Trish, this just convinces me more that you were meant to move back to Texas. These young people need you and they bring purpose to your life. If you were still in SC you would be all alone.

I'm up to 192.6. Now I'm MAD!! My belly was blown up like a balloon last night. I don't know why. I think something gave me gas. It's back down now but not the scale.

I haven't been to Wal-Mart or anywhere for several days. I need so many things but I won't be buying any meat or veggies until my freezer gets lower. I see some things in there that need to be tossed. I see some soy burgers I bought to try. Baco Burgers. No one is going to eat them. And also some Steak umms. DH likes them for a while then got tired of them. Garbage day is Tuesday so I will get all that stuff pulled out by Monday night. I will be so happy to have that freezer all cleaned out. Then I can start on the one downstairs. That is mostly vegetables. Sometimes I think it multiplies overnight. I don't ever want to do this again.

I just realized I have a lot of canned goods too. When this pandemic started they scared me, telling us we needed to have 3 weeks of food on hand. There were shortages and I was afraid we would not be able to get food. Most of the canned food will keep though. But I need to sort it out and see what's there.

We just aren't eating as much. DH has lost weight. He doesnt tell me but he hasn't eaten breakfast all week and is eating less at dinner. I can see a difference on him.

The President is having a rally in our area tonight. People are already there this morning. I wonder if we will have a surge of carnivorous after this. You know there will be no masks or social distancing. It is 20 miles from here.

fatmad 09-03-2020 09:11 AM

I didn't weigh this am. I ate 2MAD yesterday, normal meals, but avoided snacking/overeating.
I had the konjac noodles for spaghetti last night, and I seem to hold onto fluids when I do that, so I decided to avoid weighing and feeling down about it.
I will fast or do OMAD today.
Slept well last night, (10 hrs!) without meds, except my usual melatonin and CBD oil.
I am getting to sleep well and usually sleep well, but sometimes not long enough, but this was the opposite. I was woken by a page after 8 am! amazing.

Trish, hope things work out with your niece and nephew.
Carol: easier for you to stick to plan if DH is eating less and doing better.
Hope the bloat goes away ASAP

pattygirl63 09-03-2020 03:05 PM

Carol Sue Sorry about the bump up. I hate those because it takes me so long to get back down. I hope you can get things working for you. Sounds like something you ate caused the bloating and sad you don't know what it was so you could know if you need to cut back on it.

Fatmad Sounds like you are getting your sleep these days. That is really good. I'm glad you got some good rest.

WI today was 190.8 making my total loss 16.6 instead of the 17.2 I had before. FBG is staying between 103 and 104 so that is good.

My niece does some fasting too. Some of her fasts are not eating certain carb foods. She says she takes 1 week off of dieting once in a while to give her body the chance to reset her metabolism. It must be working as she says she has lost 80 something lbs. She still has a lot to lose. I'm proud of her.

I decided to use the Joseph's Flax flat bread that is 1 pt for half of of one and I added 1 sl bacon 1 scrambled egg and 1 sl Velveeta cheese and make myself a 5 pt taquito for breakfast. I saved it as a quick My Food with a note that I can cut out the bacon sometimes and use 2 or 3 slices of Jones Farm's Canadian bacon in its place for a change and still cost me only 5 pts for breakfast. That way I can always have a 5 pt breakfast. That leaves me 25 pts to eat meals the rest of the day. I still want to keep meals between no more than 8 hrs.

Today I am going to try making a steak stir-fry type dish and add it to the left over brown rice with some veggies and we can have a home made meal similar to a Chinese dish for lunch. Don't know if I'll add a salad or not. For dinner I can have a 2 pt yogurt dish with banana and may even have a Premiere Protein drink along with it for the protein. Niece told me about a powdered collegian she adds to her coffee or drink to add protein that I am going to see if I can find next time I go to Walmart.

Have a nice day everybody.

Hello Everyone. I was recently told I was high risk for Pre-Diabetes so I decided that I need to get my butt in gear and slow this train down!. With other health issues I dont want to continue down this road. I look forward to reading and sharing.

Wannabehealthy 09-03-2020 09:06 PM

Hi Shaybelle. Welcome to our thread. Now is the time to do something about your diagnosis of pre diabetes, before it goes further. I wish I had known about mine before it became full blown diabetes.

I really like your quote by Jim Wendler. I need to do it instead of talking about it.

I hope you will join in our discussions. We tend to get long winded and sometimes personal, but feel free to comment and question.

Wannabehealthy 09-03-2020 09:12 PM

Trish, I've been really off the rails the past few days, eating sweets and candy. So my issues could have been from that. It's stuff I don't usually have.

Bad day at the casino. DH says we 'll have to quit going. Ha ha ha ha ha!! When donkeys fly!

He already went to bed so I'll join him.

G'night!

Wannabehealthy 09-04-2020 08:27 AM

My scale reads 194.2. I don't know how that's possible because casino day is when we barely eat all day since the buffet is closed. Later on I will reset my scale and see what happens. If this is correct I am up 2 lbs overnight and I'm going to get my mouth sewn shut!

Well, I reset the scale then it showed 196.8. Waited a few minutes and it showed 193.2. Tried 3 more times and it stayed at 193.2 so that's what I'm accepting.

Shaybelle 09-04-2020 11:53 AM

Carol - I should try that. Just bang on the scale and see if the numbers change.

Me on the other hand I had a my first fast day yesterday and it was ok but I had to eat to take meds and then hunger hit me. I had to keep telling myself if you really want it you can have it tomorrow. I talked myself to sleep that way and then when I woke up I wasnt as hungry as last night but it was like i couldnt figure out what to eat. I had to remind myself that I could eat normally today. smh. We'll see how today goes of "eating normally".

pattygirl63 09-04-2020 12:10 PM

Shaybelle What a pretty name. :welcome3: to our group. Yes it is good to get things under control before you become a full blown diabetic. You can get it back down into the normal range but I have to also say that if you don't make your new way of eating to get their a lifestyle way of eating instead of just a diet to get it under control, you won't keep it down. You can reverse it but it won't be gone forever. I know that from experience. I've had diabetes and lost weight etc to get it back into normal range and then went back to my old ways of eating and when I gained my weight back the diabetes came back too and usually worse. I've been blessed not to have numbers any higher than lower 200s but DH 1st wife who died from diabetic complications had really extremely high numbers. Now I am working at finding a lifestyle way of eating to keep my numbers normal. I just learned that normal is 70 to 110. Mine was normal the last 2 times I had blood work done. That has come about since I got on WW. Some do it other ways but I have finally learned how to eat to lose weight which is slow but the bonus is my FBG runs about 103 to 104 lately and I've seen 93 a couple of times lately and that is what my glucose was at my last lab tests. I am working to get it even lower if I can but not sure if I will be able to, but giving it my best shot.

So my point is that it can be done. I hope you will stick around and get to know us and let us get to know you. Good luck on your journey. I love your little footnotes. Very encouraging.

pattygirl63 09-04-2020 12:26 PM

Carol Sue I don't know if you remember that happening to my scales a couple of times recently. The scales I had before these messed up after we moved to TX and I figured they must have gotten banged around or something in the move plus they were about 10 yrs old. These were not supposed to have to be reset like some are and they are only about 2 yrs old and I don't know if the weather change is the cause of them acting up or not. I had that happen to mine again last week so I never knew if my weight is really right but it finally settled down so I went with what it finally stayed on. When it is working right, the weight it gives you is the same every time you get on it. But when it is messing up, it weighs all over the place.

Our weather has changed drastically all of a sudden. We were in 3 digits for about 5 days and suddenly we got a cold front with rain every day and things have really cooled down a lot after those high numbers. I remember going through Indian summers here in Central TX as a young girl and going from shorts one day to sweaters in the morning and wearing shorts in the afternoon while temps were shifting. We haven't had a September like this since I moved here in 2016. All this rain and cold mornings makes me want to stay in bed which is not me. I didn't get up until 9:33 and I have been going to bed around midnight since the kids left. They wore this 77 yr old woman out. LOL

I agree with you your DH won't stop going to the casino. He was reacting to a bad day. Sorry your weight went up... if it is up. It could be the scales.

My weight this morning was down to 190.6 so down .2 lb. FBG same as yesterday 103. I didn't care for my make shift Chinese dinner I cooked yesterday. So I think I will look for a low pt. processed Chinese meal to cook. We used to eat those when I did WW in SC. The thing is I used to get things at Food Lion in SC that we don't seem to have here plus some of WW Smart Pts have changed. Today I'm using lean ground turkey meat to make spaghetti. My spaghetti is 5 pts but I will have to go to Aldi's and buy theirs because theirs is less pts. I have planned the meal for my pts and I had 4 pts for breakfast and spaghetti meal will be 1 pts so I will have 15 pts left after lunch.

Hope everybody has a good day.

Wannabehealthy 09-04-2020 02:24 PM

Trish, why is Aldis spaghetti fewer points? I use vermicelli as it is said to be less starchy than thicker spaghetti.

This scale I use needs to be reset occasionally because it is bluetooth . That's my excuse, anyway!! Normally it is the same no matter how many times I get on it.

I did some exercise while watching my soaps. I rode my bike for 15 minutes, did 3 sets of 10 squats, 100 leg pushes and 5 minutes on the treadmill. I wanted to do more on the treadmill but I have to get ready for Texas Roadhouse. I'm going to have shrimp. I might do the treadmill when I come home. There for a while I was walking 15 minutes after dinner and that helped blood sugar.

Shaybelle, I read back and noticed that you said you were at risk for pre diabetes but not there yet. That's good. You can avoid it altogether.

I do intermittent fasting most days from after dinner to late breakfast the next day. I used to do ADF and it worked well for me but interferes with my eating schedule with DH. I wouldn't mind doing it once in a while.

Have to go getready!

pattygirl63 09-04-2020 02:54 PM

Carol Sue I'm not sure about the Aldi spaghetti. I think from what they say it depends on what is in the food. I know they tell me about some foods that I go look up and it doesn't seem as low as they say so when I go to Aldi's to get some of the foods I want, I will scan it for myself. I don't trust what they tell me. I also saw some of them complaining that the scanner is not always right with what is on WW or the box sometimes so I am finding that it is easier to scan myself. I think that is why so many write the # of pts on the packages once they know it. I will be doing that too. I scanned the box of spaghetti I am using and it showed pts for uncooked. Then I went on WW online and typed it in and it showed it cooked. I went with the 2 pts for the cooked rather than the 5 for uncooked. Is it right? I have no idea. Kind of reminds me of the differences we saw on calories on MFP. That's why I don't use weekly or exercise pts and some others don't use them either.

You are doing good with your exercise. I finally got back on my bike today and did 25 minutes. I did a lot of exercise yesterday with cleaning etc getting my house back in order and so I've already done about half of my exercise for this week already and this is just D2 for this week. I want to work my bike exercise back up to the 30 minutes 5 or 6 days a week that I did when I first moved here and before Daddy got sick. I also do calisthenics about 15 minutes a day which includes the core exercises the therapist taught DH so if I can get that going regularly, I will have 45 minutes of formal exercise besides the housework etc that I do. I liked to have never got my stationary bike back to where I could turn the wheels. Those little stink great nephews had played on it and tightened it up to the place that I don't even think their Daddy could have turned it. LOL I don't usually let kids play on it but they were wild as a march hare and we couldn't put them in the backyard because it was raining. Come to find out their Mom lets them run and play in the rain.

Any way glad we are back to our exercise routine.

Shaybelle 09-04-2020 03:59 PM

Hi Pattygirl63. :D

Well I had went to the doc originally because I was feeling woozy and a nap after eating carby meals like oatmeal or grits. Then would have to take a nap. So i wanted to make sure I wasnt becoming diabetic. She said no but I'm a few numbers from pre diabetes. That kind of scared me. You know in the back of your mind you need to get your life together and lose some weight but you put it off. Then its like a kick in the gut when they say its harming you. So basically with my doc its been all these measure to get me sleeping well and eating and moving. So I have a cpap machine now. I have cannabis for chronic pain and so basically she just took all my excuses of why i couldnt go on a weight loss program now. So ...here I am. I refuse to go into my 50s sickly. So that gives me a year and 2 weeks to get my body weight down.

Wannabehealthy 09-04-2020 05:33 PM

I feel so much better after doing my exercise. I don't know why I don't get myself down there and do it every day.

I had salmon instead of the shrimp. Very tasty and I don't feel stuffed. I had a salad and green beans for my sides so no potato. DH had steak kabobs. The meat was tender and tasty but too much seasoning. We are not big on seasoning.

So maybe I will walk on my treadmill for a bit.

pattygirl63 09-04-2020 08:51 PM

Shaybelle That sounds like me. I didn't have insurance until I got on Social Security and was old enough to get Medicare so I could go to the doctor. I went to the doctor and told him that I thought my blood sugar was going up again. It wasn't high but it was high enough for pre-diabetic although I've never had a doc to call it pre-diabetic. Some doctors don't use that term and I've never had one to use the term yet. That is probably good for me because of my personality I might have not tried so hard to get it normal. It has taken me forever to do it. However, I've seen diseases in my family that I don't want so I work hard at being healthier than they were.

Carol Sue I have the same problem with exercise. I just have a difficult time making myself do it regularly. I do hope I can change that.

Turns out that WW did count my spaghetti pasta as 5 pts even though I had used the 2 pts. Then I had a small helping of Quinoa, shrimp and a 2 pt double cheese mixed together and then my usual Greek yogurt with a banana, I have ended the day with 2 pts to rollover to tomorrow. However, I'm not stuffed but satisfied and I ate it all within my 8 hr eating window. So it has been a good day for me.
