Mima, just keep that brother of yours in prayer!! Maybe someday!! I agree with Joanne about dumping the girlfriend.

Joanne, I remember when you used to do so much walking. I'm 52, and there are days I don't even want to move let alone walk.

Meme, good luck on the diet. Since I went to my doctor in April, I have taken the attitude that I don't care anymore. When he started in on me about diabetes and choleterol (both readings were better) , my weight (which was down), my BP (also down), and didn't even mention the arthrits or fibro, I was so depressed. I knew that I was doing better, but according to him, I'm a failure.

We've had rain off and on the past few days. Lots of lightning with it which means lots of fires. A man and his 2 children were hit by lightning on Sat. I saw where they were all released from the hospital today.

I used to drink when I was in college and right after. Never really overdid it. I have a glass of wine every now and then now, but I'm happier with my Diet Pepsi. Bob has been quite a drinker his whole life, but he has really changed because of some health issues. I prayed that he would stop, and I guess the prayer was answered with liver problems. Be careful what you pray for, right??

A beautiful day here. Sunny, breezy, about 70. Kramer is napping, and I have a couple yellow finches at my bird feeder.

Default Hey There

Tammy - I did 3 miles yesterday and today. I split it up half in morning and pm. I don't think Christie is able to do more than that. She is laying down about 2 blocks from home. I just say come on just a little more. I don't want to have to carry her.
I used to drink once in a while and at parties. It never agreed with me. I don't touch anything stronger than diet coke or water now..Wine always gave me a headache..Beer made me fat and anything stronger made me sick. I have one sister who drinks too much wine. I don't enjoy being around her when she drinks. She isn't the most pleasant person when she isn't drinking..
It is really hot and humid here now. They are predicting rain for Thursday.. Cross your fingers.
Mima- I don't think we can do anythig with family members unless they really want to help themselves..I have read that alcholism is a dx. that is passed on in families.. Thank God my son say the light..I know that God brought his wife into his life to save him..We all tell her God sent her to him.
OK ,I will go wake up the hubby and tell him to go to bed. Fox news has put him to sleep....Joanne

Joanne, I am so proud of you for getting in 3 miles!!!!! Way to go!!! You sound like me with Kramer. If I plan to go any distance at all, I leave him at home. 15 pounds gets heavy to carry very far. lol

I don't think Tim will drink because he has been around Bob on some pretty bad days. He sees what it can do to a person. He has seem me have a glass of wine, and he knows that I don't overdo. Bob's parents used to tell me that I was Bob's saviour, but I sure didn't help him stop the drinking all these years.

I've had the windows opened most of the day, and I've been shutting them one at a time. It really is quite cool in here now. Of course, I'm sitting here with shorts and a t-shirt on. Bob has on jeans and a sweatshirt.

I'm meeting some teachers for our monthly get-together tomorrow. It is nice seeing them, and I know next year when school starts the other retiree and I will be glad to see those who are still teaching.

Good morning-be careful what you ask for-I called my doc to get a script for the pain in my stomache , he gave me one and then said I needed another colonoscopy. I hate those but about now I am willimg to go through it in hopes that they can do something. My younger brother-yup-the one in jail-had the surgery done last year. It was elective. He recovered quickly.
I doubt he will dump the gf-they have been together for years. She is frantacally trying to get someone to help him get his license back. She has liver damage already. And I am sure brain damage. And I have to call her to find out where he is. We prayed last night at prayer meeting.
It's only going to be 70 today-what storms we had yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That's great about walking, Joanne. Dogs give you incentive, although Cassidy used to walk with me and then wander off, then run to catch up-even when he was 17. Too funny.
My new Avon lady is coming this morning. She sounds nice. Her parents go to N. Fort Myers for the winter.
Brad is thinking he doesn't need to do this installations anymore. I totally agree. He didn't make the money he should have on the one he is finishing he-underestimated. It makes me crazy!! I will just keep telling him the facts. I should also put the hours down. When he does emergency work-he makes a bundle.
Hey meme-did you get some rain. Joanne-it rained less than an inch in Ft Myers. The guy next door put his humidity gauge in our house and it was 40%.I guess the electric bill was right. I went online and ordered a hygrometer-that tells the humidity and had it sent to him to put in our house. I also ordered a bracelet for Jessica with beautician pics on a stretch bracelet. E-bay!!
Bye for now Mima.

That's too bad about Brad underestimating the cost. Hope things go better the next time.

We had a great time at lunch today. There were 6 of us this trip, so I thought that was pretty good out of the 10 that were invited. I think they are going to try to get together the end of June when I'm on vacation. I have dates written in my calendar for July when everyone is on vacation, so hopefully we'll have a July date also.

Not much to say, except I think I'm ready to go to bed. Long day.

I used to go out with a bunch of teachers every month-now they go out at lunch! Ha! I live far away now-I will have to get in touch so I can see them.
I have a consuktation with gastro guy on the 21st and probably the colonoscopy a week later. I was really getting anxious thinking ahead so I keep reading Matthew 6 25-34. Seel ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be provided unto you. Therefore, don't worry about tomorrow because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
I am hardly ever in the day-I need to get this in my head. Brad is going to the podiatrist to see about his hammer toes. Surgery???
I called my brother's gf and evrytime she started whining, I said things like-you need to go to AA-nothing will change unless you change-insanity is going the same thing over and over and expecting different results. That courage was not from me. I have his address so I can ssend him a book-The New Testament relating to AA.
I am alsmost done with Showdown. It definitley got better.
have a great THURSDAY!!!! Mima

Good morning everybody.

Got back after a 26 hour trip! I was so tired yesterday, but feel pretty good this morning. I was awake very early however, so I might need an afternoon nap.

It sounds like you have all been feeling not too badly. Meme, good luck on your diet. I will be joining you as well. I let it go while I was on holiday, but need to get back to structured eating. The Danes eat breakfast, coffee, lunch, coffee, dinner, coffee. They are not an overweight people, so it must work. I will be trying this. Ashley told me she learned something in Denmark, and that is, you have to eat every TWO hours! It is small meals with snacks in between. Keeps your sugar levels even. Also, they don't seem to worry about sugar and full fats.

Drinking seems to be the topic the past few days. I am like Joanne. When I drink wine, I get a headache, beer bloats me and I don't care for hard liquor, so my drinking is maybe a couple of Irish Coffees at Christmas time. Hubby doesn't drink much either, but it sure doesn't affect him like it does me. Neither of my parents were drinkers either, but my brother is an alcholic and I absolutely hate being around him when he is drinking.

Our holiday was great. I have pictures and I will tell you all about it next week. It will take that long to get the pictures downloaded into my computer

I hope you all have a nice day.

Oh, Anne, good that you are back safe and sound after having a good time.
Went to 2 Bible studies yesterday. Heard a woman who was talking about her significant other? being in jail after violating his probation. I was feeling very bad about her situation-then , when I was talking to Pastor's wife privately last night, found out that she was trying to help this person-he was not her husband=I feel bad for her in a different way now, that she might be an enabler, affected by someone's drinking.
Anyway, marriage was about communication-love those people. Pastor told me I will be going before the board tomorrow about my membership. Hope I don't get intimidated. I didn't have to do this in FL-they have much different ways because they are a big church.
They are having Relay for Life and thunderstorms are expected. Brad's sister has a lot to do with the orgainization of it.
Wow, angela just called me and her grandmother is dying of cancer. Schlerosis -etc-she just happened to mention that she liked screwdrivers. Not the tools-it's everywhere.
Bye for now, Mima

Mima, just keep on reading to help you stay calm about everything!! I am just now getting involved with Relay for Life here in town. I helped out at a craft show by selling cookbooks and necklaces in May. The team is doing something in a couple of weeks when we are gone, then in July will be the actual event. I should be around for it.

Welcome Home Anne!!!! I read something not long ago about eating small meals every 2-3 hours. There must be something to it. I am soooooooooo glad that you had a nice time!! Thought about you often, and prayed the weather was nice for you, and that everything went as planned.

Just got home from the Poultry Days Parade here in town. It is really a huge festival this weekend for the small town. It makes the festival in the town we moved from look pretty sick. lol We're going up to the school later and browse through the craft tents, and then we'll eat BBQ chicken dinners.

Sounds like fun. I got depressed yesterday-it caught up with me. We watched the Queen last night-good movie. Today I go before the deacons. I am sure it will be ok.
And to my Godchild's graduation party. The brownies came out good.
Still damp and overcast. Hope the sun comes out for the party.

Mima, I hope the depression doesn't hit you often. I'm doing much better with mine. I have even cut back to taking the medicine every other day since I've retired. I havne't told the doctor, I just did it on my own. So far, so good.
How did things go with the deacons? I'm sure you were fine!! We've had sunshine for several days in a row here. It's beautiful again today. Supposed to be in the 80's all week, so we'll have windows open and save some $$ without the AC on. Of course if the neighbor lady turns her AC on, we'll turn ours on tonight because her AC unit is right outside our bedroom. Gets a bit loud trying to sleep. One downfall of living in a condo I guess. BUT as I'm typing, the men are here mowing, and that is NOT a downfall about living in the condo!! They also did our snow removal this winter, put down new mulch and weeded around the bushes a couple months ago. I'm definitely glad we downsized to this place.

Plans for today - I've already been doing laundry, I want to clean the carpet in Tim's room (the dog had an accident when we were gone), take some things to Goodwill, go to Post Office, and start thinking about what I plan to take on our trip (we leave Sat. morning). I also MUST find time for a nap!! I've been up since 5, and I think I'm wearing out fast.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week!!

Default Hey There

I think that depression is something we all get from time to time.. I tried medication but it never seem to be the answer for me.. I also studied medications for so many years and knowing the side effects of those medications ,down the road,I was always afraid of them.
I used to and still do sometimes fall on food as a crutch. Now, that isn't my answer either. It just makes me gain weight.
I just got back from a hot walk with Christie. Hopefully she is tired enough to leave me alone the rest of the evening..She always knows when it is time to go.. What a fuss she puts up till she sees me getting ready to go . I put her leash on her and she is already at the door..
Till tomorrow...Joanne

I went on Prozac after my mom passed away and my dad had a stroke 4 months later. I was really struggling then. I've gone off of it a couple of times during the summer, but I always have ended up going back on it. At one time I was taking 2 a day, so I feel like taking 1 every other day is a big break through for me.

Christie sounds like Kramer. He always knows when it is time to go. I never made it to Goodwill today, but I'll be near there tomorrow so I can drop off the bag then.

Bob and I test drove a Chev. Equinox today. We really liked it. We told the guy we are leaving on vacation on Sat., so we won't be making any quick decisions about it.

Hope everyone is doing ok!!

I vote for a Toyota or Honda-they last forever!!! You can even get a hybrid. Think about it. they also don't break down. Advice from an old lady-been there, done that,
8 deacons, deaconnesses and the Pastor who asked me my testimony-which was years in the making. But I'm here. Then 3 people said something nice to me. And I already know the Pastor likes me.
I think that depression was caused by things wearing on me and I haven't gotten any exercise. I finally had some tears about-got mad at Brad because he's not sensitive. And went to walmart.
I feel ok this week-the graduation party was so nice, sitting in a nice yard all afternoon and hearing the father of the other girl talk about what he does to help young people. What a Christian!!!!
Auntie finally went to doctor and she has an infection. She was going to get an ultrasound today.
Byr for now-my son and the acct are coming over this morning. mima

No Toyota or Honda dealerships near here, so it is hard to get service for them when needed. Glad the grad. party was nice. The ones we've gone to have been nice also.

Got my hair trimmed today. I always have a good time there. I've known her for 20+ years, so we have lots of history together.

Steak on the grill for supper tonight. Baked potato too.
