Fibromyalgia #170
Good morning ladies.
Mima - Things happen in life you have NO control over. You have to let it go. Seems to me, that your tummy problems could be related to stress. You cannot take on the problems of everybody else. Just try to deal with YOU! Tammy - hope things are going well for you and your hubby. I am sure you are happy to have him at home instead of in the hospital. That was a long, tiring drive. Heading out to work this morning. This week, I have been to the dentist. Had my teeth cleaned:carrot:, that ALWAYS feels soooooo good, and had a check up - Look Ma! NO CAVITIES!!! Also, picked up my glasses yesterday. The prescription is a little stronger than it was, so it is taking my eyes a while to adjust. Definitley better today, than yesterday when I got them. I put them on, and almost fell of the chair (when I picked them up). I hope you all have a nice day. Hi Joanne and Meme. |
Hey There
Hello Everybody- Right now I would give a lot to have a closed in area in my yard.. I have to take Christie out on a leach each time.. That takes a big chunck out of my day..She won't do anything for the hubby besides it seems she has decided to just play at times.. Schedules are out the window..
Tops tonight.. My weight just stays the same no matter what I do. Tammy - You are lucky that your hubby feels that he needs to set everything in order for you. Mine will not even consider getting a will done..The best that I can do is get everything in both of our names and the kids as in trust. So far the house is in our names only. He is Greek ,old school, and the thought makes him think he is ready to die if he does anything else.. Ofcourse there have been nights lately when he has had indigestion that he thought he was on the way out..If he would do something besides set in a chair and watch Fox news he probably would feel better.. Mima- Take care of yourself and let the rest take on their own problems. I know it is hard but we need to think of ourselves first...It will work out... Happy- You seem to be doing great... Sometimes I wish I could get out and work.. It isn't easy just being at home and trying to find ways to get through the day..My hubby would never go out of the house if I didn't think up things I need. He won't let me take the car. He thinks no one but him can drive that old 20 yr wreck.. Hello Meme-- Joanne |
I'm new to the fibromyalgia forum, and am also pretty much a shut-in. Lucky for me I have a great hubby who does all the grocery shopping and helps take care of our dogs and house. I worked in the medical field for 25 yrs before having to go on disibility. It's been hard on us financially with me not working, and I really packed on the pounds over the last 10 yrs that I've been home....but I'm finally getting myself more under control and as I'm losing weight, I seem to be able to do a bit more around here. The pain from the fibro is beyond tolerable some days...no pain meds have helped at all. Does anyone have tips for dealing with it?
|
Hi LaBarb, welcome to our little corner of the web.
I have FM and OsteoArthritis, and have also gained weight since I had to quit working. Most of it was gained from being inactive and from medication. The OA was the worst for me. Found and Upper Cervical Chiropractor and have had GREAT results. The OsteoArthritis has improved 90% and the FM has as well. I still have my days and I will NEVER be pain free, but it certainly is liveable. I HATE taking medication. The other thing that has caused me to gain weight is the medication for Atrial Fibrillation. You would think heart meds wouldn't do that, but they do. The Beta Blocker and the med for the Heart Rythum. Anyway, it is always an ongoing battle. Throw in a little age as well and you have the perfect senerio. Feel free to join in. We always love to have more people here. Joanne - Gosh, she can't be outside on her own? You don't have a fence? I am doing pretty darn good, but I do tend to push myself to much, and then I end up in trouble. I LOVE going to work. I wasn't ready to retire when I had to quit working, and I want it to be MY choice, not the choice of this darn body. Mind and body have to come together to gain acceptance, I believe. That would be the day, that hubby told me I couldn't drive the car. I swear I would take it out of spite :dizzy: I hope everybody has a good evening. |
Thanks for the new thread, Anne.
Hi Barb. I have had fibro since I was in my 20's and I am 69. I would suggest you try to nove a bit-even from the chair. Inactivity is so bad for fibro-I can hardly walk when I get out of the car. I did let go-I called Mike yesterday but chatted for a minute only-and Jessica-the problem was there from the beginning. She thinks she needs him too much and he walks all over her. That's what happens when you get rejected from your father. I got busy yesterday and today I am going to Auntie's and i got a good night's sleep. You should be all set with the way you put things in order, Joanne. We had a pole that stuck into the ground with a long run and tied it to Frankie to stay outside. There was a place for him to get shelter. It was so funny, even if it came off, he would stay there. And if his collar pulled off, he would wait for it to be put off. He was a funny dog. We brought back the old flooring and got our money back. And got some gray look likes tile for the bath. Josh should like that. If he moves out, I may move downstairs!! Hmmmm? Friend's taking me to lunch tomorrow. We are getting our check-she said she mailed it but it hasn't been cashed. I don't totally know if I believe her. But I don't care as long as we get the money-that is the first time that happened. I agree about the stress and my stomache. I am good today. I have been eating an apple a day. Mima |
aha! fellow sufferers! Pain meds? Sometimes a dose of elavil does it for me. 10 mgm at night. It makes for its own fog but I can often wake up pain free. The fog goes by about 3 p.m. Some people need more. Can cause an arrythmia so careful.
|
Hellow mfb, welcome to our small group.
Elavil didn't really do anything for me. I was already loopy on 10mg,can't imagine taking more. I would just lay on the couch as I couldn't seem to wake up. Meds affect each of us differently, that is for sure. Feel free to join in! |
Mima - sounds like your apt. is coming along nicely. I can't stand to be in basements, because they ALL smell musty to me. I think I am OVER SENSITIVE to mold, due to the yeast problem.
I am glad you are feeling better today. Stress really does a number on us at times. |
Anne, I agree with you about the dentist! We need to make appointments, and we just haven't done it yet. I don't think Bob is ready to go right now though. I did laugh about your new glasses. I've been in that same situation, and it isn't that much fun.
Joanne, we don't have a fenced in yard either. Kramer is always out on a leash which isn't as easy as just opening the door for him to go in and out. I guess I should feel glad that Bob wants to have all of this taken care of. I know when his parents passed away, there was so much to do, and his brothers were no help. It was all us. He keeps remembering that. Welcome to the group Barb!! Your weight loss is fantastic! What are you doing to lose?? Also, welcome to MFB!! I was diagnosed in Aug. 3 years ago with fibro and osteoarthritis. Up until the spring of 2004, I had some knee pain and lower back pain which we now know is the arthritis. I had no fibro issues until I fell on the ice going into the school where I taught. Since I've retired, I've rarely had to take any pain meds. The last few weeks my husband was in the hospital and now recuperating at home. I've taken more medicine these few weeks than I have since I retired. Can anyone say stress??? I'm back to taking 2 relafen every morning. I have taken flexeril at night several times. There have been a couple of days where it hurt so bad, I broke down and took vicodin. I honestly think that I was getting more rest when Bob was in the hospital. Since he's home, I still have laundry to do of course, but now there is more. I am cooking, and when I was here by myself, I was just grabbing things. My chiro talked today about how tight my middle back was today and it hasn't been at all. She feels like it's stress. We sat and talked a little bit about everything that's going on, and of course, I cried. Tomorrow I'm taking the dog to the doggy hotel, Bob will be at home, and I'm going to Muncie for family weekend. I'll go to the football game, and then Tim and I will get together afterwards for dinner. One of Bob's friends is planning to come and spend part of that time with him so I don't have to feel like I have to rush back. Bob is capable of doing more than he was, BUT I don't want him getting totally worn out more than he is. I feel really guilty because there were a few times that I almost wished he was still at the hospital! I know things will keep getting better, and it will be easier when he isn't on the oxygen. Thanks for letting me vent a little ladies! |
Things will settle in eventually, Tammy-still praying. Getting a break will help.
Couples group was great-we have a new book and we have been talking about forgiveness. Alison is going to Homecoming tonight-can't wait to see pics. GF's are taking me to lunch. Barb-there is a reason you feel good after a good night's sleep-lack of deep sleep is one of the major causes of fibro. I actually take 3 meds now-trazedone, immipramine, and tylenol pm. That sounds terrible, doesn't it/ But I do slleep well. Walking also helps. Go to a rheumotologist-they are more up on fibro. Of course, they are pushing meds. I take Tolmetin for pain-it just keeps it manageable-in the background. Wow-we got home in time to see the Red Sox win the division and pop the champagne all over the place. 11 games to win the series!!!! Wow- I just saw you live in France, Barb. My grandmother's family came form there. In the 1800's. Probably my grandfather's also but I have only traced them to Canada. I have been to France. It's gorgeous this weekend. Fall is here. We still have no heat. But the apt is getting done. Mima |
Today really helped me to get away for a while. Tim and I had a nice visit. Bob did fine without me being here. He did a load of laundry, and he emptied the dishwasher while I was gone. He said it's time to get up off his butt and do some things. He just can't overdo it. Got a paper from the insurance company today, that they aren't going to pay for the last 4 days he was in the hospital. Ummmm, couldn't they have contacted us when he was there so the social worker could have talked to them about why he was in those 4 days. I am not really happy with them right now.
Today was an absolutely beautiful day for the football game. I had on a t-shirt and capris. Hope everyone is having a good weekend. |
Yes it was beautiful. One of my friend's forgot about lunch and took off for the day-we have to forgive each other-she is under a lot of stress.
Alison did get her hair done-at least cut-after all that and no one said anything. PTL. I am so wheezy-and there is so much dust in the house. Hope I am ok. Brieanna will be baptized today. I got a bill and a letter from the eye doc-said I did not have preapproval. No one said for me to get it. Phone calls!!!!!!!!!!!! I am glad Bob is doing well. I will let you know when Al's pictures are up. Mima |
Hey There
Welcome LoBarb and MFB-- Our group is small but we are always here for each other. Come on back and tell us something of yourselves..
Tammy- It is always nice when the hubby is willing to help in the house.Mine will wach a dish sometimes. That is his limit..When we were first married and I was about 8+ months pregnant he helped me more. His brother came by one day when he was scrubbing the floor in the Kitchen.. He made fun of him for helping me.. That ended it..He is good at telling me how to do things !!!Insurence is really not there to help in a lot of cases..I would be yelling in your case.. Mima- Why didn't the eye doctor just call and get the approvale?I bet it was one of their office clerks with the brains of a doornob..These Dr.s hire the ones that they can get the cheapest..The weather here is cooler, but, still hot, It was 90 yesterday.. Happy- My stress level has been really high. I get Bloodwork tomorrow.. I bet my sugar is high..I am going to have to watch my diet better..I do pretty good until I spot the icecream in the fridg.. Hello Meme... Have a Great Weekend..Joanne |
Don't you buy the no sugar added , Joanne. Especially Blue Bunny. That's what Brad eats. I am like you-I love ice cream but it does a number on me/We saw Brieanne being baptized-Brad started crying so I did too. 2 of her friends were there. Friday we will all go to Springfield for Sherrill's bd. I bought her 2 joke books-she sure needs that. She is getting stronger.
Saw pics of Alison. She looked nice. Glitzy earrings. She was so excited. Bye for now. Hi all. Mima Hiho-and it's off to work I go-my turn to drive. Leaving here at 7. |
Hey There
Mima- You are probably right. I usually buy lite.. I will compare labels next time I go to buy icecream..The cal. may be the same
It looks like rain and then it goes away.. It seems colds are going around here in our area.. Our is son sick with one.. I hope we don't get it. I try to press the point of getting the flu shot, but, you know they don't want to hear any advice..I say it anyhow.. All they have to do is plug their ears.. I got hardly any sleep last night.. I hope tonight is better. I take tylenol pm and darvocet100 usually. I have been trying not to take the darvocet and take advil later in the night if I need it. Didn't work last night. Tammy- Hopefully your hubby will continue to be ok alone sometimes so you can get out and do the things you like.. Hello Happy and Meme...Joanne |
Hi, thanks to everyone for your best wishes. The diet I'm on is light breakfast of whole grains and lean cuisine for lunch and dinner. It works for me, anyway. Besides the FM, I have OA of my left knee, and PPS (post-polio syndrome). I had polio at 2 1/2 and am now very weak from it...and it has it's own pain to deal with...but I try and move around as best I can.
|
Mima, that's too bad that your friend forgot about your lunch! I wouldn't have even thought to get preapproval for an eye doctor. That's great about Brieanne being baptized. I would have cried too!
Joanne, I think you should have smacked your BIL many years ago for making fun of your hubby when he was helping to clean. I have been eating Great Value brand sugar free, fat free ice cream. I have butter pecan right now. It isn't as good as the real stuff, but it's not bad either!! Bob gets a flu shot every year. Last year was my first time, and I got really sick the week after I received it. Not sure if I'll get it again or not. Barb, it doesn't sound like you are getting very many calories per day with what you wrote. Don't go too low, ok?? Bob called the case management lady at the insurance company yesterday about them not paying for the last 4 days. She said that since the doctors and the hospital are all in our network, WE won't owe a thing. They will have to cover the costs! We were so relieved! He has an appointment with one of the specialists this morning. We're hoping that he'll take him off some of the diuretics. He is down to 166 pounds (usually 185-190). I know they had to get rid of the fluids when he was up to 240, but I think they can be cut back now. Also hoping they cut him back on the oxygen he is using. Hope you are all doing well. I've been doing ok on the food and water, but I'm not losing any more. |
Hey There
Tammy- Believe me the BIL got his. He married a girl 20 years younger. She was a real whip. She had him doing everything and after 17 years she started running around on him with any male she could find. She even brought them home after he was in bed.He ended up with brain cancer and died in hospice. She ended up married to one she found in therepy . We haven't heard from her in years, don't want to either.Their son married a nice girl and has 2 kids. He never went to college because the parents wouldn't pay for it. He did well though and is a manager at a winn dixie grocery market.Glad you got your med bills taken care of.. We don't need a referall for eyes but have to use dr.s in system.
Today is going to be busy.. Going to pick up meds at W/M and do some shopping... It rained a little last night. Not heavy or much.. Hello everybody..Joanne |
http://photos.imageevent.com/happyca...20morning2.jpg
Good morning to you. Today I have started, yet AGAIN! this task of cutting back. Boy, it is hard slogging because it seems it is so easy to gain it all back. Much easier than trying to lose it! I am increasing the fiber. I eat quite a lot of fiber but am going to try to get between 35-30 grms. a day. Made a good start this morning, with Sunny Boy Cereal (9 grms) and a slice of sprouted wheat bread (5) and a Banana (at least 1 grm Iwould think). That's almost half of my days supply. Fiber is supposed to keep you filled up, so we shall see. Too much, and you had better watch out, or at least make sure a bathroom is near :lol I can't tolerate Bran, as it gets the IBS stirred up. I don't need to work until Friday, so I am quite happy about that. I worked yesterday, and I was soooooo tired I could hardly think. I will see if I can do my job with eyes closed!! Hope I didn't make any mistakes, but time will tell. I need some time to just relax and not do too much. Last week, I washed the walls in both bathrooms and gave them a Fall Cleaning. Now that is done and they look (or maybe it is just me, and they FEEL) so clean. Next I want to do my kitchen, but it will have to wait a day or two. We were in Edmonton on the weekend. It was gsons birthday and he turned 9. Had a nice, noisy 9yr old birthday party - Harry Potter theme. Little Meela, seemed to grow in the 2 weeks since I last saw her. Her hair has really grown. She is also changing from a baby to a little girl. So cute she is. I wanted to get pictures, but left my camera at home. Ashley got her hair cut shorter - not short. It looks cute on her. She loves to do her own hair and has since she was 5 or 6. She is heading for 10 in the Spring. I don't know where all the time goes, but it sure goes fast. Tammy - I hope that your hubby can get back to normal soon, but I suppose it takes time. He was very ill. Joanne - sounds like that SIL was kind of a nut case. LaBard - do you supplement that with fresh veggies and fruit of just eat that? Whatever, as long as it falls off :lol Mima - have fun at work. |
Joanne, it really does sound like the BIL got his! Wow! The son being a manager of a winn-dixie sounds like a pretty good position. I have been to Wal Mart so much since Bob has been home. He'll mention something that sounds good, so I go get it hoping that he'll eat and put some weight back on. He is so thin. He is drinking 1 or 2 Ensures a day plus the food he is eating.
Anne, I need to remember that just because I'm trying to get Bob to eat, I need to keep watching!! Remind me of that please!! I should check out how much fiber I eat in a day. I think I do ok, but not great. Glad you don't have to work until Friday. Let's meet and go shopping!! i would have enjoyed the b-day party! I like Harry Potter! Today at Bob's appointment, the doctor was aware of the the insurance situation because he had also received a letter. As long as they get things taken care of and it doesn't hurt us, just do it! Bob is now off of oxygen! He is thrilled!! He isn't tripping over the tube anymore, and Kramer isn't getting caught up in it. Bob went to physical therapy this afternoon. He was tired when he finished, and tonight he is a little sore. He goes again on Thurs. Next week he'll go 3 times. Tim might come home after the football game on Sat. He is trying to get someone to switch work schedules with him so he can. It's going to be a surprise for Bob if I can keep my mouth shut!!! lol I'm going to the game, and my nephew is going along and using Bob's ticket. Tomorrow is the soup kitchen and another chiro appointment. |
Good morning
Only working til noon -gotta get home and get my tummy back in order althought I have been pretty good. Nicethat Bob is coming along!! You can see Alison's pics on www.jcarville.blogspot.com Bye for now-gotta pack up. Mima

Hey There
Tammy- Did you say that your hubby was diabetic? Unless they have changed it ,I think insure has a lot of sugar in it..
I keep watching what I eat but still the weight stays the same. I eat a lot of fiber..The B/R is the most used room in this house..I did find that no added sugar ice cream has 4% sugar and that lite has 14%.. that is quiet a difference. Happy- Yes the sil was a nut case.. I had to have her baker acted once when she was at her worse. We went to see about the BIL and found a mess. We brought them both back to Tarpon and I had her taken the next day..It didn't do a bit of good.. Hello Mima, Meme Joanne |
Joanne, he is diabetic, but right now the doctor isn't worried about that. His readings in the morning have been less than 100, and 2 hours after eating they have been below 140. The ensure does have sugar/carbs in it, but for right now he needs to get some weight back on and his strength built up. I know that the therapy will help.
I'm not losing either. It doesn't seem to matter what or how much I eat. I stay the same. I guess that's better than gaining, right? The Great Value brand of the no added sugar and fat free ice cream really isn't that bad. It's nice because I don't feel guilty if I eat some of it. We didn't have many for lunch at the soup kitchen today. It looked like it was going to storm, so I'm sure that kept some away. Tomorrow we meet with the liver specialist. Bob has lots of questions for him that he keeps thinking of since he's been home. Hope he gets some answers even if it isn't what he wants to hear. He knows he can never have alcohol again, so that won't be a question. |
I hop you have a productive doctor's appt.
Yeah for the Red Sox winning their first game!!! Gotta figure out shopping-guess I will have to braek down and go but we need so much stuff I won't be able to push the carriage. ??? Auntie fell against the table-she's hurting-hope she didn't break anything-she has mild osteoporosis. Bobby wants to come to FL-I told him to come at Christmas because he is alone when he is here. He is so easy. Now to find a reasonably priced ticket. Suzanne will be with her bf-she can always get a ticket last minute. those 2 are getting close after all those years of fighting!!! He has helped her out so many times. I am going to see Signature Sound tonight!!! Mima |
His appt. was good. The diuretics have been reduced by half, so maybe he'll stop losing weight. He hasn't been real hungry, and he has to eat. He also isn't sleeping at night. He falls asleep during the day, and then he can't sleep at night. The doctor on Tuesday said that's ok. I don't think so, but who am I?
He did more at therapy yesterday, and today he is really worn out. He did say a while ago that he'd like to order a pizza for supper. Sounds good and easy to me! Hope everyone has had a good week! |
It takes time for things to go back to a good level. We had a lot of ups and downs after Brad's heart surgery. Esp when his pressure was so low he almost passed out in doc's office. They gave the same med to everyone and Brad's pressure is low anyways-another adjustment. One day at a time, Tammy,
Well the trip yesterday to see Sherrill was a hoot. We had fun esp since Brad wouldn't listen to the gps and we took so much lomger to get to the restaurant before we went to see Sherrill. Then the gps had the wrong address? to go to the rehab. I was squished in the back because Brieanna is big. Good thing Paula and I are not, Well-she was happy to see us but she had to go back on the trach to breathe and was having a hard time. And she cried but I guess I would if it was my bd and I was flat on my back-Brie tries so much to encourage her. Paula is going to try again to see her moved closer. Her progress is limited. Well-grocery shopping this am, We are into the playoffs-we watched the Yankees get beat by the Indians and then the Red Sox won!!! Bye for now Mima and hi to all and have a good weekend. |
Tammy - could you send me some of those pills that make you skinny??? :lol the water pills make heart go into Atrial Fibrillation, so I can't take them. Hope that your hubby starts to get an appetite soom.
Glad you can order pizza. I think you deserve a break. Mima - Could just see you scrunched in the back seat. No so comfortable. This is Thanksgiving weekend in Canada. My daughter, SIL and Ashley will be coming today. My son has taken a job out of town, so they won't be coming. My DIL will be going to her Mom's so she won't be alone. Having a bit of a FM flare. Pain and Fatigue. I think it has to do with the season change. BTW, SNOW is getting closer to you! We had snow here yesterday morning. Just a sciff, stuck on the cars and trees, but not the ground. Hope you all have a great day. |
Snow-we have to get out of here-Brad has all the little jobs to do=I am going to help some. I washed the outside windows but will have to do them over. If push gets to shove, I will ask Bobby to help. maybe Brett, We can hire Billy to clean. My turn to think one day at a time.
We watched Ladies in Lavender-an English comedy. Brad has to get checked on Tues for a spot on his retina-hope its nothing. I will get a rubber piece replaced on our car which is next door to the doc's. We are watching a course on ALPHA narrated by a person from England which is so good and he has a great sense of humor. Jessica is 2 cm dilated-yikes. Her dad's bd is Wed-wouldn't that be funny!/ Mima |
Mima, I've heard about so many people ending up in the wrong places with the GPS! I think I'll just keep trusting my maps. lol When do you head south? We'll be heading for Georgia toward the end of January, be there for the month of February, and then back home the beginning of March sometime. That would be funny if the baby was born on his b-day!! Let us know what Brad finds out about the retina.
Anne, I told Bob that since he wasn't going to be taking as many pills, that I'd just use them to see if I could lose a few pounds. He just rolled his eyes at me. Sure is a thought though!! The pizza was yummy. We ordered a 9 inch one, and we had some left over. There was a time when we each could have eaten a 9 inch one by ourselves, but those days are gone thank goodness. Happy Thanksgiving!!! I hope you and your family had a wonderful time. I really wasn't ready to hear/read the word snow! Oh my!! It was 90+ at the football game on Saturday. My face is still a bit pink. Tim switched work shifts so he didn't have to work Sat. night. He came home and surprised Bob. He had talked to him a couple times on the phone, but they hadn't seen each other since the weekend Bob came home from the hospital. Tim couldn't believe how thin he is. Bob is 10 pounds less than Tim. Bob = 160 and 6'3". Tim = 170 and 5'10". I went to a prayer meeting that night, and when I came home I smelled popcorn. Tim had made some and he also gave Bob a couple of mini-candy bars to eat with it. He said he was trying to help him gain a few pounds. I've been keeping track of his calories, and he has been eating between 2,000 and 2,500 for the past 5 days. We went to church yesterday morning, but we had to leave part way through the service. I thought it might be too much for him with the ride, and I guess I was right. The pastor is coming up on Thursday for a visit. Chiro this morning, Bob has PT this afternoon, water aerobics tonight. Our calendar is a mess for this week! Too much going on. |
Sounds like you guys are really taking care of yourselves.
It sure sounds like Bob has been making some good changes. My br has gout-he has to stop drinking beer for now-seems he is always getting something related to beer. He doesn't drink that much anymore-he is diabetic. But what a great guy he is. I went ballistic yesterday-Brad's gd was here in her company truck and her 4 almost 5 year old was in the front seat where the air bag is. He even muttered something about the danger. I hope she finds a way to shut off that airbag. In my older age, I really get upset when I see these young parents do something dangerous!!! Wow for the Red Sox. I was hoping the Yankees would get swept too but they are still alive. I am going to try to help Brad a little today-he has to work. Happy thanksgiving, Anne. Mima Ps-second week in November. Tenant is moving in the first-that is the important deadline. After that-it's finish Brad's work. I can pack while I sleep-it's a no=brainer. |
Bob just left for the doctor. I called and got him an appt with our family doctor here in town this morning. He is not sleeping, he itches constantly, and he is still losing weight. I had to stay here because the people are supposed to come and pick up all of the oxygen stuff, and they weren't sure when they would get here.
I can understand about you going ballistic! That is just too dangerous. I haven't been paying any attention to world series stuff at all. really had no clue who was in the running for it. Packing while you sleep would be interesting to see!!! Hope everyone is doing ok!! |
Hey There
Tammy- I hope the doctors can find a way to help your hubby.. Sounds like he may be allergic to some meds..Isn't it strange how you retired and then your hubby gets sick and you are there to take care of him. God must have a plan..
We went to Dr. yesterday for a 3 month checkup... My hubby is fine just has to change the times he takes his meds.. The dr. tried to tell me I am depressed when I told him about some small problem. He wanted to put me on medication. I told him I wasn't depressed and I wasn't taking any pills for it..Why is it when they don't know the answers that is the first thing they want to do? Dope us up because we are getting older?I told him there were other methods...My sugar, colesterol, trig.and everything else is up ,guess I will have to stop eating icecream. Mima- It is still hot down here.. I sure hope we have a cool winter..The weather men are saying it will be better the end of the week.. Happy Thansgiving ,Happy.. Today is our sons 49th B/D. We sent him a card and gift. We plan to see him this weekend..We will call him tonight.. I used to make a cake and cook a B/D dinner for him. Now his wife can do that.. Hope she does .. Joanne |
Joanne, the doctor prescribed a medicine that will help with the itching plus help him sleep. They are pretty sure the itching is coming from the liver damage. The doctor also said that I'm doing everything right when it comes to planning meals and getting him to eat. He also said he can have more of the Ensures each day to help out.
Depression. I have to agree with you. Bob's doctor asked him more than once yesterday about depression. He told the dr. that when he was at the hospital he was depressed, but he is doing much better at home. Sorry about the test results being up for you. Giving up ice cream will be hard. Happy b-day to your son!! Hope his wife made a cake and a nice dinner for him. I'm leaving in about 15 minutes to volunteer at the Christian radio station for a couple hours. Doing the same thing tomorrow and Friday. I'm sure it will be fun, but I am also sure I could sleep some more. When I come home from there, I need to get changed and go to a funeral. Brother of a good friend found out 6 weeks ago he had cancer. The only reason he even went to the doctor was for a back ache. He went very fast. |
Sounds like pancreatic cancer-you go really fast when you get that.
Going to Auntie's-Brad went to eye doc's because of a spot on his retina-everything ok-I straightened out that insurance stuff. I will only paint a little this morning-then go to chiro's to straighten out any damage. ha!!!!! Joanne, sugar affects your triglycerides and cholesterol. Sorry about that bad news. It's tough to have to change yor diet!! My stomache is doing pretty well-I have been eating a Cortland apple every day-almost as good as ice cream. Maybe that apple a day makes sense. I am also putting more things in my diet. Jessica didn't go to doc's yesterday-talk about depression-she has not had her script renewed-they are afraid of postpartum depression. talk about things you can't control. I keep telling her. I should talk to her bf. Bye for now Mima |
Hi everybody.
Mima - glad your tummy is behaving. An Apple A Day, Keeps the Dr. Away. The pectin is supposed to be good at stopping bowel ailments. Hope it continues to do so. Gosh, time will go fast now, and in no time you will be back in Florida. Glad there was nothing wrong with Brad's eye. It seems the older you get, the more things pop up. Tammy - glad to hear that your hubby is doing not too badly. That must be good news for you. Some cancers are soooo fast. That Pancreatic Cancer is what my FIL had, and he only lasted such a little while. He did turn yellow though, and they thought at first, it could be his Gallbladder. NOT. Glad you are able to get out and do something for yourself. Sounds like you are enjoying working at the radio station. Joanne - Personally, I think, if you are going to eat ice cream, it is best to eat the real stuff, fat and all. There are too many chemicals in the other stuff and they DO affect us, one way or another. My Mom was diabetic, and she could have 1/2 c ice cream a couple times a week, without it affecting her. Dieting doesn't seem that hard in theory or on paper, but doing it seems impossible. I guess you just have to completely change your lifestyle and your thought processes to make it happen. I have that darn yeast problem back again. It seems like NOTHING wants to get rid of it permanently. Next, I will have liver problems, because of the "cure" - DIFLUCAN! It doesn't seem to matter whether I eat sugar or just eat veggies and meat, with a bit of fruit. It still flares up. I will probably make my way to the chiro today. Pain is everywhere, although he can only do so much. Feels like all the muscles are on the verge of going into spasms. Hope you all have a nice day. |

Hi guys. Doesn't bifidus help with that yeast. Go to the health food store and talk to them. They have healthy stuff. Not cheap but worth it.
Good news that Brad got some heat upstairs-bad news is that when it blows air it affects my allergies and sounds like an oncoming train-he will make some adjustments/ I acn't even think about Fl because of all the work left to do. Today, I can clean out the bathroom and shut the door so it will stay that way. We are going to couples group tonight-and I want to watch the Playoffs. Got a haircut-can't wait til Monday til i get a massage. Hope you are better soon, Anne. And Tammy-what a neat thing to work at a Christian radio Staion. Best to Bob. Mima |
Hey There
Happy- I think that the best thing I can do is stop buying icecream.. Then I won't eat it..We have a little left in freezer and when that is gone I told hubby that is it..I spent a lot of time checking cereals in store. They all have sugar.. Even oatmeal has 1 gram..1 gram =500mgm. That can't be helped unless I go to healthfood store and get steel cut oatmeal.. I am not going to spend nearly an hour cooking oatmeal in the am.
Mima- I spent a very uncomfortable night last night.. Sleep was hard to find.. I have to change the way I am doing things, diet ,exercise,etc..I guess I have to say this is a new day.. You will always find things that have to be done.. Just close the door and come on down to Fl. It will be there when you get back.. Tammy- Just keep doing what you are doing.Everything will work out in the end... I think there are times when we all get depressed.. I just tell myself I don't have time for it. I know too much about the effects of depression meds. I always have said there are other ways to deal with it..I guess there are women who would grab at them and go around in a fog.. Not me.. I have to have clear sight and thinking.. Now ,I am off to Sams.. I buy bulk what I can. It saves money in the long run..I don't buy dairy there. We don't use it fast enough. Have a good weekend everybody. Hello Meme...Come on back...Joanne |
Anne, I agree about diets looking so easy on paper. I wish it was so easy. It has taken me since mid-July to drop 15 pounds that shows on my tracker. I'm not complaining that it is gone, but it sure takes a while!!! I'm down 45 pounds from what I was about 5 years ago, so I am moving in the right direction. Still seems like a long way to go though. That dumb yeast problem has to go!!! Tell it to go away!!!!!! How was the chiro appt? Mine did a re-evaluation the other day. I have increased my range of motion quite a bit. I can tell a difference at water aerobics! Apparently the chiro is working!! LOL to the guy knocking!!!
Mima, I'm glad you mentioned hair cut!!! I keep forgetting to call. I just called, and there is no answer. I'll try again in a little while. I'm getting a bit shaggy and very gray roots are showing. Another woman was working her first pledge drive too at the station. We were there from 6-8 AM Wed, Thurs, and today. Yesterday she asked who my husband was. I told her, and she started getting tears and cried out, "We're related!" Her mother and Bob are first cousins. I hadn't seen her in several years. It was just so neat! It's amazing that we had never volunteered before, and for both of us to volunteer and be working the same shift was just too wonderful to believe! Everyone at the station was amazed and cheering for us as we hugged and cried. She has had some rough times, and I think she is getting her life together. Her aunt has helped her through lots of issues with her mother. Joanne, I had been on a depression med for several years. The doctor had tried to wean me off different times during the summers, but I always ended up back on it, but not a high dosage like when I started. In July, I started weaning myself off of it. Didn't talk to the doctor about it. I haven't taken any since the beginning of August. I think I'm going to be ok!! I didn't have to go back on it with all of the problems with Bob, so I think that is saying something!!! I have never been to Sam's. Maybe if there was one closer I might, but I don't want to drive an hour or more to go there. Off to a football game tomorrow with another nephew. We'll get together with Tim afterwards for supper. SHould be fun. Oh, our pastor came up yesterday afternoon and spent about 2 hours visiting with Bob and me. It was a nice visit, and he was pretty blunt with Bob about some things. His dad, brother, and sister were all alcoholics, so he just let it rip so to speak. I know he'll be back to talk one on one with Bob, and he has offered to go to a counseling thing with him to get him started. Have a great weekend!! Meme, where are you??? |
What a great story about Bob'ss cousin. And yeah for the Pastor. One thing that people don't get is that you have to be tough with alcoholics. My oldest son had his BIL living with him and thought he could talk his way into helping him. I kept saying AA . Now he is living with someone else and had to detox last week. My brother is still drinking. I firmly believe they can't do it alone-need a power greater than themseves-which I believe is God. I think bob will do fine because he alraedy has that spiritual part-I think.
Yeah for the Sox-we were at couples Bible study but i wanted to be watching the game!!!!! We can't leave everything because the apt is not done and the tenant is moving in 11/1 or abouts. And Brad has some work to finish to get the rest of our money. And I am painting but I don't overdue it. Joanne-Walmart has oatmeal that is sugar free. Pastor needs someone to host the next couple's group and no one came forth. I told them about the heating situation but if no one volunteers, I will have it but keep it simple.By then , I will need Chelsea to dust. Have a good weekend. Mima |
