  • Weight this morning was 171. 0 down .6 lbs. Hope to see the 160s in the near future. FBG 102 and bp was 96/56, but I checked it again later and it was higher 102/60.

I got my lab reports. Don't like the fact that CA 125 and protein in urine was up, but creatinine was normal and other numbers were either stable or better. The CT Scan will give more info.

I do believe the way I'm eating now will help improve my numbers even better. I also read that cinnamon is good for the nerves and neuropathy. I already take 3 of the things they suggest and found that cinnamon was the only thing I need to add to it. I used to use cinnamon, but I don't eat cereal anymore, but decided I could put it in my yogurt. I had a little bit left and tried it for dinner and it was good. I also used to buy cinnamon sticks and put them in my coffee, but haven't been able to find them at the store anymore. However, I looked on Amazon and was able to get the Ceylon powder and sticks which is supposed to be healthier and safer for kidneys than cassia. I will get them tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.
  • I didnt post yesterday but I did weigh. Weight was up to 176.2 and today it was up to 177.0. Im not happy that its up. But its fluctuating and will go back down.

I have to go to the store and buy beef hot dogs. We are going to step daughters. She did not invite us but I wanted to go so I talked her into inviting us. She told me she was just cooking ribs for them. DH will not eat ribs. I will, but I wont eat theirs because she only bought enough for them. We arent going until 3:30. Our kids eat much later than we do. We usually talkbto her at 7 PM and shes cooking dinner. They eat then go to bed. Iwill have to tell her that that causes weight gain. If they are used to sleeping will a full stomach theyv will have a hard time changing. Her husband is not big but hes a big eater and eats whatever she cooks. But he has gout and cant eat pork but he does not take the meds. Ill have to ask how he can eat ribs.
  • Weight the same as yesterday. FBG 101 and bp was 95//56 so I think it is time to cut out one of my carvedilol pills. I remember the online oncologist told me that if I was going to low carb or keto that I would have to watch those things as the diet would cause them to get better.

Carol Sue I love ribs. I think because the meat off the bone is so much better flavor to me, but DH doesn't like them. He doesn't any fat except butter.

We are having cod fish today. At the moment, I am enjoying my woe keeping carbs low, but not keto low and I'm finding the calories are pretty low too. I get fiber, but I don't worry about those. DH may be able to come off of his glimepiride soon because his FBG was 85 yesterday. He seems to have got his diet and exercise working for him. I still have to finish my exercises today. I added some more exercises this morning. I did the core exercises therapy told DH to do in SC. I am beginning to feel better and able to walk around the house without the walker sometimes. It makes me feel better about myself.

Carol Sue Start by eating the things you like not what you think you should. Just work it into your calorie/carbs. Do the exercises that you enjoy doing. Just start where you are comfortable. That is what I did and I just add or tweaking where you need to make your plan work for you. Don't worry about what someone else thinks. You have a lot of knowledge from the books you read. Now just use what "fits you".

Enjoy your time with y'all's kids. Hope you are feeling better.

    Have a great day everybody

  • Hi Lucy! Welcome to the Diabetes thread! Tellnus more aboutvyourself and your experience.

The scale is on its,way back up T 178.2 today but I ate good last night.I didnt overeat but had some of everything except baked beans.

one of her cats, came out to see me. They usually stay in the bedroom when we come. She just sat and stared at me while I talked to her. They dont like strangers.
  • Lucy Welcome. Sounds like you got control of your diabetes quickly. That is good. Please feel free to share your experience with us.

Carol Sue I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with y'all's kids and that is interesting about the cat. Your weight is up, but I'm confident you will turn things around and get it back down.

Weight this morning 169.6 lbs. I was so excited to see that. I just hope I am really back into the 160s. That would be awesome. FBG was 104. I was surprised, because I thought it would have been lower, but I'm sure it will come.

DH watches YouTube when I go to bed. He found Dr. Amy, the doc who helps us people come through cancer treatment with the things she learned and discovered to make it easier. She told us to use dry body brushing to get our circulation going and keep lymph system clean. She tells people how to bounce on a small trampoline type gadget, but at my age that is impossible. However, she says use an exercise mat bouncing back and for on your toes. Then she said use the vibration machine you and I have Carol Sue and exercise on it. This is supposed to help you not to have cancer again. So I did the body brush and 5 minutes of exercise on the vibration machine. I can say that my legs actually feel alive.

Carol Sue How are you feeling? How is the napping? Is it better?

DS is back in the hospital with her asthma. She said she saw a doctor who told her "You are not going to die. You just feel like it. You don't look like a person who is going to die". She will go home from the hospital.

Hope everybody has a good day.
  • Scale continues to climb. 179 today. I thought it would go down today. I guess I will go back to tracking to see how much im eating.

I dont understand how the doctor can say that DS does not look like a person who is going to die, but I guess doctors see every type of person and their condition. I dont know how a person feels when they are dying but sometimes I say I feel like Im dying.

The napping continues. i think its because that is the time of day when I text with my friend and God is trying to get that to stop. We'll. see. God started it,but I guess he decided it was a mistake.

Step daughter was happy that the cat and I had a little talk. The cats stay in the bedroom when company comes but I think it was time for them to come out to eat. DH and I were the only ones there so I think it was quieter than when the while family is there. The cat just stared and stared while I talked softly to her. Her name is Angel Fire. They are both black and were born together and abandoned. The other cats name is Arnie because she thought it was a boy. They stay indoors. She also feeds a stray cat that comes in her driveway.

I told DH to cut back on the size of my breakfast. I think it starts up my appetite. Then I eat too much the rest of the day. So he will only cook 1 egg.
  • Carol Sue I know it sounds crazy, but I love black cats. They are so pretty and I have had 2 of them. I had the first one when my 1st husband was living. My sisters came to spend a week and I missed my cat. When I asked where he was, I learned that my baby sister about 5 or 6 years old gave him away. The second one I had was during my second marriage. I got her as a kitten at the same time I got my beautiful cocker spaniel. She got out one day and not knowing to be afraid of a dog, she was killed by my neighbor's German shepherd. I decided to never try to have another one. I would have a puppy if I could because they are usually friendlier.

Weight this morning 170.2 lbs so bouncing which is normal. FBG 102 and bp 100/61. I dropped one of the Carvedilol and will let my doctor know.

Dr. Amy says it is important to eat fruit and veggies when fighting cancer and even as a survivor. I may try to add some next week after my infusion, but it is difficult to change things when the weight loss is finally happening.

I text DS and she said she had a rough night and will call me later. I know they are taking fluid off of her fast with Lasix shots which will drain your energy and they drained the blisters off her feet. So I think she needs to be able to get her strength back.

I did some of my exercises early because Dr. Amy says it is not an option for a cancer patient/survivor. I don't feel like doing it today so having to push myself today. I knew if I never started that I wouldn't do it. My life depends on it.

Hope you have a good a good day.
  • Scale finally went down to 178.8,just .2 butt down is down.

Right before step daughter got married we were shopping and stopped at the pet store. They had kittens and she liked a black one. A couple weeks later was her birthday so we bought her the kitten for her birthday. They had that cat for years, Smokey, then he died. She found these 2 black kittens abandoned in her trailer park and took them home. She thought they were boy and girl but the vet said they were both girls when she got them spayed. They hide in the bedroom when visitors come. I do not get an allergic reaction to them because they stay away from me, mostly. I dont know if Im still allergic to cats. Mostly its only when I touch them. When I was a teen I stayed at my friends house overnight and her cat got in bed with me. The next day my eyes and nose were a mess. Years later when the doctor tested me he said I was allergic to cats, but not dogs.
  • Weight up to 171, but I knew it would be. I ate some crackers last night trying to get some energy. My bp is running too low and DH says that is why I am sleeping and having no energy. He says I should not push the exercise when I feel so bad, but I'm afraid if I don't do them, I will feel worse. I am going to change my woe and try to get a little more good carbs in my plan. I still want to keep my calorie/carbs low so will have to work at this with tracking. I've been eating around 1000 calories and maybe that isn't good to go that low for me as I've heard said you shouldn't do that. I will have to find my zone where I can eat what I need for energy but still lose weight. FBG was 107 so that is good. I mainly want to keep it under 110.

According to Dr. Amy plenty of fruits and veggies are important and she gives a list of the main ones to eat when dealing with cancer. So, I will pick what I like from her list.

I may not be having problems with a UTI as much as the fact that the bp is too low. According to DH if bp is too low, the kidneys cannot function properly. He wants to discuss it with doctor tomorrow. I am taking 2 bp meds. I don't want to come off Lisinopril because I need it protect my kidneys with the cancer med I'm on. However, I may not need the carvedilol anymore. I need to see if I'm eating something that is causing this too. Example, I can't eat beets or take the beet supplements because they make my bp go too low.

Carol Sue Glad your weight is down and like you say down is down.

DS is feeling better today and is going home today. So glad. I think she is scheduled for oncology appointment tomorrow to see our oncologist, so I hope to get to see her tomorrow. If not, I will go see her at home soon.

My DS is allergic to cats, but not dogs.

    Have a nice day everybody.
  • Scale is down again1.6 to 177. Blood sugar is a bit high.

I forgot about beets lowering blood pressure. we like beets and I buy sliced canned beets. We like them with vinegar. We will have to start eating them more often.

He will probably want to go to the casino again, since he still has money left from his win last week.

  • Quick flyby today we leave soon to go see oncologist and get my infusion. I have questions for him. I am taking my bp machine for him to see what my bp is running right now. I've exercised and drank coffee and bp was still in the 90s over 50s. I think that is low, but then I don't know what is low. I don't know what is causing it. I'm wondering if it can be caused by the Gabapentin. I'm not taking anything else. I may have to take just one. I didn't take my morning carvedilol this morning. I did take it last night with the Lisinopril like I always do. I just didn't know if I should stop it completely.

I am doing the body dry brush everyday that Dr. Amy says do for circulation and I have to tell you it makes me feel so good.

Weight up ,8 to 171.8. I didn't track it yet. We have one more day and I hope it will come back down at least to 170.

DS has an appt today and I hope we get to cross paths today. Don't know if she will get infusion or not.

Carol Sue Y'all have a good day at the casino.

    Have a good one everybody.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Appointment went very well. Dr. told me some of the problems I see with high readings of CA 123 and Protein in urine is not my fault as it is caused by the cancer treatment. My low bp reading is due to a faulty bp meter. As an old mechanic DH#2 worked with used to tell the younger mechanics... new doesn't spell good. I will have to order a new one as I keep a close watch on my bp due to my low carb woe.

Dr. says everything is stable. He noticed my weight loss and thought that was good. He ordered a urine analysis and I do have a UTI. I am on Ciprofloxacin for 5 days. Hopefully I will start feeling much better again when this takes effect.

DS had her appointment, and I heard from her DD that when they got home she passed out in the drive way going into the house and they took her to the ER. I haven't heard anything else. I don't know if she got out of breath or what. She has asthma and it is warm here.
  • Trish,I pray that your sister is ok, and its nothing serious.

Scale is up .6 to 177.6. But its noon, instead of 9 am when I usually get weighed. I was up earlier but went back to sleep. We didnt get home until midnight last night. Thats much later than usual. DH had a good machine but could not hit a jackpot. He hit for smaller amounts and accumulated $500 which he brought home, but we dont really consider that a win.

Is the blood pressure machine the new one that you just bought? Thats a,shame. We took ours to the doctor with us and it matched the doctors reading. We got a newer one since then but it is the same. I hope you get a good one. Our blood pressure is never as low as yours. Mine runs around 140/60. DHs is a little lower top number. For years mine has been Higher top and lower bottom. That condition has a name and always puzzles the nurses, but its normal for me.
  • Weight the same as yesterday. Adding veggies and some carbs back to woe. Don't know how this will effect weight loss, but trying to follow the plan that fights cancer. Will still try to keep carbs fairly low preferable below 100 g and get the fiber I need. I want to keep my calories around 1200 because I would like to keep losing at least a lb or so a week.

They send DS back home as she became stable again. I told my niece to check her Mother's hemoglobin and she said it was low but they said it has to be 7.5 or lower in order to give her a blood transfusion. I went through that too. I told her that oncologist told me that a cancer patients hemoglobin has to be higher. So we are waiting to see what it was when she got her lab done at oncology yesterday. DH who was a practicing Respiratory therapist for 20 yrs in the hospital says that she isn't getting enough oxygen if her hemoglobin is too low. Oncology lab says mine has to be between 12 to 16 range. When mine was between 8 and 9, I felt like a dish rag and could not walk and I was in the hospital. DS is trying to walk and exercise. So she is using all her oxygen and faints. I had to wait till I got out of the hospital and my doctor had to order a blood transfusion for me. It took 3 trips as outpatient to get blood transfusions before I could feel normal again. My niece will check it and email the oncologist to get DS taken care of.

Carol Sue How did your trip to casino go. Since y'all eat their fish on Fridays, it is a win/win even if y'all don't win.

Hope everyone has a good day.
  • Carol Sue We were writing at the same time.

Yes the new one I just bought was giving me exceptionally low readings. It was reading about half the reading of the doctor's office machine. DH suggested a get one with the cuff that goes on the upper arm instead of the wrist. I hope it will be more accurate. I get it sometime tomorrow.

DS called me this morning. She said she kept telling the EMTS she wanted to go in the house but because she stopped breathing twice before they got there they took her to the ER. She said she had just got out of the hospital the day before and she didn't need ct scans or anything else because she had just had 2 scans last week when in the hospital. She kept telling them that she was going home if she had to pay for an ambulance to take her and that is what she did. She sounded good but tired. Good to hear from her.
