Pipsicle Congratulations on the 1 lb and hopeful the added 1/2 lb loss. You have a good trip next week and we will look forward to your return.

Carol Sue Sorry you didn't sleep well. Maybe you can get a nap later today. I understand about waiting until they get the confirmation on the house. Things are so iffy these days. We could very easily sale our house as they are going faster than they can get them on the market but I don't know where I would move. Plus we have no desire to go through the effort to move. DBS and DBIL still have not found a house to buy. She said she hasn't been really looking later but her DH wants them to get back to it.

I told DH that I really need to be able to eat keto because I just might be able to get rid of or at least stop the neuropathy from getting worse. I am really praying about that. I really like SBK if I could do it. I don't want to do it as a diet but as a guideline toward becoming a lifestyle because I want to eat "Naturally/Intuitively. I do believe it could be done that way.

Today I got hungry around noon and made myself a scrambled omelet with 2 eggs, Canadian bacon, cheese and asparagus. It was pretty good. I've switched to adding the Premier protein shake to my coffee and just may end my day with a Premier shake instead of eating something. My weight was down .6 lb to 182.4 today. I won't change the sidebar. In fact, I'm thinking about weighing everyday but go by what I way on the 1st of each month instead of having a WI day weekly.

Hope everybody has a nice day.

Trish, I'm surprised that you have neuropathy because your blood sugar was never really that bad, at least since I've known you. I think I have it but was never diagnosed. My toes get tingly and burn sometimes at night.

I seem to remember that you were doing very well before when drinking the shakes. I think the extra protein helps.

I'm getting really tired and will probably take a nap soon.

pattygirl63 06-27-2021 05:57 PM

Carol Sue I was surprised that I have it too, because I never had a doctor ever paid any attention to how I told him my lower legs and feet feel. They don't hurt or tingle so much as they feel like I have socks on them. One day I decided to talk to my new doctor about it telling him no one ever paid attention to it and he is the one who said it was neuropathy. He said he could give me medicine but if I could handle it that he really doesn't want me on the meds because of the bad side effects. I'm still not sure it is. I had an incident years ago when I worked at a correctional facility where my Lt. was angry with me because of report I made blaming her for one of the officers getting hurt. We were shorthanded one evening and could only have one person roving instead of at least 2 of us. I'm sure to get back at me she assigned that job to me that night for the whole 8 hrs. I knew she was trying to break me or even make me angry enough to quit and I was very stubborn. Many of the other officers wanted to trade out with me because we all knew what she was trying to do, but I refused to quit. I wanted her to see that I could stand my ground. By the time I got home, I could barely walk. I was probably over 200 lbs at that time so not easy to do 8 hrs of walking almost not stop with no brakes. Thank God one of my sons was home when I drove up and came out to the car because I needed him to help me get into the house. I have often thought of that night and I don't know if I could have walked into the house if he had not been home. After that every time I had to stand very long I had problems with my feet. I'm not sure whatever it is wasn't caused by that one incident. On the other hand, my Mama had circulation problems and I have wondered about that.

Eating has been pretty good so far today and hope it will continue to be so.\\
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finished reading the 10 rules in the Skinnygirl's Naturally Thin book but I don't feel the need to read the rest. I still like the IE 4 rules and I want to make those my rules for eating because they are so simple. If you are hungry, eat. Eat what you are really hungry for and Enjoy every bite eating as much as you need to satisfy your hunger and then stop eating when you are no longer hungry. I don't like feeling stuffed so I like to stop eating before I start feeling that way. I did this years ago in SC and it worked. I even found it easy to go around others who were eating and either refuse to eat when I wasn't hungry or if I wanted to et something I would eat a few bites of something and then just fellowship with everyone else. This is my goal to get back to that freedom from dieting.

Wannabehealthy 06-27-2021 10:14 PM

I dozed off and on but didn't sleep deep so I should still be able to sleep tonight. DH doesn't understand when I can't sleep from being worried about something. He is very happy go lucky. I feel like I am the only one who worries. I know I should let things go as they always work out.

When I was having all that foot pain I was supposed to go for a nerve test to see if I had neuropathy. After I tested positive for gout the meds took care of it so I never had the nerve test. My doctor has a tool he uses to test my feet. He touches it lightly to the bottom of my foot and asks if I can feel it. I can, but barely. My feet still burn sometimes but they never hurt.

I will be going to bed soon and will take the tart cherry. I haven't been taking it. And I keep Tylenol on my table at night in case I wake up and need it.

Wannabehealthy 06-28-2021 12:01 PM

I slept good. I only got up twice and went right back to sleep. I was in bed when I remembered the tart cherry and didn't want to get back up. No scale though. I feel fat.

We went to Goodwill and Aldi's. Trish in Aldi's I saw frozen cod fillets but DH would only eat them breaded. I would want them baked. Do you buy it frozen or fresh?Aldi's has a few things I can't get in Wal-Mart.

pattygirl63 06-28-2021 02:01 PM

Carol Sue I buy my cod fish fillets frozen from Sam's club mainly because they are cut thick not those thin cuts I get t other stores plus I get more fillets from Sam's. I get those because they are easier to grill and come out nicely whether I grill them or cook in garlic butter. I do bread other fish like the swai or white fish fillets I buy from my local store. I read years ago that you should buy your fish fresh the day you cook it which I did in FL when we had Albertsons. They said not to buy it if you could smell the fish because it wasn't fresh. I think of that when I go into the local store and the meat market smells strong with raw fish. I would never buy it fresh from there any way. But then I live too far from that store and it is the only one close to me that still has fresh cut meat from a butcher and I'm not sure how fresh it really is. Any way I like buying wild fish that I know aren't farm raised when I can and it easier to know that with frozen if we can trust what the package says. I also like buying other meats as well as produce from our TX store because I can get products that are supposed to be local grown and also they carry fresh meat that is raised without antibiotics etc. I have to pay a little more but not bad since it is just the 2 of us.

I'm glad you slept good. I did too. I still take 2 regular Tylenol before I go to bed but I don't take the Cherry tart much any more because sometimes it makes me feel draggy the next day. I take it only when I really need it.

Weight back up to 183.6 but then I remembered that I had the fried fish with cornmeal batter so that explains it. Today won't be much better either since DH wants homemade pizza. I think I am going to start doing the diminishing rule in Skinnygirls book. I am going to cut the amount of pizza I eat to half. In fact, I'm going to try to do that more and more with some of my good. I also am going to try to start eating more vegetables. I think that is where I am missing it with my eating because I don't eat as many veggies as I did in SC.

Carol Sue About the neuropathy. They say your feet burn and hurt with neuropathy. I don't have any of that so I'm still not sure that is the problem. My doc in SC always checked the feeling of the bottom of my feet but this doc doesn't. I'm not sure why. However, I kind of keep up with that myself and I do have feeling in the bottom of my feet. So not sure what is really going on.

Have a good day everyone.

Wannabehealthy 06-28-2021 04:27 PM

Trish,,we don't go to Sams because we don't buy enough to make it worthwhile. My step son does. Many people buy the large packages of meat and divide it up to freeze. I did that until DH doesn't like meat that has been frozen. Its annoying. I wrap it with a food saver that's air tight. I but very small packages of meat. A lot of other products at Sams are large sizes. Ketchup and mustard, I buy the smallest size possible even though the larger size is cheaper per ounce.

I like to pull the cheese and toppings off my pizza and mix it in a salad. We both got burned out on pizza and haven't had it for a while. I bought some sausage links to cook for dinner but DH cooked it and ate it for his lunch. Gotta love that guy! I don't care. He is starting to understand that if I'm not hungry I'm not going to eat.

I read that tart cherry has melatonin in it to help with sleep but it never made me groggy. I started taking it for gout pain. Now that I'm on the gout meds I don't need it.

pattygirl63 06-28-2021 06:02 PM

I decided to google the symptoms of my feet and found it very interesting that there are other people who have the same problem and everybody has been told something different about what it was even when tested by neurologist. Apparently it doesn't have to be neuropathy. It can be caused from back problems, one person had it after a pelvic surgery. The bottom line I learned was that there is no treatment although one person said that Alpha Lipoic Acid helped hers but that it doesn't help some peoples. I already take Alpha Lipoic Acid. I think that was the person who said it is most uncomfortable when in bed which is when mine is too. I assume that is why most doctors ignored my complain until this doctor and he had no real answer and neuropathy was just an answer since I've had no tests. He says if I can tolerate it without meds that is preferable so that is what I will do.

Wannabehealthy 06-29-2021 06:17 AM

Trish, I read about the feeling of having socks on and saw the same information as you saw. I think doctors ignore complaints about things if there is no med they can prescribe for it. Maybe it would help if you massage your feet. I hope you find a way of getting relief. I don't get that or pain but I don't like my feet covered up when I'm sleeping. I also don't like socks unless its really cold in the winter and I like slip on shoes so I can slip them off when sitting. I never go without shoes, though. Sometimes my toes will feel numb but not all the time. Occasionally I soak my feet in Epsom salts. Diabetics have to be very careful with their feet and should not go without socks.

I slept ok. I finally got on the scale but I'm 190.6 which is just fluctuations. I probably feel like I've gained because of the heat. Its supposed to cool down over the weekend, thank goodness. We went to Dollar General last night and parking lots were empty everywhere. People seem to be staying home. We are not used to temperatures like this especially for consecutive days.

__________________________________________________ _

I finally made a flax mug muffin this morning. I don't know what made me wait so long to try it! It actually made me want another one which always happens with me but I don't want too much flax. I cut back on the sweetener because I don't like things really sweet but next time ill use it all and might add a drop of vanilla like some others did. I got this recipe online but don't know if its the same one Mad posted a while back.

pattygirl63 06-29-2021 03:21 PM

I got busy this morning and forgot to eat or check in here. We have a 50% chance of rain today and even Saturday when we are having everybody here for 4th celebration. We had decided to switch it to the following week but oldest nephew and our nephew who is a truck driver can only come Saturday so we have decided to go with original plans on Saturday so they can be here. Our nephew who is into media productions for plays and concerts is beginning to get jobs again now that things are opening up again. I'm glad he is able to work again and have no problem having our gathering so he can be here.

Carol Sue My weight is just fluctuating too. My weight is .2 lb less than yesterday. Right now I am just thankful I'm not gaining. I will just keep doing what I'm doing and hope things will get better. May make some more changes when after our cookout this weekend, but no sense in trying anything different at this time.

I don't have any numbness in my feet, but just like you I don't go barefooted, but I don't like socks unless my feet are cold usually in the winter when floor is freezing. I prefer slip-on shoes easy to take off when at home like you do and I refer to wear sandals when I go out. I hate it when weather is cold and I have to wear socks and sneakers. I bought epsom salts to soak my feet in and never used it. I need to do that.

I used to make the mug flax bread but haven't made it in a long time. They now have a mug bread you can make with almond flour but I forget about making it. I should make it and eat it instead of regular toast with my eggs. I like making almond pancakes but don't do that either. I think it is because I haven't found one I really like.

Have a good day.

Wannabehealthy 06-29-2021 05:28 PM

Trish, I really like the flax mug muffin, its so filling and satisfying, not to mention healthy. The recipe i used said you can add chia seeds so i might try that. I've never used almond flour.

I know I could lose if I set my mind to it but I'm just not there right now. I'm glad I'm not gaining, too.

I hope the weather report changes before your party.

pattygirl63 06-29-2021 10:52 PM

Todays eating has been fine and pretty much SB but I couldn't tell you if I'm doing k or SC plan. Just thinking in terms of what I've read. I had one meal around 3:30ish and then around 8ish I had a snack 5 hr eating window. I'm doing a little bit each day of house cleaning that has to be done before Saturday so that I don't have to do so much that day that I can't enjoy everybody. If everybody shows up even x-wives there will be 40 of us counting little kids. I'm figuring about 26 of us are adults and the rest or little ones. My house isn't as big as the houses I've had before so that is why I need the weather to be nice so some of them can be outside. Smoking isn't allowed in the house so those who smoke usually spend most of their time outside.

I slept good last night and hope I will tonight too. We are going to do our shopping tomorrow for things I will need for the party hoping I won't have to go to the store when I leave the beauty shop Friday.

Wannabehealthy 06-30-2021 07:22 AM

Trish, that's really a lot of people. I have never had that many here. It sounds like fun but you definitely need good weather, especially with all those kids. I hope you will be able to stay on plan. I think you will do fine.

I slept good last night. I didn't drink much water and I think that helped. I know we're supposed to drink water for weight loss but I get up too many times during the night. Weight stayed the same.

fatmad 06-30-2021 07:25 AM

HI friends: we are at the cottage. I bought a scale to bring here, because I need that to help me lose the weight. It is working. With the weather rainy and no one up here, I have been doing well. 160 this am. Really pleased about it.

DH has a concussion. He hit his head on the hatchback on Monday and we spent an hour at the local hospital. I also called a friend who is recovering slowly from a head injury figuring she has the latest info. She and the doc said the same things so our little northern hospital is in my good books. He only had mild symptoms on Monday and less yesterday. He has been good about avoiding screen time, just two 5 minute sessions for work things yesterday.

I did an experimental screening tool for dementia yesterday and I was low risk, BUT it did not ask about head injury, which we knew is a major factor in dementia. Its why retired football players and boxers have issues with dementia. Its a particular type, but the screening tool was for all types. SO while it was reassuring, I have had a concussion many years ago, and that should have gone into the surgery.

Trish: don't know if I told you about what is working for neuropathy. Google "LivRelief" cream. It is in a blue coloured tube. Its not mentholated, but is good for pain. I was using it for my knee with the tendonitis and it was helping a little. THEN a friend suggested that using CBD oil topically could help. (CBD is the part of cannabis usually labelled "medicinal" and does not get you high). I decided too try doing that with the LivRelief cream because the cream has an ingredient that helps the medication go through the skin barrier and to the sore spot.
WHAT a difference. The two together worked really well to relieve the pain in my knee. But there was this interesting side effect. It helped the neuropathy in my fingers, because of course I was rubbing it all in with my hands.
I put a squirt of the cream on my hand, add 4 drops (yup thats all) of the CBD oil and rub away. I am now also using that with some success on my feet. Not much neuropathy pain, but they get "twitchy" at night (so of what I imagine restless legs feel like) and keep my from getting to sleep sometimes and its helpful for that too.
I am not sure about state laws and legality of CBD (vs oils with the THC portion which is that part that gets people high).
Anyhow, its quite nice and I am coping better with the hand pain. It is likely caused by my Sjogren's syndrome. Most of the auto-immune diseases have neuropathy as a possible problem.
So neuropathy can be caused by other things than high blood sugars.
I hope you find something that helps. I did not want to go on gabapentin if I could find something else that helped so I am glad I did. Its not an expensive solution either.

Have a good day friends.

pattygirl63 06-30-2021 04:57 PM

Carol Sue I am sleeping good lately too. I usually wake up ready to get up these days but not today. I only woke up once to go the bathroom and went right back to sleep as soon as I got back in bed. I didn't get up until almost 9 am. I would have preferred this being one of those early mornings since we were going to Sam's and then to the local store right across the street. Guess I needed the sleep.

I am getting excited about seeing everyone Saturday. I haven't seen most of them since Daddy's funeral because of the pandemic. DBS called and DBIL is bringing more meat hot dogs and meat to put in the freezer. Thankfully I able to get everything I need for my part of the meal so I don't have to go to the store when I leave the beauty shop. I did forget to get the radishes and celery I will need for my salads next week, but don't have room for it in my fridge but DBS said she will get the radishes for me when she goes to the store tomorrow.

Fatmad I'm glad the scale is helping with staying OP. I've heard weighing everyday doesn't work for everyone, but I think it does for me.

I am so sorry about your DH concussion. That is scary. Bless his heart he has been through a lot lately. I hope he continues to feel better and will be able to enjoy the rest of your time at the cottage.

Thanks for the info about the cream and CBD although it seems to be very expensive here in USA but I do get Hemp and have some Hemp cream as well as the oil. In fact, I take the oil at night and I think that is why I sleep so well and it doesn't make me groggy the next day.

My weight is stalled no significant move. I'm stuck at 183.6 give or take .2 lb fluctuations. I seemed to have only been able to lose and hold on to a 2 lb loss this month. But hey at least I lost. Thank God for that.

Hope everyone is having a blessed day.
