We are having a bit of snow today. Just an inch or so. They said on the news that the roads were bad this morning, but they are OK now. Winter just won't let go.
Trish, I am sorry to hear that your step-mother passed away. May she rest in peace. I hope your father finds a was to be at peace without her. He is not young, either, and shouldn't be alone. I'm glad you got in touch with the builder and things are moving along with your house. You will be moving before you know it. I understand how you feel about your DGS. After all this time he has spent on his education he should have stuck with it for a little while longer and got his degree. Fickle, I hear so much about the shortage of teachers, but it seems that they are cutting back on education. I know a few people with teaching certificates who can't get hired. I took a few college courses, but just enough to be able to get settled in my job. I worked there for 33 years, doing accounting, with just a few courses. At the time, I was working full time and didn't have a car, so I could only go to the 2 yr college that was on the bus line. It worked out for me, but things were different back then. So many employers want to see that degree, in spite of your abilities. The bad thing was the company had a policy to reimburse you for your tuition, but they got stung by someone who got their degree on their dime, then left to work somewhere else. So by the time I came along, they would only reimburse me for half, and that wasn't enough to pay toward the next semester. I intend for my current plan to be my plan for life, but I need to tweak it so I can lose weight. I can't negotiate on starchy carbs. They require too much meds for my liking and I believe the meds are contribution to my inability to lose weight. I know that vegetables are carbs, but I don't really count them as carbs, as they don't raise my blood sugar. Right now I'm thinking that some of my current blood sugar issues are due to this low grade fever I have. It really has me puzzled. I've heard that illness can cause an increase in blood sugar. Mad, I hope you are feeling better. p.a. I think you are OK adding a few carbs here and there as long as your A1c stays good. Individual blood sugar readings can vary without causing a problem. |
Afternoon everyone
Trish I'm sorry for your loss.the sun is shining even though it's cold out, I'm heading out for exercise and fresh air. Bbl |
Hi friends: have finally lost what I gained in 3 days of feasting last weekend. Phew. Hoping the downward trend will now continue.
Some of my colleagues are planning to run in a 5k "costume" race in June, and I am thinking about training for that. Maybe not running, but race walking or something. (don't think the knees would be happy to run) We want to have stork costumes LOL. Maybe having a goal like that, (5 k in under an hour) would motivate me to get into better shape. Along with the weight loss, being fit would be great, and will also help my blood sugars. my cold is getting better, but maybe moving into my chest a bit. So I will take my puffer and my dog, and go for a brisk walk of 2 k this morning. Goal set! |
Ficklehearts! I hear you on the brussel sprouts always have to weigh the love em with the hate em~
Still self cathing still measuring but I don't have to take all my measuring stuff with me to leave the house (just write out on my chart thingy) I am going in the right direction but she said it could still take a month to get there. I did get out of the house a bit so that made me feel better this weekend. I'd love to get outside to walk but until the weather warms up I think I will stay on the treadmill, going to bump myself up to 45 minutes today. |
Donna, it sounds like getting out for a bit is doing you good. I hope you can stop the cathing soon. I prefer the treadmill to walking outside. I have too many allergies.
Mad, I can just picture all of you in your stork costumes! LOL Just when I think I'm doing good with my blood sugar I get a spike. When will I learn? |
Morning everyone
Scale is coming down again, and bg was better this morning. I think eating a few more carbs is working better for me. I looked at my food diary from last summer when I lost most of my weight and stocked up on the same foods. I'm back to watching sodium again as well...I'm sure that helps. Running in stork costumes.,now if you do that we want pictures lol Donna glad you got to get out of the house... |
p.a. Good job on bringing down weight and bs. My BS is still wavering due to this fever, that seems to be going down, but I haven't been on the scale. I feel that I have been eating much less, because I keep taking naps with this fever. Can't eat when you're sleeping. LOL But I don't feel thinner. I only like to weigh when I feel thinner. I would hate to eat less and end up weighing more. Very depressing.
I was watching My 600 Lb Life last night and I saw these people eating 5 donuts, fried chicken, etc. And it's so depressing to me that I never eat that stuff, but I still can't lose. I don't know how much more I can cut back. Yesterday I ate a bite of DH's mac and cheese. And I have a couple orange sections each day, so it's not like I need more carb. I average about 75 gm of carb per day, mostly vegetables. I know that's not 20 gm Atkins, but it's not high carb either. I have cut back my breakfast from 2 eggs to 1, and add more veggies to it. Mushrooms and kale. So good! In fact it's almost all veggies, with the egg holding it together. I might make meat loaf tonight, or go to Denny's because I have a coupon. Love my coupons! Yesterday, I made some sausage stuffed mushroom caps. I have never made them before but DH heard of them and wanted to try them. They were so big and filling that they ended up being our dinner and they are supposed to be just an appetizer. Neither of us was hungry after that. I could do that again, and would probably use a little less sausage and add a bit more chopped stems into the filling. |
Hi Chickies,
Just checking in. I'm busy getting things ready for us to leave for TX. DGS seems to be doing much better and at this moment I have no problem leaving him here on his own. I believe he will do good. We spent today looking at appliances and other things we want in the new house. Now we have an idea of what we want and I hope by checking things out here that we will find it easier to pick out things when we meet with the builder. I also am trying do decide on the fridge, washer and dryer I want. We have to purchase those 3 items and hopefully what I get will last me the rest of my life so I really want to get what I want. Nothing fancy, just efficient. I have decided not to make the Metformin. I spent more time in a restroom today than I did shopping and I was so miserable while shopping. I've tried and tried to take it and I do this most of the time. I'm just not going to go through this any more. I've decided to stay with WW SP. I wrote today and asked them not to cancel me, but to switch me to a month to month. Maybe I will go to a meeting when I get moved, but I've decided it is really easier. The free fruit and veggies I really like and can enjoy and I only have to count the other foods. As some on here have mentioned, I was doing well on it before. I don't think I'll have time to be on here tomorrow or even while we are gone, so I'll talk to y'all next week when we return. Have a great week. |
Morning everyone
Trish I'm glad the move is working out for you. Drive safe and see you when you get back Carol feel better soon! And no you don't eat while sleeping lol...I'm make some stuffed mushrooms tonight to , mine have creamacheese and shrimp in them. Yummm Off to walk the waterfront this afternoon,,it's finally warming up here. Mad are you going to enjoy the weather this weekend? I can't wait to start sitting on my deck again. I'm taking a small lunch with me to eat at the park. |
p.a. I saw a lot of recipes for stuffed mushrooms that called for cream cheese and that surprised me. I would never think of that. The one I made didn't have cream cheese in it.
Trish, I know that WW worked good for you and think you are right to stick to it. It seems that whenever you try something else you never seem to stick with it long like you did with WW. Good luck with that. |
It's been busy this week. Not much going on on the diet front. I went nuts this past weekend. I think Saturday I had around 3000 calories? Yeah.... Back on track so far. Got down 196 before my binge. So far no major gain from my lack of willpower.
Gotta run. Hope things are going well for you all! |
have been careful about portion sizes, but still eating too many carbs, showing up in lack of weight loss. Hope to be back on track soon. Definitely need to get more active. Tomorrow I will have an hour before going to work that I can take a good walk with the dog.
We all seem to be busy this week, and a little off track. Trish, keep up the ww tracking. It does work, though I am finding that even staying within points I don't lose weight eating too many carbs. Fickle, come on, girl, binge is over, time to get back on track for you too. Lets all get there together |
Apparently, I don't lose weight when I eat all my points, including the flex points. SO next week, (my week starts on Fridays!) I will avoid eating flex points, after the weekend. I don't have any occasions next week, just visiting with friends this weekend, so will work on that. Also have to get back to the exercise, this week was difficult for that. Today, I plan a morning walk with the dog before we drop her off with DD for the weekend. Then into the car for the drive to Bancroft to visit dear friends. The weather is finally making a turn for the better and we have balmy temperatures coming, so I hope to be out in the woods and hiking for much of the weekend. And eating low carb with barbecue and salads.
Its been quiet on here, and I think most of us need to get back on plan. Lets go girls |
Mad I don't lose if I eat my exercise calories,,,,,I stick to what MFP gives me for a range.
|
Made it to my sisters and we went to eat at a Chinese buffet. Didn't track because I didn't know how to track a little of this and a little of that. I will just have to count it a cheat day. I did join on the mobil phone and I tracked everything yesterday. Hopefully back on track tomorrow.
Mad Are you doing Smart Pts or Points Plus? Carol Sue Hope you are feeling better. p.a. I don't usually use exercise pts/calories either. Fickle You will get back on. You are really doing good. Y'all have a great weekend. |
