Carol Sue Glad your DH won since he does like going to the casino. No I don't think you will get him to stop anytime soon. I hope the sewer work gets done today. You are doing really good on your diet. I'm happy for you.

I guess I'm learning my way around the purple plan. My weight was up to 192.6 this morning. I got hungry last night but not enough for popcorn so I had a couple of slices of Canadian Bacon. I think I didn't eat enough protein yesterday and too many carbs. I also think I probably need to eat more of my pts. I have to be more careful to get that in. Plus I went over my 8 hr window. So this morning I changed back to my 11 am brunch. I had 3 pts for brunch and I had plenty of protein. I had 2 eggs @ 0pts, plenty of 0 pts veggies, 2 sl Canadian bacon cut up 1 pt, a Tbsp of 2% shredded cheese for 1 pt and wrapped that up in a Joseph's flax/bran 100% whole wheat wrap which has I think 5 g protein and it is 1 pt for half the item so I had a total of 3 pts brunch. It ends up being kind of like the taquito I used to eat at Whataburger only it has a lot of veggies in it so I can eat more veggies. My main meal today will be 11 pts and it is a lot of veggies and we are having them with swai fish fillet. Of course we always have a salad, but I'm cutting my salads down lately. I will finish it with a diet ice cream today.

I will use 14 pts today and 2 to roll over to tomorrow. I am going to work at making this a 2 meal day within 5 or 6 hrs eating window so I can start getting a good 19 or 20 hr fast. This is very doable with a 5/20 ration IF along with it. So I am going to try my best to do so.

I got a message from my DGS who lives close by and he thinks they are having another baby. She can't get in to see an OB until October but she is taking ultrasounds herself at work. She is an RN. He texted me a pic of the recent ultrasound last night. I just pray it will be healthy.

Fatmad is back at work so she must be busy. Miss you when you aren't checking in Mad.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Trish I do well for a few days and weight drops down then I have a bad day and I lose all my progress and have to lose the same pounds over again. That is very frustrating for me. I am still working on dealing with my overeating. I am doing well with waiting until I'm hungry to eat, but once I start I am not good at knowing when I'm satisfied. I need to work on that with taking small bites and chewing well. That slows me down and lets my appetite catch up.

Another thing I have to do is wait until I'm hungry to eat again. DH eats every few hours and I have to be careful not to join in. I used to eat like him and that's why I never knew what hunger felt like. I get emails about this, and the one today said that when you wait until you are hungry you learn to tolerate a little discomfort. Sometimes I eat because I'm afraid I will get hungry but now I'm learning that hunger isn't so terrible. Food is only as far away as the kitchen.

I have to buy some more popcorn. We buy it from DGS when he sells it for the boy scouts but it won't be here til October. So I need some to hold us over. We only have it about once a month but DH always has other snacks. He is the snack master.

pattygirl63 08-28-2020 08:47 PM

Carol Sue I also have the problem of eating because I'm afraid I will get hungry before it is time to eat again. I think that is why I'm stuck with doing 16/8 IF Ratio. I had a 2 pt Premier chocolate protein shake and 2 pt serving of a cheddar popcorn DH bought at Sam's. It was so much easier to eat half a serving of the ready made rather than get the air-popper out to make the 0 pt popcorn. Makes me feel lazy. I don't know what ever happened to make me afraid of feeling hungry. I think I did better when I followed IE because I was aware that hunger pangs are a good thing not a bad one.

Because I didn't take the time to make Air-popped popcorn, I ended with 2 pts to roll over instead of 4 today but I did do the 8 hr window.

Sometimes I think I should go back to just doing IE and learn to endure hunger pangs. Carol Sue, we have come a long way. We will do this. We just have to keep on and we will eventually be successful. I remember hearing years ago how a missile works. It doesn't go straight to its target, but it zig zags and it will always hit its target. I just have to believe that is what happens with us. We make some zig zags but we will hit our target.

Wannabehealthy 08-29-2020 06:08 AM

Trish, WW is working better for you than anything you've done before so why do you want to change? I think you should continue it but do IE with it. WW tells you what and how much to eat and IE tells you when to eat and when to stop. Just don't think about foods you could eat because still having points left. The points you don't eat represent lbs you will lose it you don't eat them. You can eat them if you get hungry but if not just throw them away. You get new points the next day. When I dieted years ago I used to tell myself "If I don't eat that food I'm craving my Wt will be down tomorrow." And that kept me from snacking when I wasn't hungry. It was worth it when the weight was down the next day. I am trying to do that now, too.

Having said that, I'm up .6 to 191.4. It's a bounce and I can get rid of it tomorrow. It's up to me. The good news is I had leg pain yesterday and took the MCT oil at bedtime and the leg pain is gone. I don't know if it's a fluke or not. It does not make sense at all. But it feels so good to get up and walk with no pain.

I want to clean today, especially since my legs don't hurt. I also have a zucchini I want to use for zucchini bread and some apples I want to use for Apple pie. I wanted to eat the apples but they spike blood sugar.

pattygirl63 08-29-2020 02:45 PM

Carol Sue So glad that the MCT oil helped with the leg pain. I gave my MCT oil to BIL when he and baby sister came by to get the keto foods I gave her.

I agree with you about the IE/WW combo. I believe I can also do it with the IF. At least I'm still going to give it a shot. Since I seem to be more inclined to eat in the evening because of saying up so late with DH, I've decided to fast until noon. I did get hungry around 12:30 so I had some fruit. I am going to pan fry some chicken legs for dinner and ad some veggies etc around them. The legs will cost me some points but now as much as KFC fried. Then I will have something around 7 or 8 and that will keep me between 8 hr eating window.

My weight is stuck at 192.6 but my FBG was 100. My first goal was to get my bs reversed and I have accomplished that so I am happy about that. I started to go back to the Blue plan but would really like to give this Purple plan a real chance because I don't have to think in terms of so many pts. WW tells you to give it 2 weeks so I will do that. For one thing I am eating so many more veggies and fiber foods and less diet and junk foods which has got to be better. Also I think I just might go back to using 0% Fat milk. It is 3 pts for some reason and I usually have the pts to use for it. I'm just not big on nut milks.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday. My heart goes out to those who are dealing with the aftermath of that horrible hurricane. We are having high temps in the 100s. Yesterday was 105 and we are in for at least 5 more days like that. We will be staying inside.

Wannabehealthy 08-29-2020 05:21 PM

I didn't eat a lot today but they weren't the best choices. My IE is not about choices but I try. I had eggs with vegetables for breakfast. Then I baked a delicious zucchini bread for DH and a slice of that was lunch. I can't eat any more of that. Then I took a 3 hour nap. When I got up DH went for a pizza so that was dinner. I have to be careful not to eat another bite today.

I feel bad for the people affected by Laura and also the fires in California. I can't imagine losing my home and everything I own.

Wannabehealthy 08-30-2020 10:56 AM

Well, my weight didn't go down. I'm up .2 to 191.6. I didn't eat any more yesterday but I know I had too many carbs for me. The pizza was good, though. I ate one slice but they are but with thick ctust. Yummy.

I just read online that my brothers first wife passed away 2 weeks ago from covid 19. I didn't know she was in a nursing home. I didnt keep in touch with her or her family but she was a good, caring person. I'm sad that she passed especially from covid. May she rest in peace.

I slept good last night and Fitbit agrees. DH tell asleep so I turned his tv off. Next time I woke up it was on again but he wasn't watching it. I like dark when I sleep. He likes background noise. I made him turn it off.

Step son and wife went to the casino last night. I wonder how they did. Saturday night is crowded. We went that one Friday and DH didn't like the crowd. We are back to Thursday. I just go along with the program.

pattygirl63 08-30-2020 12:41 PM

Carol Sue You are doing good with only a .2 gain. You actually beat me this time. I got too cocky and I am up to 193.6 this morning. I congratulate you for doing so well. I am so sorry about your SIL. It is a shame no one let you know. Did she live in PA?

I went crazy last night with my eating and have no way of knowing how many pts I used up out of my weekly. I guess the blessing is that I had built up 35 so hopefully I only used up the 7 roll over pts and still have most if not all my usual 28 pts I get each week. I'm not sure it is good it is all that good to roll over so many pts instead of using them. The really good thing is that my FBG was 93 again this morning. I think that makes twice this past week that I had a 93 reading. So it is time to get my act together.

I've decided to go back to eating my favorite breakfast because I enjoy it. No banana this morning because I am out of them. I had my 2 eggs, bacon and toast with my SF Smucker's jam. I always use spray oils to cook my eggs and on my toast. Today I will cook eggs since it is Sunday an I will make myself an egg salad and cook regular breakfast for DH.

I have some good ideas for cooking meals that DH and I can eat. I need to go to the local store tomorrow because I like their ground turkey and it is 0 pts. I want to make some spaghetti sauce with it and my spaghetti pasta is also 0 pts. DH will eat that. I also want to get the stuff to make some good Chinese low pt meals. DH likes that. So I'm beginning to think of some things I can cook that pleases both of us and that are healthy too. He like tilapia so I decided that I could buy some of the fish that I do like and cook the tilapia for him and make another kind that I like. I watched one woman who made a chicken breast with the coating she could have on WW and then did her DH the way he would like it and cooked them together in the same pan. So I just need to start learning how to make changes that are healthy for both of us. I am not going to gain weight. I am going to do whatever it takes to get this weight off.

Have a good day everybody.

Wannabehealthy 08-30-2020 01:21 PM

I had eggs and 1 slice of toast for breakfast. I had nothing for lunch. For dinner I want to go to Bob Evans. They have small meals and some under $10. Step daughter will never go there again because she and her DH are big eaters and didn't like the small portions. They are perfect for DH and I. I could also order breakfast for dinner there, but DH doesn't like when people do that. He thinks certain foods are for certain meals. Silly man! I can eat anything at any time. Whatever I'm hungry for.

I also want to go to Goodwill and Wal-Mart even though I hate Wal-Mart on weekends. It might not be too bad later in the day.

Confirmed loss in danger!

Last year July and August were my best months. This year I am hanging on by my fingernails to maintain. Still in my holding pattern and really trying to get my weight to drop. I am eating less and exercising more than I did last year at this time. It is not making a difference - not even in non-scale measurements. I have even dusted off my food log so I can log properly instead of my daily calorie tally. So far, that hasn't made a difference either.

In addition, I am writing down what I plan to eat a head of time. When the time comes, I still divert off course usually because my body is fibbing to me. Telling me it is hungry when I've already had plenty. The times I was the most hungry yesterday were 30 minutes after I finished my proper meals. My body should have been registering that it was full but clearly didn't. And it was telling me to eat sugary things! In addition, my fatigue is getting worse. UGH! I kept telling myself I am one more program tweak away from seeing results. Let's hope it is true. As of today, I am facing a gain for the month. I have two days to tip the balance the other way.

Pipsicle, I know how you feel. I checked back to March of this year, 6 months ago, and I was bouncing between 189 and 190, just like I am now. :?: Not happy, but what can I do, except keep trying. I agree it is very frustrating.

We went out to eat and I had fish and cold slaw.

Trish, my ex sil lived about 10 miles from me. It was a bitter divorce and my brother did very hurtful things that I didn't approve of. We were cordial if we saw each other but it's been years. She came when my other brother passed away. I wouldn't expect them to notify me. The funeral and visitation was limited due to the virus. I'm just glad I saw it soon enough to send a card to her daughter.

pattygirl63 08-30-2020 07:11 PM

Well, I switched back to the Green Plan. I've decided that I shouldn't have 300 foods that are 0 pts. The Green Plan has only 100 foods that are 0 pts. They are fruits and non-starchy vegetables. I have to count the pts in all the other foods.

Then I went on YouTube and watched a woman who had just switched from Blue Plan to Green Plan. She said she thought that having so many 0 pts foods was keeping her from losing weight. She had not lost any weight in 3 weeks. That sounded familiar to me. And then she said that she had slipped back into her old habit of being hungry after 7 on the Blue plan. She sounded so much like what I am going through of late that it was easy for me to switch back to green. I get 30 pts but that doesn't mean that I have to use all them although I might depending on what I decide to eat each day. Hopefully I will start losing weight again. I think it would even be easy for me to eat less carbs too if I decide too.

Pipsicle I hope you will be able to break you and I both will be able to get our weight moving downward again.

Carol Sue I too am glad you were able to send a card to your niece. We don't think we have a Bob Evans here.

Wannabehealthy 08-31-2020 09:02 AM

Trish, I looked up Bob Evans and it looked like it's only in the Mid West and Mid Atlantic.

I am back down to 190.2. I don't know how. When I tracked my calories they were 1400. And I only drank 1 bottle of water. There's no rhyme or reason to why I gain or lose. The fish I had was big, and it was breaded and fried. We didn't go to Bob Evans. We went to Eat and Park. I know you don't have that. It is a Pittsburgh thing. It is a 24 hour diner type, but they are no longer overnight since the pandemic started. They have a big soup and salad bar that is now closed. Many people went there for the salad bar. But they now have Endless Soup and Salad. They will bring you all the soup and salad you want for $7.99. But I don't know if it includes all the things on the salad bar. That is also where we used to go for the Breakfast Buffet which is now closed.p

I think I could easily overeat on 300 0 points foods. I would also overeat if I ate all the points. I used to lose as long as I stayed below 1500 calories but during the past few months I have been 1000-1200. Then I have occasional higher days and that's when I bounce back up. My metabolism has slowed I think.

I got up at 8 am but I was awake from 1am to 4am. Tossing and turning. Sometimes lack of sleep makes me overeat.

pattygirl63 08-31-2020 02:06 PM

Carol Sue Glad your weight is back down to 190.2. I found 2 super groups on FB doing WW Green plan and I learned a lot on there. In fact, I had planned to go to bed earlier but got into reading and sharing on the groups. One is more of a general support group and the other one is for those of us over 60. I like both of them so far. Any way one person asked the group about how much you should be losing etc. She had only lost .6 lbs in quite some time and wondered if she was doing something wrong. I loved the answer some of them gave. I started to copy one of them and share here but wasn't sure that is allowed either there or here.

I learned that on WW that you should lose on average between .2 - 2 lbs a week. I also learned that sometime you will gain and sometimes you will lose. Sometime you won't lose at all. That is just how we lose weight. However, I was assured that if you stick with the plan even if you fall off the wagon from time to time that you will lose weight. I also learned that some times you will use all or less of the points allowed but that you should eat enough so that you will lose weight as it is just as important to eat enough as it is not to eat too much. I think that is where "mindful" eating comes in.

This morning my weight is back down to 192.4 and FBG was 109 which is still within the normal glucose reading. I am thrilled about both.

I got busy this morning on phone with DS and ended up not having time to cook. I needed to eat something since DH and I are going to the local store when he gets up. I wanted him to go with me because I no longer can carry a watermelon and I want to get one. I ended up having 1 pt for breakfast which was 1 mozzarella string cheese and an apple. We are getting McDs today so I am going to switch to a CB which is 10 pts and will add my 0 veggies to it when I get home and I will pick up a bag of baked potato chips and have an oz of those for 3 pts instead of spending 5 pts for half serving of medium McD fries. I don't like the Almond milk but like the 1 pt instead of 3 for 0 fat milk so I will keep it. So I will still have 14 pts for dinner. I can have sandwiches which I love and I also like the Lite & Fit Greek flavored yogurts which are 2 pts and I can make a sandwich for 3 or 4 pts for dinner which will come to 5 or 6 pts and still leave unused pts. However, not sure I will do that tonight since I'm having a CB for lunch. The main thing is I can eat healthy, eat what I like and still don't have to use all the pts and lose weight at the same time. I learned the Green plan is the old WW plan before they started all the other plans. That means this is the one that I did and lost weight on years ago in SC.

I have some great ideas for some good meals next week including making an angel food cake for 7 pts servings of 12 slices which many make into 24 slices for half that amount. Great healthy possibilities but most pts accounted for.

Hope everybody has a great day.

Wannabehealthy 08-31-2020 07:00 PM

Trish,I've heard of not eating enough to lose but I don't think there is ever a time when I don't eat enough. LOL

I think the time that I lost on WW I was doing Blue because I remember I had 23 points. I did it low carb. I was doing well as long as I went to the meetings but I didn't like our leader. I was unable to stick to it without the meetings. The first time I went it was the old old plan before points. You had to eat fish 5 times a week. Lots of tuna. It cost $1 a week. I think that was 1972. I liked that leader but I gained that time.
