  • Hey There
OK I lost my post. I ate all day Sat. Our water heater took a hike.It is not 2 years old. We bought it at Home Depot. We went to see them and they just gave me some numbers to call. They did make arrangements for someone to call me Monday. I called the numbers they gave me when I got home and they just gave me more ph. numbers to call.Plumbers. In other words take care of it yourself. I may have to get our son to help us. They can't run over him as easy. I will never buy another large item from H/D again.. Those warranties are just just to sell you. I should have bought from Sears as I planned to in the first place..The water heater we had before was a sears and it lasted over 20 years without a problem. Now H/D says we need to have it looked at yearly. Before it finally goes we probably could buy 3 water heaters. Don't ask if I am P----- Off,You know I am.Enough.
It has got warm but it won't last.. We usually have a week of cold and then a week of warm this time of the year..
I started my eating plan good this morning . I hope I can keep it up the rest of the day.. Have a good week ..Joanne
  • Hi. Read the posts, but they all seem to go right over my head today lol.

Joanne - good luck with the new start. It's a new day! As for the hotwater heater, and every other appliance out there, they are no longer made to last long. Hope your son will have some success with getting it looked after.

Mima - have a good trip. I'll bet you are getting excited about the baby. When is he/she due again? How is your eye doing.

Tammy - put a little shovel on the front of your car and go!! lol Hope the fatigue is ok. I have been taking Rib-Rose and find it does help in that regard. Just been on it for 1 week. Dr. Oz advised it for Chronic FAtigue and FM, so thought I would try it.

Worked a lot of days last week, so this weekend is a rest one, as I must work again on Monday. Went for groceries on Tuesday, decided to come up the backalley and drop them on my deck, instead of trucking up the stairs with them, and I got stuck!!!! Lucky for me, the telephone guys were working in the alley and came to my rescue. They pushed me out. The elevator seems so far away, but would probably be easier.

Hope you all have a good day.
  • Kate, I finished before I was FINISHED!!! lol

Be careful you don't reinjure your shoulder. Also, doesn't the humidity bother your FM or OA. It sure does me. The cold is dry and I feel great during the coldest part of the winter.

Glad all that company didn't get there. Some is nice, too many are not.
  • Lilly is due April 5th. Suzanne's MIL had a big showere for the family and church members yesterday-there were 74 people. Our small one is next week. But it will be nice.
Leaving Thurs-I ate some zucchini skin yesterday and dearly pd for it. Where did you get the Rib-rose Anne. Never heard of it.
Brad says they should give you a new water heater but they won't pay for a plumber-no one does. He wants to know what kind it is??? gas or electric.
Weigh in today-I should be ok because I spent yesterday in the bathroom.'
    Bye for now-Mima
  • Hi Mima - It's Ribose. Don't know WHAT I was thinking when I typed the other lol Here is link for you http://www.nutrabio.com/Products/rib...a_research.htm

I bought mine in the healthfood store, but apparently Wal-Mart sells it as well.

Thanks for letting me know when baby is coming. It's getting closer.

Good luck with the weigh-in today.

I have to run, as it's a work day today.

    Enjoy the day, everybody.
  • Hey There
    Hello Everybody
Mima- The water heater is electric.. our son put a hose to it this morning to drain it. The people who were supposed to call us did . They wanted 98 dollars to come, first hour and 1/4 for any time after.. They said the parts were under warranty. That is not true. The G E people that H/D gave me a number for said they were not.Big deal ,the elements cost 16 & a piece. They take advantage of seniors, because they think we are old and stupid . We are going to let our son do it.. He said he knows how and has done several.. We rather pay him. He needs the money. I think Brad is right. But ,they won't replace the W/H.
It is supposed to rain today. I will believe it when I see it.
    Have a good trip Mima.
My weight is not going down, but, at least not up. These 10 lbs wants to stick.
    I keep trying..
    Joanne
  • Good morning all. Anne, thank you for that Ribose info....I just ordered a tub for myself. I have been so sore lately and not sure where I need to go from here for treatment. I will start this as soon as I get it....of course I will let my doctor take a look at it and he will probably want to do blood work, etc.....but I just feel the need to do something. I am hoping he will refer me to physical therapy for a short time as well. I need to get these muscles straightened out. Hubby only had yesterday off thgis week so we struggled to get as much done as we could. Got a lot accomplished too! Both of us were very sore and exhausted last night but it feels good to get some of those chores out of the way. Next big chore is to power wash the pool patio....but we're going to wait for the pine pollen to finish before we do it. That way all will be clean and ready for the warmer weather which lets us grill and eat outside.
Joanne, I seem to be doing the same thing regarding the eating at night lately. I am great all day and don't feel hungry but as soon as I have eaten supper and walked Queenie, I want to eat more. I think it is more of a habit for me rather than being hungry. I just need to break the habit! Mima, are you a celiac? I don't think I ever realized it before from your posts but what else causes your problems with food? I had IBS for over 30 years and since this SB diet, I haven't had any problems at all. I still do my fiber therapy every night but food doesn't seem to bother me like it did before. I just can't eat anything processed now...like white flour, sugar, white rice etc. Everything has to be whole grained.
Tammy, we finally had a couple of beautiful days here. It is a bit cloudy today and we are suppose to have rain but the temps are much better. I think the cold weather has finally left and we should be warming up fast now.
Need to get to the store....making a lasagna with whole grain pasta for tonight with a big salad on the side. Hope everyone enjoys their day!
  • I am sensitive to wheat-gives me ibs and congestion. I lost 2 lbs yesterday because I have been in the bathroom constantly. I will check on the ribose.\
Eye doc, shot and blood test this morning.
I bought a pair of shoes at Kmart and got home and they were 2 different sizes-my fault becuse I didn't look and I had been trying on both.Brought them back to get the right one.
I am not looking at the wether til tomorrow, Mima
  • Good morning, everyone.

I'm trying to get my exercise levels up, but gosh darn it, I pulled a muscle. I hate when that happens. I go along doing well, then I have to stop or severely limit myself so I can heal up.

On a different front--suffering from hay fever and low-level asthma. Darned false spring! (I know, I could be shoveling snow, instead.) It's raining right now, so I hope that will clear the air.
  • Good morning everyone. A rainy day here in Florida and we are suppose to have another cold front move in tonight....will be down in the low 40's. Uggghghhg! This cold damp weather is killing me! Pine pollen is very heavy as well which makes me nuts about cleaning the house! Oh well, at least I am not shoveling snow!
Joanne, I have heard that a water heater builds up minerals quickly and causes it to not heat the water enough. If you don't have a purification system on your house, you are suppose to drain/flush your water heater yearly to keep the stuff from becoming sediment in the bottom of the tank. The sediment turns hard like cement and then it is impossible to remove even after only a couple of years. I guess that's one way for plumbers to stay in business! Hope things work out for you.
Mima, what a way to lose weight!! I can't complain now that I am not eating any refined foods....don't seem to be having the IBS symptoms anymore. I used to take the enteric coated peppermint capsules to help soothe the intestinal tract whenever I had a flair up. They seemed to work really well and also had a "cooling" effect whenever you go to the bathroom! I know, more info than you needed, right? I have put on the same two pounds I took off last month...doctor is going to be real pissy about that! I just can't seem to get back to a no-carb plan for those two weeks....
Hubby had his company's yearly insurance/benefits meeting this morning. Our health insurance premiums have stayed the same but our co-pays have doubled. Now we will pay $20 per primary care visit and $45 for specialists. I suppose I should be grateful we even have the insurance at this point, huh?
Off to finish my chores. Need to fold laundry and organize some recipes. Hope everyone enjoys their day.
  • Hey There
Hello Everybody.. Our son came over and drained the W/H tank. No sediment. He finally found out the thermostat had gone bad. It heats now but we are still out of hot water after a 10 minute shower. He is going to change the other thermostat this week when he can. He went to work for a friend till he gets into the school for law enforcement in April.
Yes ,it is going to get cold again.. It is barely sprinkling now We need a lot more rain than that. I will take Christie out and hope for more rain tonight..
    Joanne
  • Going back over posts. Haven't been able to get on here sometimes. Anyone else having any problems?

Mima, that is one heckuva huge shower! Did you ever get the Minnie Mouse fleece for the blanket? Good job on 2 pounds! Boo on 2 different sizes.

Joanne, that stinks about the water heater. I agree with you about paying your son to fix it.

Anne, I might have to check into Ribose. I would say that most of my days aren't too bad. If there is a change in the weather, I have more pain then. Lucky for you that you had someone to help you out when you got stuck.

Kate, I bet your pool feels pretty good to you and your hubby to just relax in when you can. Pine pollen. Not sure what it is, but I'm wondering if maybe that was the cause of my illness a couple years ago when Bob and I were in Georgia for a month. I was sick from about the 4th day there till we left. Tried to doctor myself and ended up at urgent care. I'm sure pollen was mentioned. I am still ready to come back someday. I can get to your house and I can get to the Vero Beach Canine Country Club!

Kitte, ouch to the pulled muscle! Hope you feel better soon!
  • I am usually wheezing all the time this time of year but I think the cold weather helped. The Minnie Mouse fabric was in Orlando yesterday-I will make it later. Funny that my computer was leaving form MA and that's where I am flying to this am. For the shower. So far it's on time but I will check before I leave the house.
Cold again-Brad is helping a friend put in a new AC system this morning,
Bye for now-I will try to catch up in MA. My son's heating system shut down and they got 12 inches of snow. And he is in RI/
    Bye for now. Mima
  • Good morning everyone. Very chilly here this morning! The wind makes it feel even colder, too. We are suppose to warm up AGAIN this weekend. I wish this darn weather would just make up it's mind!!
Tammy, we don't do the pool this time of year. Sometimes we will turn the heater on for it if we are having company but it has been too cold to attempt to heat the water in it this winter! And we did not have the "usual" company this month. (I think Bill and his wife might be miffed at us because we said a week was the stay limit.) Oh well, that's life! Next time you are down this way, we should try to get Maurice and Queenie together to see how they would do. My neighbor brings her female dog into my home all the time. Queenie just goes to her food dish area to make sure there is nothing in it and then ignores her. The only time I have seen Queenie get "undone" is when another dog growls at her....then she can get quite "snarly". If they get along, maybe you could extend your Florida stay for few days by staying here? Just a thought for you to keep in the back of your mind!
Still having trouble staying away from carbs right now. This cold weather makes me want to eat a lot of them, too. I'm making a turkey meatball minestrone style soup for tonight and there's nothing like a nice whole grain crusty bread to go with it!! I just have to limit myself to one piece....yeah, right!~ I'll keep at this diet though and try not to put anymore weight on. My doctor is going to pitch a fit this next time around....
Off to buy some greens for the soup. Hope everyone is staying warm. I'll check back later.
  • Mima, brrr to your son with no heat!

Kate, usually when Maurice "meets" another dog for the first time, he'll growl a little or bark, then he hides. It would be so funny to see them together with their different sizes. At the place he goes here when I go away, he has played with their Newfoundlands, and that is a hoot!

We have lots of ice this morning. Last night the snow was blowing and drifting on the roads and made them super slick. Lots of sirens all morning. Tim was supposed to go off squad duty at 5, but I don't know if he did. He doesn't have his first class this morning, but he has two this afternoon. I worry about him on the road. He was on a run yesterday afternoon for a car that hit a slick spot and rolled over into a field. The lady was ok. She said the car rolled so slowly that she probably could have gotten out while it rolled! Glad she stayed put!

Classes were cancelled at the Y because of the road conditions. I plan on staying put for now. May run to the grocery later.
