRRRRRRR. What's pee'd me off the most though is that he told DD (aged 7) not to tell mummy. A$$hole. Anyway, rant over.

Got the kids an inflatable children's punchbag and they have been knocking lumps out of it. Going to get them out on the bikes next week in the sunshine. Do some walking myself, see how far I can get....and see if I can get back LOL!

Still waiting on my seeds sprouting. Planted them weeks ago and nothing, not even a single seedling. Maybe this week...otherwise I'll be going to the garden centre!

Well must be off, nearly bedtime. Take care all xxxxxxxxxxxxx

 Had a nice restful weekend with a mix of :sunny: and :rain: ... our trees sure needed that. We went for drive this aft and visited some family just before coming home to a roast pork and veggie dinner.

TIGZ ~ glad for you that you are having such great success eating well. We had good healthy foods all week; am also trying to clean out our freezer by using up all the older stuff before buying more this month. Let us know how you like that recumbent bike; and the punching bag sounds like a lot of fun for the kiddies.

Hope you all have a good week coming up with nice weather too; and take good care of yourselves ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-04-2010 08:31 PM

 HI LADIES ~ we had a busy day today. The day started out with :sunny: and we ended up coming home in a :rain: storm but about five minutes after we got home, the sun was out shining full force again ...

Anyways, we went out to our lot and did more landscaping work (well, DH did that); DH put some more rocks along the entranceway and some gravel as well. He says that it will be done pretty soon. I spent an hour cleaning down the outside of our camper with a special brush that has a very long handle. I did 3/4 of it and DH helped me with the last end as it was the worst, so it looks pretty good now. We may consider re-painting it some time in the future but it's OK for now.

We also transplanted 2 pine trees and 2 fir trees as we lost some that were too close to the ditch. Don't know what's in there or the center of our front lawn, but anything that we planted in those two places, didn't make it. So we planted these in the long green strips instead (where others are doing well). They look so lovely there, so I hope they last this time. All the ones on the north side of the lot are doing very well also.

We definitely have to get some more sand and top soil in the front yard or we won't be able to put anything there. All that we did today took a while to get done, but I like to pace ourselves and spread things out. When we got home, we had a nice leftover BBQ chicken dinner. DH is very tired and had to go for a nap. ;)

Hope you all have a lovely week and do take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-05-2010 10:09 PM

 HI THERE ~ We had a mixed bag of weather today; some :sunny: and some :rain: on and off. WE went up town to get some supplies for our camper that we needed. It took two trips up there to get the right things, but I got lots of walking in today. Can't believe that and a few things around here and the day seemed to whiz by ...

Our greenery really needed the rain and it's starting to turn green out there; and more of my flowers are blooming. I see a lot of daffodils and tulips out there in people's front yards. A couple of tulips are trying to bloom in my stone garden at the lot; I imagine they will be in full bloom when I get out there again, esp with all this rain lately.

Hope you all have nice weather and a great week; take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-07-2010 11:59 PM

 HI FRIENDS ~ we had lovely :sunny: all day today; and our big rug was able to dry (we had hung it outdoors to clean it and freshen it up a bit and it worked too). We had a quiet day and went for a drive out to a favorite lake this afternoon and saw some lovely loon couples there.

Made pizza at home for supper; and did some crocheting this evening; and yakking with friends. Have a wonderful weekend ... Rosebud :flow1:

helloo!!!

Hiya! I found your thread! Thank you for telling me about it! I am about to go to the gym but I will tell a short version of my story for everyone when I get back...gotta go before it closes! Hope everyone is having a Happy Mother's Day! :cheer2:

TheTigz 05-09-2010 05:33 PM

Welcome to the thread disney. Thanks Rosebud for keeping us going!

Happy Mothers Day! to those celebrating today. We had ours in March in the UK, dunno why we're all different? Another one of life's great mysteries. LOL

Well, I got the recumbent exercise machine last week and its great. I'll be able to use it most days without too much of a problem - LOL - WHEN I GET THE TIME ROFL!!! Been so busy this past week. Kids have so much on and SO has been welding the Jag back together (looks incredible) and when he does this I have to take up all the chores around the house that he "forgets" LOL. I'm a shed-widow. So I haven't had much time to post on here or do anything interesting.

I've been extremely good on the diet this week. Had my treat of the week yesterday when out with the kids - rum and raisin icecream YAYYYY! And as I sit here surrounded by cookies and crisps, having a low-cal hot chocolate drink to try and keep me sane, I have made the monumentous decision to weigh myself tomorrow. Don't do it very often, can't bear the heartache, but the trousers and jeans are all feeling a little looser, so I am gonna go for it.

Weather has been great this weekend, very sunny yesterday and the kids were out playing football and running about all afternoon, they were knackered. Actually got a lie-in this morning! Got myself a black pair of the same trainers I got last week and was breaking them in. Legs are feeling it tonight, so maybe take it easy tomorrow ie just do ALL the housework, get the kids to school, go to school meeting, have a big fight with ex-husband about his kids right to have a bed to sleep in, sort out my sock drawer, do the washings and the drying and the ironing and the putting away AND cook a big ham joint! Ah the joys...

Well I need to go start a To Do list and a shopping list, so take care all and have a good week!

Glad to see things are going about as usual for everyone-lol! And, welcome to Disney! We love new faces:)

It's been a busy few days (or more, I guess). Our church had a nice Senior Recognition thing for the graduating kids - 10 this year in our church! And, 4 are 2 pairs of twins, but all are very nice kids. DS2 received quite a bit of money to help with school expenses and all the kids got several towels and blankets, which, I guess, is an old town joke-something about hoping the boys will actually take showers after they're away from the moms to remind them;) All I know for sure is that I'm not really ready for him to leave home:cry: Hopefully, the summer will give me more time to get used to the idea. It was kind of sad too, knowing that my dad didn't get to see any of his grandsons graduate. He had been a school teacher/superintendent/college prof. and always encouraged their education.

We've been hoping to get started on the garden, but every time we even think about tilling, it either rains or freezes! Had to cover the strawberries the last 2 nights to try to protect from the freeze. Maybe later this week, we'll be able to get out there with the tiller and seeds.

Went to MN to take DH's mom out for Mother's Day yesterday-Chinese restaurant owned by some really wonderful friends of ours. Really, really good food! But, don't even ask me how my eating plan's been going:p I will get back on plan, I will get back on plan, I will get back on plan.......

I can't believe how sadness has affected my eating-all I want is carbs, carbs, carbs. And, it's hard to believe how sad I still feel. I know this will get better, but right now, it's like looking into a deep, dark pit and never seeing the bottom.

Well, just have to keep busy. And, we must get Mom's lawn mowed before the rain starts again today, so I'd better be off. You all take care! Have a wonderful day!

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-10-2010 08:09 PM

:welcome: to our thread, DISNEYCHICK ~ glad you found us over here. What kind of things do you like to do at your gym? Oh, I think I remember that you mentioned weights to me in introductions ... the old memory, ya know; fades a bit now & then ... Do come back and tell us your story!

TIGZ ~ with all that busyness and activity, you are surely getting lots of exercise in anyways. Think of all the calories of energy that you are burning off -- that's what I do. I don't even think of it as work anymore. I spread things out over my mornings so that I can burn some energy each morning. I take Sunday off for a complete rest and sometimes Saturdays too, if I have everything done during the week (which is my aim). Glad that you enjoy your recumbent bike; I have a bum knew so I had too much trouble trying to peddle it, so I had to look for something else -- I ended up using a rowing machine instead plus hand-weights, stretchie bands, chair aerobics, dancing, and walking, of course ...

RONNI ~ we have been busier lately too; we always have more to do in the spring and summer. I was going to plant my garden early but changed my mind as well, becuz we keep getting frigid temps @ 0 C or 32 F or lower and we had some ***** again this weekend. It was a finer pellet type of snow but the winds were ferocious making it feel more like 10 below or sorry, 22 F or less. I have been eating pretty good, but today I seemed extra hungry and may have eaten a bit more than needed, so will have to reign that in tomorrow. YOu know though, sometimes, when I eat a bit more, I lose a few lbs anyways, so you never know.

I'm glad things worked out so well for your DS2; lots of encouragement there, but you know he can still call you and come home for the holidays. It has been a pretty stressful year for you and your family; BUT your DAD will definitely know that you sons are graduating. I believe we know even more up there than we do here; and that is some positive news that I'm sure he will be glad to inquire about ... ^PRAYERS^ continue for you and yours ...

WE had a quiet weekend at home but since we were so busy last week doing other things, we had a few things to do around here to keep us busy, but we decided to really have a respite this past weekend just for the heck of it. We went to look at a car early on Saturday morning, but the guy was so controlling that he wouldn't even let DH drive it; and DH was not impressed and said I am not buying a vehicle that I can't even try out ... oh dear!

Anyhow, we let that man keep his control and his car! There were several other reasons we passed on it besides that too; but we will keep an eye out for a good deal for the future as we don't expect this car to last very long (we've been having some issues with it again). I am literally praying that GOD will give us wisdom this time, as we would like to buy a vehicle that will last us longer (like 7+ years or more) even if we have to pay a bit more for it. :^:

Hope you all have a wonderful week coming up; and do take good care of yourselves too ... Rosebud :flow1:

Yeeeeehaaaaaaa! Sitting here celebrating with low-cal hot choc and snack-a-jacks! Savouring the flavour. LOL

Legs and back have been quite bad the last couple of days, not sure whats set them off. So been resting today, did a little jewellery. Had a headache start during the night at some point, was actually aware of it when I was sleeping. Does anyone else get that? So getting the kids up and off to school this morning was a bit of a test, but they were at their gardening club after-school class so I got an extra hours rest in the end. Just hope tomorrow is a bit better.

Been nice here the last few days, but bitterly cold. The mountain at the front of our house had a new dusting of snow on it this morning - Enough already - its May!:shocksn:

Well, I'm off for the night. Going to bed early with my book, try to chill.

Take care all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-12-2010 11:08 PM

:congrat: TO YOU, TIGZ ~ that's terrific news -- 5 more lbs gone forever!!! It's nice to lose a big amount like that too. Glad things are going better for you this week. Yes, it seems that old man winter doesn't want to leave us this year, but at least it isn't lasting very long.

We were blessed with :sunny: three days in a row; the temps were in the high 50's F today. That is nice when the wind isn't blowing; and it felt warmer than that.

I just stayed home and did some light housechores; made scooby-doo pasta with HM chili tomato sauce (just canned tomato soup + chunky medium salsa and a few herbs etc). It turned out really nice and have a bit left for lunch tomorrow too. EDIT TO ADD: I also put lean hamburger and chopped onions in this dish; fry them up then add the salsa and tomato soup with some herbs & spices to taste.

Our car is in the garage for an inspection/tune-up tonight. One of DH's friends has come out of retirement (he was too bored) and opened up a garage. He is a licenced, experienced mechanic and already saw that some hoses had been removed from our car; why, no-one knows? Hope he can fix that gas leaking problem for us once and for all ... :^:

Some more flowers are blooming now; one big yellow daffodil and some pink tulips too. TIme for a tea break -- hope you all have a lovely Thursday tomorrow and do take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-13-2010 08:35 PM

 HI ~ we had lovely :sunny: for most of the day then some clouds rolled in later on; maybe some :rain: comin' ??? Today was floor day for me: mopping and vacuuming; that gives you some exercise and passes the morning very quickly.

Went outdoors and soaked in some :sunny: for awhile; put my legs up too and did some reading this afternoon. DH's sister popped by for a short visit; then made dinner of fish, coleslaw, sliced tomatoes, and baked sweet potato fries (I really like these and they are chocked full of Vitamin A too). I made some homemade Turkey, Veggie & Rice Soup for lunch today as well.

Had a good OP week, esp from Tuesday on. Hope you all have a FANTABULOUS FRIDAY tomorrow; and do take good care ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-15-2010 12:27 AM

 HI LADIES ~ We had :rain: on and off all day long today; but the grass and the flowers and the trees need that, dont' they? It is supposed to be nice and :sunny: for the whole weekend but we are stuck at home as our car is in the garage, but we had good news about that. It took this qualified mechanic only 15 minutes to correct some mistakes made by some young apprentices last fall.

They had taken things apart and didn't put them back on correctly, hence why we had gas fumes backing up into our car ... oh dear, not very safe really! BTW -- that garage was recently sold and new licenced mechanics were hired, but we won't be going back there ... uhuh ...:nono:

We will be getting a few more things done on the car at the same time, so we may have old Betsy back by Monday or sooner; we'll see, but she will be in much better shape ... thank GOD for answered prayers! Will be sticking around home and enjoying the nice weather.

Hope you all have a good weekend; take care ... Rosebud :flow1:

ronni62 05-18-2010 09:14 AM

Hi, everyone! Gosh, it seems like we've been busy-running around and trying to finish up the school year. DS2 wants to keep working on a couple subjects this summer-he's a little worried about college. He's having a terrible time finding a job, too. Seems all the available (and what used to be for teenagers) jobs are being given to older people who are laid off.

We have finally gotten a good start on getting in our garden-beans, carrots, onions, lettuce, radishes, potatoes and sweet potatoes, so far. Also, planted some annual flowers in flower beds and pots, but need to get more and also some tomatoes, melons, cabbages, and maybe sweet peppers for the vegetable garden. Our strawberries have a profusion of blooms and even some little tiny green berries already!

Not much else going on here. Lots to do. Bathroom still is not done-maybe I forgot to tell you all, but the people we had do the first part of the job could not do the ceiling, so we're back to figuring out how to do it ourselves and hoping we can find someone to do the texture on it when we get the drywall up. DH has to do some wiring first, because we're adding a vent fan.

Rosebud-glad your car repair was figured out. DH hates it when garages have mechanics who don't know what they're doing. He works on cars a lot and always has, so if he has to rely on a garage, it's only because he doesn't have time to do what needs done. But, he really hates having to trust someone else to fix the problem, because many times, we have to have it re-done later:mad: Dealing with an alignment/brake issue with DS2's car right now which has been going on since we bought it and no one can seem to figure out the problem. I'm thinking it's time to invoke the 'lemon law' and get a different car. We'll see.

Well, you all have a great day! Must get busy here, because we need to mow Mom's lawn and go to the greenhouse:D Talk to you later!

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-18-2010 10:49 PM

THANKS, RONNI ~ well, what our mechanic thought was just hoses, turns out to be something much bigger, I'm afraid. I don't know what happen -- maybe a communications problem or what, I don't know ... but a hose problem changed to hoses & gas lines; then to hoses, gas lines, and a new gas tank. Well, I thought Ok -- I know approximately how much that will cost; we can handle that, BUT when DH came home the estimate also had a $300.00 + taxes gas pump on top of all that, and that was not including the labor or miscellaneous parts either (like clamps and connectors and so forth).

:eeks: Needless to say, I was very upset -- for here we go again; us having to fix one thing after another that the others didn't want to. It seems a long list of gas lines, brakes lines, brake pads, brake rotors, gas tank, gas (fuel) pumps, fuses, radiators, tires, and on and on and on ...

Now I can see why so many people here lease or only buy new and trade them in when the 5 year warranties wear off. I keep telling myself that it is better than a monthly payment, but we really are paying one anyways with so many repair costs. I told DH at this rate, we will have paid out enuff for a brand new car BUT still have an old clunker.

Sometimes, it is hard to know what to do. The mechanic says that the motor is still good on this car, but in the next breath was trying to talk my DH into buying a big diesel 4x4 truck the price of a house. If we had that kind of money, we wouldn't be there; we would just go buy a new one ... :dizzy:

We are just trying to keep this one going long enuff to save up to buy a better one, but it is taking so much of our money that it is hard to save for anything. This car has eaten up all our cottage money already; so it will be starting all over again to save for that too. We also were told that our car insurance is going up another 30% starting in June, which is an $170.00 increase (last year was 20% or $90.00 increase); and our heating company says that it is raising our rate so we will pay a miniumum of $10.00 more a month.

It wasn't nice to get so much bad $$$ news all at once. Anywho, I told DH that if he wants to do all those repairs, that he can pay for them himself with HIS savings for once (then he wanted to cancel the repairs, so we'll see). I am going to hold him to that too. The plan is to buy all the parts, then either DH can do the work himself or pay the mechanic to do it -- it's his choice!

ANYHOW, back to better things, I got some more gladiolas planted today; they are a pretty mix of colors too. We picked up some stones to put in the bottom of our drum and will get it prepared tomorrow AM so that I can plant it as well. I went to the store today and they wanted $1.79 for only 4 radishes ... :yikes: Time to get the salad garden planted ... sheesh!

WE have lots of lovely flowers blooming in our side garden; will try to get some pics too. Hope you all have a great week ... Rosebud :flow1:

TheTigz 05-19-2010 05:02 PM

Hiya. Hope everyone is well. Been busy as usual, it just never ends. Kinda fallen off the wagon a little, not too much, but I had a big bowl of icecream today. Got my monthlies, SO stressed me out telling me he wants another car and found out a childhood friend committed suicide last week, so I think the icecream can class as medicinal.

Was in the kids school yesterday afternoon, teaching them all to make jewellery. Was good fun, but I know I would not want to be a teacher! And these kids were great! Was exhausted last night with that and everything else.

Been making some more jewellery myself as well. Any spare time I have. Keeps my mind off things and keeps me away from the fridge! Going to have a stall at the school Summer Fete and see what I can sell.

SO has nearly finished restoring the Jag and she looks amazing. If its sunny tomorrow, I'll take some pics and post them. I feel for you Rosebud, cars are flippin expensive things. And now he wants a third one??? wtf? Don't think my nerves can take another one.

Well, I'm off. My parents are due back from Spain and the phone will be ringing any moment...

Take care all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Disneychick29 05-21-2010 12:14 AM

Hello everyone! Thank you for the warm welcome...sorry I haven't gotten a chance to tell you guys a little bit about myself sooner. I saw
Rosebud reply to me on another thread and she told me about this one!

Soooo for starters....I am so happy I found this website it really helps to know that there are others out there like me. I have been struggling with weight for quite awhile now. Not only due to a medical condition that I had but just from not eating the right things. I was diagnosed with a heart problem about 4 years ago. I was put on a ton of medicines and couldn't do any exercising...or driving for that matter. I would pass out alot due to my heart rate going too fast (260 beats per minute range) as the weight kept gaining and my heart kept getting worse I found out I needed to have a surgery (cardiac ablation) to burn out an extra electrical pathway in my heart that was causing my heart to go so fast...my medicine was no longer working and it was either that or a heart attack or stroke! Needless to say I had the surgery done and I had to be awake through the entire procedure so they could speed up my heart and find the extra pathway. It was one of the WORST experiences of my life (they went in through my legs not my chest thank goodness) LOL....so 4 years later and I am still on one medication. The Dr. said it was one of the longest pathways he has ever seen in his life they couldn't get it all because he was in fear that if he went too far I'd need a pacemaker. I also have a case of tachycardia that has nothing to do with my extra heart pathway! So to sum this all up my exercise is very limited. I am doing nothing but walking and a few weights. I think I have a complex because everytime my heart races when I walk I am scared I am going to have an attack where my heart goes crazy and I am going to pass out my normal sitting heart rate now is between 100 and 120. I moniter it very well so that it does not get too high. I see other people at the gym working out like crazy and jogging and going on the elyptical and I just can't do it. None of my friends really understand when they want me to go to the gym with them I feel like they think I am being lazy or something even though they know the situation. So that is why I am here!!! :) I would like to hear anyone else's stories on their journey of weightloss and I am praying that the dieting and walking and hopefully some good advice on how to tone up will help! I am taking it one step at a time. I would eventually like to cut my medicine down from losing weight. I hope I didn't bore you all with my long story...geez I wrote a novel! HAHAHA it did help to get some of this off of my chest! No pun intended hehehehee. I look forward to getting to know all of you!

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-22-2010 12:48 AM

DISNEYCHICK ~ nice to see you back here; glad that your health is improving a little. I have a few suggestions for you like STRETCHIE BANDS, HAND WEIGHTS, LIGHT YOGA OR TAI CHI (very easy), TONING EXERCISES, and CHAIR AEROBICS ...

You can find TAI CHI on the net including pics of simple movements; they are done to very slow music, and you move very slowly too. I love the stretchie bands cuz they strengthen and tone without too much excursion; same for hand-weights that also help strengthen and build your muscles. You can find chair aerobics dvds; and some sites that share for free too.

I have shared some of my toning exercises on this or other previous threads; maybe could do a search for them. I do some on my bed upon waking as I cannot get down on the floor with my bad knees and legs (the sofa works too). I do tummy tucks & crunches; arm exercises on my chair that looks a lot like someone working at the airport (and my DH always laughs at those); plus butt and tummy squeezes also help tone as well.

I have JORGE CRUISE's book called "8 MINUTES IN THE MORNING" and I can do several of his exercises; some I have to modify for me or I do some of my own instead, but the weight ones are terrific. And just like he says, they take only about 8 minutes. I like to do some of my exercises in the early morning as I feel better then and I am less likely to put them off becuz I'm busy or tired later in the day.

I take advantage of light housechores each morning and walking around our large stores here (keeping it to 1 or 2 at a time or I end up with sore feet and legs) and that really helps a lot. I do some here in our home as it is long and narrow and I can walk back and forth several times a day at my leisure all year round. Sometimes DH and I go for walks in the evening at a local track we found; it's all flat which is good for me.

HI TIGZ ~ that one bowl of ice cream shouldn't cause too much damage; last time I had an ice cream cone, I ended up with a very bad case of LACTOSE INTOLERANCE!!! I won't be doing that again; will be sticking to my yogurt ice cream from now on. That's OK -- a Canadian company here called CHAPMANS makes really good yogurt ice cream and in many flavors.

That's a great idea teaching the kiddies to do the jewelry now when they are young; could make a great hobby for them and a way to make some money for things they might need in the future, esp when they get into their teens.

This is a long weekend for us -- May 24th holiday, which is also my DH's birthday too. So far, we are having great weather. DH got the air conditioner up in our bedroom. I spent the morning totally rearranging our spare room (really our storage room now) and it really looks a lot better in there now; and I got one load of towels washed and dried outdoors on my new nifty rack (it takes a whole load of clothes at a time).

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend too ... Rosebud :flow1:

TheTigz 05-23-2010 03:49 PM

Well, today I had a double cheeseburger from McDonalds - and I feel no shame! LMAO

But there is a story... I almost ended up in hospital on Thursday morning with severe abdominal pain. Left side, so not appendix, turned out to be Bowel Colic. Now for those not familiar with this condition (like i was) its basically when your bowel gets tangled or blocked. Had to call the doc out to me as I was literally screaming in pain and for those that know me, that means it was helluva sore, far worse than 2 cesaereans put together. Next door's dog kept barking at me screaming! LOL Poor wee soul, he was maybe worried. Anyways, SO was working outside on the car, so I literally crawled/rolled to the front door and sent the dog out to get him. Not long after this the throwing up started, as if things weren't bad enough.

Doc gave me a magic potion to drink to ummmm help things get moving. Thats what I get for eating bananas! Combined with my meds they could plug up the Titanic. Still recovering just now, been ordered to rest, still having dizzy turns, getting badly dehydrated, gone into shock a few times... only managed to start eating at all yesterday and that was only a couple of little bits of fruit. So yes, I had a cheeseburger today and it was a struggle, but I managed to eat it all YAYYYYY! I can't wait to weight myself in a few days, see if I've lost anything. I already know my appetite has shrunk!

Disney - know what you are going through with the whole exercise and diet thing. Its not my heart with me, just my body thats fit for the bin. I have to make sure I don't overdo things constantly, its a massive balancing act for me between, painkillers, exercise, dieting and just making it through one more day without the wheelchair. You've found the right place the vent and find an understanding ear. Sounds like you've had a helluva time with things, but I have heard that walking is the best form of exercise in the world, its better than sitting on the couch!

Rosebud - been scorching here all weekend! Thanks for sending the sun! The garden is finally springing to life and of all the seeds I planted a couple of months ago - I have ONE plant! ROFL

Well, SO has brought me a lovely bowl of strawberries, so I am going to go and enjoy - and see how many I can eat!

Take care all XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

 HI LADIES ~ we're having another scorcher here today; yesterday, it got up over 90F and today the same. WE kept the curtains and blinds closed and it stayed in the mid to high 70's F for most of the day, but as soon as that :sunny: hits the north-western sky, we roast!!! It's ... :hot::hot::hot: ... out there!

Don't know if we can keep things cool in here with a small A/C or not; the neighbour put a small one in his front door today. We tried our portable one in the livingroom last year and it just couldn't handle the heat in here from 2-7 pm. Sure hope some clouds come and cover that sun soon ... :^:

Made a one-pot dinner in our crock pot (or slow cooker) today ~ layered new potato, chicken breasts, and Asian veggies, etc with a mushroom sauce poured over that. It was very tastey, but it was not fun eating a hot dish when it is so hot in here too.

I am wondering if we might be better to do a switcheroo -- have a hot lunch and a cool dinner instead for the rest of the summer; think I am going to try that for awhile and see if that works out better for us.

TIGZ ~ gee, glad to here that you are feeling better; that must have been very scary -- sure glad your doctor was on top of that. You are fortunate that your doctor came to see you; here doctors don't make house calls unless you are friends or rare special cases.

A friend of mine had a bad leg and our doctor went to the same church as her, so he would go to her place and change her dressings now and then. This is NOT the norm in Canada; it's hard to get the docs to show up at the hospital emerg on off hours let alone do home visits. I had heard that things are done much differently in Europe though ...

I took some more pics of my flowers today; most of them are now in full bloom; and some Johnnycomelately's are now blossoming too. I think they are very early this year. The only thing is that they don't last too long (maybe 2-3 weeks tops); then they die off. Then we have to wait for the mid-summer flowers to start coming up; but they will continue on into the fall.

I hope to get some more mid-season flowers planted (may pic up some perennial panseys or something like that). It would be really nice to get a few double blooming Irises for the front (they bloom twice: summer and fall).

Hope all our friends are having nicer temps than we are; and that it starts to cool off for us pretty soon. Have a great week everyone ... Rosebud :flow1:

Hi, everyone!

Tigz-so sorry you had a bad run with your tummy. I've never gotten the pain you describe, but must keep on top of my sluggish bowel issues or I start puking. I never had this problem until this past year and it's been just awful, so I know how you feel. And, yeah, bananas don't help. I eat prunes and lots of fruits. I have started to notice that when I'm getting 'backed up' I get cravings like mad and want to eat all the time, which, of course, doesn't really help anything, but reminds me of how babies always poop when they eat and I think that's what my body tries to do-eat more to push things out. Sorry if that's TMI, but wondered if anyone else has noticed a similar effect?

Disney-wow! I'm glad your docs were able to find the heart problem and remedy it. Rosebud has a lot of good ideas for slow and easy toning and exercise. I also have problems with many exercises due to back and knee injuries, as well as MS which slows me down due to balance issues. I also find this site very motivating, since it's so nice to be able to talk to others in the same boat.

Rosebud-we've had some nice and getting very warm weather too! Lots of flowers springing up and got some veggies planted in our garden. We also had to turn on the AC yesterday, as the humidity got unreasonable and our upper level was like a sauna and I sure can't sleep if it's too hot. Allergies have been bothering the last few nights too after sleeping with windows open, so feel better this morning, after having the windows closed again.

Well, we've had a busy few days. DS2 has had graduation parties to go to and we had a couple ourselves. He did not want us to go to the expense and trouble of having one of these huge parties everyone here throws, so we've decided to just use the money we would have spent on a party to take him on a nice vacation for his "last summer home" so to speak, although we actually expect him to come home summers and work jobs near here (cheaper than renting apartments short term). He's finishing up his anatomy class, because he just enjoys it so well, and since his major in college is to be biology/law enforcement, he's decided to keep going up to the school so he won't miss anything in that class-he's the only senior left in the building-lol! Kind of 'king of the mountain' for the last couple weeks!

My friend who just found out her ovarian cancer has come back and is in her hip bones is here visiting for the day. Keep her in your prayers-she starts chemo again in a week or so.

Well, better go get something done here! Have a great day!

Disneychick29 05-24-2010 01:55 PM

Rosebud - Thank you so much for that information. That really helps alot! I am going to find that book and the strechie exercises sound like fun! There was alot of great information you gave me! I look forward to doing that!

Tigz- I am sorry to hear that you were sick I hope you are feeling much better! This is a great place to vent I am sorry that you can't move around that well either. I see that you all are losing weight and that is a battle on its own!! Let alone putting other problems into the mix.

Ronni-Thanks! yeah Rosebud had alot of good information for me. I think this will help alot. Sorry to hear about your injuries. My mother is the same way she is always in pain sometimes she can't even get out of bed in the morning so I definitely know how you all feel. It really does help to talk to others in the same boat!

So where is everyone from anyways? I am in HOOOOT FLORIDA :)

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-24-2010 07:22 PM

 HI LADIES ~ well, we had another :flame: scorcher :flame: today ... up to 95 F today. That is unbelievable for northern Canada -- we are supposed to get a thunderstorm and some :rain: tonight; that will be nice to cool things off ... :D

Thankfully, our young neighbour came over and helped DH put our other air conditioner in our front door and that is helping a lot. So, we have 2 of them going right now; kinda hard on the hydro bill, but one is an energy efficient model. We found that our bills never went up in any noticeable way in the other place we used it. Of course, we aren't using the clothes dryer or plugging our car in anymore, so that probably makes up the difference.

Did some gardening in the early AM; that is really good exercise (watering and weeding, that is) -- think I have found a new way to burn off some calories ... am thinking 3 days a week would be great! We have some more flowers blooming and coming up. DH started the front beds again, as they had grown over from lack of use over the years. Am thinking of some Irises or bush flowers of some type; will have to go hunting and see what I can find.

Hope you all have a great week ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 05-28-2010 07:44 PM

 WOWIE ~ how time flies when you are busy; didn't realize it had been so long since I was in here to post (I always come by to read the posts though). We had some doozy :rain: storms here -- lots of lightening and thunderboomies so I had to shut my PC down the last 2 days.

Today, the temps are much nicer in the high 70's right now but that is OK with me. I find 80 F or under is bearable; it's when it goes into the 90's with the humidity that really bothers me. Thank goodness for our portable air conditioner which is also a DE-Humidifier.

Went to the docs this aft and he is still bugging me about getting WLS; I guess we will just have to play this cat & mouse game back and forth ... he bugs and I say that I will think about it and around and around we go ... :D

We had fish and homefries (I had baked sweet potato fries; love 'em) plus coleslaw salad and sliced tomatoes and baby cukes for dinner. Very yummy and filling meal; and DH just loves this as fish of any kind is a favorite of his too.

Too bad that some black flies are out now; and so it's not good to be out in the early evening unless there is a nice wind. Later on in the late evening is much better, as they disappear into the grass for the night. Have a wonderful weekend ladies .... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-01-2010 11:46 PM

HELLO OUT THERE ~ been keeping busy lately; did some weeding (a few minutes at a time), some walking (esp around stores), and some of my exercise routine (as per usual; hand-weights, toning, and stretchie band). Having a good week; on plan too ...

We had a :rain:storm out there since late afternoon and most of tonight; so I had to wait til that all passed before coming on my PC. I haven't been able to get in to check my mail for a long while either.

Hope everyone is having a great week ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-03-2010 11:05 PM

 HUH-HUH, I know, everyone's busy or on holidays ... huh-huh, huh-huh!!! :D

We have had really nice spring-like weather this week; a few sprinkles :rain: here and there, some :sunny: , some clouds :cloud9:, and some breeze~~~too; really nice! Keepin' busy here too; lots of stuff done around here this week; my salad garden is growin' great: will take progress pics later on. Am keepin' on plan and gettin' my exercise in.

Am doing another personal challenge -- a JUNKLESS JUNE! I have banned all chippies and nachos from my house:  BUT I can have small healthy treats that fit into my plan and am well stocked up. ;)

Hope you all have a FANTABULOUS FRIDAY tomorrow ... R :flow1:

TheTigz 06-06-2010 04:55 AM

:coffee::coffee::coffee:Right, going to post now (early morning) cos I have just been far too knackered at night! Kids are away this weekend therefore I have peace and quiet just now - just the dogs nudging me for a pet!

Rosebud - Where would we be (and this thread) without you?

No, I had not fallen off the face of the world LOL, as with most women, when you are ill, the chores that you do tend to mount up a little.... and getting better meant catching up with it all:stress:. Must say though, SO has been fantastic looking after me and the kids, don't know how I would have managed without him.. Still not quite 100%, but near as dammit. Still taking meds for it and having 2 Activia yoghurts for breakfast LOL. Fat Free of course and flippin tasty. Back on the diet as well, been eating salads whenever possible ( I LOVE veggies!!!!!) and its also been absolutely gorgeous here and too hot to eat anything other than BBQ! Doing OK this time with the diet, but could be better. Willpower and resolve are not as strong, so I need to work on that this week.

News this past week: Kids met Prince Charles. No kidding. He came to our village and planted a tree in our special orchard and met all the locals. The school was there along with several other local organisations. The Minister has video on his website if anyone is interested at www.lussonline.net - skip to halfway through and when its in the park area, my kids are in the blue and green uniforms. Also gives you an idea of what my village looks like.

The also met Lord and Lady Colquhoun (local royalty LOL) the day before when they came to visit the school. Lady Colquhoun is also a teacher. Some week! They did say they are going to build us a new Village Hall LOL

We also had parents night last week, see how the wee devils have been getting on. Well, on the whole very good. DD needs to stop the chit-chat, but work is ok, DS has actually surprised the teachers with how much he has managed to learn this year (YAYYY) with his developmental delays and they are also catching up. He just needs to stay out of the mud!

SO has finished restoring the Jag, she looks incredible, will try and post a pic next week. Looking for some Classic Car rallys to take her to now.

I've been busy organising a Summer Fete for the school to raise some funds, getting interviewed for local radio about it next week. Also been making more jewellery as I am going to have a stall at it. If we have a good day weather wise, it will be astounding. The village is packed whenever the sun shines. We get something like 750,000 visitors a year. Fingers crossed and we get a lot of money for the kids.

Well, thats about it. Need to go and get dressed now and get back to the grindstone! Hope everyone is well, and get posting! Poor Rosebud must have raw fingers!

Take care all XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-07-2010 10:55 PM

THANKS, TIGZ ~ I figured that you were busy and/or indisposed ... you do have your hands full, but you are doing great nevertheless! That is a full agenda you have and what a great week for the kiddies, indeed -- meeting so many VIP's in one week. Will check out those pics too ...

Well, my PC is working well again; so managed to read my mail and get out some replies; got all our bills paid up, so we are doing great this week/month so far. Have been eating really well; keeping on plan; getting some kind of exercise in each day; and have been feeling better too. Only had one evening that I felt a bit odd, but that seems to be gone now. DH was almost over his flu and has a bit back again, but I'm trying to stay well.

We had a busy weekend; had some company on Saturday; then we went out on Sunday to one of our favorite places (ya, a lake) and for a nice, quiet drive too. Came home and had an ez oven dinner (cooks night off). Did some shopping today; picked up some stuff to fix the roof on our camper; and some shims for the cottage floor which is the next thing on our "TO DO" list.

WE hope to go up there this week and get some stuff done as our trip down south has been postponed to a later date.

Hope you all have a great week ... Rosebud :flow1:

ronni62 06-10-2010 08:20 PM

Hi, everyone! So long since I've been in here, but glad to see everyone's doing ok:)

Tigz-the kids meeting Prince Charles must have been very exciting! Looking forward to seeing photos of the Jag. It's good that you're feeling better now too. I'm also having serious willpower issues right now-still residual from my dad's death and other stresses. Just can't seem to figure out how to stop the emotional and stress eating and I'm so disgusted with myself.

Rosebud-Glad your pc problems are worked out. Frustrating when things aren't working right and you just want to get things back to normal. That seems to be my whole life right now.

We've just been so incredibly busy the last couple weeks. Having vacation Bible school at our church this week and I volunteered to work in the kitchen helping prepare snacks-we've had over 115 kids ages 5 to 5th grade each day, plus 40 or so leaders and workers to keep the herds under control;). Lots of prep and cleanup to be done every day. Plus, we invited 3 of the grandkids to come down for the week for VBS and they're keeping me very busy. They're ages 12, 11, and 4 and I'm keeping them and my own 2 alone as DH ended up having to go out of town to a conference all week:eek: I'm getting very tired and eating very poorly still:( Don't know how I'm gonna get my motivation back to start losing this weight again, but I've got to do something.

We're taking a vacation next week to the Black Hills in South Dakota, but will try to get on here to visit-our hotel is supposed to have wifi, so that will be nice. Just looking forward to having a break-if I can only find enough clothes that fit to pack a week's worth:o

Well, take care, ladies, and have a good weekend!

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-13-2010 06:19 AM

 HI LADIES ~ we have been really busy lately; spending lots of time up at our lot. We have been blessed with really nice weather the last few days, but got a wee sunburn on my face and neck yesterday from all the :sunny: so gotta watch that. The guys have started the cottage (the floor and front walls) and that is so nice to see some progress there ...

I have been keeping busy doing grass trimming around my trees and bushes; a bit at at time though. Taking my time and watering them as well. It's really good exercise so that makes me a bit tired by dinnertime. Came home exhausted yesterday; had a late but healthy dinner, and fell asleep early; hence, I was up with the chickens this AM ...

RONNIE ~ hope you all have a lovely time on your vacation this week. I think summer may be well on it's way; not sure if the official day is around the 21st of June (I think). This is a busier season for us all of us. Nice to hear from you and eventually, you can take some small steps to eating well again.

Mrs. Robin is out there singing up a storm for us; I can hear her through our kitchen window. Hope you all have a restful Sunday today; take good care of you and yours ... Rosebud :flow1:

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-17-2010 11:32 PM

 Our weather has turned really hot the last couple of days, esp today. Too hot to work really, so we had a short day. We got some nice windows today for a fab price; plus some other stuff too -- a wonderful blessing for us really.

My uncle TOM S who had cancer passed away peacefully in his sleep this afternoon after a brave battle for over 3 years. Recently, he caught a very bad flu that weakened him terribly, and he was unable to regain his strength. We are grateful that he is at peace now.

Hope you all have wonderful Friday tomorrow; enjoy the day ... Rosebud

Justwant2Bhealthy 06-20-2010 10:14 PM

 HI FRIENDS ~ We had a very busy and successful week; got the porch done on the cottage. Now DH will concentrate on some more of the floor, but that will be much easier for him as he is just drilling them in, so takes the strain off his arms and shoulders and back. :D WE are doing this in stages and will put the windows in later on.

I just stayed home from Friday on, as I was a bit under the weather on those days and it was very :hot: too ... I am going through menopause but every now and then, TOM shows up like a storm-trooper reaking havoc for me. I am slowly starting to feel better though and will be glad when its gone again.

Have been able to eat on plan pretty good this week and am pleased about that. Have been doing a bit of gardening every other day for exercise; spreading it out so as not to overdo it. Planted the first of my green beans and will plant some more next week and the week after too (successive planting).

Today was nicer; much cooler -- so we went for a lovely drive this afternoon to a favorite lake. We just had an easy dinner: I had a spicy big sausage with romaine salad with 1/2 cup potato salad on top; and that was very, very filling, I must say ...

Hope you all have a wonderful week coming up ... Rosebud :flow1:

ahmedayad 01-24-2015 03:01 PM

Hello, everyone! Hope you're all having a nice day/week I think things are starting to catch up with me, as I'm so tired I can hardly move today and definitely don't want to have to think about anything. Having lots of MS symptoms again too and we have to go to doc today to see if DS3's and my ear infections are recurring (started when we were in IN with Dad), as those symptoms have not gone away. Also, need to get some shopping done, but just not in the mood for it.

The end of the school year is looming and we still need to finish DS3's tests, which were put on hold when Dad got sick, and I'm afraid his scores aren't going to be as good as normal due to all the stress. Also, have stuff to get ready for DS2's senior day at church. And, still have a table full of stuff to sort of Dad's and ours from the extended trip to IN-my dining room looks like a tornado went through because of all the paperwork and bins of things to sort and store. Dad had a lot of tools and misc stuff for carpentry projects that we have inherited, so must find places to keep it for the boys for when they are on their own.

Wish I had something interesting to share, but right now my life is pretty boring and depressing. Based on the last month, though, I absolutely don't want any kind of excitement or crisis stirring things up.

I hope you all have a nice day! to all!

litirenko1983 04-02-2015 10:05 AM
