Hey
Pretty Good Happy... I am not sure I could stay up with a 4 year old... It has been a long time since I have had little ones around. They are full of boundless energy..
We didn't get our afternoon rain and occording to the weather man we won't this week. I live too close to the Gulf of Mexico.. The west winds hold the rain back. Hello everyone...Joanne |
Happy, sounds like you had a good week with Ashley. And a nice and busy weekend. I'm sure you need some rest now.
Even if they wear you out, those kiddies are the best medicine aren't they? And four is such a darling age. Of course, I'm such a sucker for any age. Joanne, I didn't realize the company the miners worked for hadn't come up with much over the weekend. I guess they know they are targets for lawsuits. Tonight on local TV they said the miners would be paid overtime for the time they spent in the mine. Sounds like good PR. I did notice I hadn't seen any company reps when I was watching the news. Our young Gov seemed to handle it well. Too bad he's not going to run. I think he has a lot of credibility even before all of this. But he's so young that he could always run later - after his kids are grown. That's why he decided not to run and he announced it a long time ago. He said he was willing to campaign but not to spend the time needed for fundraising because he has three young children and doesn't want to miss all that time with them. Candice - that sounds like some storm you had! Hope no one was hurt. Serenity - the west Nile virus thing sounds frightening. We've had it found in some birds around here but I don't know of any people. I've done pretty well the last two days with exercise and water and even food to some degree (I never get it totally right). I weigh in tomorrow. Dh and I hope to go to Laurel racetrack in MD tomorrow. Never been there, may stay overnight. Need something different. Weather has been so hot; yesterday was a really bad greeting for Ally - today was also very hot but there was some breeze and the humidity was somewhat better. supposed to be even better tomorrow but no rain. We had a drenching on Sunday but only in an area or two. We were lucky we got it; usually it rains all around us. There's a mountain range just to our west and it breaks up a lot of storms before they get here. My flare has just about subsided; I'm sure it was weather related or t riggered. I've been doing fairly well lately until last week and just want it all to go away. Hope you all have a good day Wednesday. |
Anagram...I think I've been having a flare all year!!! Wish mine would just go away, too!
I went to the Dr. today...my regular M.D. I told him what the Rheumatologist said about my foot and leg...pinched nerve, etc. He asked what he was doing about it. I said, nothing except he put me on Neurontin again. He just shook his head and said, well that won't do. So he's sending me for an xray on Thursday. I have to go to Nashville tomorrow at 1 p.m., to the surgeon that did my biopsy, for a check up. Then to PT on Thursday and for an xray on Friday...it never ends!!! About the gold...I had one internet dealer take a look at the photos and say it was a fake because it was dull in color. Then, another dealer sent me 2 emails today and wanted my phone # in the 2nd...said he needed to talk to me. I sent it to him and about 5 minutes later he called. He asked me to 'spin' it and see if it 'wobbled'! Well...I never could spin a coin. I tried but could only get it to spin a little. I told him I'd already about figured out it was fake. He said he thought it was a Balwin and that they put copper alloy in a lot of theirs. He said if there was any gold in it at all it was worth a lot of money. He said the fakes wouldn't spin because they weren't balanced like the gold ones. So...I told hubby when he came home. He got it to spin a long time. My mil got it to spin for a very long time and my son got it to spin for a very, very long time. He said if it would spin and if it was heavy it was probably real! If it is real, it could be worth as much as $75,000. I still think it is fake because it is so dull but he said the copper alloy would make it dull. We'll see I guess. I think I'm going to take it to a jeweler on Thursday and see if they can tell if there is any gold in it. Would be nice if it were worth that much, huh? Here's the head: http://www.design-max.net/coinhead.jpg Here's the back: http://www.design-max.net/coinback.jpg I was packing up my Mom's things last night and I found an entire album of black and white photos...some were dated back in the 1930's. This one is my favorite of me!!! |
Hi Gals
Well another weigh in today and I am down. A total of over 10 lbs. to date. REally hard for me to grasp this altho I do feel thinner. We have had some mine disasters here and the owners usually don't get involved unless they have too. I think they are always worried about law suits. I once worked at a gold mine. Gold is very heavy. It would weigh more than any other coin of the same size. A bar of gold is not too big but weighs about 50 lbs. Because the weight is soo very condensed, it is difficult to lift. Even when I was younger and strong, I could not lift a gold bar. If a bar of gold was put on my desk, I could not move it by myself. The NOrth American Indigenous Games are on and there are lots of tourists here for that. We went today for a walk at the site and went through the teepees and other tents etc . Arts, crafts, and lots of info on diff. tribes Indians, and Inuit from USA, Canada, and Greenland. We watched the opening ceremonies on TV and it was just wonderful. Sorry we couldn't go but that was the day of our family picnic. Hot weather here again but cooling off at nite. We had rain last nite, but still had to water today. Hi to everyone Serenity |
Hey There
Serenity...You seem to be doing really good with your wt.loss. It is slow ,but that is better.. I wish that I could have been in your area to see the indigenous games. I have always been very interested in things that pertain to history. It was my best subject in school.
Meme.. You have probably found the best ,when you found the photos. You were a cute little girl. I bet your children will value those pictures forever. Happy. ..When it is cold we can't wait for summer and when it is hot we wait for winter. I know I do.The humidity is the worst down here. I usually try to get some sun and a tan. Not this year. I have not been up to it . The pain in my knee has drug me down. I don't like to take a lot of medication,so I have to just deal with it. I will probably have to go back for another injection soon. Oh Well"That's Life". I think that is an old song. Hello All...Joanne |
The native American conference sounds really interesting. I'd probably just get to see what's on TV as I haven't got used to being able to walk in crowds again. Before the knee replacements (and a long time afterwards) have been afraid of them being bumped or stumbling on uneven ground.
Those black and white pictures are great, arent't they? So good you have them. Do you know who everyone is? I think the humidity here is dragging me down, too Joanne. It seems you feel it this year even in A/C. Your pain is probably too much for these now but Icy Hot patches helped me a bit. Didn't take the pain all away but did make it more tolerable. I'm fairly out of the flare last week but still feeling the fatigue and the "down" feeling. Can't seem to make any decisions, have too many little things that need doing and want (suddenly) to do some big cleaning project (Hehehe!). We did take an off day yesterday and went to the racetrack in Laurel Md. Had a nice day, decided to come home as nothing seemed to grab us enough to stay overnight. Just about covered our gambling pittance and enjoyed the day. Dh is golfing this morning and I'm off to the pool. He says he won't be golfing Sat and I should plan something if I want but I can't think of anything, at least not yet. My weight loss efforts don't seem to be going as well as they were. Need an infusion of enthusiasm there too, I guess. Have not yet met that elusive ten lb down level though at times, it's seemed so close. Know I can't give up and know I'm feeling better than I did 9 and a half lb heavier. It's so hard, Joanne, when you can't move around much and so easy to gain so I hope you can hold on with that. Think I'll go vacuum and dust the family room before I go. For me that probably is a "big" cleaning project any more. Get the old adrenaling going maybe. Good day, all! Ellen |
Good morning
Well, I hope this day finds you all feeling well.
Meme - cute picture. When my Mom passed away, I went through all the pictures. So many we didn't know. Really old pictures. Of course, some were of my Dad's family as well, and there was no one to tell us who was who. It was quite a challenge. My aunt tried and knew some of them, but mostly they are just people - very, old people! I hope you are getting things done without a lot of hasstle. Joanne - It was downright cold here yesterday. It was only in the 50's and as the day wore on, they were talking about heavy rain mixed with snow!!!! on JULY 31!!! Northern Alberta had 5cc of snow the night before. Yikes, the weather is a mess this year, but as much as I don't want those really hot tempts., I sure don't want SNOW!!! Just mid 70's will do. I think the humidity is really hard on arthritis and FM. I ALWAYS feel worse when it is humid. Serenity - Good weightloss. It took me a very long time to lose 13 pounds. It just wouldn't move. Stuck to ww diet and I would lose .8, or .6 or some ridiculous amount. Have been maintaining what I lost, and I fully intend to get back at it, but with more protein added. Keep it up. Anagram - sounds like you and hubby get around a bit. That is good, going out and being able to enjoy yourself. Keep at that weightloss. It will happen. With some of us, it just takes longer. Ally and Candice - Don't know what your up to, but I hope you are both doing ok. Candice, are you still digging your way out of that storm? That would have been so frightening. Went to the Dermatologist yesterday, and I have Psorias's on the palm of my hands and on my head. This all started the end of February or the first of March. I told her about the accident and she said that it was a result of stress on the body - and boy was I stressed at that time  Anyway, the Dr. had tried various creams and they kind of kept it under control. She gave me a stronger cortisteroid cream, so we will see how this works. Also, some lotion for my poor old head. Wish it would just all go away!!!! |

TOO FUNNY & TOO TRUE
Anne...hope your hands and head are better!!! Sometimes I wish my whole head would just go away! Serenity, good job on the weight loss. I seem to be like Anagram...I just can't get in the groove. I've gained quite a bit since Mom had her first stroke back in May. I was eating a lot of junk...eating out etc. Then I brought her home and had to start cooking to 'fatten' her up some. Then she had the 2nd one and I completely stressed out. Eating out again and then all the food people sent over here for the funeral. Now I can't seem to get back to eating right. We are going to the lake next week so it will be hard!!! Hubby will take a lot of junk along! I'm going to go clean out my fridge. I just can't seem to get anything done lately. I feel 'adrift' or something! Yes, I know who almost everyone is in the photos. There are 2 little boys I'm not sure of and one man in his 20s. I'm going to NC in Sept. so I'm going to take the book along and ask some of my Aunts. I've decided to go over (it's only about a 4 hr. drive) twice a year so I don't lose touch with my other relatives! I'll go in the fall or early winter and then again Father's Day. That's when they have decoration where my grandparents and my brother are buried. I'm going in Sept. this year because we already have a vacation planned for October this year. I just HAVE to get some work done!!!!!!! Somebody MOTIVATE me! All I want to do is mope around. I went to the hospital today and had my foot xrayed and had an ultrasound of my neck...Dr. said he 'heard' something that didn't sound 'right' in my arteries in my neck. Seems like when I have to go somewhere in the middle of the day my whole day is shot and I don't want to do anything else! I'm going, I'm going....look out fridge...here I come! |
Hello
Meme.. You sound like I feel. I too can't seem to get it together. I think if I eat something I will feel better. Well I went through a large box of cheezetts this week and I still don't feel any better. My knees have started hurting again so all the exercise to make them stronger didn't do any good .:?: I think all of us ,in one way or another are in the same boat.
Happy ..George Carlin is my hubby's favorite. Some of his stuff makes me hide my face. This one was so true...I can't believe the weather you are having!! It is hot and humid here and not all that pleasant. Hello everyone...Joanne |
Hey There
This has been a really quiet day...I am off to see my daughter and G/son who will be on a short leave. He is in the navy and stationed on the Harry S.Truman out of Norfolk.Va. I wonder did any of you see the piece on Fox news about a week ago about it? It is one of the biggest and newest carriers in the navy.
Bye for now see you about tuesday...Have a great weekend Joanne:wave:  |
Well...I got the fridge cleaned out. Cleaned the kitchen, too. Washed a load of clothes. Went out to eat and then got in my groceries for the week. Came home and put them all away, made out my Avon order for the weekend, made out mine and Mom's monthly bills, wrote two letters to insurance companies, took a shower and fell into bed about 1 am. Went to sleep about 1:30 and woke up at 5...couldn't go back to sleep so I just got up and started again. I did some housework, unpacked some boxes I had brought from Mom's over here. Got dressed and went to town. Ran errands until 12:30, met Paula for lunch, went over to the hospital to drop off insurance papers, went to Physical Therapy for an hour, stopped off at a jeweler to see if my coin was worthless (it is), went to the drug store, stopped and picked up hamburgers (frozen) for the cook out Sunday (son's BD), went to Kroger, came home and fed the dog, let the furniture guys in with my new table and chairs (they are BEAUTIFUL!!!), cooked dinner and cleaned up the kitchen. Now I'm off to Mom's to do some more packing over there and then home to do some more laundry over here! Let's see...it is 7 p.m....if I'm lucky I should be able to take my shower and fall into bed by 1 again 'tonight'! Tomorrow I have to clean the house and finish the laundry and iron and make potato salad and make chicken salad and go to Cookeville to pick up the BD cake and pack and groom the dog and wash my hair and do my nails and call all my piano students to set up appointments for week after next. Oh well...on the bright side...I don't have to mow or do any yard work!!! :p
|
Enjoy that visit, Joanne. No, I didn't see that show. Sounds interesting.
Meme, It would take me a month to do all that. We reached 100 degrees today. Don't even know what the heat index was. Had a little storm about an hour ago so it feels a bit better. Supposed to have a bit less humid weather tomorrow, still hot but less humid. Nice weekend, all. No special plans here. |
Hi
Joanne, have a really nice visit with your daughter and grandson.
Meme - slow down girl, where is the fire!!!! If you keep up this pace you are going to crash bigtime. You are busier than a onearmed paper hanger. Take it easy. Anagram - 100 above and I am sure I would be dead:lol: The 90's almost killed me. Now, if you can believe this - we are close to snow!! An 1 1/2 away from where I live, snow is on the ground. I have lived in Alberta all my life, and I have NEVER seen weather like we have had this year. Snow in AUGUST!! It is going to get near freezing tonight as well. Next week, it is going to warm up again. Just can't figure this weather out. Today is the first full day of rain we have had since last summer. We are in a sever drought here and now it is raining when it really won't help anyone out. Perhaps the ground if it rains for a few days. It is a long weekend here this weekend - the final summer weekend before all the kids go back to school and it is to cold to camp. The lakes will surely be dead this weekend. It is a civic holiday and only in Alberta. I wish you all a wonderful day tomorrow and hope that your pain levels are way down. Hello, Serenity, Candice and Ally. |
This is too funny! So are you all getting the Knob!
The Knob A lady in her late 40's went to a plastic surgeon for a face lift. The doctor told her of a new procedure called "The Knob." This small knob is planted on the back of a woman's head and can be turned to tighten up the skin to produce the effect of a brand new facelift forever. Of course, the woman wanted "The Knob." Fifteen years later the woman went back to the surgeon with two problems. "All these years everything had been working just fine. I've had to turn the knob on lots of occasions and I've loved the results. But now I've developed two annoying problems. First of all I've got these terrible bags under my eyes and the knob won't get rid of them." The doctor looked at her and said, "Those aren't bags, those are your breasts." She replied, "Well, I guess that explains the goatee." |
I do not think a race horse could keep up with meme!
Got the yard cleaned up and now I hurt so gotta take it easy I guess! Snow...........Oh no.............it's still hot and humid here! |
Hi!!!!
Hello everyone-I'm back for 2 days and then gone for a week. What changes in my job-we are staying at a different place-not the plushy hotel-and people are not happy. The security is not good-you can get in the building because there are no locks on the hallway doors, I won't bring my laptop next week. Plus there was an armed robbery in the office a little while ago. We are all seniors-this is difficult. We are working at a new facility and that is hard-no place to sit down for lunch except the work rooms. The building is not finished but it will be nice. People are quitting. I can put up with some of the things but I hate leaving home all the time. I want to do something so I may try subbing. I overate all week and couldn't walk because I have inflammation on the top of my foot. Doc put me on more meds including prednisone!!!You know what that does!!Brad says he'll send me back to work if I get crazy. Congrats on that weight loss. Serenity. Meme-grieving takes a lot out of his-deal with your feelings!!!It's a process. Bye for now-I have as much to do as Meme today. Mima Hi to all-where's Ally?
|
Mima is going crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and....................... DH called me an "old hag"....................:D |
Hi
Candice, why am I going crazy? and absolutely not that you are an old hag although my husband affectionately calls me old lady. Sermon in church awesome about husband's responsibility to wife!!And Brad lives up tp 99% . Getting ready to go back to work but am definitely deciding that I don't want to be away from home to work so I'll explore other options. Have a good week everyone!!!Mima
|
Hi all =
Happy, how's the cream doing with you psoriasis? I have a bro. who suffers with that and know it can be miserable and frustrating. Its' hard for me to believe you're using words like "snow" and "freezing". I don't want it to be that cold yet but boy I sure wish it would be a bit better here. the temp each day comes in higher than predicted. Weather channel says it's 95 at the airport but our car said it was 100 when we were driving home from mall. Airport is right on the river and I think does not get as hot as some other areas. Fortunately we do have a/c but when it's hot/humid as this you are still affected and drained even in a/c. Our system is pretty good but I'm sure not designed for this constant miserable stuff. Supposed to be better Wednesday. But I think they said that about last Wed too. Mima, I wouldn't want to be away too much either. What kind of work do you do? Meme, hope your foot and neck are ok. Are they following up on that something that didn't sound right? Were going to go to a picnic today but too darn hot. Busy week planned. Were looking for birthday present for dgd who will be two next Sunday. Haven't a clue what to get her but am looking forward to going down to see her and her sister next Sunday. |
Well...I got everything done...made it through the BD cookout...got all the food in for vacation, etc...I'm packed and nearly ready to go. I haven't heard from my tests yet. I'll call in the morning...maybe! I'm half way afraid to call...afraid I'll have to postpone my trip again! I asked hubby what we'd do if they said it was a stress fracture or something in my foot and I needed a cast. He said we wouldn't be able to go...too much walking down to the houseboat, etc. I said, well...I'll just wait and call when we get back. He said, I don't think so! :p
If all goes well in the morning, I'll talk to you again on Friday. We're supposed to have baby Jenna Friday night and Saturday morning. Paula is having a sleep-over for Ross for his 6th BD. Baby Jenna won't fare too well with all those 'big boys' in the house! ;) I'm looking forward to it...I never get to have her alone...always other kids around. 3 yr. olds are sooo much fun! Here is a picture of the lake we are going to be on...I made it the last time we went fishing. It is huge. There is over 300 miles of shore line! I get absolutely lost everytime we go out on it. I tell hubby every time that if something were to happen to him I'd just have to 'drive around' :D until I found someone who could tell me how to get back to where we started!!! |
Hello all
Meme - that looks like a beautiful spot to be. Wish I was there. It has been really cold here for this time of the year. A couple of days it was only 48 above!!! That sure isn't summer weather. Today was a lot warmer and I guess we are heading into some really nice weather - not that hot stuff, - just nice comfortable weather.
Mime - It is hard to leave home for a job. It is fine when it is only you, but once you are happily settled you just don't want to go. I hope you are able to find something close by. Candice - Old hag!!!! Has the man gone blind - you aren't old:lol: Anagram - Hope you got away on your picnic. It is just as bad to have weather so hot you can't be out enjoying it, as it is to have it really cold. Either way, you become a prisoner to your home. Serenity - Was it a long weekend in Manitoba as well this past weekend? I had both kids home (my son is single - my daughter married), so had a busy weekend. All is quiet now, but of course, it should be, as it is 1:15a.m. I can't sleep and I hate that!!!! Thank goodness it doesn't happen often. Ally - Where ARE you!!!! Gee it has been awhile since we heard from her. I hope she is ok. Well, I am going to try to get some sleep. Maybe now I can go back and fall asleep. Everyone have a great day. |
Hey
Where the heck is everyone. I think Meme must be on her holiday, and Mima is away working, but where is everyone else?
Joanne, how was your visit? |
Hi
Hi-I'm home for the night!!!!My husband has psiorasis!!!Haven't found anything good yet. Bye for now.Mima
|
Aaah! Thank you nice Canadians for the cold wave you've sent us. Today was incredibly beautiful and tomorrow also supposed to be. Then more seasonable temps. Feel almost human again. Am going to go join dh on the patio till the sun goes down. I think we're going to run away from home again tomorrow since the weather's to be so nice.
|
Hi Mima. I have just been diagnosed with psorias as well. I only have them on the palm of my hands and on my scalp. I have had them since that accident we had in the winter. I FINALLY got to go so a Dermatologist on Wednesday, and she precribed a cortisone cream .1% for my hands and a cortisone lotion for my head. That seems to be working fairly well. Also, have to use a coaltar shampoo and she said to leave it on for 15 minutes. Then get back in the shower and rinse it out. My hands are a lot harder, because they are always seeming to be in water one way or the other. I hope he is able to find something to help. Doesn't seem to be much on the market really - at least not in Canada.
Anagram - I sure am glad you are enjoying the cooler weather. We are having another low, this time coming up from Oregon and it is not an overly warm one. We have hardly made it to the 50's the past week. This is terrible weather for August!!!!! |
"Brad says he'll send me back to work if I get crazy." This is why I said you were going crazy...so he calls you his old lady! Dh appologized to me. that comment was so unlike him....he says he does not know where it came from!
So Happy you say I am not old but you do not say I am not a hag! Cooler here and I sprayed for insects outside today...4 gallons of stuff:fr: My arms hurt..so I cut back on my weights... http://www.tidalweb.com/fms/rhg.shtml :flow1: :flow2: :cb: :sp: :cp: :bb: :stress: The "old Hag" |
Would your men stay in a sexless marriage?????????????????
|
Hey There
Hey Everybody...I had a nice weekend..
Candice..A sexless marriage??? Not my Greek Husband..Me now I guess I am like a lot of women my age..I have other things on my mind,I just don't let him know. Serenity..It is hot and muggy here in florida. Very tropical right now.. I am looking for the cool air and so far it is coming from the air conditioner. Mima... I always thought that the working conditions were what made it worthwhile to go to work. When it was no longer true I decided to stay home and do my own thing.. I am much happier. Happy.. It looks like you will soon have winter again.. Hello Meme. Ally...Bye...I have a load of wash to do and many more chores...Joanne |
Hello
Candice - I just wanted to make sure you were reading the posts:lol: Of course you are not an 'old hag'. A sexless marriage - I don't think so!!! Even I wouldn't want to stay!
Mima - Good you got home. How far do you have to travel? Hope you don't get to tired. Joanne - Glad to hear you had a good time visiting your daughter. I think I will go tomorrow to visit with my daughter and visit some friends. Hubby is out of town for the night, so it is a good time to go. Just hope I get some energy before tomorrow - otherwise, I will have to wait until next week. It is a 2 hours drive and when I am fatigued, I just can't drive. Anagram - Hope you are still enjoying the cooler weather. It is starting to heat up again here, but it should just get to really comfortable and not really hot. Everyone have a good day. |
Sure am enjoying! Dh and I took off today and went to a pretty park (amusement) almost 2 hours away. It was a lovely day to be there and we spent close to six hours walking around, sitting, walking around, sitting, people watching. Ate our lunch, rode a little train, and had a big double dip ice cream cone = I know, I know. But it was my DINNER. I'll have a little snack in a bit once I finish my e mails.
Tomorrow I'll go to Mom's and take her to lunch and catch up her stuff (checks, etc. - nothing physical). It's an hour's drive each way so I too hope I'm not tired. But it should be a pleasant drive. Most of it is very rural. PLUS I lost a whole pound since last week... Ta Dee Da! I've broken through my first ten pound loss. But with ice cream cones and birthday cake (Sunday) I'd best be careful. I'll be back up again in a minute. Went through some smaller clothes to find some to share with baby sister who has lost 40 odd pounds since the beginning of the year. Tried on one outfit one size smaller and I could GET INTO IT. Wouldn't wear anything as tight as it was but I could get into it and that's more than I could say a few months ago. I feel almost like dancing. Once I sit down for a minute, I'll probably be snoring. Nite, Nite. |
What I mean is what if it were medically impossible for one of you to have s e x?????? you know paralized or something..would your Dh or you still stay in the marriage know you could never do it again????????? The vows do say for better or worse;)

Hi Gals
Sounds like we are all enjoying the cooler weather. Do not want to complain that it is this cool in Aug. But - we took a day off and ran away too. We went to Gimli, a small fishing town, but now a touristy town on the south basin of Lake Winnipeg. It was a wonderful day. Walked the beach and walked the dogs, no dogs allowed on beach. Cool breeze blowing, too cool for swimming, I can just imagine all those people paying high rent for a cottage for a week or two of holiday and then not being able to swim. Lots of whinney kids, building sand castles, not able to get into the water. We are considering a cottage in that area, but taking our time checking things out. Lots of people moving out there from the city, and staying year round. REally something to think about. It is only about 45 mins from the edge of the city. It would certainly be different, being able to walk to everything, including the beach.Lake Winnipeg is a very large lake, you feel you are looking out on the ocean. I weighed in yest. and was up just over 1 lb. I still think this is a result showing now of the prednisone, which I am no longer taking. I feel thinner, and have increased my exercise, and on the whole feel great. Bothered again with IBS but not too bad. A few days of pepermint tea and toast usually clears it up. A sexless marriage - well my dh would put up with anything that comes along. - remember the vaginal muscular pain? - well they are re-occuring off and on - likely forever, all just another part of the FM. You have to put some spice into life when you are at your best. We had hoped to go out to Gimli today but realized today is my respiritory clinic. I have severe asthma and allergies. So no go today. Anyway, it poured rain all nite and my grass that I seeded near the end of June is finally coming up YIPPEEE. I had watered it 3 times a day and nothing was happening. Looks like it will rain all day today, so will maybe get back to the lake on the weekend. BAck to the diet - I took a look at the site on Carbo's. Very interesting, but don't think that's me. Will take another read on it anyway. Hi to everyone, hope you are all having a good week. Serenity |
Good Morning
Candice - I read that article on RHG and I truly believe that is me. Now about staying in a sexless marriage - marriage is NOT only sex. I would never leave hubby because of that and I know the same is true for him. We have a LOT more going for us than sex. That is a part of a healthy life. Hope your stomach feels better soon.
Serenity - I lived at Sylvan Lake, here in Alberta. It is also a fairly big lake, and gives you the feeling of being at the ocean. I loved living there, I don't have asthma problems, but I do have sinus problems, and the worst thing for me was the smoke from the camp fires. I have gotten so I can't tolerate it - yet I love the smell of camp fires. Just don't seem to be able to breath. At the lake, there are literally hundreds of campfires burning everyday. The small gain is probably due to meds, alright. Anagram - Good work on that weightloss. Sounds like you and hubby had a great day. Nice to be able to just get up and go. Hope you all have a nice day. I think I am off to the city to visit friends today. Just a couple hour drive away. Will stay at my daughters tonight. Be back tomorrow night. Hubby is out of town tonight, so I decided I would be too:lol: Hi Joanne. Hope you have a nice day. Where in the world has our baby Ally gotten too? |
Something to make you smile
Kids. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
1. The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, "Johnny! What are 4, 2, 28 and 44? " Little Johnny quickly replied, "NBC, CBS, HBO, and the Cartoon Network! " ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 2. When I stopped the bus to pick up Chris for preschool, I noticed an older woman hugging him as he left the house. "Is that your grandmother? " I asked. "Yes, "Chris said. "She's come to visit us for Christmas. " "How nice, " I said. "Where does she live? " "At the airport, " Chris replied. "Whenever we want her, we just go out there and get her, " ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 3. I didn't know if my granddaughter had learned her colors yet, so I decided to test her. I would point out something and ask what color it was. She would tell me and always she was correct. But it was fun for me, so I continued. At last, she headed for the door, saying sagely, "Grandma, I think you should try to figure out some of these yourself! " ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 4. When the mother returned from the grocery store, her small son pulled out the box of animal crackers he had begged for, then he spread the animal-shaped crackers all over the kitchen counter. "What are you doing? " his Mom asked. "The box says you can't eat them if the seal is broken, " the boy explained. "I'm looking for the seal. " ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 5. This little grandmother was surprised by her 7 year old grandson one morning. He had made her coffee. She drank what was the worst cup of coffee in her life. When she got to the bottom, there were three of those little green army men in the cup. She said, "Honey, what are these army men doing in my coffee? " Her grandson said, "Grandma, it says on TV 'The best part of waking up is soldiers in your cup! '" ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 6. In the supermarket was a man pushing a cart that contained a screaming, bellowing baby. The gentleman kept repeating softly, "Don't get excited, Albert; don't scream, Albert; don't yell, Albert; keep calm, Albert. " A woman standing next to him said, "You certainly are to be commended for trying to soothe your son, Albert. " The man looked at her and said, "Lady, I'm Albert. " ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ 7. A three-year-old boy went with his dad to see a new litter of kittens. On returning home, he breathlessly informed his mother, "There were two boy kittens and two girl kittens. " "How did you know that? " his mother asked. "Daddy picked them up and looked underneath, " he replied. "I think it's printed on the bottom. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~ 8. While working for an organization that delivers lunches to elderly shut-ins, I used to take my four-year-old daughter on my afternoon rounds. She was unfailingly intrigued by the various appliances of old age, particularly the canes, walkers and wheelchairs. One day I found her staring at a pair of false teeth soaking in a glass. As I braced myself for the inevitable barrage of questions, she merely turned and whispered, "The tooth fairy will never believe this! " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 9. A little girl was watching her parents dress for a party. When she saw her dad donning his tuxedo, she warned, "Daddy, you shouldn't wear that suit. " "And why not, darling? " "You know that it always gives you a headache the next morning. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10. While walking along the sidewalk in front of his church, our minister heard the intoning of a prayer that nearly made his collar wilt. Apparently, his five-year-old son and his playmates had found a dead robin. Feeling that proper burial should be performed, they had secured a small box and cotton batting, then dug a hole and made ready for the disposal of the deceased. The minister's son was chosen to say the appropriate prayers and with sonorous dignity intoned his version of what he thought his father always said: "Glory be unto the Faaaather. And unto the Soonnn. . . . . . . and into the hole he gooooes. " ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 11. A little girl had just finished her first week of school. "I'm just wasting my time, " she said to her mother. "I can't read, I can't write, and they won't let me talk! " |
Maybe Ally got lost in the wilds of Central PA.
Sounds like a great day at the lake, Serenity. Loved both pictures you and Happy posted of the beautiful lakes. Til Death Do Us Part = we said it almost 44 years ago and that 's the only way dh gets away from me. Hope your getaway trip was lots of fun, Happy. All went well on my trip yesterday but two days of runaround have left me achy and tired. DH and I going shopping today for birthday gifts for Amanda who'll be two Sunday. Will get to see both our kids and grandkids then = a five star day whenever that happens. How's that knee, Joanne? Still giving you grief? |
Hey There
Hello Everybody
Happy -You are so right marriage is not just sex...My hubby and I have been together 49 years this christmas. Life changes through the decades. I was 16 yrs old when we met and 20 when we walked down and"jumped the broom". Have you ever heard of that? Truely we were married in the Greek Church.. Now we both are fighting the battal of the bulge:lol: Candice.. Medically impossible should be looked into and solved .. How are your flowers doing this year.. Annagram..The knee has been giving me a lot of grief.. I will survive it till after the Holidays and then take care of the problem.. When we were at my daughters ,I got up from a chair to go to bed and couldn't walk. It just would not stay in place. I had taken off the support because the therapist told me it was not good to wear it all the time... Well he doesn't have to stand on it. Needlest to say my son had to help me to get to bed. How embarrasing is that? My daughter couln't believe her eyes..She thought I was being dramatic..Yeah... Hey Meme. Mima.Wheres Ally? Good weight loss Serenity. Now aren't you glad we help to talk you into going to WW. Sounds like you are losing inches. I had a pair of size 16 jeans in my closet for almost 15 years when I went to WW the last time.. It was a happy day when I put them on and they were too big.. Got to get busy. My hose has got to get vacumned..Etc...Bye..Joanne:wave: |
I'M BACK!
The houseboat was wonderful (I'll have some pictures later). We had a great 5 days. It wasn't too hot most of the day. The morning and afternoons were wonderful. It got a little hot about 12 or so and stayed that way until about 3 or 4...we took naps! This is weird....but just sitting here at the computer...I feel like I'm moving still! :dizzy: The boat was at the pier and didn't really move that much. Tuesday, it was really windy and you could feel it moving most of the day. Especially if you were standing at the sink and leaning against the cabinet or something. Anytime you could look at the pier or another boat and see that it was moving some...but I didn't get 'sea sick' or even have much vertigo. I just didn't realize it made such a difference until a few minutes ago when it felt like the room was moving! It was a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom, large livingroom, dinningroom and kitchen. All the conveniences of home. We caught a lot of fish, too. Some bass a couple of walleye and a couple of catfish. I caught a HUGE catfish...at least 10 pounds hubby said...and he let it jump back out of the net when he netted it. It broke my line and took my favorite lure with it!!! I have a great tan...I was really white and everybody told me I'd burn but I didn't! I'm really brown now! I weighed when I got home and DIDN'T GAIN ANY!!! What's this about a sexless marriage...who...my viagra man???   If I was physically unable to have sex...he would not leave me! And if he was physically unable to have sex...I wouldn't leave him, either. Sex is just not as important to a relationship when you're in your 50s and have lived together for 37 years! Maybe you should ask that question to some younger couples! But...if they TRULY love each other...I think they'd work the sex thing out somehow! THERE ARE WAYS! Congrats to those of you diligent people who are still losing weight. I'm going to be joining you come Monday morning! It's back to the grinding (diet) stone!!! |
