I was really cold last evening, couldn't get warm, even wore PJs to bed and used both covers, and even snuggled up to DH. (couldn't use the hot tub, cold rain and windy outside) Not my usual hotter self. I think I may have been getting a fever as I now seem to have an ear infection. Haven't had one of those in many years. Don't know where that came from.
At 60 hrs of fasting now, and plan to break my fast at lunchtime. weight is not down much, just hovering still at 159, but waist is down at 35 inches. It may go up again with food, that is filling up my gut again, but this makes all things seem possible. And I often have a weight loss the day after a fast after eating. The scale isn't the only thing though, and I plan to eat 2mad for the rest of the week, as its my birthday. DH and I decided on a Movie weekend. Since I am off call, its a good chance to go to the theatre and see some films we have been wanting to see. We are also going out to eat, and will preorder Peking Duck for my birthday supper. All very exciting. DD and her fella will come for that. My sister will come on Sunday for the movie that day. We decided on A Star is Born, Bohemian Rhapsody and First Man. Any other recommendations? Enjoy your day. |
Wt 194 FBG 187. I'm blaming that on the potato chips I ate last night. I bought some wine yesterday. I bought Pinot Noir because when I checked online it was one of the ones highest in Resveratrol. I like dry wine and this one is very dry. I'm not crazy about red wine. I usually mix it in diet ginger ale, but last night I had some straight. It doesn't seem that it did anything, but I only had a very tiny bit. I'm not sure how it would mix with my meds. Some of them say "no alcohol." I also bought a bottle of Chablis, which is white, and my favorite wine for drinking.
Happy Birthday, Mad! Hope you enjoy your birthday week! We don't do movies so I can't suggest any. I think the last time we went to a movie was Titanic. LOL First off, we don't agree on what to see, and since I got this chronic cough I disturb everyone. I don't miss it. Trish, you reminded me that I have not had any leg cramps for over a week or so. I didn't notice it on my own. All this week the news has been about the mass shooting at the synagogue in Pittsburgh. They interviewed one man who said he would have been there but his wife was sick and wanted him to stay home with her. Then another man said he was late leaving the house. He showed up at the synagogue and when pulling into a parking spot a man came up to his car and told him he should leave because there was an active shooter there. As he pulled away, he heard gunfire and saw the police arriving. It's amazing how some people's lives take a turn and they avoid a catastrophe somehow. On Saturday morning when I heard their was a shooting at a synagogue I thought it was just someone shooting outside, as that goes on in Pittsburgh day and night. The more I listened to the broadcast I found out what a terrible incident it was. The ones that effected me the most was the elderly couple who were shot and killed. They did not have to see the other killed, and got to leave this earth together. |
I hope you enjoyed your wine Carol, I usually have cider if I am drinking these days, although wine with supper is also ok. I can't have beer anymore (gluten).
Ear is a bit better, and haven't had tylenol since 2 am. My neighbour who is type 2 diabetic is coming over to discuss how I managed my digestive issues and found out I am coeliac. She has a young family, so IF and EF and even elimination diets may be difficult for her. Poor woman has been having all kinds of health issues this year. She was bit by a dog and is still, 6 months later having issues with the hand and arm where the bite was. She will likely have to sue to get re-imbursed. Now the gut issues. and Type 2 already in her 30s. Through this she is top of her class in her Early Childhood Educator course. I really admire her. She is a good mama to her boys and a good neighbour too. I am so happy we moved back to this community. I can't wait for the kids to come trick or treating tonight. I had my chicken salad for lunch, and a few raspberries and cream for dessert. The small dish of raspberries was enough, I really didn't want more to eat after that so DH finished the berries off. There are not good for long, must be eaten quickly. I am going to do my baking today. I am supposed to fast again tomorrow, last day of fasting for the week, so i will make my birthday cake and an apple crisp tonight. Yes, I know, making my own cake, but this gluten free hazelnut cake is complicated and DH doesn't bake anyhow. At least this way I get what I want. Hope you are having a good day with your Dad Trish, I think you said you were going today. |
fatmad Happy birthday week. It is great that family is celebrating you. We watch movies either on tv or from DH collection of dvds. We used to buy new movies as soon as they came out but we don't even do that any more. I don't even know what new movies are even out there any more.
Carol Sue I tried drinking red wine bc DH uses it and drinks it in unsweetened seltzer water. I always drink a small amount straight and get it over with because I don't really like it. It is like taking medicine for me. The Hellers always said drink it with food, but I can never remember to drink it with or without a meal. DH will remind me but I don't eat anything after dinner and afraid to just drink it on an empty stomach. I never could tell if it helps me or not. It may be another one of those things I don't do long enough for it to work. I was surprised with a weight of 216.8 lbs this morning. I have ended the month of October with a 4.4 lb loss. I am so excited with that even if it is recycled lbs, I will take it. My FBS is 3 pts higher than on October 1st which isn't unusual when I am losing. October 1 it was 150 and today 153. It has really bounced around this month. However, I remember the diabetic educator and dietician told me not to worry about that as it would work out. Now that I am on an IF routine and working at getting exercise back in my routine, I hope November will end much better than today. Last night I was getting up slowly going to the potty and DH asked me, "What are we going to be like in 5 yrs if we are like this now?" I told him that I am going to be getting around better hopefully. I've improved my health in the past when I was in worse shape than now, so I am going to work toward that this time. There was a time when I worked at it just on the words of the Health Store Owner I worked for who told me "never forget, there isn't anything that can't be cured if you only knew how to do it". Well, today I have not only past experience behind me doing just what I knew to do which was sometimes questionable, but now I have Dr. Fung's info and others who have the same info that show that we can make improvements to our health. I believe it takes knowledge of what to do and then do it in faith that it will work and you have just won half the battle. I did do 20 minutes on the bike today and I will do 20 again tomorrow so that I will end the week with 4 days on the bike. I would like to work up to more, but I am pleased with what I've done. Of course, Saturday is my WI day and the beginning of my 2nd week back OP. |
Trish, I would just as well not drink the wine either, but I wanted to buy it to see if it would lower my FBG. Last night was not a good night to try it though, and it will be hard for me to tell if it lowered blood sugar or if the meds did it. I bought a small bottle to try so it shouldn't last too long. I have some seltzer water. I should try it in that. When I have company over the holidays and everyone is drinking, I will drink the Chablis. I really like that wine, but they laugh at me because I have a very small wine glass I use for myself.
I think it is a good idea to look at the days that you exercise and not the days you do not. Look on the positive. There is no rule that says you HAVE to exercise every day. When you are out and about, shopping and visiting with your Dad you are walking and getting in your exercise. Good for you on the weight loss!!:carrot: |
We ended up getting 9 kids for trick or treat. I think I ate more candy than I passed out!! That was more than we had last year. I don't know where these kids were from unless they were from one of the houses on our street that were sold recently, or maybe from over in the housing plan. There are no kids in our neighborhood. Most of our local neighbors had their lights out. I don't mind giving out the candy as long as the kids are still coming.
|
We didn't have the light on but didn't get any kids any way. I looked out once because neighbors across the street had their lights on, but I didn't see any kids any where. I think so many people are having parties that must have taken care of it. So I've made it through this hurdle without any candy or sweets.
I have made another day without eating at night. I wanted to at one point, but this was a higher calorie day almost 1500 calories and I really didn't want to lose too much ground since I did eat more food than the last 2 days. So I have another successful day behind me. I am happy with how things are going for me right now. Good night Chickie Friends. |
Trish, you did better than Carol and me, I had some of the candy and some chips. Not a crazy amount. DH will take away the leftovers today so I will no cave. Fasting today and will eat supper tomorrow. Ear and throat still bothering me. But only need 1 tylenol at bedtime and one during the night to manage the pain well enough to sleep. I don't seem to have great pain tolerance these days. I thought it might improve now that I don't have chronic pain.
I baked my cake yesterday, its in the fridge waiting to be frosted tomorrow. We decided to go to an early movie, then meet DD and her guy for supper, then we can all come back here for cake, and have a couple of neighbours over for cake as well. The goal will be to enjoy supper, but not overeat so we can still enjoy cake. The advantage of chinese food is that we can bring the leftovers home. Carol: enjoy your chablis, but when it comes to alcohol, only drink on your terms. I support you in that, and Trish, have none unless you want it. Just like "food pushers" people push alcohol too much.Keep to your small glass. I had a neighbour in the country who used to have a small drink to "keep us company" then would suffer with migraines afterward. We always had lots of non-alcoholic drink choices and we were actually able to convince her she really didn't need to have any, and we had more pleasant dinner parties with them afterward. I am not a big drinker, I find it doesn't taste good about halfway through a second glass of wine. For other drinks, I stop when I fell "tipsy" as I don't like the feeling much. And I get sick on it very easily, so the negative reinforcement keeps me from overindulging. I think the last "binge" I had was after my father's funeral back in February. Have had a few drinks since then, but not overdoing it. Wish I could say the same about food. I'm still at the avoidance stage with food. I'm good if I can avoid it, but not so good if its around. Fasting does make it easier though. I will be off call at 8 pm tonight, so that's a week done. A few times over the next month that I and my work team will sub in for each other, but those are for short periods. Sadly, one of them just had a miscarriage. I may sub in for her a bit next week as well. Overall, things are good here, and I hope the same for you all. |
Wt 196 FBG 113.
Mad, my family doesn't encourage me to drink. If I don't drink it, there's more for them! But they do laugh about my tiny little wine glass. The last food pusher was my MIL. Now she's up in Heaven pushing food on everyone. LOL I remember one time she asked me if I wanted pie. I said "No, thank you." She cut it and put it in front of me. I just left it sit there. When we were getting up to leave she said "You didn't eat your pie." I said "Oh, I told you I didn't want any." Anytime anyone came to her house she would pull out all this food. DH said some of it was really old. She said "People will say they don't want any, but if you put it out they will eat it." If someone tried to get me to eat things, I become more determined not to. My step-son and his wife are big drinkers, and so are her parents. When we go to their house they always want me to try some new drink they have. I tried some "Truly" at their house and told them it was good, so the next time they came to our house they brought me a 6 pack. I think I drank one bottle of it. The other 5 are still there. I hope they don't see it. I might have to tell them I bought more. It is Sparkling water with alcohol in it. I'm not sure what the alcohol is. And it has different flavors. The one I have is grapefruit. Alcohol is not my first choice to drink. |
Maybe as food-aholics we don't tend toward alcohol. Food is my drug of choice. No problem over-indulging there!

Well weight was up almost 1 lb this morning, but a lot of sodium yesterday and had too much today too so not sure how that will turn out. I won't check weight or FBS in the morning since I get up early to go to beauty shop. No since upsetting myself. My FBS was 148 this morning so that was good.
I ended up with a 2 meals and a snack today. I really didn't feel very well today and we had to go to Sam's and Walmart and I was dragging the whole day. So we stopped for KFC and DH wants the leftovers tomorrow. Going to store and then Daddy wants a BBQ sandwich so I'll get him one of those at a local restaurant and go see him for a bit before coming home. I will do my best to stay OP tomorrow since Saturday is my WI. Headed to bed so I will catch y'all tomorrow evening. Y'all have a good nights sleep and good day tomorrow. |
Wt 197 FBG 182 Everything UP today. I have been bouncing between 194 and 197 all month. Upticks no longer upset me because I realize that fluid and hormones can cause these fluctuations, and they are not fat gain. But I really do want to be in the 180s by Christmas, so I need to get serious. I have been eating the past few days, which is part of my plan to increase my metabolism and the book said to expect an uptick for a while. I checked my body temp and it's at 98.3 which indicated an increase over the 97.7 I usually am. I would like to go to more of a JUDDD type plan soon as it is meant to keep metabolism from falling. I tend to work at keeping things low every day, and that's not good.
Trish, what is a BBQ sandwich? What is on it? PA doesn't have BBQ. What we call BBQ is very different from BBQ in TX. Restaurants here don't have anything called BBQ. We have Smokey Bones and they are BBQ. We went there once when it first opened and DH didn't like it at all. I like pulled pork but I don't make it because it makes so much and DH won't eat leftovers. I had some leg cramps when I first got up. I think I might be dehydrated. Otherwise, not much pain. We have to go out to Walmart today, and I want to go to Target. I used to like Target, but haven't been going there much recently. I want to look at their turkeys and maybe get one to put in the freezer for TG and see what else they have on sale. Their sale prices are usually very good. I tried the generic diet cola I bought at Aldi's and it's fine, so I will probably continue to buy that. I don't drink it every day like I used to but still want one once in a while. I have been drinking flavored sparkling water and I'm starting to like that more. It's better for me, anyway. |
Carol Sue Daddy likes BBQ sandwiches from Dickey's here in Waco. They have all kinds of barbecue but DH and I felt like it was to greasy. However, I noticed today that different people are managing it. Daddy wanted a sliced beef instead of pulled beef or pork. They put a lot of thick cut sliced beef on a bun and then gave me 2 little side of barbecue sauce. I didn't really look at it but it didn't look like it was anything else on it. I did notice they have ribs. I really didn't pay much attention as to what other foods they have. Daddy liked it but he said he didn't want it again as it was too much for him. I also got him a coke. I try to get him a fountain coke whenever I can as he loves them. Funny thing is that my Daddy and Mama both loved coke and all of us girls like Dr. Peppers.
I forget about Target and Aldi's. I should go there sometime. My weight was up and my FBS was but I took it a lot earlier. I was in a hurry so I found a container of the Slimquick Weight Loss Protein powder that I have and decided to make myself a shake to take with me to drink on my way to the beauty shop. As I read how to make it, I realized that I didn't make it correctly when I used it before. It calls for 2 scoops and make it in water or your favorite drink. So I made a cup of my Pecan coffee and added to 2 scoops with my 1/2 banana and 1/2 c cherry berry blend and mixed it with the Magic Bullet. I bought another can of it when I went to the store and I think in order to eat just OMAD for a while that I am going to drink it for breakfast and dinner. The calories will be less than 200 calories and then have whatever calories I get in our main meal. Hopefully this will keep me from wanting snacks. Tomorrow is WI day. I surely hope I kept my weight loss whether I kept all of it or not so I will have at least a 2 lb weight loss for this week. I watched one of the cases on My 600 lb life the other night. This poor girl was trying to lose just 25 lbs in one month. I felt so sorry for her, because she couldn't lose as much as they told her to lose until they sent out a dietitian. As I watched the dietitian take some of her food out and told her that the light salad dressing etc had too much fat so told her to get the fat free. I thought how I would have a difficult time losing even the 14 lbs she lost the 1st month. For one thing, I quit eating lowfat/fat free because of the high sodium content. It took her about 5 months or more before she did finally lose 60 lbs so the doc would do her surgery. She was happy with her loss, but lived under so much fear afterwards of gaining it back. I hope she makes it. The one thing I thought of watching her story was if she couldn't lose the 25 lbs in 1 month and she weighed over 600 lbs then why do I think I can lose weight quickly. The interesting thing to me is that put her on a 1200 calorie diet as well. Just interesting observation. I don't know if I can or not, but I surely would love to be under 200 lbs by the time I go see the doctor at the end of January. |
You are doing so well with your food, Trish, I think you can be under 200 by the end of January. You seem to stay on plan well.
Dr Nowzarden seems to give all of his patients a 1200 calorie diet of protein and vegetables, with 3 meals and no snacks, not even veggie snacks. He instructs them to have 400 calories at each meal. This one woman was skipping breakfast so she could have a bigger dinner and she was gaining weight. It was her boyfriend who told her she was doing it wrong. They always tell them to watch the fat. It will take you longer than them to lose because they are over 600 lbs. Very obese people lose weight a lot faster. They eat so much to begin with that 1200 calories is very low for them. One woman said that she eats 1200 calories at each meal. Texas Roadhouse has BBQ Ribs and BBQ chicken, but I don't consider that to be a BBQ restaurant. I like their ribs because they literally fall off the bone, but they have ribs at the casino buffet sometimes and they are terrible. They do not fall off the bone. I looked up Dickey's menu. The brisket looks good to me. We don't have any places like that locally, maybe they have them in Pittsburgh. I don't think DH would like it. It was chilly and windy when I was out and now I feel like I'm getting a cold. I will take some Tylenol when I got to bed and maybe ward it off. |
Carol Sue I figure that Dr. Nowzarden has them to eat only 1200 calories because he not only wants them to lose the weight quickly but he wants them to be used to eating less. It just seems to be very drastic for them being so big and having so much to lose.
Although I stayed within 1500 calories, I went way over the sodium and the fat. I will have to get back into a food routine of eating right again. I will get back to my 8:16 tomorrow. I hope all this eating take out hasn't ruined this weeks progress. It is what it is. I need to figure out a balance of food with fiber. I can't eat too much of it but do need some. I do have a tendency to over do on it. I may go back to eating the oats in for breakfast and saving the eggs for evening. I probably need to eat around 1200 calories a day. I've had allergies acting up since we had all that rain, but I haven't taken any medicine for it. Stuffy each evening. I really didn't feel good the past few days and that hasn't helped me make better choices either. I hope you feel better tomorrow. I hope fatmad is feeling better too since she has birthday celebration plans this weekend. Good night. |
