It's supposed to be up to 47 today! Maybe it won't snow today. This weather has been absolutely crazy!! Hope that girl doesn't stand you up again!!
We have our closing on the house at 10:00 this morning. I hope I don't cry, but I probably will. The buyers are young, so they'll have many years to enjoy the big house and big yard. It was just too much for us with my health problems. I know we made the right decision downsizing to this home. It is perfect for us. We'll even have more room when Tim moves out in a few years. I'm not looking forward to that, but I guess his being away at college will help to prepare me. I hope everyone has a great weekend!! Oh, we're leaving tomorrow for an overnighter to Cincinnati. There are some gambling boats nearby, and Bob's pool team goes down every year after the end of their season. Wives and girlfriends too. I'm sure we'll have a good time. We're not much into gambling, but I think I can play a few slot machines. lol |
I hardly cried!! I did cry enough to make the wife of the couple buying it cry, but she's one of my former students, so that was ok! We went out to the house with them after the closing and walked through with them answering any questions they had. Also pointed out some things that they might want to know about it.
Where is everyone??? |
yeah-where is everyone???? Glad your house is settled. Change is good! Just not too much of it. Waiting for snow report back home. Had a nice lunch with friend-she went over to her Country club and got chicken salad on a pineapple and fruit. I ate a bit of the pineapple-so good. We caught up on things. Glad it was time to go home because her husband smoked 2 cigarettes while I was there, can't believe we are already going home. It's going to be 90 again just like last year when we went home. Then we freeze!!!Have to sleep on the couch the first night because the water bed is too cold.
Where's meme??? You must have some escapade to report, Hi Joanne, Anne Chris. Mima |
Good morning Mima and Tammy and all you other MIA people.
I have just had a very busy week. I have been working lots this week and it has caught up to me. Today, we are heading back to Edmonton. It is my son's birthday and my GF 60th birthday so we will go have lunch with her. I am hoping to catch up to the fellow who does massage on my back. He is soooo good. I will try phoning him at 9:00 a.m. and see if he has any time for today. Tammy - glad that the house deal is now finished. I don't really get emotionally upset about "things". People and pets, that's different. We built our house, and lived in it for 19 years. I cleaned it all up and then had to return the next day to drop off a key to them. Best thing I ever did. Everything was wrong in the house. Wrong furniture, wrong postioning - just wrong. Didn't even feel like my house. I also LOVE change. I think it is good for us. Perhaps being an Airies is why. I just get bored I guess. Mima - I would hate being where it is 90F. That is the same as being where it is -30. You still have to stay in the house:) My favorite temperature is about 75-80, certainly NO hotter. I sure don't know what has happened to Meme. It's been a very long time. Joanne - I know you busy running between rain drops with the pup lol Hope you are feeling ok. Chris seems to have left us as well. Oh well! the house isn't empty yet:dizzy: Have a nice weekend. |
Mima, the chicken salad on pineapple sounds yummy. I like fresh pineapple. I'm with you about the cigarettes. I can hardly stand to be around smoke at all anymore.
Anne, I hope you are able to get that massage!! I need one today too! 2 birthdays to celebrate! Have fun!! I just took Kramer to the Pooch Parlor. We'll pick him up on Monday afternoon. Wish those women would get back in here and post!! At least to let us know that they are ok. I emailed Meme, but I haven't heard back from her. |
Hey there-finally got Brad to take his sugar and it was 314 like I suspected. I think it scared him because he ate better and will take an extra pill each day and see his doc. He just gave up on the diet and he eats all the wrong things. And today we are going to Golden Corral!!! After church-we will give a short talk at Sunday school-leaving this afternoon. Brought a lot of food to Mike. Had dinner there, Hope you got a massage Anne-I will get on back home pronto-last time I got one here , I was worse than before=same with hair-I want Carla back.
Bye for now-I will be in cyberspace for a while. Behave yourselves. Mima |
Hey There
Hey Everybody- It is not beach weather here right now..I am back with the sweater.. Usually at this time of the year it is really warm. Yesterday we had on th ac.
I have been trying to work on my weight again.. I want to lose at least 5 more lbs.. I do good for a couple days and then not so good when I get frustrated..My worse downfall icecream and bread . I stopped buying bread. I am trying to watch carbs.. We went to lunch after church with our son and his wife. He ordered a bunch of chips and salsa. I have no willpower..I did better the rest of the day.. I'm trying to take it day by day. I know 5 lbs doesn't sound like much but it really is to me. I go for blood work tomorrow. I hope my sugar and colesterol is down.. Otherwise I feel pretty good. I guess Mima is on the way north. Drive careful. Happy is still in the snow I guess. And Mema where are you? Joanne |
Sorry I have been MIA. I have had a real bad time lately. I finally had the MRI on my knee this past Monday and was suppose to see the PA in the morning to get the results. Well my dang arm started bothering again...and it was bad. I haven't picked up a bowling in over a month. So I figured it was from all the computer time I was putting in. Sooooo I had to start wearning the brace on my wrist all the time which makes it real hard to use the computer. Shhhh I don't have it on at the moment. My arm was to the point that the tendon was really swollen and shooting pains down my arm. So I called ortho and got in with the PA on Friday. He did yet another injection of cortisone into my arm. I laughed and said with 6 cortisone shots since Dec there shouldn't be a dang thing on my bod hurting. If only that was the truth. He looked at the MRI and I have a torn ACL, menicus, and no cartilage in one area. So the PA's plan is to have see the surgeon and have him do arthoscopic surgery to the knee to clean it all up and do some mirco fractures by drilling holes in the bone where there is no cartilage. This will be a temp fix and I will still be looking at knee replacement as soon as 2 months but I might get away with it for 5 years. When I get into see the surgeon I am hoping to talk him to the replacement and forgetting the temp fix. Then if my arm doesn't get better with this last injection I will then have to have a tendon release on it. If the first 3 didn't do the job I really don't have much hope for this last one. Well I need to get the brace back on...arm is starting to burn again. Hope everyone is doing fine.

314 is pretty high for a reading. Glad that Brad is going to be watching it a little closer. Have a safe trip Mima!!
Joanne, we are in the 50's today, but the wind is blowing so it feels much cooler than that. Ice cream is definitely my downfall too. We do have to take it one day at a time. Hope your blood tests turn out ok, and I hope your doctor is nicer than mine was this morning. I took a paper with my BP readings and glucose ratings from the past couple of months to show the doctor how I've been doing. He still insists that I am diabetic even though all of my readings have been "normal" and below. The test at the hospital for glucose was 100, and that is NOT diabetic. I am getting so frustrated!! I realize that diabetes is in our family, but maybe I'll be one of the ones that isn't!! My cholesterol level was down from the last time (quite a bit) but he is talking about putting me on medicine for it! I cried when I got out to the car. When I was in his office, I think I was so shocked by the diabetic talk and the cholesterol I didn't even talk to him about my back pain. We have talked about changing doctors since we moved, and I think this is a good reason to move to someone else. With our insurance changing with the retirement, we are going to have more out of pocket expenses. We don't need that. Chris, sorry things aren't any better for you. Hang in there! |
Hey There
Tammy- My Dr. told me anything over 128 was diabetic.I am going to ,have to ,do better than I have this week..No willpower.. When my hubby retired we had to go to another health plan. Humana... There was different plans for retirees. We don't have that much out of pocket expenses once we get through that donut hole for the meds. Co-pays depend on what they are for. My meds are 5 dollors each and right now the hubbies are 30. All his meds are brand. No Dr. co-pay unless it is specialists. We are somewhat satisfied with our Dr. I knew him when I was nursing. He doesn't go to hospitals anymore but has a good staff of good Dr's in his office. His practice is just too large and he had some heart problems so had to cut back.He is young too.Maybe in his 50's.
It was in the 60's here today. May be close to that tomorrow. Then it is supposed to warm up.I am fighting a sore throat. I guess the change of weather. I haven't been sick this winter. I sure hope it clears up.. Hello Everybody...Joanne |
Hi ... I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I've been in here.
MY TAXES ARE DONE! HOORAY - HOORAY! At first I was stressing out (time wise) with getting the choir to learn the Easter Cantata by the 8th ... they did great. The last 2 weeks I've spent hours and hours working on getting our business taxes ready for the CPA. I was up until after 3 in the morning most of last week. We took them to the CPA last Thursday night ... we only owe $1200 this year. Then I had my house which I had completely ignored for 2 weeks, had to play catch up. I'm so close to having that office finished and ready to use but now I'm so tired and in so much pain. I have too much to do. I guess I need to scale my life down some. I'll have to figure out what to cut! Not going to be easy! I had a lot of reading to do to catch up. Sounds like all of you have been doing good ... I'm glad you all had a good Easter. Welcome to our newbie. Tammy, glad you sold your house. The longest I ever lived in one place is here ... 17 years. I have lived in 26 different places! I'll try not to stay away for 2 weeks again ... I missed you guys. |
Joanne, I had a reading of 126 once, and the doctor said that was diabetic. That reading I had done right after Christmas one year. Dumb move on my part, and now it's coming back to bite me in the behind!! With our new insurance, we chose to pay a lower monthly rate with a higher deductible. I think it will work out ok, because I don't think we'll have that many bills (I hope!!). The prescription coverage is quite good.
My BIL just called from Tampa. We were talking about the crazy weather. MEME, IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT YOU GOT BACK HERE!!!!!!!!! Glad that your taxes are finished!! You can come on up and tackle my house since you are experienced at cleaning!! Actually, ours doesn't look too bad for once. lol OH!! BIG NEWS!! We came back from the casino on Sunday with more $$ than we took to "play" with. We were very pleased. I had so much fun walking around just watching people!! I know that I got plenty of walking in during the day for sure. I'd like to go back and just stay in the hotel! It is so glamorous and fancy!! Not our usual kind of place. lol We have to go to the Bursar's Office tomorrow at Ball State, so we're going late enough that we can pick up Tim for a late lunch. I'm sure we'll be heading to IHOP. We all like that place. Anne, the vacation plans aren't going to bring us close enough to you for a visit. I wish we could meet! |
Hello everyone! We had a nice visit with Tim today. I ended up getting a salad, and the guys had breakfast. Boy did they eat alot!! Sure looked good, but my salad was really good too.
I keep thinking about my doctor. I have the lab order to go have blood done in 3 months for the sugar and cholesterol. I told Bob that I'm not going to do it. I'll just keep doing what I've been doing, and possibly even watching things a little more closely. We have gone to this doctor for ages, and I don't understand the change in him. He has merged with another group from here in the county, and that's when we noticed changes. I do know that he isn't sure that fibromyalgia is a real thing. He NEVER mentions it when I'm there. Sure glad that I have my rheumatologist!! Hope you all had a great day! |
Are you all on vacation together or partying somewhere without me???
|
Hi Tammy. No party and no vacation - yet! You sure don't want to be here at the moment. It started snowing yesterday, with intermitent rain. At this time of night, it is snow. It isn't just at freezing so it isn't cold, but by morning the roads will be icy. Spring is having a terrible time getting here this year! We don't usually have snow this late in April. The good thing is, is that it will be gone on the first nice day, which is going to be Saturday:carrot: In the meantime, I am hurting from this darn weather. My feet feel like I am walking on nails.
I have been going out, however, and doing some shopping. I have put off buying nice clothes since I stopped working 10 years ago. For work now, all I wear are scrubs. So, I have been having fun. Today, I bought a beautiful navy skirt. It doens't add extra inches to the old body, so I am happy. It is a longer cut as well (it's a summer skirt). Also, got a nice paid of silver sandals to go with. I can go spend $150.00 on shoes and not get a narrow fit, these were at Sears and were on sale for $19.99 and they fit perfectly. I just hope they last for the summer:) I also bought 2 pairs of capri's and a pair of dress pants, some new Tshirts and a couple of dressy tops. I am NOW set! I am glad that you guys had a good lunch with Tim. Tammy, it is normal for the Dr. to want to monitor your glucose levels. We get lots of this at the lab. Every 3 months for a year. Tammy, I am glad the house deal is finally final. It must be a relief in a way. Meme - were glad that you got those taxes done and came up for air:lol: You need to do what makes you happy and leave the rest. I know you love your gkids. We all do, but looking after them all day for a few days is very tiring and that is just with one. I don't know how you do it. I hope your pain has eased. Joanne - I sure hope your throat didn't turn into something yukky! Mima - I don't know how long it takes you to get home, but I hope you have a safe trip. Chris - I hope you are doing better. Is the Dr. going to do surgery on that knee? |
Meme, you can vent anytime you like! Your life is very busy and I am NOT one bit jealous:lol: Seriously, you will have to pick and choose. Giving up teaching the piano is a start, and having hubby home to look after the business in the AM is another good thing. Perhaps you can find time to rest.
Talk to your Church and tell them you just can't be responsible for everything. Your health is important and you need to look after yourself. You do so much and then you run on empty. Cut that back. As for your kids - tell them that you are available only one weekend a month. If you weren't living so close, they would have to make arrangements for somebody else to look after them. I know you love those gkids, but they are tiring. As much as you may look young, you still aren't the same as you were when you were young:carrot: As I said before, pick the things you really enjoy doing and forget the rest. Of course, the gkids aren't included in that one. I really hope you can get this straightened out and at least slow down to a trot! Here is a good site. Some of you might be interested in what this Dr. has to say. I think you have to sign up on this site, but the info is really quite good. http://www.mercola.com/current.htm |
Aw shucks Anne ... and here I was hoping to provoke a little envy ... but sympathy is good ... I'll take commiseration! :D As we get older, life is supposed to slow down ... not get get busier and more complicated. I'm really glad I have a life ... many women at age 60 are widowed and have no life at all. I don't want that. I just want to be able to enjoy the life I have at a little slower pace. It won't be long until all 4 gkids will be too old to want to come over and spend the night ... so I don't want to miss out on the overnights, either. Garrett will be 12 next weekend ... just a few more years will get him! It's a delima, alright!
|
Hi -we are home to a flooded cellar!! Into the new apt which is ok cuz it only ruined one piece of sheetrock-another dilemma before we fix it up.
Meme-priorities-God, yourself, family and others. Think about it. Get a Dome book and keep track of the business and then you woon't have to spend so m,uch time-a reformed tax preparer. Oh I so full of advice. Stuff evereywhere. We got stuck in the mud in the yard because I wanted the car in the back. They had an awful storm here-my brothrer's camp is surrounded by mud in VT becuase the road above let go. Gotta get to work. Mima |
Hey There
Meme- No envy...Sounds like a lot of people are taking advantage of you..Last night at Tops the subject about making vests for the club came up. It was suggested by one of the members that I make them. It didn't take me long to let them know ' that was a lot of work and no thank you.'I did make a few a few years ago that I never saw anyone wear.. Now if they want them they can pay someone to make them or make them themselves. I don't want to take my time even if they want to pay me.I am 74 years old and have my own projects. Cut back ,Girl. As long as you keep saying yes ,it will keep coming.
Mima- Glad you got home ok. Too bad about the mess you found.. Happy- I think it is allergy working on me. The oaks are blooming as well as other things. My daughter must be going through the same thing. The pines are putting off pollen. This has been a crazy year.. It is so much fun to buy new clothes..Plus just about every store are having sales.. Down here we wear almost the same thing year around. Tammy - We are going to go on vacation to St George Island in August.. My daughter has rented a house for a week.. We haven't done this in a few years. It is right on the Gulf. We just walk out and sit on the beach. It is sorta isolated and that is what we like. Water, sunsets and rises, and books and each other.TV not so good there although my hubby and son-in-law will find something. My SIL sets up something to bring in stations. They would have a fit otherwise. The men need the TV I guess..Just family time.We have to take food for the week or go about 15 miles to find a grocery store.. Hope there are no storms then.. Have a Good Weekend Everybody...It seems like the days around here are always the same..Joanne |
Anne, I would not like the snow and the rain, you are right. Good for you for going shopping and getting some nice things. You deserve it!!
My doctor has been having me go for glucose tests at the hospital for 3 years now. I think that's long enough to do it so often since it hasn't been high except the 126 several years ago. Now that we are paying more with the insurance change, I don't want to do it as often. Meme, I agree about giving up something, but it is such a hard decision. Sounds like giving up the piano teaching is a good idea though. Mima, how awful to go home to a flooded cellar! How much time will it take to get things cleaned up? Joanne, good for you for saying NO about those vests! St. George Island sounds wonderful to me. Just being together and hanging out is what we enjoy most about Jekyll Island when we go there, and it isn't really isolated. Not doing much today. Packed up a couple bags of clothes to take to the consignment shop. Stopped there yesterday and I had $30 coming to me!! I like that. |
I wrote a fibro poem. Hope it's ok to post here...
Hi everyone,
I just wrote a fibro poem. I hope it's ok to post here. My fibro has really been acting up lately, way more than "normal" and I am struggling to deal with it. I am trying to find ways to face it head on and conquer it. Writing is something I enjoy doing, so I figured I would write about it instead of just sitting around and waiting for the pain to subside. Always before, if I can engage my mind in something, the pain seems to lessen somewhat. Usually I do crafts, etc. but I have recently started painting and writing again. Anyway, here it is, if anyone wants to read it... The Invasion Fibromyalgia Syndrome Painful and exhausting Spreading visciously through her body Like a raging fire in brown, dry grass If only they could find a cure. Copyright 2007, Kathy Bahr |
Kathy, thanks for posting! Isn't it the truth??
I hope that you'll come back and post more often and help us solve all the problems of the world. (or at least be supportive of each other!!!) Good for you on losing 30 pounds! That's great!!! |
Good poem. Sometimes it feels just like that, too ... fire! Hubby was kissing me goodnight tonight and he put his hand on my back and commented on how hot my skin is. I just said, yeah ... not a good time for me. Sometimes I can actually feel cold but my skin will be hot. Weird. And lately it seems I'm always in pain and tired. Good job on describing fibro.
I'm still not sure about all the other 'stuff'. I probably won't keep doing all the stuff at church. The Coordinator of Education job is elected once a year. I'm 3 months in right now so 9 more to go. I may try to tough it out. Sorry your basement flooded, Mima ... that must be a mess and it will be an expense to fix, too. Water damage is such a pain. Joanne, why is it when people find out you can do something like sew they just assume you want to do all the projects? They used to do that to me at churches we went to. Gotta go to bed, hubby has to work tomorrow so that means I have to get up early and "man" the business. Oh, Mima, the Dome Books won't work either if I don't enter the data ... that IS crucial you know!!! :D The books are not the dilemma!!! I already have a set of books that I started when we started the business, that isn't the problem. Getting the data put in is the problem! :p |
I put trhe data in every once in a while while I am watching the tv. Then I file the papers in categories in an accordion fle. i get behind but it doesn't take long to carch up. Then at least all the stuff is organized, Took me a while to get organized-hate to come home because it's back to keeping records!!! Worse part is getting Brad to give me the slips. He buys a lot of equipment.
Nowadays I am very careful as to what I give my time talents and treasure!! It will be great just having one church for that. Angela already challenged me with it-she hired a face painter for Debbie's party for 150$ and said her mother and Brett's mother were chipping in and oh sigh-they would have to pay the rest. I changed the subject. That kind of money is nuts-especial;ly when they just bought a house, They are having her party at the church hall and invited everyone. I NEVER spent that kinf of money on parties. I know some people do. We have no debt except for the monthly credit card. It's all about choice. Every year I come back to face the disfunction -I have had a lot of experience with it. She also wanted me to go get boxes for her-I said to send Brett-I told her where to get them. I have too much stuff to do right now. But I did say that when I went by-we would get them . They put them in the hallway of the liquor store. Water is getting better, Brad;s truck got rejected for a sticker. A light stays on-the truck is only 4 years old and under warranty. I will be getting in a positive mood any moment now-always a huge adjustment to come back, The weather is beautiful. PTL for thaT. And the Red Sox won.. We watched RV last night-funny!!! Just what we needed. We can't complain because so many people have woes right now. Got an e-mail from Isaac-his mother died suddenly in Nigeria. 67 and a great Christian leader. He has so many woes-his wife paralyzed and 2 teenagers to take care of. And he heads the Mission Organization. Money is always a challenge. Bye for now. Mima whose fibro is haywire. But I have an appt Tues. |
Before I was diagnosed, I would tell people that I felt like my arms were burning up. My students were so concerned about me, and they couldn't understand why my doctor wouldn't do anything. He finally did something by sending me to my rheumatologist who I think is totally awesome!!
Meme, I agree about your husband helping you at church!! My hubby convinced me to take over vice-president of the band boosters after that woman was killed in a car accident (one of my friends). That v-pres then has to be president the following year. The president not only has to run the booster meetings, but also the fall and spring banquets. Guess who had to work the night of the banguets????? I planned on him doing those since I did all of the meetings. Not so!! I did ok though. Mima, $150 for a face painter? My goodness!! How old is Debbie? Someone else just mentioned RV recently. Can't remember who it was, but they liked it. Sad about Isaac's mother. It has been absolutely beautiful here this weekend. I could handle this all the time!! |
We brought the nice air from FL! Ha! It's gorgeous here too. What a church day-we watched McGregor on the net at 8, Sunday school and church at Bethany and then McGregor at 6. Marvelous message on humility.
Had brunch after church-mmmmm. Today is clean your closet day. If I haven't worn it in 2 years -bye. To Salvation Army! Brad is cleaning the cellar too/ Poor man at church has squamish cell carcinoma that spread to his lymph nodes and he is in pain!!! Gotta contact work-they sent letters out already and I didn't get one . My middle son Bob is going to have surgery for a hernia on the 4th. Called him to ask how we could help and he has it all set.He does live quite a ways. So we can visit and bring him food and books/ Actually may 4 is our anniversay. Bye and hi to everyone who had a busy weekend. Mima |
Mima, I have a couple bags of clothes to take to the consignment shop. My closet is looking better and better!! Bob said I should get rid of things, and then buy a few more things that fit better since I've lost some weight. He thinks the baggy pants need to go. lol
Happy anniversary on May 4! That's Tim's last day of exams, then he'll be home a week before he starts summer classes. My b-day is May 8. maybe we should have a party!! Face painting for everyone!!!! lol Thanks for bringing the beautiful warmth with you from Florida!!! |
I'll paimt your face, Tammy. And I won't charge $150. Ha!!!
I HAVE GOT TO SLOW DOWN. My body is in pain!! 7 bags to the Salvation Army and a receipt for taxes. I even gave them a yellow Ver Bradley bag which someone will scoff up. Rheumo this am and then I need to go to Joanne's to get fabric for baby quilt for my d's girlfriend. Have some from e-bay-child cowgirls-the father is a country-western singer. How's that for creative. Oh yeah-I am supposed to br humble. And then to health food store for bread, cookies and Rice ice cream. Went to Walmart and finished bd's for Keith and Debbie. 10 bd's in a row rom Feb 2-May 15. Have to get Alison's online-she wants a cd and the sheet music for 25th anniversary of Putnam Cty Spelling Bee-she just saw that in Ft Myers. Want an x-ray of my back which keeps going out-could be muscular but want it checked. If it's muscular I am going to join the health club with a 90 degree pool to swim. That helps but when I walk it hurts again, Go figure, Also eyes on Thurs. Helping Brett and Angela for 2 hours on Fr and then on Sat. Did I say I ws going to slow dow. Bad Mima. Bye Mima |
ps-Alison's bd is May 9th.
|
Mima, I'm sure someone will grab that bag right away! I thought I was doing good with 2 bags! 7 bags is great!! I want to go through Tim's dresser and closet and get rid of things, but maybe I should wait till he gets home to do it himself.
Yes, I believe you did mention slowing down!!! I wish the pool at the Y was 90 degrees. They keep saying it is 86, but none of us believe it. It used to be warmer than it is. We could almost be floating around on icebergs! |
Hey There
Hello Everybody-- Occording to my lab reports I am going to pot.. Colesterol, Trig, sugar . UP!!! I got a lecture about exercising.. I am guilty there. Guess I will have to set aside a hour daily for that..A couple years ago I was doing a hour every day.. I guess I am letting everything else get in the way.I don't think the South Beach diet is the way to go.I have to rethink this.. It is time to think of me again.I just wish I knew what would motivate me better..
I gave 2 bags of clothes away about a month ago. I bet there is that many more to get rid of.. I always think I will wear them again.. Mima- Give yourself some time to get used to being back home.. Tammy- I went to the pool at the local spa.. They said the pool was heated to 80 degrees. It was freezing.. I got cramps in the water . I couldn't stand it..Humana would have paided for it.. There are usually older women taking those classes. You would think that they would have had the pool warmer. Most of us left. The Dr. told me to eat a T of cinnimon daily for my sugar.. Have you heard of that?It is supposed to help lower it.. I got depressed. I ate Icecream(I put the cinnimon on it)and some chocolate bar,Fried chicken.black beans.and a biscuit, for supper. Talk about shooting myself in the foot!!! Talk about WHINNING! Joanne |
I haven't heard about cinnamon for sugar, but I've heard about it for cholesterol and blood pressure. Hmmmm. Maybe it would help with all of them. What was your cholesterol level? I'm still not happy with my doctor for wanting me to take meds for mine. Ice cream. That sounds like me. I can do really good, and then I blow it with ice cream. I guess we'll just have to do the best we can. I need to do more on the days that I don't have water aerobics. I try to get 15-30 minutes of something on those days, so I guess I need to aim for more. Hang in there Joanne!!!!
|
Good evening ladies.
Mima - take it easy - you are going to make yourself sick and tired, and you know we are always sick and tired:dizzy: I give clothes away all the time, however, we don't get receipts to use for taxes. Hope you got the water out of your basement and that it isn't smelling musty or moldy. I can't tolerate either of those odors. My sinuses get in an uproar. Joanne - sorry about the high everything! Cinnamon is supposed to stabalize blood sugars. Here is a site you can go to read about it if you want http://www.vrp.com/art/1397.asp Also, here is some news you MIGHT like - 70% choclolate and higher (we buy 85% cocoa) can help regulate blood sugars, and high blood pressure as well. Just 1 oz a day. If you don't like dark chocolate, (like I did) you will get use to it and it tastes really good. My cholesterol was a bit high as well, but not so bad for my age. The good cholesterol was high as well, so that is a good thing. Nobody suggested I take a med, thankfully. Tammy - I don't know how cold the water is in the indoor pool I go to, but it feels cold, until I start doing areobics, then I get hot. I haven't been able to bring myself to get into the water in the past year. I LOVE my rebounder (the little trampoline thing). It gives me a good workout and my massage therapist told me it is great at getting the lymphatic system to drain right. Also, it is gentle exercise. I can't do to much of that with this darn back, but I am enjoying the rebounder - a lot! I only jump for maybe 5-7 minutes at a time. I do a few exercises on it as well. I don't mean high jumps either. Just bouncing and lifting your heels off the trampoline. Supposed to be good for FM as well. A tip about cleaning out your closet. I thought this was great when I read it. Turn ALL your hangers the wrong way out and then when you wear something put it back with the hanger the right way. At the end of 6 -12 months, go in and take EVERYTHING that is hanging the wrong way, out. What a great way to find out what you are or are not wearing. Easy and sensible. I haven't done much. I worked yesterday, and it was a terrible day. The computer wouldn't work, the FAX was not co-operating. It was just a very frustrating day, and I was happy to see it end. I am off for the rest of the week and I am really happy about that. I am going to see my chiropractor tomorrow. I need to start now, so I can be in good shape by the time we are ready to go on holidays. It is only 3 weeks away now. I hope you all have a nice night. |
Anne, I took a circuit class at the Y several years ago, and one of the stations was the rebounder. It was fun! I was always afraid that I would break it though, so I was nervous the whole time that I did it.
I love that hangar idea!! Now if I can just remember it when I go to my closet!! Your trip is getting closer!!! I would be getting so excited!!! |
Love that hanger idea! I have heard aout cinnamon and blood sugar. Supposed to work.
Wow-went to rheumo yesterday and he said I had bursitis in my hip and gave me a shot. It worked and it also worked for my back. He said if it din;t work, I could get x-rays. I was sure I was headed for surgery. I will have to get arheum in FL because I put up with this for months!! He also wants me to take chloroquine as it slows down arthritis. But of couse it has side effects like pains in the stomache so I take half at a time. Went to Joann's-it was gone!!!! and there isn't one near but there is one where I go to work. Gotta make that baby quilt-the shower is on the same day as Keith's bd-I promised my daughter I would be there and help out. Wonder how Angela will take it. Brad can go. The church is not sponsoring the Jamaican trip so we will have to go as Sunday school group. That actually works out cheaper. And no red tape. They are voting on the washing machine tonight. Please help me pray=thanks. Always have to remember-God.s will. It's so good not to be in so much pain. Mima |
Glad that the shot helped!! I wrote down chloroquine. Now, is it an OTC thing or prescription? I can't believe the store was gone!! Oh my!! Amen to it being God's will about everything!
It has rained all day here, so I've been hurting. Bob has a meeting later, so I'm headed to Wal Mart to pick up a few things. My list keeps growing!! |
It's a script and it is used to treat malaria but doc said it eventually slows down arthritis. I do not like the side effects so I am going to stop taking it for a couple of days. I think it makes me tired, gives pains, and congetsion. Don't run out and get it.
I got my material at Walmart-pretty yellow check-have it cut out at least. Eye appt at 11. The town where my son lives had their water tainted with lye from a malfunctioning pump. Finally got him and I said don't drink the water. He sid his dog was enjoying a big bowl of it-he has a well!! But his tenant in the other house had to be decontaminated. Not fun!! I have been to Walmart 2x already. Bye Mima |
Mima, I think I"ll stay away from that medicine.
Received a call from the preacher at our old church last night. There is a Women's Emmaus Walk this weekend, and a member of the team is sick and had to cancel out. I am now on the team! I go tonight about 5, and I won't be home until sometime Sunday night. I know most of the people on the team, and I've done it before, so I'm looking forward to it. Not looking forward to all of the food that will be there though!! Have a great weekend everyone!! I need to go take a nap to get prepared for no sleep on the weekend!! |
That's great-I remember when you went last time!
Went to eye doc's and got a new script even though there is only a little change in my vision. She also put something in my eyes to keep them moistened and if it works she will put them in permanently. I don't know name of it but I trust her-she is so tiny, Asian, must wear a 2 or 4!!!! That's not why I trust her. Other doc never treated my dry eyes, cataracts are still small-yeah. Went for a walk yesterday and came home and got attacked by my body-pains in my stomache-achiness, etc. I am supposed to help Angela and Brett but I think I should wait til tomorrow. It could be sinuses -not the pains in my stomache though. I just don't think they are draining. It's pouring. Not good for cellar. Church is going to buy the washing machine-Isaac was happy. Bye for now-Mima |
Good morning.
Tammy - have fun. I know you enjoyed this last time. Hope the naps help before hand:) Mima - what are the name of the drops she is putting in your eyes? I have dry eyes as well, and they darn well hurt. I hope you find out what is bothering your stomach. Glad the washing machine got approved. It is sure quiet on this board. I guess it is that time of year. Less than 3 weeks before we leave on our holiday. I am NOT looking forward to the 16 hours or more of travelling, but I know I will enjoy it once I am there. It's not just the flying, but after we get off the plane, we have to drive from Germany to Denmark - about 3 hours or so. I have some housework to do today, but other than that, I will try to get out and enjoy this beautiful day. SPRING has FINALLY arrived in Alberta. Hope you all have a nice day. Hi, Joanne and Meme. |
