arol Sue Hope y'all will have a great day at the casino. You probably did pretty good with your eating.

I did the 5 hr eating window. I'm reading a new book for me that I got free reading from Amazon titled Eat Stop Eat by Brad Pilon. It is on Intermittent Fasting and I am enjoy reading it. This guy is a Canadian Author on Intermittent Fasting. He was always interested in healthy eating etc starting when he was 10 yrs old. He worked reading sports books and magazines interested in mens health. He wrote this book because he was reading all the medical research etc and one book would say do this and another would say do something else etc. He said it was so confusing that he quit his job and decided to go back to college and got a degree in Human Biology and Nutritional Sciences so he could study all the research and find out what he was reading that was real and what was myth. I'm finding it interesting because he explains in layman terms how and what fasting does for us.

For this reason, I am more sold on Intermittent Fasting than ever . I won't ever do a long 72 hr fast which is the most he seems to think you should do on your own. But I do believe I could do the 5:19 with an occasional 24 hr fast thrown in now and then. So I am going to continue fasting and I hope to also do one or two days of 24 hr fasting. He seems to think you need to do one or two days a week of fasting for 24 hrs in order to lose weight. I honestly think this could become a lifestyle woe for me.

Trish, I've heard of Eat Stop Eat but I can't remember if I read it or not. My Kindle Unlimited ran out a month ago but I found it on PDF. I will read it at the casino today. finished my book on overeating. It seems I was a able to stick to it while I was reading it but began overeating again once I finished. :?: That makes me discouraged. I am back where I started. That doesn't mean I can't get back to it, but in tired of doing this over and over. Funny story. Yesterday we went out to eat. I complained that DH parked too close to the curb and it was hard for me to get out of the car. He said "If you can't fit through there you better stop eating!". I replied " I'm trying to but you won't let me!".

The best IF for me is 2 meals. 11-12, then 3-4. So that's similar to you. I rarely eat at night because we go to bed so early. Sometimes I will make a Keto flax muffin for the fiber. They are so good and I consider them healthy. I am at the point where I don't buy the foods I usually snack on. I don't want to buy anything I'm not going to eat in my 2 meals. I stopped buying the big containers of Greek yogurt. I bought a couple single serves but they are still sitting in the refrigerator. I do eat a few almonds occasionally and some pumpkin seeds. If there is nothing for me to snack on I can stick to my 2 meals. When we went to step sons his wife had some olives and cheese out for snacking and asked why I wasn't eating any. I put some on a plate and told her I will eat them with my meal. I could fill up on them and not be hungry for my meal.....but I would eat anyway. Sometimes when we eat out I'm not hungry after I eat my salad. But DH won't allow me to order just a salad. WHY? I wonder what he would do if I ate my salad and left my meal just sit there.

He just made breakfast and I turned it down. I will eat it later. He is not happy that I didn't eat. He cannot break that habit just like I cannot break my overeating habit. When I met him he only ate breakfast on weekends. If I was skinny and never ate I could understand him trying to make me eat. He likes thin women. He will comment on how nice they look. He will say "She never eats.* I reply that her husband does not force her to eat. I just realized that the breakfast he made was pancakes. I will NOT eat pancakes! I like them, but too many carbs. So I guess if I want to eat later I will cook my eggs myself. He did so good for a while.

We will probably leave later today. I want to gather up more clothes for Goodwill. I need to get organized.

I went into the kitchen for another cup of coffee and there were 5 pancakes sitting there! In what lifetime would I eat 5 pancakes? Well, back in the 90s during my gaining period I would. That's when my overeating began. Biggest mistake of my life to allow that to happen.

Carol Sue I will never understand why men do what they do or think the way they do. I told DH how a husband makes his wife feel when he says some things about other women and he just couldn’t understand why we would feel that way. ??? I remember when I was in Overeater’s Anonymous and we would be some where and see a very heavy weight woman and my sister-in-law would say something about her. One day she said to me. “I don’t know why you call yourself an overeater. You don’t over eat”. I asked her about why she said things about other over weight women when she is sitting there with me. She said, “I don’t see you that way”. So go figure. When I was in OA, I never let one morsel of starchy food pass my lips. If I forgot and had it in my mouth, I would spit it out. One day I asked DH#2 to go to the store and get something for us to eat. Now we were not pizza eaters and it was just the 2 of us, but what did he come back with? Pizza of all things. LOL Strange fellows.

Carol Sue What I loved about that IF article that I shared with you is that IF isn’t a diet. I too am tired of all this dieting being on and off etc. I want to eat normal for the years I have left on this earth and not worry about it. I really want to get back to the way I used to eat as a teenager because that was normal for me. I usually didn’t eat until lunch and of course that depended on when each grade had their lunch time. Then we usually ate around 5:30 when Daddy got home from work. Most days that was it unless Daddy went to lodge meetings and Mama made her fudge which I didn’t always eat. Can you believe there was a time I didn’t even want anything sweet to eat. Now I think I have to end my dinner with a diet ice cream cone or bar. I just need to be able to stop eating at night so I can go back to that way of eating again but staying up late makes that difficult. However, it may turn out okay.

I didn’t do low carb yesterday but my weight came down 1 lb and my FBG was 98 so maybe what I read in the article yesterday is true. We will see how it goes. This will be an experimental IF week doing 2MAD.

Carol Sue I think the casino is becoming a good thing for you. You can play if you want, read and get exercise at the same time. Glad you are able to make it work for you these days.

Trish, when DH makes comments to me about other women I just figure its a sign of his insecurity. Hes trying to get a rise out of me. I just agree with him. If I ever made a comment about another man he would have a conniption, so I keep my thoughts to myself.

Today we had a discussion about an egg fast. He said that I would gain weight if I ate only eggs and I know I would not, so we have a bet going. On Saturday, after I have had my Friday salmon salad at Rodneys I am going to start an egg fast. He is going to monitor my weight. I don't know how many days and I wonder if I will get sick of eggs. I did this one time when I lived in my apartment, before an egg fast was a thing. I love eggs. They were cheap and I was poor. It was all I could afford until payday.

The casino was ok. The best part was the salad. It has romaine in it, that's why its so good.

For some reason the PDF only downloaded part of the Eat Stop Eat book. So it looks like I will have to rejoin Kindle Unlimited to get it, and there's another one I want Eat Stop Eat for Women over 50, written by someone else.

Carol Sue I never say anything about other men either although DH will say something about other women. However, he does have this thing about actors that I like and when we start to watch a movie with some of my faves he will say "Your boyfriend is in this one..." and tell me which one is in it.

I'm not going to the beauty shop tomorrow since DH looked at my rash and looked up online and says I have a heat rash which I thought it was the other day. So I guess it started with the products I used, but according to what DH read, I caused the sweat gland to be blocked and made things worse. Evidently I should have just used powder and I would not have had to suffer so long with this. So I'm doing that now and not wearing anything that will touches that part of my neck. According to the article he read it should be well in a few days.. I laughed the other day and said right now I a "red neck". LOL Thank God the itching isn't bad now either.

I would love to do an egg fast but I think I would get tired of the eggs. My Baby sister has done that to break a stall. I've done 2 days of 5:19 IF ratio and I think I will try to do just one meal tomorrow and not eat again until 24 hrs later on Saturday.

I will have to look up that book you saw too Eat Stop Eat for Women over 50 when I finish this book.

Trish when I was young I got a bad rash on my face from products I tried so I don't try them anymore. I do use OLAY moisturizer after I wash my face so I guess that is product but I won't try anything new. I hope your rash clears up soon.

There's a guy I used to date that we see that n the casino. I never told DH that we dated. He will say "I saw your boyfriend" but doesn't know he really was my boyfriend. Men are funny.

There are other foods that I would get tired, like salads for example, but eggs are my favorite food and there are so many ways to eat them. I did it before and I know I can do it again. When we talked about my eating he said that I could order just a salad if that's all I wanted. Years ago he would not let me do that. Recently we saw a couple come into Rodneys and he got a plate of spaghetti and she just got a drink. DH said "She's just sitting there watching him eat!". I told him to mind his own business! :smug:

I recently saw an ad for 2 free months of Kindle Unlimited. If I can't get that I will just buy a month to get the 2 books I want. I hate to pay for a book and then not like it. The one I bought about overeating was worth the money. I looked back and saw that I paid $19.99 for PE Diet. I'm surprised that I did that! But I like Dr Naiman so much.
There is a woman on the low carb forum who goes to him as her doctor. He is really a doctor with a practice who takes an interest in weight loss and nutrition. Most of them just push pills. I sent him an email once and he replied and answered my question. It was about psoriasis. He said I would have to lower my body fat % to get rid of it. I believe it because it started around the time I reached and surpassed 150 lbs.

Carol Sue I think I pay $10.95 or something like that each month for unlimited kindle books, however, they still only allow so many books at a time. I had to clean out some of the borrowed books when I got this one. I realize that I could read more good books without buying them and will learn to do that. I don’t agree with or use everything I read in some of these books but I do like keeping up with new ideas and some times they help me tweak what I am doing.

I ended up gaining about 1.4 lbs this week but I think I am hanging here because I’m at the weight I’ve carried longer than what I’ve lost already so hopefully it is a good thing. One thing I did do this week is that I got 4 days of exercise accomplished so it was actually a good week even with the bump up in lbs.

Thanks for the article. I printed it out because that gives me an idea of what I can have to eat at 2nd meal or snack and keep more of a variety of healthy foods in my eating plan. I’m trying to get away from calling my woe a diet because eating 2MAD most days with a 24 hr OMAD thrown in there ever now and then to become my lifestyle. I told DS this morning that I am going to be 78 in August and I don’t know how many years I have left on this earth but I don’t want to live it thinking about “diets” and what I can and can’t eat or when. While I still like Brunch and Dinner, I will learn to adapt to Dinner and an evening Supper or snack. I really don’t like calling it a snack because I don’t want to snack any more so I think I will think of it as a Small Supper. I know I am playing on words but if it works as it has been before that is what counts.

Rash is better today. I’m no longer red neck but more of pink. LOL So it is improving. Hopefully by Monday it will be clear. The only thing I have used on my neck in years is Equate’s equivalent of Gold Bon diabetic lotion and had no problems. I can even use regular Ponds cream but nothing else. I use a Ponds cream that is supposed to help with wrinkles and can use it on my face but not on my neck or even arms. I can use regular Ponds night cream on face and neck but no where else. Strange isn’t it?

Pizza and salad on the menu today for main meal and I just might have popcorn or eggs for supper. I have been thinking about cooking potatoes and have them in the fridge to heat them up when I want them. IF makes it much easier to eat some of the foods on that list even though they are carbs.

I like that Dr. Naiman plan too. I was looking for something with more IF and forgot he has a group on there. I like knowing he is a doctor who leans toward this way of eating. I wish I could find one here. My SC doctor didn’t eat this way but he understood it because so many doctors in that office did keto/low carb woe.

Well I want to go read some more out of this book I hope to finish it this weekend so I can give it back and get another book. I will try to read the one you mentioned when I finish this one.

Trish, I remember having 10 books borrowed and having to return one before I could borrow another one. I started not being able to read them all so I took a break. Sometimes when I don't have it for a while they offer me a couple months free or 6 months at a reduced price. The last time I got free months because I bought a new Kindle.

I'm glad your rash is improving. Ponds face cream was the one that I was allergic to. I didn't remember until you mentioned it. I was going to write them a letter but then I realized that many people use it with no problem and it wasn't their fault that I was allergic. I just checked and the one I'm using now is Loreal Revitalize. I used to use Avon Dramatic Firming Cream and DH would use it, too. :lol:. But i dont see the Avon lady anymore to buy it.

I have so many bottles of body lotion that I've tried because of my psoriasis. I use half of it then try another one. All they do is keep the skin from being so dry. Psoriasis has to be healed from the inside out.

None of my doctors ever discuss diet or eating. The word "diet" means what you eat. People use it to mean weight loss diet. I try to eat healthy, taking into consideration the nutrition in what I eat, but I know I sometimes eat unhealthy things, like candy and ice cream. Nobody's perfect. The only thing anyone ever said was when the nurse told me to watch my fat. I try to do the best I can without eliminating any food or eating anything excessively. I have cut back on cheese not for any particular reason. Lately some has gone moldy and I have to throw it out. It just doesn't interest me anymore. I wonder what happens in our bodies to change the foods we like.

I’ve decided not to do the 24 hr fasts 2x a week at this time, but I will continue with the 19:5 IF ratio. I explained to DH that he needs to do only a 12 hr fast since he does need to lower belly fat, but does not need to lose weight. So he agreed to fast between 4 am and 4 pm. So we will start eating dinner around 4 or 4:30 pm in order to regulate his FBG. This way I can eat breakfast most days around 11 or 11:30 am and eat at 4 or 4:30 pm for my 5 hr eating window.

I am not going to worry about eating keto or low carbs. I just want to eat healthy balance with no foods off limits although I will continue eating sugar free or no sugar added foods and I won’t add high fats but not low fat either. I will only a 15 hr fast from tonight brunch tomorrow unless I decide to extend it to a 16 hr and just have a 4 hr fast tomorrow and move back into a 20:4 IF ratio. I got one of the Eat Fast Eat for women over 50 and started reading it too and she seems to think that a 20:4 ratio is difficult to do, but I didn’t find difficult once I got into it in the past. The think I need to remember from reading Pilon’s book is to make this a lifestyle instead of diet and know that I will eat this way permanently.

Carol Sue I used Avon products for years and never had any problems with them. I have bought Avon products online when I lived in SC, but have never tried to do it since I moved back to TX. I had an aunt who passed away years ago who sold Avon for most of her life.

I do need to add weights back into my exercise plan. In fact, he says do weights 2 days and cardio one day and be sure to give my body time to recover.

I got up early because I'm anxious to get started reading my book. Today I start my egg fast. Online it says to eat within 30 minutes of getting up so I'm breaking the first rule right off the bat! I still want to delay my first meal. My appetite issues aren't going to change just because I'm doing an egg fast. I have to put my loaf of bread in the freezer because I won't be eating it for a few days. When DH gets up I will get weighed so he can write it down as my starting weight. I guess he doesn't trust my scale app. It has a record of what I weigh since the day I bought it. He is certain I will gain weight.

I'm going to read for a while then I'll be back later.

Weight was 190.2. DH didn't write it down because he says he will remember. Its in the app if he "forgets.". I ate some carbs yesterday because I won't have them for awhile. I know I shouldn't do that. Last supper syndrome. I had some Ritz Crackers, gum drops and bread, but it was the 35 calorie bread, and some pretzels. I thought I would have a bump up but yesterday was 190.1.

I'm not sure what pattern I will follow after this egg fast. 5-6 hours eating works best for me. I don't know if I will ever do 24 hrs. I don't agree with the book about when autophagy starts. I think it takes longer than he says. Fasting doesn't start as soon as you stop eating. You are digesting for hours after you stop eating, that's why they tell you to stop eating 3 or more hours before bed. That's how I understand it but Lord knows I'm no expert!

I do know I have to go to the store for more eggs. I'm down to the last dozen. I try to keep 4 dozen on hand.

Carol Sue I’m not sure about when autophagy starts either but I think if I go 18 or 19 hrs fasting and eat within a 5 or 6 hr window I may get some. I don’t know if I will ever do a 24 hr fast either. The main thing is that I want to lose weight and do it in a healthy way and not have to think about food all the time. I also like being able to eat pretty much what I want to eat. I don’t have a problem with eating smaller quantities to have them. I think this way is normal for me. I figure DH will do good doing a 12 hr fast for his health because he doesn’t need to lose weight.

I had 2 eggs, a slice of bacon, a slice of SLMG 45 calories toast and my homemade yogurt and a c of coffee. I do use a little bit of sf creamer in my coffee because if I don’t I get heartburn. I’ve read you can have it during your fast if you have that problem. I started drinking 1T ACV in water to try to stop the acid reflux. I read about that on Dr. Fung’s FB page. However, I’ve decided that I can go with 0 calorie until around 10 am before I have a cup of coffee. So the plan is to have approx. 17 hrs before I have any coffee with the sf creamer.

My weight has been the same 185 lbs for 3 days in a row and 2 of those days my FBG was below 100. It was 98, 103 and then 97 today. So I’m hoping if I can stop eating at night and get into the routine of 2 meals a day that my FBG reading will stay under 100.

I hope your egg fast does it for you. I really think it will. It did for DBS and she is thin as a rail. If I don’t break this stall pretty soon, I just may have to do it. I think I could do it short term.

We are having pizza today because we didn’t have it yesterday. DH had to go to the store to get H&H so I could make our yogurt. I also had him get me some fresh broccoli florets. I saw a broccoli bacon salad recipe on a newsletter I get from Wellness Magazine and I made one so I can have I can have with our pizza today instead of the regular salad I usually make. He got Taco Bell on the way home from the store and it was very tasty.

It was easy shopping when all I bought was eggs and butter. :) DH bought corn, candy, pop tarts, bread, milk and sausage. He bought frozen corn and also fresh corn from a farmer. I don't know who is going to eat 14 ears of corn but I told him he can freeze some. He eats so much corn. He mashes it with a potato masher and makes cream corn.

I just had 2 pickled eggs for lunch. I love them. I soak them in beet juice and acv. So yummy. It started out that DH told me to do it for a week to see if I lost. He thinks I will gain, but I think he's changing his mind. He already tried to get me to eat corn. Online it says you should do an egg fast for 3-5 days. I will be happy to go 3 days but I think he will be coaxing me to eat before that. I mainly want to get back to 187 where I was.

I though I read in Eat Stop Eat that if you really can't do black coffee a bit of creamer won't hurt. I agree. I believe you can make tweaks to any food plan and make it your own. I know you like to follow to the letter but I am the opposite.

I guess I'm finished eating for the day. I feel a little hungry but I think it's just lack of carbs. I had 1100 calories, 7 GM of carb, 80 GM of fat and 73 GM of protein. DH had the sausage he bought and he wanted me to try it @@ so I had a bite. It was better than the Bob Evans we usually buy.

I passed a lot of fluid today and even had slight potty issues so I can't imagine the scale not being down tomorrow.

Carol Sue Yes he does say you can have creamer in your coffee if you have to. So I did use it. DH decided that we would go ahead and eat around 3 or 3:30 so I had a 4 hr eating window that way. So I was through eating a little after 4. I'm doing pretty good so far. I have diet drinks and tea with Stevia that I can drink to carry me through. He says he doesn't think drinks with aspertame is a problem. The main thing is to stay as close to 0 calorie as possible.

You did good with your eating even with the sausage with DH won't be a problem because it is still low carb. I would say that I ate moderately low carb even though we had pizza. You are right that I like to follow plans to the letter. DS told me yesterday that I am too tough on myself and she is right. I think fasting and exercising using what I learned from Eat Fast Eat leaves it absolutely up to the individual wants to do their own plan because he doesn't thing One size fits all on this either. Like I told DH tonight when I was reading to him what he says about it all and I said I'm doing this to build muscle. I want to exercise to keep my body especially my legs strong and I want to eat to lose weight and be healthy. Actually I think it is a doable way of doing just that.

I have one more chapter to read in this Pilon book and then I will go to the other book for women by Michelle Clarity. I've read the first 2 chapters in it already and will go back to reading it tomorrow.

Even as an egg lover, yesterday was hard. But blood sugar is great and weight is down to 186.9. I know its fluid and I know I'll gain as, soon as I go back to more balanced eating, but it was sooo worth it. And I learned a valuable lesson. My diabetes is not beyond help. I could have a great A1c if I just cut the carbs. How I love my carbs! But I want my health and if I don't learn from this I have no one to blame but myself. So an egg fast is good for breaking a stall and it only took 1 day for me.

Listen to this. DH got up and I told him my weight. He said "Ok you proved you were right so you can go back to eating normal.". I KNEW it bothered him that I wasn't eating with him. This might be my new normal. Not eggs, but low carb. I have a bit of a headache but I know its carb withdrawal, low carb flu. I will get thru it with Tylenol.

Now to get to exercise. Trish, does your BS exercise? I know you can't out run a bad diet but exercise is important for other things. Like you, I want to keep my legs strong so as not to lose my mobility.

Trish, did you get the free booklet Eat Stop Eat Optimized that was offered at the end of the book? I did and its good. The things he says make sense. I don't know if you can get it with a regular Kindle. I got it with my Kindle Fire and it comes in a download. Good information. He does talk about weight training and muscle growth which I don't really get into. I'm not going to get into bodybuilding at 75. I just want to strengthen my muscles so I don't lose my mobility.
