I had to get up early to go beauty shop so FBS reading was taken during higher reading. I ate before I left at 9:30 so everything was off an hour. I'm going to try not eating anything else today so I will have 2MAD.

Looks like we will have to go see Daddy tomorrow since he has dropped his tv remote control and it doesn't seem to work. We have an extra that we bought years ago so will have to take it to him tomorrow if DH can find the codes to get it to work for his tv.

Not much going on here. I am absolutely hating the way I feel doing on this whole foods way of eating. I feel so bloated half the time. I know it is designed to make you feel full all the time and I guess it does that but I hate that feeling. Plus it makes me feel so lethargic. I think I'm going to have to pull back on the carbs. I'm even thinking of doing the CAD 2MAD no snacks again so I can eat low carb for breakfast and balanced at regular meal and I will only take 2 of the pills at a time. I've been on this whole foods way of eating for a week and I've decided if I'm going to feel this way everyday, that I should really cut back on the carbs. Perhaps I should cut back to the 70 carbs a day. Tomorrow is my WI day so I will go back to eating less carbs. I really was eating the plan I saw on line that some one claimed was the one use with these pills, but now that I have the plan, I don't think it is right. Any way I will cut back on the carby foods and see if I feel better. My jeans are feeling tight and I refuse to go back to wearing larger ones. May be it is time to start doing a better job at fasting.

Pipsicle Thanks for the info on the GOLO pills. Yesterday morning after I took the 1st, I felt like I was in a fog for a while and then after the 2nd one I just wanted to sleep, but I think it was probably from coming off the berberine and Blood sugar support pills and switching to the new. However, I really wanted to sleep all evening. I've been following the whole foods way of eating and I think I have over done the carbs because too many carbs can cause me to feel lethargic. Exercise might help too if I would be consistent with it.

So far I've been good about passing up the candy. I did notice more when I walked into Walmart today, but so far I haven't had any desire for any or even tempted. Daddy keeps candy in his room and always offers it to me and I think the fact that I won't eat any because I want to check my bs when I get home has helped me to automatically resist it now. I just hope I can continue to avoid it.

fatmad I am so sorry about your back. I certainly hope it is a very temporary thing. I pulled a muscle in my side last week and it went away about as quick as it appeared. I hope yours will do the same. Congratulations for being back in 150s. It is always fun when others notice your weight loss.

Carol Sue My FBS was up but then I knew it would be at that time of the morning. I hope when the time goes back an hour that my FBS will read better then.

Trish, I googled whole foods and I see there are a couple different versions. Some are all plant food and some include unprocessed meats. What are you eating on it, and what do you think is giving you the bloated feeling? Do you think it might be the appetite suppressant in the GOLO pills that is causing it? How is your DH doing with the pills so far?

Pipsicle, I'm sorry your BS is up. I think you will get it back down again. This is a bad time for candy with Halloween coming. I can pass up most of the candy as there are only a couple that I like. When I want some, I usually just buy a single at the check out rather than buying a bag. When DH stopped smoking he switched to candy. For years it was just hand candy which would never interest me, but now he's buying chocolate and I have to work at limiting myself. I wish I could stay away from it altogether. I do have some dark chocolate I buy at Aldi's and only break of 1 small piece ever few days for the health benefits.

Mad, I'm sorry to hear you hurt your back. I think that can happen no matter how good shape you're in. It's just the way we move sometimes. Hopefully the soaking in the bath will help.

Wt 195 FBG 136.

I guess the uptick on the weight was a fluid fluctuation yesterday. All is good.

I just put 50 stuffed cabbage rolls in the oven and have a pot of haluski (cabbage and noodles) on the stove. Not a scrap of cabbage is wasted! We will be eating the cabbage rolls for a couple days, and share with step daughter.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Pipsicle 10-27-2018 01:07 PM

Well, I have been using my digestive enzyme again but my FBS is still in the pre-diabetic range. Hoping if I cut out the candy, it will drop back to normal. Weight is still up also.

I was just looking back on old posts to see when I started posting in the Diabetes thread. I joined in May 2011 and started posting in Golden Girls in August 2011. But I didn't start posting in the Diabetes thread until January 2013. It was a couple months before I started to blend in with the group. There were so many posters here back then. It's a shame that so many left.

Pipsicle, it will come back down. It takes time. It is like getting a warning that you're doing something you shouldn't be doing. The only way I know of that I can get my blood sugar down to where I want it is to go back to eating an all vegetable dinner. I can do it, but I forget after a while until my blood sugar starts to go back up.

pattygirl63 10-27-2018 02:58 PM

Carol Sue I don't know what the problem is with the diet I was using, but I know I'm not comfortable. Also FBS is up to 177 this morning, but I had stopped the berberine and the Blood Sugar Support pills, but I am adding them back today along with the Release pills. However, my weight was down 2 lbs since my last recording in MFP. So I will make some adjustments.

I took the test in the materials and the results shows me as High Stress. So that tells me why I'm feeling like I do physically. I read that being in a high stress situation that I should take 2 Release pills with 2 meals a day, but that is just too expensive. I will try using the other pills and work at getting my diet and exercise in control. I never found a formula for figuring the BMR fuel plan they use so I went on line and found one on LiveStrong that showed how to figure the calories. Following that formula, it showed that my daily calories should be 1611 calories a day. I personally think that is too high. I just don't understand how that would work to help me lose weight.

I found my Richard Simmons Deal-A-Meal cards out and using their guidance as well as an online guide because we know that having a little more protein and fat is important, I decided to start the 1 week 1000 calories a day kickstart plan and 20 minutes on the bike hopefully 5 or 6 days a week plus work at being more active. As I approach the end of this week, I will decide on a higher daily count to follow.

DH is doing very well. He is taking 2 pills a day and his FBS was 150 this morning. So I am very happy for him.

This GOLO plan: Proteins - dairy, eggs, nuts and seeds and fresh meats. Veggies I assume are what we would call non-starchy. Carbohydrates seems to include, bread, pasta, whole wheat/grains, fruit and beans. Fats are butter, coconut oil, olive oil and unsweetened coconut flakes. Veggies seems to be 1 c servings... 1 serving at breakfast, and 2 at lunch and dinner. You can have 2 proteins meat and fish are 3 oz per serving and the other vary example, 1 serving of nuts is 2 oz. So you have to learn the amount of each of the others. Carbs are 2 at breakfast and 1 for lunch and dinner. Fats are 1 serving for each meal. Another thing that is stressed is to eat real food not diet. My FF dairy and my lowfat condiments probably isn't OP for them.

So that is their plan which I think might be close to what I am doing with the help of my Deal-a-meal/MFP tracking. The MFP will help me keep my calories where I want them to be. I really don't want to eat 1600 calories a day so I will still keep the 1500 calories as a special occasion high day. I might find that my berberine and Blood Sugar Support pills may be all I need when I get back to this way of eating. The Release pills are not a waste of money if it helps DH keep his FBS lower. Dr. wants him to keep A1c at 7 or lower. Adding these pills just might help him do that.

Pipsicle I have always found that when things go up like FBS or weight, it always takes me a little longer to get it back down. I hope this knowledge will help me make wiser decisions about doing something different. And it could just be an adjustment or one of those bounces that works itself in time.
This is where I have to be more attentive and not let it throw me for a loop and derail me. I think it is called patience, which hasn't always helped me with my woe.

fatmad I hope you are feeling okay today. How is your back?

fatmad 10-27-2018 04:30 PM

my back is doing better. I slept some last night, and was ok to work today, but still moving a bit gingerly.
I had codeine yesterday, so worried about constipation, will take some Klearlax today.
Also got some Salonpas pain patches, and will have DH put that on, they do help, and stick better than the drugstore ones.
On plan for eating, and planning some more fasts next week to get the weight down further.
Feeling pretty determined to do this. Realized that its less than a month before my liver ultrasound and blood work, and I want the results to be excellent.

Feeling tired so I am signing off for now.

Wannabehealthy 10-27-2018 04:36 PM

Trish maybe the GOLO plan is what your DH needs but what you have been doing on your own is best for you. You might want to give it more time but if you don't feel good with it I wouldn't blame you for going back to what works.

I am stuffed from halushky.

pattygirl63 10-27-2018 07:52 PM

I am using the idea of the GOLO plan but keeping calories down. My calories for today ended up being 1295 according to MFP. If I have to count something, I might as well use MFP as it make counting the calories etc so much easier. The nice thing about using MFP is that when I went in to track today WI, I found that I had lost 2.4 lbs since my last check in. This always encourages me. I did only 10 minutes on the bike but my light housework during the day will help things a long. I am moving and active.

Carol Sue I'm not going to give up on the plan. It is at least getting me back to eating right whether I continue the pills in the future or not will dependent on how it works for me. If it doesn't make my weight or bs improve any more than it would do without it then I will just purchase it for DH.

The BMR thing I saw on line showed that to maintain my current weight would be over 1900 calories. That shows me why I could never buy into the idea of me eating 1800 calories like my doctors told me to do. To lose 1 lb a month, if I take off 500 calories that is actuall 1400 calories. So my goal is to keep my calories between 1000 and 1200 calories which is exactly what the dietitian suggested to me. So I guess they were right. I will do my best to keep my calories between 1000 & 1400. I don't want to use any of my exercise calories for food.

Day 1 back OP gives me a fairly good start. I forgot to say my eating window today was 6 hrs. YAY!!!

fatmad I'm glad you are feeling better and I hope you continue to improve.

Wannabehealthy 10-27-2018 09:17 PM

As far as calories are concerned I don't think you should eat more than necessary to satisfy your hunger. Only you can decide that number. The diet I got from the hospital said it was 1800 calories but I dont think it was that many. If you personally think you are losing too fast then you could increase calories. I can't imagine anyone thinking they are losing too fast unless they think it's from illness. I just wouldn't eat extra to make it to some pre decided calorie count. You know not to do that.

I agree 100%. I've never liked having a set amount that I had to eat. I don't mind having a limited amount for what I can safely eat without gaining or messing myself up, but it always messed me up when I was told that I had to eat a certain amount. So I think the way I am doing this will be good for me.

fatmad 10-28-2018 08:06 AM

Trish: sorry this way of eating and supplementing isn't agreeing with you, but if its doing well for DH, it may be you can find a way to work through so you can both eat well and the way you want. For me with DH, that often means he adds a starch to the meal. I will have the meat and veg and he makes rice or potatoes to go with. Though I did stead a few of his fries last night.
But I think feeling stuffed and bloated can't be good. Is it the way you are eating or the supplements you think? Hope you work it through to your satisfaction.
Remember too, the concepts you learned with JUDD and what we get from Dr. Fung. Its important to keep your body guessing and don't eat the same calories all the time. If you always eat 1400 calories a day, your body gets used to that, and lowers your BMR to match, and you have to go down further to lose more, and may even have trouble maintaining.
On the Fung plan they are really emphasizing "feasting" not just eating. We are to have delicious nutritious and filling meals and eat well the days we eat. Then a fast for however long. This is different from the basic 2MAD where we would eat normally. This is actually for weight loss and the reason I am pushing the fasting a bit more. I feasted yesterday and will again today, and then do a longer fast. at least 48 hours, but I am hoping to get to 66hrs this time. We will see.
The back is MUCH better today. Slept well with minimal pain meds, no codeine. I am glad to be off that now. I know I only took two tablets, a total of 60 mg (the amount in 2 tylenol 3's) but the constipation is still going on; making me feel bloated and blah in the bowels. The rest of me feels pretty good.
DH has been doing the 2MAD all week. We didn't measure earlier in the week but I think I will measure and weigh him today and see how things go for the next couple of weeks. He is feeling pretty good with it, but hasn't cut carbs or sugars at all though I may be able to convince him to reduce them a bit.
We had a crazy busy work day yesterday, but it was all me helping the other midwives, so today I just have a couple of hours of work to do unless I get called out.
Same for the rest of the week.
As such I am debating about renting a costume for Hallowe'en to wear while giving out treats. I am pretty happy about having all these children around, and since we live in a townhouse development (more houses closer together) we get lots of kids from outside our own place who come. I am planning for 100. (I live in hope) So I feel festive about Hallowe'en for the first time in years. And it will be fun to have something else to think about than the candy itself.
Because of work we didn't get to the farmer's market yesterday, so I have pulled meat from the freezer for today, but will likely have to go out for a couple of other foods to add to the meal. So may as well do that very soon, now the stores have opened.
Have a good day everyone

Wannabehealthy 10-28-2018 10:22 AM

FBS 132 Did not weigh, because I forgot until after I had had coffee and scrambled eggs. Tomorrow is another day.

My stuffed cabbage and haluski turned out great....and I really overate. It will be lunch today and I'm not sure about dinner. I would eat it again but I'm not sure about DH. It is one thing he will eat leftover but I'm not sure if he'll do it again for dinner. I think it's pretty good diet food. It is meat and vegetables, with a little bit of rice. I don't consider the rice to be an issue because it's a cup and a half of rice divided between 50 cabbage rolls. The haluski has noodles..... We also kept some of the stuff from the bottom of the pan. it is cabbage that is used to line the pan under the cabbage rolls and tomatoes, sauce and sauerkraut that is poured over the cabbage rolls while they cook. My Slovak mother in law said it is called Majunka. We usually throw it away, but it really is very tasty.

My legs get a little achy, like slight muscle pain from exercise that I'm not doing, but no real pain for a few days. My wrist has been pretty bad, though. I have not been on the computer a lot. I don't know the reason. My pain meds would help but I don't want to use them for my wrist, since I really need them if feet and legs get bad enough that I have difficulty walking. I wore my wrist support to bed last night and it helped a little. This was really strange. My wrist was hurting when we went to the casino on Thursday, but after a couple hours of playing slot machines it felt fine. Did I find a suitable treatment??? LOL I really don't mean to complain. I am very, very thankful that the foot and leg pain is gone. There's just no rhyme or reason why it comes and goes.

Pipsicle 10-28-2018 01:00 PM

Had a tough time sleeping last night. Took a 'nap' from 6-9 then got up for what I though would be a couple of hours. Didn't go back to bed until 2. Tossed and turned from 2-4. Finally slept from 4-10. Really wanted to get up by 8 so I could go to the gym. Will still go but much later than I wanted.

This month was supposed to be my month to pull it all together. I really tried to pay attention, tracked more things and exercised more. Very glad I had NSV. However, the scale (and my wearable tape measure) are showing I am up 4 pounds for the month. Hoping to get at dip by the end of the actual month. I really want to lose 5% of my body weight by the end of the year. I really need to get focused if I want to do that!

Long story short FBS was back in pre-diabetic range this am and weight was up.

Mad- Glad to hear your back if feeling well. Really like hearing about how the fasting is going!

Carol- The huskluka sounds tasty. Hope the pain stays away.

Patty- Wish the program was working better for you. You'll find a path that will work.

Pipsicle 10-28-2018 01:01 PM

Also, made a better plan last night. Complete with times to evaluate how it is working. There are a lot of really nice health and wellness planners available. I'm going to stick with my notebook for now but may upgrade when I finish it out. I really like to ice skate and will try to go this week. Unfortunately, I can't really skate any more but will do my best.
