Carol Sue No, I remember that lady. In fact, she was the reason I bought the Magic Foods book. I remember her passing away. This woman's name is mauvaisroux under Whole Foods Lifestyle. I don't know if she is still around or not, but she put a load of good info on here. I've decided that the combo of my infusion medicine and fiber causes my potty issues. I am going to have to figure out how much fiber my body can handle.
I've never heard of a cobb salad but it sounds. We don't have a Bob Evans here. DH is going to Sam's and the local store across from Sam's. So that means Chinese food from the same shopping center where the store is. I wanted to go to the store but I will have to wait until next week when the potty issues slow down. I'm beginning to think maybe they are giving me too much of that medicine because they go by what I weight in their office which is always much more than what I weight at home. I think they need to use what I weight in the morning before I dress. I will talk to them about that next time I go for my infusion. Have a good nights sleep. Goodnight. |
Trish, I don't think fiber causes potty issues. Ithought it would correct it. Maybe the meds. I haven't had it for quite a while but I never really found out what caused mine. Mine might have been from the Metformin. I haven't taken my full dose lately because it interacted with my fluid pill.
I can't fine the Whole Foods,section. I will look again. I found it! The scale is back down 1 lb to 176. Im staying away from the new one! It was later in the day after eating and fully dressed. I slept well last night. I woke up at 3 am to go to the bathroom and Fitbit showed poor sleep but then I put my cpap on and fell back into a deep sleep. Now my sleep shows much better. DH doesn't understand how the Fitbit can rate my sleep and neither do I but there's a difference on my Fitbit when I know I slept well or poorly. Today has to be D-day for me. Yesterday we got into a discussion about the frequent casino trips and out of the blue DH said "If you keep bringing up the casino I'm going to say Carol needs to stop eating because she's getting fat.".He never makes those comments but might be thinking it. I told him he is the reason I'm getting fat because he is always wanting to eat and wants me to eat with him. Dinner is king for him while I'm not a dinner person. I prefer eating earlier in the day and going to bed hungry. He will not be happy when I say" I have to stop eating. You said so.". He eats often,but very small amounts. He leaves food on his plate every meal. I noticed he has not been eating breakfast even though he cooks for me. He eats a Twinkie. Or nothing. I can delay breakfast but I want my eggs. They are cheap and I like them. They gave me 2 little cups of dressing but I only used one. I ate a couple pieces of chicken and brought the rest home for Rusty. The chicken was delicious but we like to bring a snack home for the dog. Its like having a child! One time I ordered a grilled chicken salad at Texas Roadhouse and the chicken was cold. Noooo! At Bob Evans you can tell its a warm, freshly grilled chicken breast. I know you can buy frozen bags of grilled chicken strips but at least heat them up! Im glad we have Bob Evans nearby because they have pretty good food and its inexpensive but the meals are small compared to other restaurants. Small is good for people like me. You can order a larger serving, as many meals come in 2 sizes, such as one chicken breast or 2 breasts. Some of their meals are only $8.99. Also,you can get a smaller Cobb Salad called a Savor Size. It has everything the larger one has except less lettuce. They do the same at breakfast. You can get a huge breakfast,or a classic breakfast that is very small. They don't know how to cook eggs as well as DH though. I told him he needs to work there to teach them how to cook eggs. |
Carol Sue I've never been able to eat a whole lot of fiber. My beautician has the same problem I do. I can eat it but have to limit it to less than 25 mg a day. I must be eating more. Guess I will have to start tracking on MFP again.
The Cobb Salad sounds good except I would use Ranch dressing too instead of the blue cheese. There was a time blue cheese dressing was my favorite, but some where along the way, I changed and can't stand it any more. I think I could make that salad at home. I will try to make it soon. I had a beautiful 2 egg omelet for breakfast this morning. I think I'm going to have to eat my eggs again and carefully add the amount of fiber that my body can tolerate. Sleep well dear friend. Trish,I always wondered why it was called a Cobb Salad. This recipe I found online also adds Avocado which I know you like. I like ranch dressing because its mild flavor.

Back up 1 lb to 177. Not what I wanted but I'm doing this to myself. I know better. I feel very fat and bloated. I've been eating when not hungry just because the food is there. Im starting to eat more vegetables. My BIL went to Aldis and bought lots of vegetables because his doctor told him to eat more vegetables. He tried to eat them all at once and got terrible gastric distress. Now he says he can't eat vegetables. He introduced too much fiber too fast and should have started off with a little bit, plus I think he ate them raw. He won't listen to anyone. He gets assistance in the form of food stamps. He buys lots of frozen pies and ice cream. I told him he gets that so he can buy healthy food. I don't understand how he is not diabetic. DH and I said he will probably live longer than any of us. I was reading about fiber this morning and started thinking that maybe you have issues with Fodmaps. I really can't figure out what causes my potty issues but I haven't had any for a few weeks. I have cut back on Metformin because it interacts with Bumex so maybe that's why. I was looking for my baby aspirin in my pill drawer and I think I have a full bottle of Bikes in there. I think I like it better than the Lasix but I don't know what would happen if I switch back and forth til the Bumex is gone. I was checking out online calorie calculators this morning and it says I should eat 1350 calories to lose, and if I start to exercise I should eat 1530. I used to lose at 1500 several years ago but now I need to be 1200 or lower. I know I am very inactive right now. Recently walking in stores etc has really hurt my legs, especially above the knee. It starts as soon as I start walking. I ate 2 eggs, I SL toast, 1/2 C of sauteed mushrooms, and a slice of tomato , then at noon I had cooked carrots. I am really into cooked carrots lately. I think they are healthy. I know they are healthier than Twix Bars! :lol: |
It has been a long day. I'm trying to get everything done so we can get our taxes done and DH had to put a new battery in my kindle. I spent time looking for the new ear plugs on so I can listen to my healing scriptures at night. The old plugs broke leaving the plug in in the kindle so DH had to take it apart to fix that too. I thought I was going to have to buy a new one, but bless his heart, he got it fixed. He found one old plug that I can use but will have to buy the one I like best from Amazon.
I found a discussion on 3fc which I had difficulty finding again about being allergic to fruit. There were others talking about how some people are allergic to fruits, veggies etc. So I'm thinking I may have an allergy to something that is causing my potty issues. I am headed to bed as soon as this show is over DH wants me to watch with him. I am so tired. Tomorrow I've got to get the rest of the things ready for DH to finish our taxes done and mailed. Scale is 177again. I am still overeating. We went to Texas Roadhouse and I ordered pork chops again. My pork chops never taste that good but I think they marinate them and I don't know what they use. I got 2 so I would have one to bring home for the dog. DH ordered his steak medium but it was too red for him. So heard the second pork chop and I brought the steak home for the dog plus half a pork chop. I ate a piece of steak because I like it red,but I like the pork better. I also had sweet potato and broccoli. I was so stuffed when I left there but later on I had ice cream. I don't know when I'm going to change.
There was a woman I worked with who loved fruit but had to take Imodium if she ate it. She ate it on cruises and its possible they put something on it such as preservatives to keep it from spoiling. I can eat fruit but I don't eat a lot. It would be great if you could find what causes your issues. From what I read, it can be insoluble fiber but soluble is good. Maybe you could look up insoluble vs soluble fiber and see if you can tell if you eat one more than the other. Fiber is know to prevent constipation. Some Fiber draws water into your bowl and can cause diarrhea. I have to do our taxes,too. I could not get an appointment with AARP. My problem is finding forms, plus I don't know which website to use to file online. I am procrastinating. I never knew you could put a battery in a Kindle. I have several. I have an original Kindle just for reading books. Later I bought a new one for making it easier on the eyes. I also have a few Kindle Fires that get online. The 10" " I use daily as a tablet. I use a smaller one to take to the casino to get online there. I have 2 smaller ones because someone was selling them BOGO. The extra one is in my spare room. They are all rechargeable with USB and I don't even know how to open them to see the battery. EDIT: I just found online about replacing a Kindle battery., with instructional videos. I never knew that! I'm reading a book about a woman trying everything to lose weight. She could not stick to anything. Now some one told her about a diet where you ate only 3 protein shakes a day for the first 2 weeks then you gradually add other foods, mainly protein. So far its working,but any diet works if you are able to stick to it. I want to follow a plan that I can eat the foods I like,in proper portions. I don't want to eliminate any foods that I like and don't want to be forced to eat foods I don't like. Life is too short. I know from past experience that this type of eating works for me as long as I don't over eat. If I feel stuffed, I over ate. Thats how I gained all my weight in the first place. It seems I want my first meal of eggs. After that its always eating because DH wants to eat. When he was in the hospital I quickly lost weight. I ate eggs at home before I went, then I ate from his hospital lunch. All he ever ate was the fruit and dessert they gave him. I would take his dinner roll and use whatever meat they gave him to make a little sandwich. When I came home I didn't eat dinner. I was usually tired and went to bed early. Actually, DH lost 28 lbs when he was in the hospital. It wasn't like home where you could eat any time you want, whatever you want. I think if I could make my own decisions about food I would be thin,but I can rarely do that.Its easier to do what he wants than to argue about it. He can be very persuasive. I have several pairs of earbuds. Often the wires break inside then one side won't work. |
I had my eggs for breakfast. I had 2 eggs, 1/4 avocado, a sl of bacon on a slice of toast along with 1 c coffee w/ French vanilla SF creamer. It was really good. No cereal. We had our salad, fish and fruit for dessert. I finished my eating with yogurt with a small amount of fruit in the bottom. Did my eating within 8 hr eating window. Still stayed under my calorie limit. For now that is an accomplishment.
Carol Sue I also want to be able to enjoy some of the foods I like too. I will look up that info on soluble vs insoluble. So far I didn't have a problem, but my fiber was not high. I read an article online that says that we need to eat only 14 g of fiber per 1000 calories as we get older. So if that is true, then I have definitely been eating too much and that would cause me problems. I got my part of the taxes done so now it is DH turn to do the rest. I even got my exercises done today. Finished them kind of late, but I got them done. Strange how just that little bit I did today makes me so tired and worn out. I might cook tomorrow instead of letting DH cook. May cook some kind of chicken dish. It is only a little after 8 pm and I am ready to go to bed, but it is too early for me to go to bed. Today the scale is still at 177 but it is .0 and yesterday was .8 so that's almost down 1 lb. I didn't eat dinner last night and I feel hungry this morning. I was hungry overnight.
I looked over my food log for the past week and sometimes my fiber is around 12 grams and sometimes its around 24. Just depends on what I eat. I am aware that I need fiber but don't really try to increase it. Some days I'm as low as 4-6 grams! I went to bed very early last night. I was just tired. I don't know why. I finally got my hair cut. It was just too long and bushy for me. There were 3 girls working and I didn't know any of them. They got new people since I've been there. The girl I usually go to had surgery and will be back in a couple weeks. The girl who cut my hair did a nice job. |
I woke up so tired that I couldn't function. All I wanted to do was sleep. I dressed and moved to the living room and tried to read my devotional. It was a struggle but I finally got through. I had 2 boiled eggs, 2 sl bacon and a slice of toast.
I got my new chair and it will take me a few days to get used to the new buttons. My weight is slowly coming back down. It was 156.4 lbs today. I didn't feel well so I ended up eating chicken noodle soup. Feeling better tonight. I think I went to bed too late last night so will make it a point to go to better earlier tonight. |
Im sorry you didn't feel well, Trish and hope you feel better tomorrow. I had the meatballs and cheese from a meatball hoagie and it upset my stomach. DH said I ate too much and he's probably right. I just feel so bloated anymore.
I find when I'm really tired like that I let myself sleep in bed until I feel that I got enough sleep. I can't function when I'm too tired. I think if I can get my eating back under control that I won't feel bloated and will feel better all over. I also am drinking too much lemonade. Its artificially sweetened and those sweeteners affect me. Goodnight! |
I did not weigh this morning. I still feel bloated and uncomfortable. Im not in a good frame of mind to see an unhappy number. I've been gradually going up. I slept good, then Rusty got me up to go outside. I tried to get DH to get up and do it but no dice! I got up because I felt sorry for Rusty. I know what its like when you have to go, and he depends on us. He can't open the door. So I let him out and made the coffee. Then DH got up. The little stinker!
I ate eggs at 10 am. I don't want to eat again until dinner and I want wings,but that means Rodneys, and I don't know if DH will want to go there. I don't feel like cooking. I do have to cook some chicken for the dog. He gets that for a snack. Its raining and a little chilly. I want to stay home all day. I have laundry to do. |
Carol Sue I am sorry you are feeling bloated. My weight is up to 157.2 and I've got to get busy getting my weight moving downward again before it starts going up again. You will get back to it. We both will. Hopefully, I am going to get back to it today.

I was hungrier than I thought I was and have to say that I enjoyed our meal. I've had 2 good meals brunch and dinner and it is my hope not to eat anything else today. We will see how I do. I'm glad you had a good day today,Trish. I think mine was a little better. My calories were higher than usual, over 1350 and carbs grams were 133. We didn't have dinner. I wasn't hungry since I ate a lot all day, so DH got McDonalds for himself.
I spent the evening watching seated exercises on youtube. There are a lot. Most of them are similar and I can easily do them. I can't continue waiting for energy to get back to exercising. Maybe the exercises will increase my energy. I just have to push myself to do it. It seems that once I start, I get the urge to continue on. Its just getting started. It got cold today. Tomorrow the high is going to be 38 with snow showers. Then warmer the rest of the week, 50s and 60s. I'm ready for summer, summer clothes and sitting on the porch. |
Scale is back up to 178 this morning. I am just bouncing between 177 and 178. I know I am still over eating. I don't feel thin today. Maybe today will be the day for me.
DH changed the clocks this morning. I will be happy that it stays light longer. His bedside clock changes automatically and changes early. I think he has am/pm wrong so it changes in the afternoon instead of during the night. I still have to change mine. All our electronics change themselves except the stove and microwave. Maybe spring coming will get me to better participate in my weight control. 9 more days til Spring! |
DH changed our clocks last night, but forgot to change the one in our bathroom.
Sorry the weight was up. I'm beginning to get tired of the junk I eat. I would love to do lower carb but not sure about the protein. I'm ready for some chicken wings. I think I have found out that the fruit is what is causing the potty issues. I notice when I don't eat fruit, I have no issues. I still am not sure about eating a protein diet with low carb. Today was a fairly good day. Texting with the FL kids. He is at work and she at her work and they put us on a 4way text at night now that DH has a cell phone. It is nice to hear from them once a week now that all the kids are grown. Have a good nights sleep tonight. |
