  • I have been so sick. I have had a sore throat since Sunday-but then I had a major attack of diverticulitis which knocked me for a loop. I am sure I got dehydrated. And now I can't eat so I am so weak. Only stay up for 15 minutes at a time. Going to try to get to doc's for my throat. Had to cancel marriage group. I know what caused the diverticulitis-eating something I shouldn't have and the getting constipation. There is more but it's too much information.
Tammy is in FL-Al is 18 today. And what are you all doing? The ned of the beautiful weather is here for at least a week. Mima
  • Poor Mima ... hope you're feeling better today.

My allergies are going crazy. Plus it has been raining a lot here ... doesn't help the arthritis and fibro any. Hmmm ... rusty years. That's it ... need oiling.

Yep ... I have dark hair. And I think often that I'll have it stripped and let it go solid white. Get tired of coloring it all the time. Everytime I mention it to someone they go balistic on me ... say I wouldn't look right. What is right? I think everybody would get used to it.

I have 2 teenage girls coming to work for me tomorrow. They were whining around the church a couple of weeks ago about needing money for a youth trip. I asked them how much they needed & they said $250. I was busy last Sat. so I told them I wouldn't just give them money but if they would come over this Sat. I would put them to work. I'm going to let them work for 6 hours (if I can stand them for that long.) I'm going to have them clean out my car and hubby's truck, give the dog a bath, clean out the aquarium, clean all the furniture and especially clean my piano room. I need the stairs cleaned down and the front porch and deck furniture cleaned, too. Should be a good day's work for them and then I can take it easy next week. I'm going to give them $10 a hour each. It will help them and me as well. Then, tomorrow night (if I'm able after dealing with them all day) we're supposed to go down to the Boat Dock for fish with a group from church. The Boat Dock has a floating restaurant and excellant catfish. I'll have to be careful what I eat tomorrow. I lost a few pounds last week, don't want to gain those back. I'm finding it harder and harder to lose just a few pounds. And yet it creeps back on so easily.

    Have a great Sat. ladies.
  • Smart lady to hire the girls-except most teenagers need to be watched.
I am up to eating rice-gatorade-rice cakes. Went to doc's and he gave me Ammoxocillin. He didn't check my stomache though. Missing a bd party for Angelina-age 1-today but Auntie's bash is next week. So I will see her then but she doesn't know it.
They did an upper gi and colonoscopy on her yesterday-she is so glad it's over. Only a little stomache irritation was found. Doc wants to know why she's anemic-They take so long to do anything!!!!!!!!
I definitely have more strength-just waiting for the sore throat to get better.
    I lost 4 pounds.
It's been rainy here too but supposed to clear up. zHappy Mother's day. Mima
  • Hey There
Mima- I sure hope you are feeling better. I had swallowing and upper gi this week and now the ibs has kicked in. All that barium I had to drink ,I think. No fun..
Meme- Good for you being able to get girls to help you.. That's what I need to do. The hubby won't let anyone in the house to do it.. We had a guy to do the yard and ofcourse he wasn't happy with the way he did it ,so no more him.You are right ,I always say the rusty years.
    Hello Happy, Tammy.
    HAPPY MOTHERS DAY EVERYONE
    Joanne
  • I didn't ask my husband. I'm the one having to do the cleaning and it's my money I'm paying the girls with so it's actually none of his business. I'm pooped. One girl got here at 8:30 but the other didn't get here until 11. They stayed until 4:30 but didn't work the whole time. I took them to Subway & bought their lunch. Their parents need to teach them some work habits. They talk too much, they text on the phone too much and they goof off too much. I can get 10 times the work done that they got done. I didn't really expect them to get a lot done because they are teenagers but, gee whiz! OH Well. I still got quite a bit of work done today between the three of us and I feel good about helping them out. One of the girl's is my best friend's daughter. Her dad went with us to the Boat Dock to eat tonight and he told me I paid her way too much. He said, I KNOW she didn't work enough to earn that much because I KNOW how she works! Guess he knows his daughter pretty well. LOL Ginger got mad at both of them. They gave her a bath, dryed her with the hair dryer (oooo she hates that) and combed her out (hates that even more). She had been all over them before they did that and when they said give me a kiss she'd lick their cheek, etc. After the bath she wouldn't have anything to do with them. Soooo funny. They'd pick her up and say, give me a kiss and she'd turn her face the other way. I had to laugh at them when they asked me what was wrong with her. They didn't believe me when I told them she was mad at them. She was barely back to 'speaking' when they left this afternoon.
  • That's funny. When Brad hires 2 people, they don't work as hard as one. maybe next time. But at least you got something done. I had 2 girls rake and one did all the work.
My throat is still sore-can't swallow without extreme pain. The antibiotic should have kicked in, Maybe it's a virus and then wouldn't an antibiotic make it worse. My stomache is better and I ate somewhat yesterday but I am losing weight-not a good way to lose it but....
Have a nice Mother's Day. mima
  • Anne, good information about the blood sugars. Thanks for posting it!!

Mima, hope you are feeling better!!!

Meme, I like that about needing oiling! I have felt that way so many times with my knee. Good idea about hiring the girls to help you out. Too bad they didn't get more accomplished for you. That is soooooooo funny about Ginger!

Joanne, you need to feel better too!

I just need to rest! Disney was wonderful, but I am really tired from everything. We got there on Monday morning, and we got started right away. We went back to the hotel about 7:00 because we were tired. We thought we would nap a short while, then head either to the Magic Kingdom or Epcot for the fireworks at 9:00. I woke up about 2:00 AM. The lights were on in the room, and we were both still dressed. I just rolled over and went back to sleep. We finally got up about 8:00 on Tuesday. So much for Monday's fireworks!! I wore my pedometer each day, and 15,000 was the lowest amount of steps for the days we were there. Lots of walking, that's for sure. I have a blister on the ball of my right foot. Aerobics should be interesting in the morning.

We got home about 2:00 this morning. Tim's suitcase didn't make it to our house until 8:15 tonight. It decided to stay in Atlanta a while longer. Then we got stopped by police in a little town coming home. Apparently there was a 25 MPH sign, and Tim was driving about 35. Neither one of us saw it. I mentioned Tim's lost luggage to the officer and that we had just come from the airport. He gave Tim a warning. I think it helped having this old lady with him. lol
  • Hooray for the warning-Disney is sure a busy place. Love to go with Alison cause we get to go to the front of the lines. She and her mom deserve it but we don't=oh well.
Throat still bad-it's been more than a week-def not helped by the antibiotics, What to do????? Going for PT and Massage. Work on Thurs and Friday-really want to make it.
Went to Bobby's for Mother's Day and gf's parents were there plus her br and Sil and Sue Jim and Meranda. Her parents are really nice. BR has a 9 month old baby and he sure got a lot of attention. Mom and Dad bought a place in Brandon. It's hard to believe all the changes in our family.
Jim's job is much more dangerous than I thought. He flies to where the helicopters are broken and fixes them. So he might be in Iraq or Afghanistan at any given moment. He;s leaving SAt for training.I told her she would grow stronger. She would rather have him here.
    Bye for now Mima
  • I over-did myself over the weekend and have paid for it the last couple of days ... as always. Sunday was another busy day. Went to church with my kids (since they won't come to church with me) and they go to the early service. Then we all went to El Tapatio's to eat ... Mexican if you can't guess by the name. Then hubby and I had to go to visit his mom and take her some flowers for Mother's Day. I came home and went to bed about 3:30 and didn't get up until 8. He came in the bedroom about 5:30 and asked me if I was going back to church and I told him, No ... I was pooped. I almost never miss church but there comes a time when I have to rest or else. I have now hit that time.

I'm getting so sick of hearing about, eating with, breathing and living with trailers. Seems that all I do. Phone calls and people coming during the day then hubby come home and that's all he wants to talk about. He answers the customers calls as late as 9 at night and when they want to come at 8 or 8:30 he tells them, ok. But it's not ok with me. We were at him mom's Sun. and had a customer call him and say he was sitting in our driveway so we had to leave. I told him to tell the guy it was Sun. and Mother's Day to boot and he was at him mom's. He wouldn't. I had a talk with him tonight about it and told him there had to be a cut off point. I told him we had already had this conversation a couple of times before but it didn't 'take' and I also told him if he didn't start 'cutting it off' at night and on Sundays we were going to have to get rid of the trailers because this is not the life I want to live. This is not a life at all ... it's all work. He's going to have to tell people NO and MAKE them respect our private time. This is not just a place of business it is also our home and people will just run over you if you don't tell them no.

Tammmy, sounds like you had a great time. I wish we could go somewhere for about a month. We need to but can't get away from here for more than one night. So Sad!!!

Mima, I sure hope you feel better. I don't know what to tell you to do except call the Dr. or go back and tell him what's going on.

HI Joanne and Anne. Have a good Wednesday everyone. I'm going to a luncheon at the hospital ... Daughter is the guest speaker. Thursday I have to pick Ross up at 2 and Jenna at 3. Saturday Garrett has a guitar recital. I'm sure someone will think up something for me to do on Friday before it rolls around.
  • Hey meme-all Brad talks about is his work from morning to night, he gets on the phone late and yak yak yak, He has no boundaries around it, My son will NOT answer the phone at night or on Sunday, That's the way to do it,
I talked to doc and he put me on Cipro. I hope it works-supposed to go to work tomorrow, The prayer group prayed for me so that's good.
Going to get the car serviced-it's far away but our serevice warranty is up so we can go closer next time.
Rested up yet tammy. Hi Joanne and Anne. Mima
  • Mima, when I went to Disney in 2006 I used a wheelchair. They didn't allow us to go to the front of the lines in many areas, but other places we did. I couldn't believe that I was able to do as much as I did this trip. We were on the go constantly! I have a card out for a massage place near here that I had forgotten about. The owner had served on an Emmaus team with me a few years ago. She knows about the fibro, so I plan to give her a try. The little card is for $5.00 off which is a plus. Mima, Tim was on cipro a few years ago. It worked for him.

Meme, I can understand how you need to get some rest and that you can't do everything. I have spent more time in bed this week since we got home. I have only been to 1 class at the Y out of the 4 classes that I should have been to. My dad had a milk delivery business when I was growing up. I can remember my mom having the same conversation with my dad about the calls at night and on Sundays. He didn't want to hurt someone's feelings. There comes a time though when you just have to say enough is enough. You deserve your time away from the business even if it is right there at your home. People should understand that, but they don't. I wish you could get away for a few nights! How was the luncheon, and how was that guest speaker?????

Tim is cooking supper tonight. He starts work at Arby's tomorrow afternoon. It is the same one where he worked during high school. The manager talked to my brother and he is thrilled to have Tim back. He's a good worker.

Tim isn't going to be an RA next year in the dorm. His grades suffered this semester, and we told him that it isn't worth messing up his grades to get his room and board free. We'll swing it somehow. He'll still work part time in the dorm like he did his freshman year and first semester this year. Much less stress involved, that's for sure.

    Hello to all!!
  • The guest speaker was marvelous ... and I'm not a bit preprejudice, of course. I was so proud of her. She started out telling why she became a MT (massage therapist) and LTMT (Licensed Theraputic Massage Therapist). She told them the reason was sitting right there with them then pointed at me and introduced me as her mother. She then told them that when she was a child I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid and OsteoArthritis and as I would go to therapy sessions with different doctors and therapists, I would come home and show her the techniques they used and the different exercise I had to do and get her to help me with them. She said she worked with me and also massaged my muscles until my next appointment and my illness intrigued her so much she decided that is what she wanted to do. She used me for a demonstration, too ... of tense shoulder muscles. Mine are always hard as rocks! I had no idea she was going to do all that. She didn't warn me. I told her afterward the only bad thing was she only did one shoulder ... now she owes me!

It's supposed to rain all day tomorrow. Think I'll just stay in bed all day. Oops, can't ... have to get the kids. Price I have to pay for her business picking up I guess! She got several appointments today after the luncheon. I'm so glad she is finally 'launched'. I was worried for a while there. But now besides having her own place at a new beauty shop in town, she is doing theraputic massage at one of the Chiropractor's in town one day a week and also giving chair massages at one of the factories a half-day every Friday so it looks like she is well on her way to an established business. If she's not careful, she'll get so booked up she won't have time to give her mom a massage!

Mima ... hope the Cipro works for you and you can get some relief.

Hey, Tammy. Believe it or not I remember when you went to Disney and used that wheelchair. Can't believe we've been 'together' that long. Anne and I go waaaaay back. Don't even know how long but a long time. What the heck happened to Candice? We go way back, too. She just disappeared on us. I get an email from her now and then but she hasn't been in here in forever. I'll have to email her and see where she is.

HI Joanne. How's Christie doing with the rash? Ginger is still Ginger. Still her hyper little mean self ... but ya just gotta love her. She doesn't tear up 'much'! HA And she is completely potty trained (99% of the time) Double HA HA! She has this thing about going poop. She doesn't much like to go outside. She'll pee outside all day long but she'll run back inside as fast as she can and get on her paper and go #2. So weird. Also, she doesn't like to go poop if anyone is watching her. So if I happen to be in the bathroom when she needs to go, she'll stop right outside the bathroom door and go. This rarely happes so that's why I said 99% of the time. My kids told me that I've always had weird pets.
  • Isn't that nice about your daughter. It feels so good to be appreciated. My throat is much better so i am going to work-hardest thing is to eat. I have lost almost 5 lbs.
Talked to Auntie-she is feeling better because she is taking Prilosec-her stonmache was not good all day long. PTL. She was telling me that her granson wants to have a party at the house Sunday-little does she know it's for her. I bought a gorgeous Vera Bradley-yallow and black wirh an eyeglass case and change purse. Kids chipping in with me.
Bye for now-gotta drive 50 miles to work. At least they pay for the gas. Rest Tammy.
  • Hey There
Mima- Sounds like you may be feeling better.. 50 miles to work. ? Hope they are paying good..
Meme- I have never had a massage! I feel like I need one.. Christie's rash is gone.. She thinks she owns the block. Barks at everything. She is house broke. We walk 4 times a day. Gives me and her about a hour total sometimes less.
We are having a shower here at my house this sat. for grandsons bride to be.. I never gave a shower. Ofcouse my daughter will be here to help.I made the ring pillow. I put a lot of bead work on it.. It is beautiful even if I did make it.
I have been going for a lot of test lately. I see the dr. next week.. I know he has to do something with my knee. All he wants to do is inject it. It has already been injected several times.
Tammy. Disney can take the starch out of you. I have never been to Epcot. I would like to go there once..
    Hello Happy
    Joanne
  • Meme, I wouldn't expect you to say anything less about the guest speaker!! That is so cool that she talked about you and how you helped her to get started. It does sound like she is on her way to a great career, and I'm sure she'll always find time for you!!! I've wondered about Candice also. That is too funny about Ginger and her potty habits!!!

Mima, losing 5 pounds can be good but only if you are feeling well! Hope you are feeling super soon! Good thing you don't have to pay for the gas to drive 50 miles!! I do feel more rested today so far. I"m sure I can find time for a nap though!! lol

Joanne, enjoy the shower! I'm sure the pillow is beautiful. I have had my knee injected twice over the past couple of years. Some days it feels pretty good, and then I'll have a day when I just want to cry because it hurts so much. Epcot is my favorite of the 4 parks at Walt Disney World. Tim and I spent most of our time there. It's fun, and it's educational. I like the World Showcase at the back of Epcot. There are shops from different countries, and there are restaurants from the various places so you can try a variety of foods. I think it would be well worth the time and money to go there sometime!!

I am making spaghetti for lunch. Tim starts work at Arby's later this afternoon, so we thought we'd have our "big" meal at noon on days when he works. We are hoping that since he is home, we can get bob to eat more regularly. When it's just the 2 of us, Bob doesn't eat much even if I fix a nice meal. I think he is in a depression, but he doesn't think so.
