Default fibro/hypothyroid yikes!

[COLOR="DarkOrchid"]HI everyone. I am new, started LAWL and I have had fibromyalgia for..oh about 15 years, maybe longer. I also have been hypothyroid since 1994 after I had my daughter. My fibro waxes and wanes, but is overall better than it was when I went thru all the cfs crap at the beginning of it all. My thyroid until recently was well controlled but my levels were recently drawn at 3.4, when my normal is 1.7. Doc upped my meds about a month ago and I am just starting to feel good, however starting my new plan a couple days ago (LAWL) brought on a major fibro flareup!!
I am a nurse, I work long shifts three times a week, but I am on vacation this week, then work for 3 days, and then another week off (I couldn't quite coordinate it to get two full weeks off lol) The fibro has been so manageable thru nursing school and thru almost a year as an RN, but wow, just one day on the start-off of LAWL and I was a mess. Its since better in the last two days but that really worried me.
Anyway, I wanted to say hi, and I will probably be around looking for support etc and offering it as well.
Its a little more challenging to lose weight when exercise hurts and when thyroid interferes but we can do it, right????/COLOR]

coopergrrl- I don't know much about LAWL, but I unfortunately know a lot about fibro and thyroid issues. Does the LAWL food contain soy for protein? If it does, it's messing up the uptake of your thyroid meds which could be causing the fibro flare. Or you could just be having a reaction to some ingredient in the LAWL foods that is causing the flare.

I avoid any soy based protein like the plague. I can pretty much count on having a fibro flare if I eat it. I'm not on thyroid meds now, but the soy-thyroid link is 100% proven.

Check the ingredients labels on whatever you are eating

Good luck figuring it out!

Thanks mel. There is soy in the LA Lite bars that they make me eat, but the flareup started before the soy. I think it was the shock to my system of the 'cleansing drink'. I've had one bar today, I am supposed to have two a day but I am going to just have one a day. Then when I see my endo I will get my blood checked and see what the dealio is with the thyroid level and soy.
