Hi p.a. Good to see you back. Hope everything went well with the sale of the house. Our humidity is still sticking around. This has been one of the worst summers for a long time. I like summer, but this is rediculous. LOL
Good for you on the weight loss and sticking to lower carb. That's what I think we have to do. I've had to take a bit of meds here and there for some indiscretions, but I hope to get back on track this week. It will always be a struggle for me. |
I've been so busy with getting ready to move that I realized today that we have some Newbies on here and I realized that I need to say :welcome3: too. Glad you have joined us.
p.a. Glad to see you back. It won't take you long to get those lbs off. We had another showing of the house today by a different real estate company. Just have to hang in there and trust the Lord to help us with it. I've been staying OP although my plan these days just seems to be more Intuitive Eating rather than an actual diet. Just too hard to plan a diet right now. As we were setting up for showing, DH asked me if I had used the stove top. I told him no and I'm thinking about buying foods that I can cook without using the stove top. It is a glass top and just too hard to have to clean and keep clean. I am going to have the same thing in the new house. The agent with the new house called Friday and I learned that my appliances in the new house are going to be stainless steel. I had sworn up and down I wasn't ever going to have stainless steel again, but I guess I am. Carol Sue Thanks for sharing the article with me. I saved it to favorites. |
I've never liked liver, either. My mom always tried to disguise it as "swiss steak" but I knew better. I just couldn't get my head around eating an organ whose purpose was to filter out the impurities in the blood. Yuck!
|
I have stainless steel and I hate them. They are impossible to keep clean for longer than 5 minutes. I wanted them so bad, and now I'd like to get rid of them, but we paid too much for them to just get rid of them. The stove isn't too bad, because the top of it it black and the oven door is black glass. It just has stainless steel trim. But I cannot clean the refrigerator without it getting all smeary. DH can do it, but it seems to need cleaned every couple days. If I would get new, I would just get a black refrigerator, and that would go well with the black and stainless stove. I have always had a gas range. When I lived at DH's house for that short time he had electric, the round burners. I burned a big circle in the front of my cookbook, and caught a few dish towels on fire because the burners stay hot after you turn them off. I don't know what the glass cooktop would be like. My daughter in law has a glass cooktop and doesn't have a problem with it. She's not a firebug like me. LOL
When you finally do get an offer for the house, I hope they don't offer much lower than you have already reduced it. |
I loved my glass top we had in FL, but it must have been different. It was more grayish and was easier to clean than the black top I have now, but then it just might be the water rather than the stove top. The water where I'm moving is hard water so maybe it will clean better.
I am also getting a new washer and dryer. I want a dryer that steam dries. My sister has one and I use it when I'm there and love how my hang ups turn out with out me having to iron. I have front loader washer and dryer now, but I don't really want the front load washer any more. I looked online and Whirlpool has a less expensive top loader and washer than the more popular ones. They both include steam clean/dry, so I told DH that I'm going to get those. I had Whirlpool washer and dryer when my children were little and they lasted longer than any of the other washer and dryers I've had. Also the Washer is 5 star where the more expensive front loaders are 4 stars. Both dryers are rated slightly higher than 4 star. The young lady who came and saw the house sometime this weekend set up another appointment with her husband this afternoon. Realtor said they like the property. So I hope they make an offer we can accept. Realtor said we should know something today. DH said she should not have said we would know today because it could be tomorrow or later before we know. I know how low we can accept so we will see. The very first time I was diagnosed diabetic, I had a book called "Fit for LIfe" which is eating in cycles to work in rhythm with the body. Fruit is eaten in the morning until noon, then eat during an 8 hr period and then fast 8 hrs. I worked weird hrs back then... homeschooled grandchildren during the day and then ran a commercial paper route with my now deceased DH. There was no way I could work with that schedule. Knowing how WW SP works with eating more fruits and veggies at mostly 0 pts, I decided why not try it. Of course, I don't eat fruit for 8 hrs. I usually don't start eating fruit until sometime between 9:30 and 10:30. I usually 2 sometimes 3 servings. Although I am allowed to eat at noon, I wait to eat when I'm hungry. This is working great for me. My weight was down another 1lb today and my FBS was down. I wasn't home to check my bs before I ate today, but yesterday, it was really good just before we left to go eat. I didn't check before we left to go eat today because I actually forgot. We had to pick up my eye glasses and we were almost there when I realized that I didn't ever eat anything after I had my second serving of fruit. I just forgot to eat. I got hungry going to the eye place, but by the time we got to the restaurant the hunger had passed. I am loving this. It almost feels like eating normal. :dizzy: I guess it is for me. When I was young and ate... "normal" for me was eating nothing until lunch. Now I just eat some fruit in the morning instead of eating nothing. One of the Newbies asked about reversing diabetes. I didn't answer her, but when I'm thin, I am not diabetic. When I gain the weight back, so the diabetes comes back too. Hopefully this time I will be able to get rid of the excess weight and the diabetes and keep it off. |
Trish, I hope these people make an offer you can accept, or maybe give a counter offer.
I read about this report online, and found a shorter version online, dated yesterday. It says what we already know, that more moving lowers blood sugar, but I thought of you Trish when I read that the exercise that worked best is cycling. I also found an older article online that said the same thing. http://www.digitaltrends.com/health-...glucose-level/ http://w3.unisa.edu.au/news/2007/150107a.asp I know you had to put your cycle away while showing the house, but you will not doubt get back to it after you move. I will have to keep this in mind and use my recumbent bike more often. |
We have a contract on the house. Will close at the end of September. So sill be traveling and possibly get moved in to new house around October 1st. We will sign the contract tomorrow. The lady buying the house has an appointment to see the house this evening between 6 and 7.
We have someone else coming to look at it Friday afternoon between 4 and 5. The strange thing is that the couple buying the house is pre-approved for the loan, but realtor said they still keep doing showings. I guess in case something goes wrong. I've been sick since yesterday. So it is a good thing we don't have to move until the end of September. I surely don't feel like going anywhere today. But we will. Oh, Carol Sue you may have hit the nail on the head the other day when you said the realtor might have been trying to get the house cheaper for a friend when she wanted us to go so low. Turns out the woman who is buying the house with her DH is a realtor. So I think they were trying to get it a lot cheaper. They wanted to pay less on the house and us pay closing. DH told her if we had to come down on the price that low that we would pay $2,000 of the cost. Today they counter offered they would pay $1000 less than our selling price if we would pay the closing cost. So we agreed. |
Trish, for the most part I am very trusting of people, but I have heard of so many issues people have had that I felt it best to warn you. It's always best not to reduce it too much because people will aways offer less. Being that the woman is a realtor, she knows all the tricks. On TV, they show people doing bidding wars, but that doesn't usually happen in real life. I'm glad you have a contract, and I agree it's smart to continue showing. You never know what something will go wrong. I'll bet you're excited now!!

I'm finally feeling human again. Being sick for the last 5 days, I didn't care what I ate. DH had to cook most of those days. Amazing thing this morning is that my FBS was 108. I only ate when I was hungry and didn't worry about whether it was OP or not. So hard to believe this.
|
Trish, you ate the way we are supposed to eat, and that lowered your FBG. Too bad you were sick. Hope you're feeling better now, and I hope you continue to eat that way.
Tonight I go for my sleep study. I stayed up late last night and got up early this morning, only getting 5.5 hours sleep. I would love to lie down and take a nap right now but I want to be sure I'm really sleepy so I will sleep tonight. It's so hard to sleep in a strange place, and they have all sorts of wires hooked up to you, that tends to hinder sleep. |
Glad your feeling better Trish,,, Carol hope you sleep tonight.
I'm trying to hang on here feeling like I take 2 steps forward 1 step back. Made my next Drs appt end of sept I know I need to get my a1c back down so I'm working on it. I have to remember this feeling after my Drs appt and not go into free for all mode again. I feel very uncomfortable these days. Like not comfortable in my own skin.... I'm up over 10 pounds and I used to weigh 60 pounds more. Kind of weird but good in a way. I won't keep gaining. |
Maintaining is much more difficult than losing from what I hear, but I haven't lost anything significant in a long time. I seem to go up and down the same 5 lbs. I did maintain the first 20 lbs without much difficulty. I'm thankful for that. I rarely go off plan enough to have a big gain, but it's enough to keep me from losing more.
I think I will be getting my A1c checked at the end of Sept, too. I am way overdue for it, but back then I know it would have been so high I didn't want to get it done. I know that the way I've been eating recently will bring it down some, even though I'm not seeing big numbers on the scale. I don't know what I have to do for that to happen. I barely slept at my sleep study. I will not have one done again. I will find some way to get supplies without going through that. First of all, they made me sleep on my back, which I just can't do. Finally after a couple hours I did fall asleep, but then the girl came in and woke me saying she needed to adjust something and I couldn't fall back to sleep again. Going to the doctor is the only way to get the supplies covered by insurance, but I don't know if it's worth all that. It was terrible and I'm glad it's over. |
Carol that's sounds like a painful experience.....I've seen how they have done sleep studies and it never made sense to me. I'm like you I can't sleep just anywhere,,,,,I'd be lying there awake.
I'm trying to get my steps back up again. These days if I get in 3000 I'm doing good. I was used to 8000-10,000 I feel like a slug. The heat this summer did me in. Whine whine.... I know snows coming but I'd rather walk in -20 then +25.... The other day I started doing my walk around the a/c cooled apt... I need to keep doing it. |
A quick flyby. We have a closing date of Sept 28th so DH and I will see the doctor here one more time in Sept. Not sure how my A1c will be although I found some 500 mg Metformin. When I was sick this last time, my problem was constipation. So I decided to start taking the 500 mg Metformin. It hasn't caused me any problems and my FBS is now running in the 130s.
We have an inspector coming in the morning. And we have an appointment with the Monday with the movers. We are supposed to have a meeting with a Title company after we close on this house to close on the house in TX here in SC. So we will have the movers load the truck as early as possible on Sept 29th and leave here as soon as they get loaded and leave. Hopefully get to my sisters on Saturday sometime and then have them unload our stuff in TX on Sunday or Monday whichever works for them. Once we get boxes from the movers, we will start packing things. And maybe I can get back to eating OP. I'll try to get here more often next week when things get a little more settled around here. |
Sept 28 sound so far away, but the time will fly by! I'm happy that everything is working out so well for you, and you will still be able to keep in touch with us even when you're in Texas. The internet is wonderful!
