wickky, I hope you read my post, a few posts back, I am a cancer patient and my plans are to kick cancer's butt. Cancer met it's match when it visited me for the second time. I hope you got good news about your surgical biopsy. Whatever the results your doctors will know what treatment is best for you. I follow my doctors advice, pray a lot and get as many laughs as I can.

Wikky, I just found this thread and wanted to let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. This must be very scary for you. Both my cousin and my sister had Hodgkins and survived it and have been cancer free for many, many years now. My sister has to take a drug for her thyroid (which was damaged by the treatment) for the rest of her life but that, and a scar, are the only side effects that she now has. The doctor used to say that if you were going to have to get cancer that this is the best (if there is such a thing!) kind to get because the cure rate and remission rate are so very high. So, the odds are in your favor! Hang in there and take good care of yourself. Remember that there is a silver lining to every cloud so search for the lessons in this experience and apply them to your life even after you have beat this thing down! Sending good vibes...

I'm so glad it's treatable! Now just research your options, get good doctors and beat it. Remember to take care of yourself. Chemo and radiation suck, they just do I saw my dad go through it, so treat yourself like a baby princess at every opportunity. Don't worry about your 'diet', just eat what you can and try to get as much nutrition as you can to keep yourself strong.

So I came through the surgery fine. I guess you can call it fine. The area of my neck where the tumors are is still swollen up huge, bruised and tender as all get out. OWWWIEE!

The biopsy results were surprising. All of the doctor's I have seen so far were convinced it was Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Turns out is it Hodgkin's Lymphoma, which means it's treatable! and my new motto - If it's treatable, it's beatable.

I am trying my very best to have a positive attitude throughout this ordeal.

saw my primary care doctor and got referred over to Oncology. They are supposed to be calling me to schedule an appointment. Hopefullly that will take place next week.

Once I go to the cancer specialist, they will "stage" the cancer. That means they will do an MRI and a PET (full-body) scan and of course, MORE bloodwork, to determine just how advanced the cancer is. After that is done, treatment begins.

At least the bright-side to all of this is I GET TO SEE MY GRANDBABIES!! Woo-Hoo! I am going to Texas for a few days the end of next week. I told hubby that this is a huge-doses of "Heart medicine" for me :-) and I can't wait!

More to follow after I hear from Oncology.

You hang in there. The cure rate is really, really high (and I mean CURE rate!)..have fun in Texas (the stars at NIGHT, are big and BRIGHT!!! Deep in the HEART of TEXAS...), hug the grandbabies, and please let us know how things are.

i want to wish you the best of luck. stay positive and never let it rule your life. that is what i learned from dealing with my dads cancer for 12 years. ( he passed away just before xmas in '02). that is my best advice for you. and it sounds to me like you are already in that mind set. good luck and stay positive.

I was hoping this is what your biopsy showed.I have know many patients with this same lymphoma.VERY curable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another quick update....

I went to Onocology this morning. MORE tests.... Bloodwork, and a couple of full-body scans to determine what stage the Hodgkins is actually in. I am looking at 4-6 months of chemo, but the doc said I should have great results, and possibly even be cured. NOT remission, but CURED! He cant guarantee anything, but the prognosis is good.

I go back next week on the 27th to get the test results and will start chemo and/or radiation at that time.

I will update again when I know more.
